The Applewood Roasted Peking Duck is hands down the best I've had in North America. The cocktail menu is very creative--try the 'Mott St. Sour'. The ambiance inside the Fairmont is dark, moody, and very chic. Perfect for a special celebration! read more

We made a reservation for dinner during our week stay here, which was on a Tuesday. It wasn't very busy. Service was really good. We shared everything and they did not mind. We had plenty of time between courses and our waters were replenished. We shared a cocktail because we had been drinking wine all day. I wanted the sourdough bread. It was so good. I was not disappointed and I am a sourdough baker myself. I would recommend the bread. The tuna appetizer was really surprising. They pound the tuna really thin so it's one huge piece! It was a delicious carpaccio. I've never had it like that before. The salad was fresh and had a lot of interesting ingredients. Very lightly dressed. For dinner, I wasn't very hungry so we shared the dish. It was phenomenal. And my husband had the ice cream for dessert. The presentation of the ice cream wasn't over the top lol but again, it's just a seasonal ice cream. It was good. Everything was great. We would eat here again. I heard breakfast is amazing. It's nice to have a great hotel restaurant so you can have a chill evening during a very busy wine tasting week. read more

Had the pleasure of dining at Santé earlier this month to celebrate an anniversary. Service was impeccable and we were delighted to be greeted with sparkling wine to ring in this special occasion. We started off with the Local Halibut Crudo, beautifully plated and the perfect small bite. My husband raved about the Trout for his main dish. I ordered the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and paired well with the char and polenta. We finished the dinner with the lovely pineapple upside down cake. We booked the ski chalets at Sonoma Mission Inn and had the best evening even on a super rainy day. The chalets were warm with the fire, very relaxing, and quiet since you are not near other guests. The fondue was incredible and the portions were HUGE, and we also had the fries and one of the flatbreads. Our server was so kind and made the experience very pleasant. We went for Taylor's birthday brunch and had a very nice meal. Breakfast dates are a go-to for us, but I wanted it to be something special, and Sante delivered! We sat on the all season patio overlooking the pool. It's a comfortable well appointed area with heaters available for chilly Sonoma mornings and nights. Both of our entrées were outstanding, drinks were crafted with care, and I can't wait for another special occasion to visit again! Back in the day, Sante was what I considered to be peak Sonoma County fine dining. I loved the ambiance, attention to detail, quality of food, and service. I recall many very fond dining experiences here that I relish, especially the beef brownies, so when Restaurant Week 2023 started up, hubby and I made our reservation to come back. We had the wonderful opportunity to be their first diners, of the first dinner of the first day of their Restaurant Week. I picked that specifically because I wanted to see how things for them were when everything was fresh, all dishes in stock, and to see how they were at their best. We were seated in the corner with great lighting and I had a good view of the entire restaurant. For some reason, our table had crumbs on it, or some kind of grunge which was a weird first impression. As we sat, I looked up into the lighting fixtures and they had cobwebs, which was really disappointing for such a fine dining establishment. For the $55 dinner option for RW, I ordered the Carrots and Turnips appetizer, he opted for the Hamachi, and we both ordered a zero proof cocktail. Our drinks were probably the best part of the dining experience, really well crafted and delicious. My appetizer was well cooked & well seasoned, but his fish had a lot of connective tissue between the pieces of fish which made it challenging to eat. For entrees, I ordered the raviolis with mushrooms and he ordered the black cod. Our entrees were good but not to the level I was honestly expecting for Sante, compared to what I had in the past here. Desserts were even more of a let down, I was so excited about the brie ice cream with the pear tart, and he ordered the carrot cake. My ice cream tasted like a basic very creamy vanilla with no brie notes at all. The tart crust was dry and the pears were wilty and sad. His carrot cake was standard and not very remarkable. Service was really spotty. Our main server was a seasoned gentleman with wonderful dialogue, but he dropped silverware at multiple tables. His communication with his co-server/assistant was very strange, and he was giving the young guy glaring looks when he wasn't attentive at the right times throughout the night. Additionally, there were some strange dynamics with another table and a wine snafu about kosher wine, which was very loud, disruptive and distracting. Overall, I was honestly really disappointed in our experience here for RW. I had such high hopes to share my love of the Fairmont and my love of Sante with my better half, and what a better time than RW?! Unfortunately, however, our experience was much lower than I was expecting. I was sad that this was my better half's first Sante experience when I know historically things have been so much better in food flavors, cleanliness, service, and ambiance. Quite sad, and left me feeling deflated about this and it's history of such a shining gem in the past. read more

Arrived and our table was ready for us. We were sat outside. Staff was very friendly and helpful when we were trying to decide what to order. We ended up starting with the Banana bread with espresso peanut butter. Glad we did it was warm, soft inside and crispy outside. Plus, the butter just made the bread 10 times better. So much flavor and just the right hint of espresso. I got the bacon cheddar scones & gravy with scrambled eggs. The eggs were nice and fluffy and the gravy had a great flavor and creamy. The scone was good but I would of loved it a little softer not as crispy. Mimosa with Gloria Ferrer wine was delicious and did not have too much orange juice. Prices are a little higher, but we expected that since it is a inside an expensive hotel. read more

