Daniel my guy helped me with my first vehicle and i told him about what happened with my car he said he just happened to have another vehicle up my alley a 2024 cx5 turbo which seemed like an uphill battle because i had to go through the process again.. stubs income etc etc long story short i did not since i had good standing credit with my bank and Daniels financial manager made a call and i was able to put down the settlement from my previous car and drive off! life saver for my family and i! i even got a better rate! The reviews on Google must be bots or have deleted reviews because I went here to get my 2011 Subaru Outback checked. they add stuff on top just to take all the money from you without actually fixing the issue. Also the people at the front are not caring and they know it. i understand you do it for a paycheck but to outwardly tell people that it's your fault that you brought in a car that needs to be fixed at service center makes no sense. I do NOT recommend this Subaru dealership. We visited Richard Lucas Subaru in New Jersey because we are planning to purchase a new vehicle in the coming months. We were simply comparing models, pricing, and overall customer service -- something every serious buyer does. Unlike other dealerships we visited, there were no prices displayed on the vehicles. When we politely asked for pricing, my husband was asked to show his ID just to receive basic information. That was unnecessary and uncomfortable. The most disappointing part was the interaction with the owner. After asking if we were buying the car that day, and hearing that we were not purchasing immediately, he responded: "If you're not buying a car, what are you doing here?" That comment was dismissive and highly unprofessional -- especially in front of our child. It made us feel judged and unwelcome. Professional dealerships understand that customers research before making large financial decisions. Respect should not depend on whether someone is signing paperwork that same day. I bought my first Subaru at Richard Lucas! Everyone we met that day was super helpful and passionate about the brand. I went in expecting to have to haggle for my life but everyone we dealt with was honest and seemed to be just as interested in getting us a good deal that we felt comfortable with. RJ was the first person we met. He greeted us with a smile and made us feel comfortable right away. I came prepared with the deal that was going on at that time which was a low APR for the vehicle I wanted, but I didn't need the print out, as soon as I told RJ the base and model we were interested in, he told me about the deal right away. He had no problem getting us different quotes so that we could compare leasing vs financing, and when we chose financing he helped us figure out what amount of money was the right amount to put down for a comfortable monthly payment. RJ would leave here and there but it was for comfortable spurts of time and usually it was to give us privacy to discuss. Because I was told car dealers sometimes add hidden fees, I did ask RJ for a breakdown of the price once we settled on a vehicle and payment plan. He did so very quickly and after plugging the numbers in an auto finance calculator, EVERYTHING added up. We were happy to see that the trust we felt right away was not unfounded. I got there around 10:30 and we were home by 12:30. The car we wanted was not there at the time and RJ picked it up for us so that we could have the car the same day. When we came back to pick up the car we met Ray, who completed the sale and let us know about some add-ons. Ray is very friendly and a dog lover so if you meet him ask about his adorable dog and her friends =}. Once the car was out of detailing Ray ran and got us gas so that we would have a full tank. Next Jack came, he is the finance guy. I've heard this is the worst part about buying a car, but again, we felt completely comfortable and did not feel like he was trying to sell us things we didn't need. He was actually really helpful in helping us determine what was necessary and what was not. This went quicker than we thought it would. Last we met Bill, he has been working for Subaru for 34 years and is a wealth of knowledge. He took us to our new car and showed us every function to make sure I was getting the most out of all the features. He helped me save my driver settings and pair my phone. He was so nice and easy to talk to and learn from. They have a great team here at Richard Lucas Subaru, I couldn't be happier with our experience as well as my new car! read more

The service is a scam. I came in to get an oil change and tire rotation with the multipoint inspection. The person at the front desk comes out and tells me I need a lot of things changed. Including spark plugs (which were done 6-months ago). They rack up these "things" that need to be done trying to scam you for more money. The filters were said to be in bad condition - nope, I checked and they were in a good condition, meanwhile the service attendant said they are damaged. They showed damaged parts while stating that that's the condition of my car. I got a second option and more than half of the things they stated needed to be done are actually in good condition and DONT NEED TO BE DONE. Don't waste your time, patience, and money here. Lastly to add a cherry on top, they added plate frames (front and back) to my car without my knowledge to help promote them. Removed immediately! I didn't my car from here either so this was just the cherry on top for me. While the service costs are competitive, this is a scammy place. Makes me start to think it they actually did the oil change and tire rotation. Would not return. read more

