It's a solid Italian deli and a classic staple of the Four Corners area. Their food isn't transformative, but everthing I've tried - mostly subs - has been good. The staff is also very friendly. I will agree with another reviewer that sometimes the front of house staff can play a little loose with the face masks, which is a big no no in MoCo (and should be everywhere). Place used to be awesome. Wanted to go back for the first time in years today, so we tried calling ahead. I got put on hold for literally ten minutes, and when I called out to remind that I was still in the line, I was hung up on. When we got to the store, I was surprised they weren't terribly busy. I feel like they just didn't want to take my order, and left me on hold so the phone line would be busy. The final straw was that as soon as we got to the counter, the guy answered the phone and took somebody's order. Wild. Maybe the food is still good. No idea. Driving now to try out a different place. Very Disappointing, I ordered two subs, a Rubin, and Egg Salad. Besides a very long wait, about 45 mins (phoned in the order and waited 30 mins and another 15 in the shop) the Rubin meat was bad and looked very "old", had a rotten taste and the egg salad should have been called a lettuces sub because that was all there was. read more

When I called in my order, I was given 20 minutes as the estimate of when it would be ready. After 45 minutes my order was ready. I had to say hello to the staff before they said anything to me. I looked inside the pizza box only to see onion pizza with a splash of green pepper instead of a mix. The bottom of the pizza was barely cooked! It's as if the pizza was put into an oven that only melted the cheese and left the bread raw. I had to bake the pizza when I got home in order to make it edible. (1/5 stars) I'm giving my review of two stars instead of one for their Italian Cold Cut Sub which is 5 stars and the only reason to come here. The egg salad sandwich was okay, not worth the money. With the poor service and blah food, I'm not sure I'll be returning. I've been coming here for over 10 years so that says a lot! All in all, eat pizza elsewhere. I'm shocked by how bad this deli was based on the outstanding reviews! I ordered dinner through grubhub - a simple eggplant parm sandwich and a white pizza. I was remarkably disappointing by the quality and taste of our food. The eggplant parm sandwich didn't even taste right. I was convinced I was eating plantains ... until I noticed the seeds. Flavor was unappealing. The color was all wrong. I was also shocked that the eggplant wasn't breaded, just fried poorly. The bread was fine. The pizza... don't get me started. You call that pizza??? I call it a glorified frozen pizza. The quality was horrific. You could rip the cheese off and see a bland brick of bread. Nowhere near the quality of pizza I'm accustomed to... I would rather eat dominos. And for a white slice? Where's the ricotta cheese? Chuck E' cheese has better pizza than this place. I had placed an order for four Italian subs, a large chicken Caesar salad, a large antipasti salad, six meatballs, and a meat calzone the first weekend of the month. When I returned the next week, I modified the order and did not include the meatballs (nothing special imo) or calzone (a salt bomb) and asked for the dressing on the side for the two salads. The subs are good but still missing the Jersey element I've grown accustomed to. Still, they worked for a small Superbowl feast. The salads were abundantly dressed the first time around. I'm glad they give bread because I used it to sop up all the dressing. That's why I asked for dressing on the side. One thing I would be curious about is what a small salad looks like; I did not think the large lived up to its name. As for the calzone, the outside was good and I liked that it only needed about 15-20 minutes at 375 degrees in the oven, but it was way too salty for me. That's what will happen with processed and cured meats. Customer service is fine on the phone and in person but the second time I called, they guy who picked up had to ask what the date was for the day I wanted my order (it was the next morning). During the pandemic, there are signs asking customers to wait outside after placing their order. We lingered around a few minutes but when others came in, we waited by the door. Here comes the sandwich, all dressed and sandwich. I think part of the beauty of this sandwich is the parallel layers of meats and cheeses. On both the top and bottom of the sandwich they layer Italian meats and cheese. They sandwich the lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and hot peppers. It makes for not just an aesthetically pleasing sandwich, but a well balanced and bite balanced meal. I also happened to pick up a frozen eggplant parm. Now... I will say that I wish that there were instructions on how to reheat it. I basically kept putting it in the microwave oven for 4 minute spurts and checking it... it probably took 5-7 times of those 4 minute spurts. I was kinda shocked how long it took to come back to full temp and, I'm also sure I lost a little quality. I probably should have set it to the defrost function for some time. Either way... The gentleman behind the cash register was friendly and hand delivered my meal, but honestly the reason I stopped was curiosity. I'm just not sure how this could be the #1 deli in the DC area. Sorry no. If there was Sanitary inspection I don't think they would get a B. Maryland is not able to keep up, but I can tell you this place needs some tender love and care. Santucci's has been a 5-star staple of the Four Corners area for years and has always been a fairly well-oiled machine but after reading a few other reviews here, it seems they're under new management and unfortunately - it shows. Things started off poorly when I called in to place my order - I'd never heard a busy signal at Santucci's but the line was locked for maybe 10 minutes? On my last attempt before seeking lunch somewhere else, a young man answered, said "please hold" and then just put the phone down for another 5 or 6 