Wife made a reservation to play golf on Father's Day, when she made the reservation asked if our 24 month daughter could play, they said yes. Go to check in the young man at the pro shop said nothing, we get to the tee box on the first hole and some other guy that works there said we had to leave. Not even offered us a free bucket of balls or drink tickets or anything just we had to leave. No where listen in the rules on their website does it say anything about it. Super annoyed considering I've seen babies ride along at the course before and other local courses. Shame on you guys read more

Course and course conditions are decent but poorly managed. Even if tee time is fully open they don't let people go solo, they will move your tee time and group you. The way they went about it wasn't very professional/kind. Hit a bucket and a half of range balls and not exaggerating, half the balls were dead. Santa Anita Golf Course is my go-to driving range since I live nearby, and I've always had a great experience here. It's usually not too crowded, and I can almost always find a spot without waiting, which makes it super convenient when I just want to get some swings in. The main reason I wanted to leave this review, though, is to highlight how awesome Michael is at the pro shop. His customer service is truly next level--friendly, helpful, and always in a good mood. You can tell he genuinely cares, and from what I've seen, everyone at the range appreciates him just as much as I do. He's a big reason why this place feels so welcoming. First timer at this course. Would come again. Played an 18 hole. Cost roughly $35 with kart. You can choose to walk for lower price. It is a big course though. Some holes are challenging with many hills. Especially 18. Plenty of restrooms throughout the course just incase. And oh yeah beautiful sky views. read more

It is a decent public golf course located in the center of Arcadia. It is a reasonable size golf course in the city center. Played here a few times. Although it is not perfectly managed, the green and fairway were still nice. Rough can be a bit long at some points, but I cannot complain much as it is a public golf course. Range balls were a bit old, and they do not fly as well sometimes. They offering prepaid keys for the range ball for 10% discount. Parking lot is huge that parking will never be an issue. read more

It's a shame they've let such a great course slip on condition without seemingly basic greenskeeping principles. The tee boxes (pictured) are an embarrassment. The greens are overgrown and the slowest I've ever played on a muni in LA, and that's not an easy bar to clear. There essentially are no fairways and no rough. Just one cut of grass through the whole course, which is like a first cut of rough. Look, I'm a municipal golfer. I don't need things to be perfect. But is cutting the grass and having more than dead grass and dirt on the tee boxes too much to ask for my $50 fee? read more

It's one of the few local 18 hole courses in the SGV but they stack the tee times and there is no marshall monitoring play. If you're not teeing off before 8:00am, you can expect at least a five hour round. Course is walkable and the people in the proshop/starter seem nice. Conditions are mediocre but the greens are probably the worst. Seems like the grass is different than other nearby courses and there are so many unfixed divots. read more

Reserved a start time through Golf Now. Had a morning of cancellation for a fam emergency from my foursome. Starter said no problem we had three. After the round noticed my CC was charged for another round $66.50! Spoke with starter said its Golf Now not the golf course who charged you and will keep the $. Called Golf Now the next day said they did not charge me the golf course did!. Got on 3 way with course manager on duty. He said it was out of his hands Golf Now gives the course the right to charge the full rate. So it was the course that charged me! Asked for refund or a credit he said out of his hands sorry for ripping you off basically! They could have reversed the CC chargers. My round cost me $133. They could have done the honorable thing and had a lifelong client. read more

Sadly this course is great HOWEVER when tee times are stacked 7 minutes apart and 5somes are allowed (and walking at that), this course gets backed up ridiculously. Wasn't always this way but if allowing 5somes, need to go back to 9 or 10 minute tee times.......OR stop allowing 5somes. At every par 3 there's 3 or 4 groups waiting......CARMAGEDON! Our group plays this course weekly, and our club often plays there. We love the course and see beautiful results from the recent repair of some of the fairways. However, it is very frustrating to find that the flag positions on our Friday outing stay the same week after week. We love the challenging flag positions but expect new challenges each week. I know the person responsible for changing the flags only works for six days, so we get this unchanging course when he returns and advances the flags by only one position. The obvious solution is to move the flags by two positions on whatever day he returns or delegate the responsibility to someone else on his day off. Management has been notified about this problem several times this year, and the problem is fixed in a few weeks, and then the repeating pattern returns. This is just a lack of proper supervision. Fix the flag situation, and I'll give SA six stars because it is an otherwise very well-maintained, beautiful course with a nice mix of challenges at a very reasonable price. Update 12/20. Flags still stuck on the same place going on two months now. Does anyone at the course even know where the flags are placed and have a historical record? read more

One of the best muni courses around. Pretty well kept. I like that the course is not flat and has some challenging holes! The pace of play is good ( I tee off around 6am-7am normally). Price is fair. I try to play here once or twice a week since I'm local. read more

