The reviews match my experience: pushy sales tactics and no concern for customers. I have purchased a car from this dealer and attempted to purchase another. Never again. Their core strategy, as best I can tell, is to never allow the customer any say over the buying process. They will gatekeep whatever you want and they will make you wait for them to decide to give it to you. When I went the first time, they wanted me to agree to a purchase price *before driving the car* -- a purchase price with $6,000 in dealer markups. It took a literal hour of negotiating just to test drive the car. The purchase process continued exactly like that. They wouldn't text. They wouldn't email. They wouldn't provide straight answers. Every tactic was designed to keep me in person, at the dealership, waiting on them to let me move forward. It's an awful experience. My second experience there was exactly the same. I showed up wanting to see a specific car. I was seen by a sales person immediately, and yet it still took 30 minutes just to see a car. Not the car I wanted, an upsell model that I expressly didn't want. It then took another 20 minutes of sales pitches and waiting to drive it. And when the test drive was done, I was asked to wait again. I walked away. Despite having different sales people, both experiences were the same. A near-infinite number of tiny steps meant to keep you waiting and to wear you down, while they control the sales process. The more you resist, the more you wait. It's miserable. SCAM ALERT!!! My 70-year-old aunt brought her car in for a routine oil change. The service advisor told her they would top off fluids and do a basic inspection, which she agreed to. Instead, they performed additional services, including tire rotation, balancing, and an alignment, without clearly explaining or getting approval for those charges. What should have been about a $100 visit turned into a $690 bill. This feels like a classic upsell situation where an older customer was taken advantage of. At minimum, there was a serious lack of transparency and communication. We will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and encourage others, especially seniors, to be very cautious and ask for written approval before any additional work is done. read more