minutes. Finally placed my order, specified "Chicken - not beef - cheesesteak [with toppings]" to which he replied "ok, uh a steak and cheese, right?" "With CHICKEN please, not beef" "OH!! OK, got it" I was starting to suspect something was really off... Waited the quoted 20 minutes (normal) and went to pick up my order. Stood in a line of only four people for about 15 minutes while the new guy behind the counter just walked back and forth in a feeble attempt to locate ANYTHING for anyone's order. Eventually new guy starts taking in-person orders again and after the line starts to move a little bit, someone (who I now understand to be the new owner) comes from the back to the second register and I'm finally able to say that "I'm here to pick up a phone order for Josh - 2 subs and a large fry". This guy looks all over the place, grabs a single sub for Jeff and shows it to me - I spell my name for him, restate the order and he keeps looking. After a minute, new guy starts helping him. They check through all the subs in the food warmer right behind them - I can see what I am pretty sure is my meatball sub right next to what I suspect is my wife's cheesesteak, these guys actually pick up both subs, look at the ticket and somehow determine that one of the subs was not made, so they go start harassing the ladies making the sandwiches who insist they made it. A few more minutes of clusterfuck go by and eventually new guy "finds" our subs right where they were in the first place. At this point we are 45 minutes from the time I placed my order, I've literally been standing there for 20 minutes waiting for them to hand me a thing. The food was cold, but there wasn't a chance in hell I would risk asking them to re-make anything. Once we warmed it up in the toaster oven a bit, it was as tasty as usually but dear god the customer service has gone straight down the toilet. I recognized one of the original Santucci's employees behind the counter but it seems that the ladies who ran the phones and registers are no longer there and their absence has definitely taken something from the business. I am a tough reviewer so 4 stars is really good. What I love about Santucci's is the local atmosphere / vibe, with local young adults working the counters. The meatball subs are great, my wife really enjoys the Club. It is very convenient for a quick bite when you want lunch or early dinner. The service is what you would expect from a local deli, don't expect white linens or table service, but expect friendly and courteous staff that wants to get you your food quickly and take the next order. Took my girlfriend here for the first time a few days ago, and it was a big disappointment. We ordered a chicken salad and tuna salad sandwich. The chicken salad was decent. The tuna salad barely had a dollop of tuna salad and appeared nearly flat. It really looked like a horrible field trip sandwich or something they probably served at the Fyre Festival. Fantastic Italian deli--love love love it. My personal favorite is the turkey sub. Sounds simple, but it's so much more! Fresh, thinly-sliced, oven-roasted turkey with crisp lettuce, perfect tomatoes, mayo, and a delightful surprise: hot peppers! The peppers totally transform what would be a very simple turkey sub into what has become my addiction. I crave this sandwich--the bread, the freshness, the heat... I love it. The service is friendly and efficient, and calling for a pick-up is easy, peasy. Parking in the lot can sometimes be the only thing that slows you down, but I promise it's worth it! Pretty good food, but I initially had reservations about the safety of it. I called ahead and placed an order for a Reuben, a Caesar salad, and order of french fries, and an order of mozzarella sticks. I felt comfortable ordering from here after reading their notice about their covid protocols, as well as reading positive perspectives from other Yelp patrons. However, I was very surprised to arrive and find that none of the front of the house staff had on mask. I was ready to cancel my order and walk out right then, until I saw that the kitchen staff were wearing masks. That made me feel a little bit better about the safety of what I was eating. The staff were nice, and the service was prompt and polite, but I would have felt much more comfortable and safe conducting my business with staff who had masks on, especially since Montgomery County has experienced an increase in covid numbers and will be reinstituting their mask mandate/requirement / whatever they're calling it now in 2 days. But I digress... As for the food, the Reuben sandwich was okay. I've had better, and I've had worse, but it was nothing to write home about. The Caesar salad was good, but I did not expect the bacon. To be fair, after going back and looking at the menu it did say that the salad comes with homemade bacon crumbles, however since I've never had a Caesar salad with bacon before, it definitely didn't occur to me to read the ingredients list check for bacon. I also don't eat pork, so you can imagine how fun it was to have to pick all the pork pieces out of my salad in order to eat it. Post pork it was a good salad. And if I'm really honest, the bits of bacon that I had to spit out DID give salad a nice flavor. But it wasn't worth getting sick over so yeah... Had to spit it out. The french fries were really good. Nice and crispy and dusted with Old Bay. I love my fries that way and there are not enough places in the area that serve Old Bay fries. They are one of the best kept secrets of this Maryland. Definitely try some if you haven't already. The mozzarella sticks were also really good. Nice size and perfectly fried. Cheesy, salty goodness. Can't go wrong with the classic. This place was tough to find, and I drove around in circles for a while during rush hour looking for it. I expected a stand-alone business, but it is actually in the shopping center across the street from the Red Maple restaurant. I believe there's a Walgreens drug store in the shopping center, as well as some other businesses; hopefully having those landmarks in mind will make it easier to find. read more

