They updated their menus; they are neater in appearance and obviously looking much cleaner than the old ones. Looking at previous menu pics, the prices have also increased by at least a dollar from what I notice- You can compare to older pics. Came a little before 1pm today and was seated right away, although it was a little bit of a wait before we were waited on(drinks would've been great for the wait) we were seated out back and it's where the employees seem to take their breaks or where larger parties are usually seated. The tables were not cleaned before or after we were seated and had crumbs and water rings scattered across. One of the plates had leftover food stuck to it(gross). Must say I'm just a little disappointed compared to usual visits and busy or not, who wants to sit at a dirty table and eat off of a dirty plate(I didnt). The table could have been quickly cleaned by the girl who seated us, but she just took her cell phone and drink off the table and left, completely ignoring the mess that was left behind. She was nice, but careless . The aroma outside is still heavenly and the food is the same, very tasty. I will agree with another yelper that the cornmeal on the bottom was a hit more than I remember. I will still come back and just hope for a better experience next time. Oh and if your looking for overly sweet or even polite customer service , this is NOT the place to be. So I ordered 3 pizzas and 2 sodas for my son's 3rd Birthday. When my food arrived via Door Dash. The pizzas were all upside down and all over the boxes. After paying $60 for the food, I was furious. I called the restaurant and without hesitation they said come back up and we'll have 3 fresh pizzas for you. They didn't care about seeing the pizzas or anything. Considering we are from FL and up visiting family this experience made it all that much better. We will definitely be ordering in the future when we come to visit. Disgusting! I called to order a pizza and the girl on the phone was barely listening to a word I said. We got there to pick it up and they had to keep bringing pizzas out because they were wrong. When we finally got it back to the hotel and opened it, it looked as if it had been sitting there 4 hours with extremely stale crust and like it had been re-heated... The food is pretty good, but the service is awful. I am part of two car clubs the bigger of the clubs used to go there fairly often as it was central and has a big side parking lot. We would often have 20 or more members show up. You would think with a big group like that we would get great service. But no they were rude and insulting to us. We stooped going a few years ago. Last night myself and 5 other members from another car club went there. They made one pizza wrong and forgot one pizza. When we asked they told us we were wrong, the pizza was right, and the other guy never ordered a pizza. But dude if you want it will make you one. When I first came here I found out very quick that the place was loud and I would often hear something in the kitchen sounding like plates falling on the ground. When I got the food it did not look appetizing, and when I tried it, I was right it was horrible. The cheese felt burnt and greasy. I'm a big of Pizza. Also a big fan of Santarpio's. Prefer the Original East Boston location but Peabody is more convenient for quick takeout. The pizza is excellent but my timing was a little off today. I took a half hour to get there and the pizza was kinda cold. Probably should have a system for keeping the pizza a little warm for a short while. Other than that I highly recommend you visit both locations. Great atmosphere. Great pizza. And love the sausage and lamb tips. Sit down, relax and eat in if you can. read more

I read somewhere that Santiarpos and Regina battle it out for the top spot, but it's no contest. If you can make a better pizza in a mall, you have no chance. The food here is bland and may look appetizing, but lacks the magic juice that you find in iconic regional pizzerias. The steak tips are nice, but if you couple this with the awful MA hospitality you find in places that are mismanaged in the area, you get a bottom ranking. I always get the pizza but I said you know what let's see how the sausage is so I got a sausage with hot peppers and it was great very great. The main thing to focus on is the pizza the pizza is amazing the sauce to cheese ratio is outstanding and the sauce is so delicious I could swim in a bathtub full of it is come out feeling like I was straight out of Italy!! Me and a few friends decided to try this place since I've heard it was good. Well it's not! The first this is the bread, which was cold. There was no oil or butter to eat it with, only hot peppers. The pizza was so soggy that when I picked up a slice, everything fell off. We also got steak tips and they were so bland it was like eating raw meat. You had to drown it in salt to make it taste edible. The service was great but I wish the food was too. I was really disappointed in the food, will not be coming here again. read more