It was super cold outside and I asked if the heater could be moved closer to me. The server acknowledged my request but No one moved it. The servers were nice but went missing. The apple cider was delicious. The breakfast potatoes were plain and lacked seasoning. My egg whites had no flavor. The bacon was decent. The room service was good and the staff set up the food in front of the fireplace. I ordered a salad the first nice. We heard that Sante was starting the Sunday Supper dinners and we wanted to be there on the first day. We started in the bar with special spritzes created by the bartender, Deb, which were delicious. Our group was seated promptly, and we ordered a bottle of Rose from Arnot Roberts that was amazing, the wine list is extensive, but the server was knowledgeable and able to recommend some great local offerings. We had been to Sante before, but the restaurant looks fresh and chic since the recent renovation. Sean Carscaden, one of our favorite local artists was playing a couple of tables away, the volume was perfect, we were able to have conversations without it being obtrusive. The courses came out "family-style", we never waited for anything but also did not feel rushed. We had a friend join as we were starting the second course, staff was accommodating and moved a table over and got her caught up on the previous course. Since we had seen Sean before, we knew some of his playlist and he allowed us to request some songs. We ordered a bottle of Syrah to have with our main course, and it was perfect. I wish we would have taken some pictures of the food, but we were having such a nice time talking, drinking and eating that it slipped our mind, that's when you know you are having a good dinner. Dessert was strawberry shortcake, totally seasonal from a local farm, paired with a beautiful dessert wine. Totally recommend the Sunday Supper experience, they even have valet parking, and you can sit out front at one of the firepits after dinner. Kudos to Chef Jen. read more

In an effort to offer suggestions to improve the experience, I wish there were more menu selections in general, and an option for changing vegetable, or accompaniment.. for example, if I didn't want a butter bean ragout, I might have had mashed potatoes with my salmon, or pork chop, for example. I would also appreciate more options for wines by-the-glass (especially when my partner may not want the same varietal and a half-bottle or bottle wasn't a good option.) We have dined here multiple times and the meal has always been memorable. Highly recommended! read more

Really delicious, top notch food. Had the onion gratine, oysters and the butternut squash ravioli. Not a huge restaurant which was nice. Only complaint was that the front desk didn't know if the restaurant was open or not on New Year's Day since they are typically closed on Wednesdays - but you could still make reservations via OpenTable. We were able to eat there that night but it was quite frustrating for a Fairmont front desk to be unsure of something like the restaurant being open or not. read more

One of the best meals of my life. The picture doesn't do it Justice! We enjoyed our meal with a variety of wines that were recommended and I couldn't have had a lovelier meal. Parking is easy, restaurant atmosphere is nice. We were tired and decided to stay on the resort grounds for dinner. Overall, the service was prompt, but not really friendly. Our server maybe checked on us twice during the entire meal. In fact, we left to have dessert elsewhere because we were uncomfortable. For a fine dining restaurant inside a Fairmont resort, I was disappointed with our overall experience. The vegan options were minimal and lacked creativity and the regular menu items (my date ordered) were somewhat bland. We ordered the grilled maitake mushrooms, carpaccio, artichoke ravioli and duck fat potatoes. My date enjoyed his carpaccio and potatoes. Had dinner here with my wife on Tuesday night, 3/2/21. So for starters the waiter and his service was outstanding. Their was like only one or two other tables while we were there. My wife had the Mary's Chicken. It was very tasty, seasoned just right and very juicy. This item was a Keeper. I had two starters. One was the Brussels Spouts which were Stupendous. The other was the Shrimp. This was also Stupendous. I would highly recommend both of these items. So the verdict is I Would Highly Recommend this place. After three night of eating at other places in town we decided to try the restaurant in the hotel we were staying at. This place was by far the best meal we had in the four night stay. read more

We had an incredible dinner last night at this place. If there's one thing this place does exceptionally well, it's balancing opposites when it comes to flavors. The service was very good, and the server had a ton of knowledge about the ingredients and where they were sourced. A few of the standouts were the caviar with creme fraiche, the sauce that comes with the steak, the sacher torte strawberries, and the side of onions. The side dish of onions is one of the most memorable things that I ate. The onions are slow cooked (maybe even stewed?) and have the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Eat them with the steak for an awesome flavor combination. The ambiance of the restaurant is okay. The table was worn out, and there was no music, so peoples conversations stood out, which was awkward. read more

