Feral Tom Cat back from Surgery. (nose injured from escape attempts.)
Darryl N.

Santa Cruz is our primary location for affordable care of pets. We primarily use this clinic for foster pets spay and neuter and first shots for Pima Animal Care Center animals. They are very efficient and will get you in and out, especially for appointments. We started using Santa Cruz for the Feral Cat program (Trap, Speuter, Release). They were very helpful and assistive in addressing every surgery need of the animals that we take to them. For Covid, they have set up curbside services so you sign in outside and then wait in your vehicle for the techs to come out and retrieve/deliver your pets. (I was in a hurry and came inside by accident, but they politely directed me outside...oops and sorry) I want you to know they are a local office, without the corporate vet issues of over charging and lack of empathy. On spay/neuter they are quick and efficient, so there the interactions are usually brief and quick, but if you have questions they will stop and help. Also because they do community feral cat programs, there is occasionally the strong odor of male cats in the office. They also have some pet supplies like most vets. Very small parking and can be crowded in mornings. Great place and service for the community.

do. not. bring your pets here! our 1 year old male cat came in for a neuter, and as soon as we got home he started bleeding a noticeable amount, even leaving large blood clots all over the bathroom. we had to rush him to an emergency vet and pay another $700 to have this awful job fixed. go to any other affordable vet clinic! this place will not take care of your animals. medical malpractice to the fullest extent!

Santa Cruz saved my cats life. We were referred to this veterinary clinic by an emergency room clinic for being an affordable option. If you have ever been to SCVC you would quickly learn that they take in, spay or neuter, and then release stray cats leading to healthier animals and minimizing overpopulation. Their humanitarian aid reaches beyond strays; I was blessed enough to be on the receiving end of a reduced rate on my cats emergency and life saving surgery because at the time I truly needed the help. Now I take my pets here for any reason. Their doctors and vet techs are so helpful and kind, I just know that they care about the animals well being above anything else. The last time I visited they waived the office fee because the X-ray machine was down and they referred me to another location. Thank you so much Santa Cruz for all you do!

I don't understand what the big fuss is about. People are incredibly impatient and heated when they don't get their immediate gratification. Always selfishly about them. Santa Cruz Vet is an awesome veterinary clinic that focuses on AFFORDABLE care for your pets. Since when are affordable business NOT insanely busy to take care of you instantly because you like to be the squeaky selfish wheel. Wait your turn. Santa Cruz does wonders for the Tucson and Arizona community through their charity and adoption events, their partnership with Asavet, and many other programs they offer. They do meaningful work. They also had an AWESOME Star Wars themed charity adoption event last December. It was fun, fluffy and nerdy!

Excellent care for a very reasonable cost! We had a luxating patella fixed for a third of the price of other vets in town.

Their demeanor is very insensitive and callous, which tends to happen when you start to view patients as parts. I took my runt cat in because she was having diarhea. I told the doc we have limited resources. Doctor Adams saw her and suggested that she may have a sensitive stomach or possible IBS, and if the food did not work, she would see if a script would work. I was told by the tech, Gerrick, that I could call and give an update on her condition to get a script. 2 weeks passed and no improvement. I called for the script, and the "office manager" said I have to bring her in, again (another $70). I've spent thousands of dollars with them, and this is the loyalty I get. I have a sick cat, and now I'm out over $100 bucks with nothing to show for it... $70 for a visit, plus the food, and no medical treatment. I want a refund.

My dog was on the incorrect usage until I verified with another vet the CORRECT dosage. This vet fired me and my 3 dogs in the middle of treating them for major medical disorders. I believe she did this because she was not experienced enough to treat them properly. I found error after error. She's an unethical practitioner. She is high strung and very insulting. She takes 100% of your money (she's one of the most expensive vets in Tucson) but offers only 50% or less care. And she does NOT care for her patients nor their families. She refuses to answer questions like dietary needs or tests and procedures that need to be done. She misdiagnosed and mistreated all 3 of my dogs. I would not use Kayla Boyer she is terrible and has really gone downhill over the years. She's nasty and refuses to answer important questions because she lacks capability and knowledge. A different veterinary Dr. Recently, my senior dog had a bit of a health emergency. The young vet was brazenly arrogant, and my entire body felt anxious when dealing with her. She made a threat to report me and have him taken from me if I did not vaccinate him, prior to first checking to make sure he was ok. It was maddening. His immune system was already taxed and he's been rapidly going down hill since. She actually refused to give me any vaccine information and I believe in my soul she actually misled me to the type of vaccine he received. He nearly died a few days later. He was not a candidate. He needed care and attention, and instead was received coldly and cruelly. It was an absolutely disconnected and strange experience. It left my friend and I horrified. This place is a money hustle and their new young vet lacked kindness and empathy. It was a dark experience. We have since found a lovely vet to assist with his recovery, who is cordial and kind... and most of all puts us all at ease. Encanto, you may want to make sure your Vets actually like animals or can at least pretend to care about each animal without bias or judgement: I'd give this place a 0 for medical care, however, the front desk staff has always been kind and accommodating. Suggestion: perhaps don't make threats to a loving pet owner with a senior dog they love with their whole soul, in a crisis. Just start there. Integrity, transparency and decency go a long way in life and business.

Dr. Benitez did 3 needle biospsies and 4 slide smears to determine whether the mass was of concern or not. Dr. Benitez said he'd be able to get me the results of the slides that day or within a short period of time. During the 2 weeks I awaited that promised call, I called several times to talk to him and was finally told that he works only 1 or 2 days per week. I expressed my frustration as I thought he or your office staff might have led with that. When he called, two weeks later, he said he didn't find anything on the slides. He also informed me I needed to pay to have the needle samples sent to the lab ( I was shocked that no one had contacted me earlier) I paid and he told me they'd take a few days to get back. After a week, I called again and was told Dr. Benitez was not working that day and asked to talk to the manager (who was extremely rude and unhelpful) but she said the results were in (no one had called me). I told her to have another DVM call me with the results and Dr. Anne called me to tell me the good news was that the samples were not cancerous. I've now taken my cat to a reputable surgeon and the results are that my cat has Subcutaneous Hemangiosarcoma. The mass was cancerous! I paid nearly $600.00 and waited 3 weeks from my initial visit only to receive erroneous results.