We were traveling and meant to go to Santarpio's in Boston but I did not pay attention when I put in the location on Google Maps and well traffic was terrible and were hungry so we decided to stay here. The pizza was just ok. The crust was too thick for me but it was actually pretty good tasting and it was crisp. The rest of the pizza was too salty and I just did not enjoy their tomato sauce. Service was efficient but not friendly at all. I wish I had payed better attention to the address when put in Santarpio's. Oh well. Maybe I'll be back in Boston one day. read more

Been to this location a few times hoping to have the pizza I get at their East Boston location but it never tastes anywhere close. The lamb skewers are great just like the East Boston location. Don't know what the difference is with the pizza and other people on Yelp like the Peabody location's pizza but I think it's just barely edible. I love the hometown locals feel of this place - reminds me of the type of low key neighborhood pizza joint I grew up going too outside Philly. The menu is limited: pizza, some meat options and salad. The pizza is very tasty, though I find their best option is without toppings for some reason - plain or extra cheese. The sauce, crust, dough and cheese all come together very well. My favorite thing here though is their steak tips. They come with five or six tips, cooked to order. When ordered medium rare, they come out deliciously juicy. They are served with crusty bread with a chewy inside - I actually like to put some of the tips inside the bread, and use the rest to soak up the juices. On the side are super spicy cherry peppers that go perfect with a cold beer. Other meat options include lamb tips, zesty lamb sausage and regular sausage. I have not tried these yet but have to assume they are just or nearly as good. These are all cooked to order on a grill visible to patrons. The nice big bar in the middle of the upper section of the restaurant is a nice place to chill with a beer and watch sports with the locals. Service is good if a little gruff/indifferent. read more

Rave all you want about your favorite nouveau wood fire fancy schmancy pizza venue and then try Santarpio's. This is a no frills pizza joint, so if you're looking for something even slightly upscale this is not your spot. You don't come to Santarpio's for the atmosphere or the service, you come here for the food. You only have a few things to choose from; pizza, barbecue, or a garden salad. We had a skewer of italian sausage, a skewer of steak tips, a pizza and a garden salad. It was just enough for 3 people. The sausage is made in house and was absolutely amazing. The steak tips had the perfect barbecue char and were cooked just how we wanted them. The pizza is delicious. When it comes to local famous pizza joints, I still prefer Reginas, but Santarpios is not far behind. The crust was almost perfect. It was crispy, but in some places it was just a tiny bit soggy. The pizza was loaded with a delicious cheese blend and some of the best pizza sauce I have tasted. So good! read more

By far the best pizza I've ever had in Boston (and I'm from the NYC area, I can be quite picky). And wine by the carafe is affordable and refilled by the staff as soon as you run out! Everyone is treated like family by the staff here. You seriously get the most bang for your buck when you haul yourself out to east Boston! Though it truly is one of my favorites for a cheap date night or an urgent pizza craving, I just can't give it higher than 3 stars because of the wait time. Very traditional Italian bbq and pizza. That means the menu is extremely limited. The bbq is pretty good, but the pizza is the best pizza in the state of Massachusetts. Tried the lamb bbq, and hated it. Chewy and flavorless. Gave the bbq a second chance, but tried the steak tips, and loved it. If you like lamb, you might enjoy it, but it wasn't for me. Came in for dinner at 7:50 pm. Was told by hostess there might not be any tables right now because they close at 9pm. O. K. Found us a table next to the dirty dishes cart and the empty beer cases and also the lottery machine which was nice so we could meet all the drinks tripping over our chairs trying to get their keno games in. It seems that some waitresses close their sections early and the customers are crowded into whatever lousy tables remain. Customer service here is second to waitstaff service. I'm sure they won't miss my business but the great service I get in East Boston location is missing in Peabody. read more

