Sweet sopapillas are great with or without honey.

Finally get to check this historic New Mexican restaurant off my list! Walking in we were greeted and seated in a very bright dining room. The service here was really good except for one thing. We ran out of chip's before we finished our salsa and guacamole. The waitress didn't come back til she brought our food so we never got a chance to ask for more. The tacopilla is a large fry bread folded in half full of beans and your choice of meat for $1.75 more. It was full of guacamole and sour cream and came with a side of both red and green chile. I thought it was really good. I ordered a chile relleno on the side and it was the one thing I really didn't like because it seemed to be of the frozen box type of rellenos. I don't believe it was freshly made. Lots of restaurants use these types of rellenos. Anyhow, I ordered some sopapillas and I'm not going to lie to you, they were the best I've ever had. They were soft, fluffy and sweet before I even put honey in them! I ate the whole basket! I've never had natillas and when I asked the waitress about them she brought us a bowl of it for free! I now like natillas! This was a great restaurant to come to for the first time today. I'd definitely come back even though it was a little expensive. $48 for me and my daughter before tip. Two thumbs up from me!

We had not been at Abulitas on Isleta for several years. Decided to give it a try two days ago, went there and what a disappointment! The food was cold. It took over 35 minutes to get our lunch and when we brought home 2 pints of Natillas to eat, they were spoiled! They tasted like lime, horrible, horrible horrible will not be eating there again .. $16.50 a pint and in the garbage it went!

ABUELITA's New Mexican Kitchen is a delicious dining experience in the South Valley. For starters, we ordered Chips and Salsa, Chile con Queso and the Guacamole Salad. Everything - the salsa, the cheese, the guacamole - was very tasty - even the chips were crispy and flavorful. For main dishes, I ordered the Beef Fajitas and my wife ordered the 3-Taco Plate - both meals were perfectly cooked - and the portions were big! We weren't planning on dessert, but their "Yum Yum Cake" sounded intriguing - and it was indeed very Yummy Yummy! Service was excellent and prices extremely reasonable. The dining room exuded a strong 'south western' ambience. We'll be back! Highly recommended.

The only down side to this Tacopia was figuring out how to eat it!

Yes, I get the hype, and in my opinion, totally worth it!…read more I came here on a Sunday night and they were very busy. The place is huge so they have plenty of tables available. I stood on line to order for maybe 10 minutes or so. I had the Carne Adovada Burrito, one soft Beef Taco, and rice and beans. Everything was excellent and tasted delicious. The price was very reasonable. I wish we had a restaurant like this on Long Island.

Directly across the street from University of New Mexico's main entrance, this place is packed when school is in session. This place is huge, but not at first glance. Walk into the retro-looking, Western themed dining room, and you'll see a huge menu board above the order counter. There is are several freestyle soda machines in the middle of the room. There are little digital screens in the corner where you watch for your order number and a counter in the corner where you go pick up your food. It's not until you go into the next room that you discover there is another "next room," and then another. There is a lot of art on the walls, including several John Wayne pictures. The girl at the counter who took our order was an absolute ray of sunshine--so friendly and sweet. We ordered the green chili cheeseburger with onion rings and the daily special which is the "green pile-up" (beans, hash browns, scrambled egg, and green chili beef). The good came our talented quickly, and was quite yummy. Frontier is an Albuquerque classic. If it old? Yes, but it has a huge faithful following, not including the things of UNM students that pack this giant diner during the school year. It may not be a "must try" for some, but if you want Albuquerque nostalgia, this is your place. Btw--it's pretty darn cheap,!

Nice choice of fancy high-end margaritas, but their mix is way too artificial tasting, without much if any fresh lime juice. The cheap margarita mix and industrial tortillas alone would have been enough to prevent a return visit. We have done so much better on previous visits here. On top of that, service was in full-on meltdown mode. Table next to us, which had been seated and served drinks before we arrived, was having words with the server about how long their food was taking. "Will it even be hot," she asked. After we had ordered and been served drinks, and ordered and been served food, they finally threw a few crumpled bills on their still-empty table and walked. My combo plate was completely wrong, and my wife's fajitas lacked the sour cream she ordered and the tomatoes and pico de gallo that were supposed to come with it. Wait staff blamed the kitchen rather than owning the mistakes on behalf of the restaurant. Took five minutes, and two requests, for my wife to even get her tiny container of sour cream. Table on the other side of us also had some problem; we heard the sever telling them that some item they ordered would be comped. They did comp my combo. But that's three adjacent tables poorly served. Not coming back.
