    The smoker...
    Victoria P.

Ohhh... where to start??? This has always been (and hopefully always will be) one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. Back in the day, Santa Fe was on Frenchman in the Marigny, and it was the top player in the city as far as Mexican food went. Then it closed (boo-hoooo ). Santa Fe eventually reopened in its current location on Esplanade, which makes this a much more accessible place for a Lakeview girl! AND It's divine!!! There is no wrong selection here! Everything on the menu is delicious. I love the Tableside Guacamole and their Ceviche is the best ever!!! The seafood dishes are mouth watering, and so are their more traditional appetizers and entrees. OMG... the tamales!!! I do recommend that you tread carefully through their drink menu. The bartenders are some of the best in the city, and those drinks will sneak in and strait mess you up without warning... not in a polite, delicate way, more like in a wake-up-the-next-morning-in-your neighbor's-Christmas-manger-scene kind of way (I did not do that, but that's where I found my friend at 6AM. She was clinging to a wise man and holding Baby J like a Heisman trophy football!). I digress. We went back the next day for the best Sunday Brunch in the city and a little hair of the dog. You just cannot go wrong here! I LOVE LOVE LOVE SANTA FE!

    Bean dip

So good! For real! The bean dip stole the show from the very beginning, and it only got better! I had the sweet potato and chicken bowl, and it was beautifully presented as well and delicious. It was plenty of food, and I took about half home for another meal. The price is reasonable, and it is located in a cute part of town. Our waiter was kind and made sure we had everything we needed. I hope to become a regular here.

    Nice patio, Nice weather 12/27

Just cuz the owners do it doesn't make it ok!!! (Like Molto Mario) It is illegal to smoke within 25 ft of an entrance and with (3) women holding (not even smoking) nasty cigarettes like the Statue of Liberty I felt sick. The wind was blowing their smoke for 20ft into this plastic corralled patio. That's like if I go upwind and light 5 cigars- I could empty that patio. Take heed. Oh the food. Aside from the cigarettes, We got moved next to a cleaning station. I was so terrified of my pet peeve (spraying the table and 1/2 the restaurant) I took the bottle of sanitizer with the dirty rags all over it and put it where it belongs (In a bathroom closet) Aside from all of the challenges, the food was "ok" It's $3 for a bowl of salsa that comes with the cold chips (at least put then in the microwave for 10 seconds) I don't think it was worth having to wait an hour for food and the Margaritas are $9 for about 10 oz. In the meantime. And when the food came out (the cheese on the quesadillas was yellow and "hard as a rock" from being kept somewhere for a 1/2 hour.

The blacked redfish tacos. The side toppings are what make these especially good because you're in control of what goes on your tacos. Yum!

Food is consistently good and the ambiance is the cutest. It's a great place for outdoor seating especially when the weather's good. The service is good as well. The chef used to create daily specials but that has stopped. I missed the specials. Otherwise it would've gotten 5 stars.

This the entrance to your establishment so before you assume I wast my time again like your server did make sure

Let us begin with just because a person look a certain way way they should not be over look the idea that we felt so uncomfortable and unwanted in this establishment is to say the least the only thing we had order was drinks a ice coffee and a lemonade all though those were very good the service was what made us leave and not continue their we as for a little bit more time to decide not 35 min later and not even check up on us at all pass by us like he didn't see us and I can tell if we were not wearing the right type of attire he might want for a tip that being said the icing on the cake is when my partner ask for the check an the waiter muddier under his breath a wast of time really yes mine and double down and told him please don't be sticker shock when you look at the bill really we work for a living and do very well for ourselves sir the answer to you question we ask your serve for it and he made it so for you to try an call me a lier is icing on the cake. The service was horrible and rude and then you come on here to insult me more wow

Cute little spot. I've only sat at the bar the two times I've been. Food is pretty good. Service is somewhat. First time I went I had the whole fish with rice & veggies. Second time I went I had the beef enchiladas. Both dishes were good. I'd definitely go back as there are other items I want to try. Def gonna bring my man or a buddy next time. Margaritas are pretty good as well.

Do they have a taco Tuesday special?

Thank you for your question. We do not have a taco Tuesday special as such, however, we always offer 1 and 1 choice of softshell crab, oyster, shrimp, brisket, grilled…

Is there still a happy hour here?

Yes! 4-6 Mon-Friday. Half off margaritas (and other drinks like sangria and wine, I believe). But I only go for the margs lol.

I've ordered from Uber Eats plenty of times, but this was my first time actually dining in, and I'm so glad I did. It's a small, cozy spot where you can actually see the food being cooked. It gives "grandmas and aunties are in the back making sure every plate is seasoned with love," and honestly... that's exactly what it tastes like. This time I tried the beef liver with onions and bell peppers, and it was SO good. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked just right. Can we talk about the rice for a second? I don't know what they cook it in, but it has to be some kind of broth because it is hands down some of the best rice I've ever had. Every grain is perfectly cooked. It's not gummy, not hard... just perfect. The refried beans? Absolutely incredible. I brought some home and literally had to hide my leftovers from my daughters because they kept trying to eat my food. I've also had their beef soup (the short rib soup), and it's one of my favorites. Their pupusas are delicious, the pickled cabbage that comes with them is addictive, and the sweet plantains are amazing. I ordered a mojito too. It wasn't super strong, but it was refreshing and paired really well with the meal. The service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, and I found out they have free Wi-Fi and a rewards program, which I never knew because I usually order delivery. If you're looking for authentic Honduran food in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and check out Tía Maria's Kitchen. Everything I've tried has been consistently delicious, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

It was busy at lunchtime, but it gave us time to reflect on the hard work that led to two of my daughters matching in great residency programs. Two years ago, we also celebrated another amazing match day with a friend who flew in from San Francisco to help our family celebrate. I had the San Pedro Maduro. A deep fried plantain filled with veggies, black beans, avocados, crema and queso. I had mine with chicken. One of my daughters did hers with more veggies. Absolutely delicious! My family ordered a wide variety of papusas and tacos. Definitely add an agua Fresca. Loved the horchata, but the favorite was the moracuya. Blackberry and passion fruit. So refreshing and delicious. Muchas gracias for welcoming our family and friends into your cocina familiar. We loved enjoying your family's kitchen on a special day celebrating another chapter of our family's journey. #2800