Comparing an offshoot location to the original is like comparing father and son: there are similarities in the way they look and what they offer, but growing up in separate generations lends unique conditioning to the overall personality. Nature vs. nurture vs. pizza parlors. Science. So let's start from scratch. A good friend's birthday meant a 20 minute drive to Peabody and Shaun's first experience with a legendary name among Boston's upper crust. For a Sunday at 7:30p, the spacious dining room showed its capacity, and the seemingly bored staff easily sat our party of nine. The menu is simple: one-size pie with standard toppings, including a house made sausage that, in its full size, is available as a barbecue appetizer, along with grilled lamb cubes. Not to miss anything, we ordered three, assorted meat and veggie pizzas (~$15-17 each) and two orders of the mixed barbecue plate ($10 each). Soda for sicky (I suck!) and a couple of $16 chianti bottles for the table. Cheap and drinkable, so goes the nature of the beast. Beer and spirits also available, only they're not listed on the menu. Odd. Bread is served with a plate of cherry peppers. Not sure why a restaurant specializing in arguably the carb-loadiest foodstuff would serve more bread but hey, we are a society of goats. I stuck with the pleasantly spicy peppers and watched as the table jabbed the sliced demi-loaves like curious kids who stumble upon roadkill. DISGUSTING SIMILE PATROL! Per order, we're served a single sausage and four or five cubes of lamb, in addition to more bread (stop already!) Decent spice to the properly cooked link, but the lamb left much to be desired. Another free refill on your soda? Yes, please! Finally the pizzas arrive -- aromatic mediums, reverse engineered (dough, toppings, cheese, sauce) on a sturdy, charred crust. The perimeter ring has the texture of anisette toast, a palate-shredding change from doughier competition. Would love to see an extra side of their chunky sauce for dipping come standard with every pie. The handles beg for it. What's best about their signature dish is its rustic, truly homestyle taste. It feels like a pizza you'd labor over, and like oysters, chicken wings and whole lobsters, labor makes things taste better. While a little undersized and undertopped for the price, that x-factor offers a hearty counterbalance. A healthy bump for the staff's patience and attentiveness. Cups never emptied and all questions were answered thoroughly. We had a loud group and with any congregation of 6 or more people in Peabody, it's law to share strip club stories, which we did. Ish got real, and we apologized on the way out but were never eyeballed for being "that table." If I made a day trip to this neck of the woods, Santarpio's may very well be a part of it. Well, I'm a West coast gal, so you know that all pizza out here is going to garner more stars from me, cause you know how it's done! Santarpio's lived up to the hype (from relatives, Yelp, and our own built up can't-wait-to-eat-East-Coast-pizza-pee-pee-dancing). Service was excellent: friendly & unobtrusive. Bonus for being able to seat our party of 8 right away. Personal favorite is the sausage, mushrooms, peppers - just a perfect blend of ingredients with no one item overwhelming another. The sauce and crust are delicious (herby sauce and slightly yeasty crust) YUM! Minor room for improvement: small beverage selection (i.e. no milk, no unsweetened iced tea) & one overcooked pizza (black on top in places). However, the overall experience is great: a comfortable, family-style restaurant with excellent pizza. read more