I went to Santa Barbara Honda to look at a vehicle that looked decent online it was a used car with low mileage, when I saw the car it looked pretty beat up for having the low mileage that it had. I expressed that I would not be financing through them if I decided to purchase the car which ultimately I did not do, after a few months I get a letter that they ran a hard credit check on me for their financing which really pissed me off and I feel that was pretty underhanded of them, Now I am questioning if that was the actual mileage on the car or if they rolled it back. My husband and I went to look at a used hybrid and wanted to purchase it, cash in hand ready to make a deal. The finance guy said he didn't have wiggle room on a used vehicle but could offer a great deal on a new one . Cool, we'll look at them. We knew what we wanted and the color. They kept pushing ones in stock. no, we want a specific color. After 4 hours on a Saturday night, we finally were so tired and hungry and we kept telling them we had people at home that needed care, we agreed to a dark blue hybrid. We wanted to come back the next day to finish the paperwork but they kept insisting we were almost done. Finally, by 9pm (5 hours later) we had to walk out , they still tried to stop us. We met with no less than 5 people that day and left with no car. Fast forward to a week later and we go to Ventura Honda to look there. The salesperson keeps us waiting so we wander over to Subaru. 2.5 hours later we have a new Forrester Hybrid, only dealt with 2 people, the salesman Lars and the finance guy. Although I had heard about and have had horrible service at this service center, the service was included when I purchased a 2025 Honda Accord. I was hopeful that MAYBE they had turned things around!!! I was MISTAKEN. Worst experience ever!!!!! My key was lost and I had to wait an hour to get a new one programmed. I then had to drive home and get my emergency key with codes because it was no longer compatible with the new one. It took HALF my day to get this resolved. I have had multiple terrible experiences with the service department at Honda. Multiple occasions of bringing my car in for a service light turning on them having the car for multiple days and then right when I get the car back the same light turns on immediately. Recently, my brand new EV car that I've only had for not even a year shut down completely in the middle of the road and I needed to get my car towed there. I was told that I wasn't able to get a loaner car that day. I had to work the next day and go drive to pick up my daughter an hour and a half away so that was obviously not an option for me. after arguing with them for an hour I was finally able to get a loaner car which they try to make me pay $40 a day for and I said absolutely not. I went back the next day to check on everything and they said my car was fine, but there was an issue with the tire and apparently there was a nail in my tire, but they didn't work on it because they didn't have my approval so I still didn't get my car back on Monday after I had to dropped it off on Saturday. I had gotten a tire patched about a month before and it had cost $45 and then this time they told me it was going to be $55 so it went up $10 since the last time I had been in there in less than a month. At this point, I don't even trust them with my vehicle. I am beyond upset at how they have treated me. I was stranded in the middle of the road for over an hour because my car shut down with zero warning. It was an extremely scary experience and I felt absolutely no remorse on their end and they did not try to accommodate me without me having to get extremely upset. I would never recommend buying a car from Honda or bringing it to Honda service center. Also, the guy that I was speaking with in the service center, Luis, was very rude and unhelpful and coming from a situation like I did the least he could do is be friendly. He was acting like I was putting him out for asking for a loaner car when I was completely out a car that is under warranty. if I could give them zero stars, I would. One more thing the sales department was not much better. I told them my worries about driving a car that had completely shut down on me and was pretty much left with the only option is getting another lease which they were trying to offer me $800 payments a month which I'm paying $360 right now. Within 3,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a major mechanical failure -- the VTC solenoid broke apart inside its housing, with broken pieces lodged inside the engine. According to the technician at Tyrrell Honda in Cheyenne, WY, this failure was highly unusual and likely due to improper factory assembly. The technician had to disassemble multiple components to access and remove the debris before the repair could be completed. For a brand-new vehicle, this is deeply concerning and raises serious questions about Honda's quality control and manufacturing standards. I was stranded with my family while on a road trip, and no loaner vehicle was offered. The vehicle remained in the shop for most of our trip. After the repair, I was informed that a socket tool had been accidentally left inside the engine compartment -- an alarming oversight that could have caused further damage or safety issues. Shortly after receiving my vehicle back, we noticed the air conditioning system stopped working properly blowing non cold air. Back at Santa Barbara Honda, I was told the AC condenser had been damaged by a rock and would not be covered under warranty. Tragically, that CR-V was totaled in an accident just last week with my husband and 2-year-old in the car. Thankfully, they are both okay, but it was an emotional and devastating loss. I saw it as a moment to upgrade for our growing family -- I'm currently 5 months pregnant -- and naturally, I turned to the Honda Pilot. I've done my research and know the value Honda offers, which is why it's the only brand I will buy. That brings me to the experience I had with Santa Barbara Honda, which was not just disappointing, but deeply frustrating -- so much so that it actually brought me to tears, something I'm embarrassed to admit but feel is important to share, because it reflects how upsetting this process was. I found a used Honda Pilot online that was exactly what I was looking for. I called the dealership right away to confirm its availability and be upfront about my budget. I knew I was at the top end of what I could afford, so I asked directly if my budget was workable or if they could offer me their best price. We called three separate times because we were told someone would call us back -- and no one ever did. When we did get someone on the phone, we were pressured to drive in (about two hours away), but no one would give us a price or even a rough idea, despite my repeated requests. This went on from 12 p.m. to nearly 5 p.m., when we were finally told the car wasn't even on the lot because it was on loan -- meaning if we had driven there as they kept pushing, the car wouldn't have been there. Still, I followed up again on Monday. I again asked clearly if my budget was reasonable or if they could tell me what was possible before I made a nearly two-hour drive -- with a toddler -- to see it. I was told the sales manager would call me at 2:30 p.m. He didn't. When I checked in again at 2:45, I was told they were "slammed" and that someone would get back to me. I checked in again at 4 p.m. Still nothing. Finally, around 5 p.m., they gave me a "best price" -- that was higher than the price listed online. At this point, I felt completely dismissed. Clearly, they hadn't listened to anything I said about my budget, my situation, or my needs. When I pointed out the price being less online, I was met with a patronizing, "What is that -- a difference of $35?" from Maury, the employee I had been communicating with. That comment was infuriating. Obviously, I'm not going through days of back and forth over $35 -- it's about the principle and the way this entire interaction was handled. When I responded that I was disappointed by how dismissive the process had been, the reply I received was, "If the difference is truly over $35, I'm sure we'll have no problem figuring that out for you. We're here until 8 p.m.!" It felt like he was trying to make me seem petty -- as if I was being unreasonable over $35 -- when in reality, I had clearly communicated I was hoping for around $1,500 in flexibility. And if that wasn't possible? They could've just said so from the beginning. Instead, I was dragged through a two-day sales dance, only to be told I was basically overreacting -- then offered a deal $1,300 under the online price. That's a deal I would have absolutely considered from the start. But at that point, I felt manipulated. I felt like they had been trying to wear me down instead of just being upfront. Even though that car was a perfect fit, I couldn't go through with the purchase out of principle. No car is worth being made to feel like a nuisance, or like your situation doesn't matter. This experience was not only disappointing -- it was dehumanizing. I've never felt this way at any Honda dealership before. I had the service department charge me 20% restock fees, an absurdly high $2k added fee, for reshipping exorbitantly priced 'parts' that apparently came from the Santa Barbara Auto Group, literally just a few short miles away (UBER would charge $30 to get there), and is NOT an Acura dealer, which my car was. Was honestly not going to leave a review, but the more I thought about the experience the more angry it made me. Dropped my car off this morning for routine maintenance and an inspection as I'd been having some trouble with my car not starting and I wanted the inspection done by those who were supposed to be professionals and was fine paying extra for that. After paying nearly $400 for an oil change, tire rotation, and an inspection, I receive a link that recommended I pay an extra $3300 to 1. replace the brake pads ($500) 2. Replace the cabin air filter ($150) 3. Replace the sway bar end links ($600) 4. Replace the drive belt ($300) 5. Replace brake fluid ($240) 6. Replace starter motor ($1340). There was no world where I was paying for any of that as even in the blurry images of someone else's phone containing my car parts, I could tell that almost none of that was really necessary nor should it cost anywhere near that much. The cherry on top, was that when I arrived to pick up my car to take it to another shop, the car miraculously wouldn't start and the power steering and brake system now also were having issues. After seeing this, they gave me two options; pay for their ridiculously expensive services so it might start again, or pay for my own tow truck to take it to another shop so another mechanic can fix it. They offered no free repair for the damage they did to my car, no partial or full refund for the "maintenance" already done, no free tow to another repair shop, and zero discounted repairs of any kind aside from a 10% discount on an already horribly priced starter motor replacement that was offered before they were aware of the new damage. Was told from someone at the dealership it would take 3-4 weeks to appear/reflect the total balance of the loan. 5 weeks later & 2 attempted contacts but always told "we'll call back" and no refund has been processed and the dealer has been sitting on the funds since Honda care says funds had been prorated refunded as of march 10th to the dealer to distribute to Honda financial but they've yet to do so and never communicate when being reached out to. Horrible customer service & way to contract business. No manager or GM is willing to speak to get the matter handled. What a joke read more