We played this course Saturday. I must mention that I grew up at a country club so I can't be too hard on a public course like Santa Anita. The good was it has a nice layout with wide fairways and it's fair. I did notice that some of the par 4's were really short and some of them were fairly long. All but 1 of the par 3's were long and really challenging. The worst thing about this course were the greens. I've read reviews that they were good, but my experience was I had to hit and hope because they were bumpy and not in great shape. Most did have a lot of break as well. I should note that most of the greens were elevated so it required some thought on what club to hit. Most of the tee boxes were not so great either, but large so I was able to find a spot to tee it up. The round took 5 hours which is pretty normal for a public course on a Saturday. read more

Great place to play golf or get some practice on their driving range. Range is lit very well, for late night sessions. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. especially John. Certain parts of the fairway can use a bit more love, but otherwise I'm pretty good shape. Also a great place to see wildlife :) Will add more golf course pics next trip. read more

I was coaxed out by a friend yesterday. It has been a wet and cool winter here in LA and the mountain tops show snow about the course which is near the expressway in Arcadia. The sun was out and the sweater came off by the 7th hole. We had a 7.49 Tee time and followed the group of women who marched ahead at blinding speed. The parking is ample and the pro shop was efficient with the fellow calling out people by name. I spent 60$ including energy bars, gatorade and green fee. We walked. The reviews do not do service to this above average public golf course. I saw nothing to complain about course wise unless you want to talk about my swing consistency. You have the San Gabriel mountains on each fareway and there were mature trees and challenging holes. The bunkers I found were sand and typical if not sandier than other LA public courses I have played. I found 3 this day. There is a cafe and outdoor seating though I didn't use it. We finished just before noon so a 4 hour 18 hole day. I would call it Epic! Don't let these bad reviews scare you off. This is a great course to work on your drives and approach shots. The putting greens in California are always tricky from dew or heat. Read it and don't put it short! It took me 24 minutes to commute out from the Hollywood bowl and the same coming back. We did hit a small bucket right before teeing off. Get the code when you pay your greens fee. Stop complaining and enjoy how every swing is a new challenge in golf! Had such an incredible time here a couple weeks ago that I was dying to come back. Great design, great pace, close to my house, good facilities. Yesterday however was the complete opposite. We teed off at 3:55, first hole was wide open everything seemed fine. We got to the first green and they were punched and completely covered in sand. Unplayable conditions. Then we quickly reach the next group and pace comes to a standstill, taking us over an hour to play THREE holes. When we saw there was no one on the back we decided to skip ahead where we were promptly stopped by staff saying it is closed and you will be playing the front nine twice. NONE of this was mentioned to us when arriving and paying for a round of golf here. AND we asked for a refund and was promptly told that was not possible. A real shame that I won't be returning here after such a great experience before yesterday. read more

I have to start this with saying I do t usually rant, but.... I had THE worst golf experience of my life at Santa Anita. I was just trying to play 18 holes with my friends after a long week of work and it took us 3 and a half hours to play nine holes. since it was late we tried to get the back nine refunded but the clubhouse workers were SO rude to us and told us that a Friday round should take 6-6 1/2 hours! The Good: Friendly pro shop staff Fairways in relatively good shape for a muni Pace of play decent for a muni Fairway mounds make for an interesting challenge at an otherwise flat parcel of land. The Bad: Greens are very slow yet so hard that every shot into the greens roll off the back. Very strange considering I played after a considerable amount of rain. Weird that to have hard greens that aren't fast. The conditions of the greens makes not really want to come back. I believe this can be fixed though. All in all not a terrible track. I may try again and hopefully give a better updated review. read more

This golf course is inside of city of Arcadia. This golf course is a par 71 almost 6500 yd. The course condition is very decent, the grass are pretty green. However there was one very bad thing about this course is the greens. It is extremely hard, the grass on the greens is terrible. The greens and so hard when you chip the ball or when you hit the ball to the greens, it will not stop. However if you are putting on this green, it is extremely slow, you need to cut very hard and sometimes even that you come up short. They really need to completely replace their greens read more

I play this course in the early mornings in damp weather, as expected bunkers are damp and hard to play. However, today on the par 3, 13th hole green side bunker. I hit my shot out of the sand trap as any other shot, only to end up with a dent in my sand wedge caused by a rock over 9 inches wide. Use to live in the area and played the course a lot, came back and played on 10/30/23, Greens are horrible! Long grass, weeds in spots, ball rolls super slow, have to whack it around like croquet! Fairways have always been longer grass then most , so i was expecting that. i'm not picky or a scratch golfer , but good at chipping and putting , these greens aren't even fun , 4 feet out and u have to whack it pretty good which pulls ball. Called it after 9, went to clubhouse to see about a back nine refund , got a hard No! I have only asked for a refund on a back nine two or three times in my long golfing career and never had a issue. Didn't care to much as it would've only been like ten bucks. Anyways, will be my last time here. Its for people who live in area and just want to walk a course. Bad greens and long fairway grass. This course was a huge disappointment from the rude guy in the pro shop to the slow pace, overall noise level, concrete hard tee boxes and the non cared for dried out greens. If you choose to play in the afternoon, be prepared to hear the pounding drums from the high school marching band on the back 9. The only redeeming quality of this experience was the beautiful view of the mountains. Cannot in good conscience recommend this course to anyone. read more