A very sad day for 4 Corners and our beloved Italian deli! I've been going to Santucci's for 10 years and they used to be amazing and a go too for my family. It appears ownership has changed, completely new staff, and the quality is not there. I ordered my usual steak and cheese, but it wasn't good. The french fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The 4% credit card processing fee is back as well. I don't expect to go back until ownership changes again or they get the old staff back to run it! read more

This review is based solely on the Italian sub ... I have been searching for a truely excellent Italian sub for years, possibly decades. I've found a few that weren't bad, or pretty good, but it wasn't until I ordered from here that I was really happy. (I waited until I ordered 3 times, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.) Just the right amount of fillings (I do order extra lettuce), all I need to do is order it "with everything, extra lettuce" and it's as close to perfect as any I've had. Ordered food on Friday around noon for 5:00. At 4:52 they sent me a notification canceling my order. 2 weeks previous I had arrived to pick up my food. The steak and cheese was ready but the tuna was not. Only one other customer in the store and no one was making sandwiches. I waited 20 minutes for my tuna and asked again. Waited 10 more minutes to get the tuna. When I got home, I found that the steak and cheese was dry, had no cheese, had no mayo and was cold. For what used to be a five-star deli they have certainly gone downhill. read more

For starters this place is one of those hole in the walls that you can't undermine just by the look of it. I went in ordered for the first time was craving a sandwich and thought why not, gave the veggie sandwich a try with added mozzarella cheese and let's just say I didn't even make it to my office before eating the whole thing in my car. I am so glad I chose this over the subway that was literally a couple doors down after trying the sandwich from here I seriously don't even know how subway is in business. The only mistake I made on my part was getting rye bread which was toasted to perfection but it became messy and with all their juicy goodness that the sandwich brought it was definitely more for a sub instead of two slices of bread. So next time cause yes there will be a next time I will order a little differently according to whatever ingredients I do decide on getting. read more

This deli is always busy and very consistent. I searched hard and long for a great place that makes amazing hoagie's. Being from Jersey/ Philly we had the best bread and hoagie's.