We have taken my son's car in for an air conditioner issue. This was supposedly repaired two times before! The most recent call back listed the same problems they had listed the two times before and supposedly repaired! Quoted us $1,900 to repair the same thing we had paid to have repaired last time we were in. And yes I have all the paperwork to prove this. We bought 2 cars from them 7 years ago. This Subaru dealership didn't play any tricks; they gave us the TOTAL price right up front (taxes and such included). Furthermore, Cameron was able to get me the LOWEST price. He didn't try to trick us into getting higher costs with extras added; nothing. They were very honest and, more importantly, respectful with my circumstances and that I wanted to shop other brands as well. We recently bought a Subaru Forrester from Lucas and we had a very good experience. Our salesman John P, was very knowledgable about all of the models and was so easy to work with, he wasn't intimidating or pushy at all. we asked so many questions, and took awhile to make a decision on which model we wanted, John and the manager Gregg were both very patient and understanding. Honestly we have never purchased a car so quickly as we did there, but we felt very comfortable and felt like they really worked with us to make the deal. I like that they have a delivery coordinator, Bill, he went over every button, option, etc in the car before we left and told us to call him if we had anyother questions. The finance guy Mike was good too. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is I have not had the opportunity to use the service dept as of yet nor had to call back with any issues, which is as good thing, tho I am expecting a good experience there as well when the time comes. I brought in my Forester for service and was quoted an honest and fair price. They offered free shuttle service to and from my home so i did not have to wait. The waiting room however is comfortable with plush seating a phone charger station. Ryan even lent me his phone charger. How awesome was that. So, we picked up our Subaru from this location in August. Drove from New York. 1. We were told the license plate is temporary and you'll be receiving your new plates in the male. 2. After arriving home, I realized I didn't have an inspection sticker on my car. Apparently they can't do that, since they are in New Jersey. Would be helpful to know that. I called and the manager he never made it to the phone, nor did he call us back. 3. I had to pay for a New York inspection on a Brand NEW CAR. Isn't this covered in all the prepping and paper work. I did pay for that. 4. We hadn't received our plates in over a month. I thought maybe Covid-19 slowed things down. I called Subaru, "It's now October and I haven't received my plates. why is that?" They had them since the first week in September and never told us. Nice! 5. I have the plates now. But there is no License Plate mount on the front of the car. Guess they saved a little there too. Brought our 2020 Subaru Outback to Lucas for the 24K service that we prepaid along with the 8 year, no deductible gold, added security warranty, both from Subaru. We had previously brought the car to Lucas for the 6K, 12K and 18K service, all under the prepaid maintenance also. They call saying they 'recommend' a cabin air filter, engine air filter and throttle body service. It took a total of about 45 minutes to get them / Subaru to see that we had the maintenance agreement and 1 of the filters was covered in the 24K service. The other filter would be replaced at 30K. At that point, I needed to get back to work, I OK'd the throttle body service. Foolish me, I thought they'd treat us right. Turns out from calls to other dealerships and forums on the web - a throttle body service MIGHT be needed at or after 80K miles and we'd have had poor performance from the car (again, the car has 24K miles and no performance issues). Subaru doesn't even list it as part of their scheduled maintenance. This dealer 'recommends' it... for the car's needs? Or their bottom line? It is just an upsell we fell for. Shame on us - but you can be warned. read more

I took my Subaru Forester in for service because I thought I needed new brakes and there was a problem with my front axles. They looked at my car for 25 minutes and give me a estimate of over $2600 for axles and brakes. I called my local garage and they said they can do the work for much cheaper. The estimate included a long list of repairs I should do for a grand total of $5200. It was crazy! I tell the man at the service desk I won't be using them and they still charge me $199 plus tax for JUST LOOKING AT IT! For 25 minutes! I ask if I can get the suggested oil change there (which I didn't need right now) and they said the $199 can only go against the brake and axle repair. Peter at the desk was a nice guy, but I will NEVER go back there again. Over $200 gone in 25 minutes for NO WORK DONE. read more

