Don't really comment on here ever, but had to drop one for this place. Walked by it a few times over last couple of weeks and decided to pop in and give it a go. Got the pork bahn mi and a traditional Thai iced tea. Both items were great, completely reasonable prices (under $20) for food and drink. I've had bahn mi's at multiple restaurants downtown and by far this is the best. Pork was incredibly tender, tons of fresh veggies, sauce was not too heavy. Tim and Gib, the owners, are incredibly warm and welcoming and genuinely make you feel taken care of. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. Great spot for some tasty authentic Southeast Asian food in the area! The team working there is so friendly and they have curated a lovely and warm space to hang out for a drink or a bite in a relaxed setting. My work meeting was nearby so I stopped by for a coffee in the morning and later brought my co-workers with me for lunch. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food. I love Hainan chicken rice, so any time it is on a menu, I will order it to try. Although the chicken felt a little dry for me, I really loved the accompanying sauce and rice. Prices seem fair for the portion size. It looks like they have a ton of other yummy food and drink options so I look forward to returning during my next trip to try something different! read more

And the Pandan cold brew surprised me, it wasn't bitter at all and smooth as heck! The syrup is made in house and added the perfect flavor to the coffee. The service was amazing too! The curry and roti was the best item I tried, but it wasn't served hot as it was room temperature. The Hainanese chicken was slightly tough, rice didn't have much flavor, and the broth was completely flavorless as it just tasted like the water that was used to cook the chicken. The kaya toast was just regular sliced bread with butter/sugar. It would have been better if it was a thick slice of soft and fluffy bread. The drink was really refreshing as an afternoon pick me up and had a nice balance of sweetness and strong coffee flavor. The staff was super nice and the place had a great vibe. So the ladies and I came here for lunch. It was shocking to see a new restaurant but we tried it anyway. I had the chicken sandwich with the light iced americano. My americano was great and well flavored. My sandwich was good but a bit dry. It needed extra sauce. Two of my colleagues ordered the sandwich as well - 1 chicken and 1 pork. I brought my coworkers with me to check out this new place, and we were not disappointed! Upon entering we were greeted by staff and promptly taken care of. I ordered the Hainan Hustle and a classic Thai iced tea. First off, the drink was 10/10! Not overly sweet, and a perfect balance of condensed milk and tea. My food was also a 10/10 - the plating was cute, the food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were perfect. Our food came out super quick, and staff came by to check on us a few times. We were so excited to find this gem! We ordered the breakfast set. The half-boiled eggs were cooked to the perfect consistency and served in a cute Kickapoo glass. 100/10, we will be back a million times. I'm telling all my friends and family it's a top-tier Sacramento spot. I hope they will sell gift cards so I can get some for our kids' teachers at Christmas-time. I've dropped in multiple times during their soft opening, as well as their first week officially open. Current fave offerings are the Jok Sapha and the Oliang, if you want something sweet and refreshing I loved the herbal lemongrass tea iced. The staff are super friendly, and passionate about what they do. The decor is so beautiful - warm and colorful, lots of fun details to find. They have a main menu with lots of variety, as well as some fun new items that I'm working my way through. Now let's get to the food; we ordered the pork skewers to start with, lion city coffee ribs and the Kapow burger. Everything exceeded my expectations, but if i had to rank the items from most to least favorite it would be: coffee ribs then kapow burger and then the pork skewers. This was my first time having coffee ribs and it did not disappoint either. The ribs were very saucy and flavorful. The only complaint i have is that i wish the kapow had more of a kick to it, but other than that it was a good juicy burger. For dessert, we got the pandan waffle. I liked that it was thick and fluffy instead of the typical thin waffle. I also liked that it came with condensed milk and whipped cream so u can dip or pour it to your heart's desire. Came here with my friend for lunch. Place was easy to find and resturant beautifully decorated. We were met by the owner with gave us good information about the menu. I was pretty excited to hear there is another Thai resturant near work. My friend was really excited about coming here because they serve Kaya butter toast. It's a popular toast that they serve in Singapore. The KAya toast was plain looking but it was so yummy! The butter inside the toast was super creamy with a hint of sweetness. It was really good and I was exited to have tried it. The crispy pork belly with a side of the ginger rice. The crispy pork was on point!!! Super crunchy and still tasted warm. It was super good with the sauce they served with it. The hainan chicken was really tender with good flavor and the sauce to go with it is bomb! I was really looking forward to trying this place because the menu was so unique. My friend and I arrived this morning for breakfast. The owners are a very sweet couple and made us feel welcome. We ordered the Kai Gata and a bowl of Jok Sapha (chicken). I also ordered a glass of Oliang (with extra shot). The Kai Gata was so delicious! We were advised to mix it all up and spoon it onto pieces of French bread. SO GOOD! Every bite! The French bread was wonderful. Hot and soft on the inside, while crunchy on the outside. The Jok was top notch. The texture was really smooth, the chicken was plentiful and tasty. There was a soft boiled egg on top. It came with crispy noodle as a garnish. It can be ordered with either chicken or pork. SO GOOD! I loved the Oliang. It is served cold and a great way to start to start your day. I didn't have to add any sweetener or creamer. SO GOOD! The place has a cozy/ comfortable vibe. I sat on one of the benches and used a couple of pillows for back support. Really cozy! The owners added a roll-up garage door that when rolled up, blends inside and outside. As we were leaving, I noticed a cool little bar area. The owner said they just got approved for wine/beer. They said their plan is to host small gatherings. The owners mentioned that they only do dinner two nights a week. I am definitely coming back for dinner soon. Before leaving, I told the owner/wife that I really enjoyed their food and thought it was excellent. She mentioned that they do not use MSG in their dishes. You have to try this place! read more

You could say I didn't set the expectation bar very high, but somehow the food was still disappointing. The chicken looked anemic and had no flavors at all.