This was a special meal! My husband and I dined here to celebrate our anniversary, and it did not disappoint. As a vegetarian, I was expecting one or two items on the menu, but was a happy surprise to have so many options to choose from! The dinner I had at this restaurant was delicious. The steak was seasoned well and was also a large portion so it can be shared. The garlic mashed potatoes had a good consistency and flavor. And the creme brûlée was a great dessert to end the meal with. We also got wine recommendations from the sommelier for the rose and Pinot noir. The wines were good but I think we also could have chosen other wines on our own. Excellent fish and sides, the wines were great wonderful! Second time we ate there was a Thanksgiving Buffet! A lot of food but so much of it I found it a bit distracting. The starters were nice, including sushi and sashimi and caviar. The main courses were great- roast turkey cooked to perfection and prime rib any way you want it done.. delicious! The sides were good but the desserts were very tiny- again so you can try a lot but I would've rather have focused on one slice of traditional pie with a few pie options (given the holiday) They had little tiny tarts and macrons and things like that that were tasty but I was feeling more traditional. All in all, a wonderful meal. Next time I go it won't be for a holiday. But for cooking a lot of food, and serving so many people, over a number of hours,they get an excellent review! . read more

A dusty Travelzoo offer, purchased before the Coronavirus hit, served as recent impetus to brunch in Sonoma. Santé Restaurant, where said brunch took place, is housed in the blissful Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn which is reason enough to head to wine country. Although the brunch offering was perfectly fine - if bland - the real star here was just enjoying the grounds of the Fairmont. That, I can't recommend more highly. But the brunch? Some on here have noted that Santé Restaurant is Michelin-rated which isn't fully accurate. Their web site says it's a recipient of a Michelin "designation" which deeper research reveals to mean that they earned 1 Michelin star in 2012. They are not current (or recent) recipients of a Michelin star. While perfectly adequate, do not go expecting Michelin-starred fare. Santé is currently offering breakfast/brunch on a small outdoor patio near the popular pool. The offerings are pricey (as expected with upscale hotel dining) and nice and when I say "nice" I mean that they are well-executed but not particularly interesting. A Duck Confit Hash ($26) was ample and satisfying. Ditto on Eggs Benedict (with which a larger serving of potatoes would've been welcome). Both suffered from Hollandaise Sauce which lacked the tart lemon tang of excellence. I'd call the food here "smooth" and as one who likes tangy and spicy, this was not that. But let me say a few words about the grounds here: The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn has set up seating on the lawn at the entry. There's a food truck there serving many of the same items being served on Santé's brunch menu. The space there, and the various seating areas around the hotel's exterior, are more distanced from other diners and would make for a wonderful place to enjoy yourself. I would consider returning, board game in hand, to enjoy some food and drink from one of these spaces (or BYOB, as we saw others doing) even if the menu is much the same as Santé's. read more

We came here for dinner. The food is well seasoned and conveniently located within the fairmont. We had the shared rib eye steak that came with wonderful duck fat roasted potatoes. Pasta was decent. Burrata and beets were on point and fresh. Small issues with the iPad that displayed the wine list. Service was good and ambience was delightful on a cold rainy day. Came for a bachelorette/birthday brunch. Wonderful service. We came with a bouquet of flowers and our waitress brought us a vase to put them in. They also gave us some banana bread with a candle in for the birthday girl. A lot of us also ordered the duck confit and it was definitely a crowd favorite. My girl friend who ordered chilaquiles said her portion was a bit on the smaller side. The restaurant itself is very elegant. I loved the comfortable armchair seats. Frankly, I am very shock at the high ratings here because this restaurant failed on the FOOD. It's a Tuscan villa in the heart of Sonoma. Our table for two was set in front of a white casement window steaming natural sunlight on to our white cloth covered table. A perfect Easter Sunday Brunch Setting. Mellissa over server was delightful, supportive of or choices, informative of what was popular and accommodating. For example, the bagel was left sitting a bit too long in the buffet line and therefore dry and hard. When mentioned, Mellissa went into the kitchen got a fresh bagel, toasted it and brought it back to our table with fresh cream cheese. Every time we got up to revisit the buffet for the next course our napkins were refolded and old plates removed. A ten for service. On to the brunch buffet service, with the exception of the dessert section the room was dark and the food was barely distinguishable one dish to the other. The cold cuts, shrimp cocktails, raw oysters, crab in lettuce wrap and lox's were acceptable. The rest of the buffet forced the Rolling Stone's Song "She's so cold" to keep playing in my head for the reminder of my visits to the line in search of that special item. Try to imagine or don't, getting back to my table and digging into a cold crab and kale eggs Benedict or cold dry chicken and waffle, sea bass or worse yet tasteless mushy cold beef tenderloin. To top that off even the scrambled eggs were cold. Can you hear the song now? The redeeming part of the buffet was the dessert section. The pastry chef also named Mellissa out did herself with a variety of Easter Chocolate's and pastries. My guest didn't care much for the heavy lemon infusion into the crème brûlée but I thought it a delightful variation. Getting back to service, our disappointment got back to the food and beverage manager, Suzzie who came to our table. She listened to our subjective recommendations , a live omelet station, fresh un toasted bagels, a toaster. Thanked us and genuinely assured us that our concerns would be addressed, comped our champagne and discounted our bill. Now that's service and a restaurant who wants to see you back again. As a final note Santé's buffet may need some adjustment but as a restaurant and venue it's worth a visit. read more