He is more than rude and seems to be stressed at all times. Is not the first experience in this place and I cannot tell that this is just coincidence. Very unprofessional and disorganized. The potential damage they caused my wife and I is in the 10s of thousands. I've been forced to call his dealer multiple times because of the many errors that they make. They damaged my wife's credit which I'm still trying to clean up three months after the purchase of a vehicle. I even attached a notarized letter saying that assume all responsibility for it. I did a lot of legwork trying to clean up the incident but it's still not enough and will need to do more if it is to be fixed. Getting our permanent plate was such a headache. I would call they will tell me they would need to call me back but hang up on me before getting my number. They will give me misinformation and brush me off on multiple occasions. When my temporary plate expired I want there to get another temporary plate. I called earlier that day and multiple times that week asking if the permanent was in and each and every time they told me no. When I showed up in person for another temporary plate as mine expired that day someone finally looked for the plate and found it with the registration. He implied no one really looked for it before because it was too early for the mail arrive. We traded my wife's old Honda CRV unfortunately this dealership didn't pay off the lien in a timely manner. They also did not contact Honda and inform them that they assumed control of his vehicle. As a result of their negligence honda issued a no payment which was sent to the credit bureau's. I had to call the dealership and inform them that they did not pay for my wife's vehicle which they immediately scrambled and paid off the lien as quickly as possible. I spent hours on the phone with both the dealership and Honda in order to get the late payment removed against her Honda financial statement. I think the dealership is under the impression that it was their work alone which caused this when in reality they couldn't even discuss my wife's account with Honda until after I authorized them to speak on the account and the authorization I gave was in a limited capacity. For all my trouble with the dealership was kind enough to send me a "complementary" two-year maintenance package. I was underwhelmed by this gesture as many other dealerships give that for free when you purchase a vehicle. They also sent me a letter reassuring me that no damage to my wife's credit existed while assuming all liability; they use the word responsibility but that's really liability. Fast-forward... We've been regularly checking my wife's credit as a result of this incident and begin the process to refinance our mortgage. Our first free credit report that we received from each credit reporting bureau doesn't turn up any incident. However the following month my wife's Discover card and the fico score they give her shows a 77 point drop in a month and one late payment when all previous records indicated no late payments. Her score went from 818 to 741 and resulted in a drop in tier. The long and the short of it is right now I'm waiting to get another credit report from each bureau which the dealer agreed to pay for and give them the results. I was told by the dealership that I would be hearing from Richard Lucas who handles the financial aspects of matters like this. To date I still not have heard from him But once the results come back they will hear from me. There is absolutely nothing this dealership can do to improve their rating with me the damage that they've done to my wife's credit likely is worth more than the cost of the vehicle. I will be working on actually fixing the damage they have caused, I'm optimistic that it can be rectified but at the expense of my time. read more

I had an emergency and they were able to take me right away and fix the issue with my 2016 WRX . They explain everything in detail and don't make you wait all day like my Jeep dealership. I had visited Lucas Subaru when I was in the market for a new car last year. I did not end up buying there, because I feel like I wasn't getting a good enough deal and the sales guy wasn't easy to deal with But since they're the closest place to get my Subie serviced I came here. Saturday was pretty dead by dealer service standards. The dealership itself is not that great - you have to drive through this tiny lane to get around the backside where service is. Nothing is clearly marked so I had to ask someone at Chevy service. Its like the Subaru section was an afterthought and Cheverolet gets all the space. Ok so I go in and its one guy behind a ratty looking desk. The check in was fine and my wait wasn't long but it just kind of depressing in there. Seriously, one would think they would call the customer to let them know if their car servicing was complete or if it needed more time...or a part etc... BUT THIS PLACE NEVER CALLS. I was pleasantly pleased with the service and professionalism I received from everyone at the dealership. Initially I was contacted by Scott in online sales and spoke to him over several months about the car I wanted. He was always helpful and answered all my questions. When I was ready to make the purchase (months later) he connected me with Bill P. who became my salesman. Bill was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He was able to locate the car I wanted within a few days. Also, being a single female I went into the dealership and I didn't feel intimidated or uncomfortable; everyone was super friendly and welcoming. I also met the sales manager (Greg) who had a great personality and I felt he gave me a great deal for my 2018 Touring. Lastly, Jason in finance helped with all my paperwork and on the day of pick up things went rather smoothly and I was done within 15 minutes.