a 6 year old, my parents, and me Monday around 2pm Ordered 2 sausages took 20 minutes. They come awkwardly on a plate with a little shriveled pepper and some dry, old tasting bread. at the same time we had ordered he sausages we also ordered a small plain cheese pizza took 35 minutes, The pizza wasn't even hot when we were served... the crust was burnt and the rest of the pizza was soggy ... to the point where i only ate one slice. (and pizza is my fave food) Pepsi is always a downfall for me... so that pissed me off as well. No coke or coke products. was not busy at all, but our waitress was too busy loudly chatting with a coworker to pay attention to our needs. the decor is old, and tacky... its all the stuff from bennigans pretty much. from what i remember there is minimal changes. Both times I found their pizza to be good [even if a bit oily], their location to be very convenient, and clean [although it still looks like a beaten up Bennigan's, which is what it was before Santarpio's took over]. Their staff was very friendly and I enjoyed chit-chatting with them all. But my one gripe is that when I received my credit card statement in the mail, they overcharged me on my tip, which is completely unacceptable. Never rip off the customer! A tip, whether good or not so good, is at the discretion of the customer, not the employee. If you don't like what I tip [and I have been known to tip very well, when it is earned] then perhaps the customer service profession is not for you. I have a copy of my receipt as proof, so for an employee to break the law and fatten their own tip is outrageous and insulting, not to mention ILLEGAL! Santarpio's, the original, is the best pizza in Boston, if not the world. A revelation in pizza. I remember the first day I saw that they were opening a Peabody location, closer to home. I bit my knuckles, terrified that this would be the beginning of the end for a pie that embodies what everybody in Boston is willing to drive to Eastie for. I knew it was a risk. What if it wasn't as good? What if the pizza wasn't what I remember? The ovens would be new! The waitstaff would be new and unexperienced in the ways of sass! I waited month after month. Then delay after sad delay. I drove by the new location... dooshy to say the least: a big former chain restaurant carbon copy. I grabbed those Rosary beads and prayed that Santarpio's would find success in Peabody. And my prayers were answered. At four o'clock on a Saturday, the place was packed, obviously experiencing a continuous rush that would make any waiter walk into the kitchen and slap any woman that looked like his momma. We waited about a half hour and enjoyed a beer at a oddly freezing cold corner of the bar. Soon after, the hostess seated us (a party of 2) at a table for four. Our waiter passed nervously by the table moments later. Then again. Then he respectfully asked if it would be alright to move us to a deuce nearby. Of course! I like to see servers nicely ask patrons to move so that they can get more bodies in a restaurant that is obviously popular. Good move. While I miss the baby food jars filled with dried pepper flakes, we ordered a combo plate and a cheese pizza, just like we would at the original. While waiting, we walked around the restaurant, a little bummed that there were no photos of boxing stars or signed photos... but assured that if the food was good, perhaps they would start their own history in pictures on the walls of the new restaurant. Soon after, our combo plate arrived. The sausage was just as peppery with the smell of smoke as the original. The same went for the lamb. I couldn't be happier...though still concerned for the quality of the pie. When the pizza arrived, it was excellent. Same cheese, same dough, same exceptional sauce. A magic combination of perfection, sprinkled with the cooties of fairies, and assuring me that the ovens were in the process of breaking in. It was worth the wait for everything to get installed correctly, and the cheese pizza was just fantastic. Just a few recommendations, as there looks to be a few (ok, more than a few) bad reviews. 1) Give it time. We know it still looks a little lame compared to East Boston. 2) The wait can be long, because people are eager to try this place out. Come off of peak time, and it won't be all that bad. 3) This crust is thin, but can get weighed down by tons of toppings...i.e., soggy. I don't order cheese from my local pizza delivery service... but I do here, because it's perfect, and let's you taste a perfect crust. 4) Eat in house. Don't order out, because you might not get a perfect pizza and then you're opinion would be skewed! And that would be a cryin' shame! 5) Don't complain about a small menu. You sound like a doosh uninitiated to the ways of Santarpio's. The first time I went to the original Santarpio's, I didn't know I could love pizza so much. And now, with a little bit of time, I hope that the Peabody location will pick up the character of the East Boston institution... because let's think about it, Peabody has some character too! Just left Santarpio's in Peabody for lunch. I've been to the East Boston location so many times and I love love love the pizza and the staff there. With that said, the Peabody location had the absolute worst service I've had at a restaurant. For a while we were the only ones there for lunch and the waitress still ignored us. We saw her 3 times, once to order the pizzas, once to check in after we were basically done with our pizza and get us one refill on drinks and then we ended up getting the hostess to get her to get our bill because we had waited so long to get her attention. She didn't make eye contact our way once the whole time and when she came for our bill she had the most condescending attitude I've ever heard. I've never complained at a restaurant or written a bad review, but it was so bad and rude I had to! I definitely won't be going back to this location and makes me think twice about supporting the other location too. Very disappointing. read more

I have been told to try Santarpio's for years and finally took the leap on Sunday night where despite the Pats losing, my pizza game gained a W. We got the "works" pizza and it did not disappoint (no anchovies). The cheese was sharp and the crust was seasoned (Where you at Regina?).