Edit: Because calmer heads on Yelp reviews need to be addressed... my calmer head. While the situations I mentioned happened, and my terror was tangible, I want accountability. But sometimes, that's just not possible and I need to accept that. Paul tried to help us, shared his own experiences, and gave us tacos when the first episode happened. His dealership doesn't deserve 1 star, and I apologize for that. But I'm leaving my review because Odyssey owners should go in eyes wide open with the "idle stop" feature, and the protections not available to certified vehicles if something goes awry. Excitement turned to terror, with a vehicle purchased at this dealership. There's no over exaggeration in play here. Due to negligence I perceived, on the part of the dealership or alarm company they align themselves with, the vehicle became dead weight not once but thrice. Once in the middle of a traffic ridden intersection, in a Camarillo parking lot, and finally in a busy school left turn lane. In that busy intersection? Car brakes screeched to keep from hitting myself and other cars stopped behind me. Accidents I'm grateful an amazing police officer kept from happening. The dealerships attempt at helping us, after a scathing yelp review, seemed successful, until it wasn't. A third episode left us no choice but to seek legal counsel. Sadly, I no longer trusted Paul or his staff, especially when a document obtained had a forged signature. Sadly, We are now the owners of a 2022 Honda Odyssey, that still occasionally loses all power when the "idle stop switch" isn't bypassed. It's completely normal to me, but I forget about my passengers, as my poor sister can attest to just last week. Her panic was palpable. Is this van a lemon? Maybe. But certification on vehicles protects manufactures and dealerships from worrying about such things. A sale is a sale, never forget that. As I play, Russian roulette Van Stop edition with my $40,000 dollar van, that's a fact I'll certainly never forget ever again. read more

Thank you SB Honda for the great reminder as to why I never go to dealerships anymore. You have a great product that sells itself. The problem is that you are the 'stereo-typical' say anything (truth or lie) to sell a car. Your young salesman talked in circles and made sh*t up. Not my first rodeo. Second update to this review and it's only gotten worse. They keep calling me inviting me to waste my time because I live 2 hours away and I keep explaining that things need to be done a certain way. They tell me they're gonna call me back and then they always ghost me for a week and start over. I'm visiting from San Diego and had a minor accident and damaged my driver side mirror. I went in to the Service Department not expecting a positive response but HOLY COW!!! What a pleasant surprise!!! From the young man who checked me in to the sales staff to Chuy, who helped me calm down and assured me that my side mirror was available and they could repair the damage and the scrapes within 2 hours. And they did!!! I love this team!!! Would have never met them if I hadn't had an accident but sooooo glad I did and got to meet these amazing people!! read more

I recently brought in my 2022 Honda Civic for a 30k service. The last time i was in for a minor service I was "warned" that the 30k is more expensive and should run about $800. I made an appointment and was met by the service advisor who gave me three choices for service.... The recommended service was $1900 (call the best). However if i was willing to step down to a "good" service the price was $1400+. On the other hand if willing to go with the basics we would be down to $1100. Rather than walk away (which I should have done), I settled for the "basic" $1100 service which was done (I assume well). After getting home I called three Honda specialist service companies in Santa Barbara and asked for price on a 30k service and was quoted between $625 and "about" $800. At the same time when I bought the car in there was a warning display (which the service department had previously fixed. I was clear to the service guy... be sure to keep the display on so that it can be seen .... I was told that it would be about $200+ to diagnose it. Surprise when later called i was told that when the car was taken back the display was no longer showing (the car had been turned off). I suggested that they look at how they fixed it previously... but somehow that was not in the cards. When i made all of my complaints clear to them... they offered me a free oil change next time.... There will not be a next time for me. Overpriced and do not recommend. read more

I've been trying for a month now to get my car fixed and it's just excuse after excuse at this dealership. The first time I showed up they had too many appointments and after showing up on time and waiting 20 minutes in line waiting to be helped, I asked someone who worked there if I should keep waiting and instead of answering my question he told me he could help me sell my car. I left after this interaction and called to reschedule. I was rescheduled for a week later. I show up on time to my appointment but this time they won't take my car in because even though they insisted on scheduling it a week out so they could be ready. They did not have the part ready, and I was turned away again. I was told the part will be here tomorrow and they will call me as soon as it's here so they can finally fix my car. That was two weeks ago, and sb Honda has still not called me or fixed my car. In fact, I can't get ahold of my service rep and all the other reps just keep telling me that my rep will call me back, but Tony does not call back. Do not support this business. read more