Friendly staff would like to play the course just used the driving range and putting green

The closest thing I came to golfing was miniature golfing. So when my family suggested that we go golfing, I was a bit hesitant but decided to give it a go. For $9 you get a bucket of balls that you can use at the driving range. My brother in law had me try hitting with a 9 iron. I was getting frustrated as heck because all of the shots that I was hitting wasn't going up in the air, just rolling on the ground. Then it happened... I finally hit one up in the air and it went 100 yards. Best feeling in the world. Instantly hooked! Then I started to consistently hit it in the air and about 100 yards that I started to gain some confidence... Until I tried the drivers... I seriously thought that it would be easier to launch the golf balls far because the area is so big and its even on a tee. Jee was I wrong. I couldn't even control the ball. It kept swerving to the right and only about 100 yards. Then after I gave up with the drivers, I decided to hit up the putting area. That was cool. My experience with miniature golfing did absolutely nothing for me. lol. Would I be back? Heck yeah! Like I said.. I'm hooked now. Just gotta keep practicing at the range for now. Maybe one day I'll hit the golf course. It made me feel a lot better when I was watching people at the start of the golf course and they were completely mishitting the ball. That means there is hope for me! lol read more

******Do NOT play here****** The tee boxes are beat up but the fairways are stupid, this course is so poorly managed. Please take a look at the photos "the fairways". My buddy and I had a tee time before 8am and made the drive from Ventura county to come play here. We figured hey it's a prime tee time on a Saturday surely the course will be decent. WRONG. If the course plays this terribly during a peak tee time on a Saturday I can only imagine how terrible a twilight round would be on a weekday. You see my ball in the first picture? Yeah, I barely can either and that's in the fairway! If you are any level of serious about your golf game do not play here, waste of time and will do you no favors. Don't get me wrong I understand this isn't TPC Sawgrass it's a public course but is it that hard for the grounds crew, pro shop and head pro to have a little self respect and take a little pride in their jobs? I play 2-3x a week and can say without a doubt this is one of the worst managed courses I've experienced. If you're just absolutely terrible out of the first cut and want to get 14 holes worth of practice out of the rough - play here and you'll get your money's worth. Pathetic. read more

Comparing this to other courses in the area: The greens are hard and there's dead patches of just dirt on a lot of the fairways. Bunkers are concrete. Other courses let spectators on for free or a very minimal cost for a golf cart. This place charges $16 to let my girlfriend just to walk and watch me play. Outrageous when the green fees for twilight are only $19. I understand if you rent a cart for that fee, but walking should be free. Not coming back here unless they change that ridiculous fee, why play here when other courses in the area don't charge for spectators. Trying to convince my girlfriend to actually like golf and support my hobby, but these guys are trying to rip people off for bringing people along to show them. read more

I've been playing Santa Anita for years. It's one of those regulation 18 holes that is pretty easy, wild open and not too hard to play. If you're a big driver, slicer or a hooker, you'll fair pretty well on Santa Anita...just make sure you yell FORE if you're hitting it long onto the OTHER side of someone else's fairway. The course is pretty wide open for big hitters. The greens and course conditions are fairly good all year round. They allow 5-somes but the wait between holes aren't long either. Santa Anita is an easy course to walk..so save some $ and walk. They have a nice driving range, plenty of parking and a nice restaurant that services up pretty good food. I like when there are horse races next door at the Santa Anita racetrack, you can hear the announcers and race going on while you're playing the course. There's also drinking fountains on almost every hole. It is fairly easy to reserve a nice early morning tee time with Santa Anita if they don't have a tournament. Just call them a week in advance. read more

The bucket list begins as I start semi-retirement & 1 month off of work! I live in the area and somehow never played Santa Anita golf course, but have always been curious as I go to the nearby mall all the time. I'm giving 4 stars based on value & beauty of the course, as well as being able to finish in only 4 hours 30 mins. The golf course is really nicely maintained, with flat tee boxes, and I mean FLAT. No having to hunt around for a level spot. I'm looking at you, Altadena golf course! Anyway, one of the things that I dislike about some golf courses is that they can be built on land that is undesireable, such as near freeways or power lines. Sanita Anita is on a beautiful part of land that is quiet, only near residential streets & you can see the mountains in the background. None of the greens had brown or bare spots, and a stray shot in the rough has longer grass that is fair but not punishing. I really liked the variety of distances here.... some par 5s were 550, some par 3s were 200, and some par 4s were 350 or 440. They are no forced carries and no water hazards on this golf course The only thing that can be frustrating on this course is that you can hit a perfect tee shot in the middle of the fairway, but have an uneven lie because of the terrain & hills that sometimes come out of nowhere. Other than that, $27 is a bargain to play this course. Coming back for sure! read more
