Having sushi delivered can be a hit or miss. But not with Sapporo sushi. It has been a hit every time so far! Everything's always packaged nice and secure and includes plenty of sauce, wasabi, and ginger. I really enjoyed the B.S.C.R. Roll while the black spider just didn't suit my taste personally but was still great quality. In past dining experiences I found the hungry roll to be my top favorite, because she thick and layered with so many different flavors. Yumm. The frightened geisha roll is also a classic, nice and fresh. I really enjoy this spot and look forward to trying more delicious rolls! read more

Me and my cousins came here for sushi today during lunch. There was a lot of parking in the plaza and we were seated right away. The menu had a lot of selections and variety so it can be overwhelming. I saw on Yelp that they do a happy hour but we were told they don't offer it anymore but they had a buy one get one half off on the special rolls so we took advantage of that. I should of known better, as I usually only frequent true Japanese owned and operated sushi bars. Most all of our go to places were closed for the holiday. We usually do not order rolls and stick to the nigiri or sashimi set only. With that being said we just wanted something light and were willing to roll the dice and get some Americanized sushi from Sapporo delivered to us by one of the delivery companies. We just received our sushi from the delivery service and we are very disappointed with the lack of quality or freshness. The fish is cut really small on the nigiri and did not have that shine and fresh looking cuts and quality like you would see or receive at a Japanese owned and operated sushi establishment. The salmon on our rolls smelled really fishy. It also did not look right. As I put a piece in my mouth, it tasted like rotted fish and I spit it out immediately. See attached picture of old stinky mushy salmon. I threw this shit out after I took the picture. Anyone that would let this be served, makes me question how they store or handle their food. Also it shows the lack of integrity on chef's and management's part to serve this and think it's okay. Beware! We paid $90.00 for some really horrible sushi. The texture of the rice is al dente and poor quality. Lesson learned, don't settle for less and purchase from the Americanized sushi joints like Sapporo is. I have to laugh at anyone who would rate this place more than 2 stars. read more

Super casual and relaxed environment that serves a huge variety of great sushi. SO many options of crunchy rolls alone!! Huge menu, reasonable prices and it's much more of a relaxed restaurant than the 'rushed' feeling I usually feel at other sushi places. ALL the staff were very attentive and friendly. We were there for maybe 40 minutes and must have had 4 different staff check in on us multiple times. Very pleased!!! I highly recommend Sapporo Sushi and this would be a great place to bring a date, as it's quiet, not too bright, provides great service, parking is plentiful and the food options and flavors are top notch. I've dined here four or five times in the last year and thought it was pretty good. However my experience tonight was not good. We had a party of four and ordered salads, appetizers, sashimi and sushi rolls. First the good. The house salads ($8.00) were very good. The fried garlic green beans ($8.95) were also very good. For the rolls we had a cherry blossom ($18.95) was just ok as was the yellowtail delight roll ($17.95). Where it really took a turn for the worse is the baby rockstar roll ($16.50) it was horrible with the baby lobster (crawfish) tasting so incredibly fishy like it had gone bad. We also had the golden tiger roll which wasn't much better. We also ordered wine and the Sauvignon Blanc that we ordered was so bad we had to send it back. I wanted this place to be good because it's a local spot and wanted to have another sushi option. I am prepared to give them one more chance maybe it was just a horrific off night but if the next visit is anything like this one, I will never return. read more

Just echoing the other reviews. We've been coming here for years. Sapporo was always rather expensive for mid-tier sushi but it was the best. We were always disappointed when we tried other restaurants that weren't the high end ones. I happily paid $20 for a roll here versus $12-15 at a competitors. A few months ago, another friend that we turned on to this place told me that she had the worst experience ever. It took her over an hour to get her food and the quality was awful. She told us that she wasn't coming back. I was bummed to hear this. We've never had a bad experience here. This was our little gem. We tried to order take out shortly after and was told they weren't doing take out that night. Okay. It's a busy restaurant. I get it. Then, a few weeks later, we dined in. It was at 50% capacity and only had one waitress working. Someone who looked like the general manager occasionally stepped in. Service was spotty but it's not the waiter's fault. She did her best. We got our rolls and noticed a significant change in size. Quality was not quite the same either. It was definitely not the same experience that we were used it. We were *sad*! That experience kept us away for months. We gave this place one more shot desperately hoping that the bad service was them recovering from the pandemic. I knew deep down that wasn't the case though because their food and service was phenomenal when everything was still on lockdown. They were booming. Phoning in an order was a 50+ minute wait but it was always worth it. I came in the pick up tonight my food and they still only had one staff member servicing the restaurant. I noticed the takeout trays they used were much smaller and they now added a peace of lettuce to fill in the empty space... of the smaller tray. A roll that's barely larger than my soy sauce package is not worth $20. That's not even mentioning how they now skimp on the fish and stuff the roll full of imitation crab. This is unfortunately the end of our favorite sushi joint in Long Beach. I'm just... very sad now. :( read more

We have been coming here for years. It used to be our favorite sushi and Ramen spot locally. It was our go to place during COVID for take out. Not sure if they are under a new owner or management but it did not seem the same as it had been for years. We know they stopped serving Ramen a year a two ago (sad but understand). We dined in for dinner for the first time in quite a while. Service was excellent and very attentive. A nice list of sushi were BOGO (50% off second one). Sushi was good but not amazing as it used to be. We did really like two of the four rolls - Crunchy Scallop and Crunchy California. 911 and Caterpillar were just okay. We ordered Bento Boxes Tempura was excellent. Beef Teriyaki (now a premium upgrade fee) was okay. Again, not the same quality as we remembered. Beers (Kirin and Sapporo) were served in icy mugs, nice! Hopefully it was just an off night as I don't see a lot of bad recent reviews. Again service was great read more

I was craving Japanese food & this was the closest place. People were nice, but when I asked if they had anything vegan, they said only the vegetable roll. It was ok, but pretty lackluster for 10 bucks. I was annoyed because it's a big menu & afterwards I looked at the menu again to find they actually had some other things I definitely could have gotten. Where do I even start? The ambiance is delightfully curated, the food is outstanding... wonderful spot for a cute date or family outing. We started with some miso soup + firecracker and aloha rolls. The sushi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Presentation of the food is stellar. Our servers were also attentive and helpful. They have a menu on paper, but it seems that there are also a handful of items (i.e. soups, mochi dessert) omitted from it that you would have to ask for to know about. I loved the agedashi tofu... you have to try it at least once. It's perfectly crisped, but the tofu inside is so silky and yummy! It sits in a bed of savory broth. Just perfect. We'll be back for more the next time we're in Long Beach! Rolls ordered: firecracker, tiger, moon, aloha. All 5/5, stellar. Fish is superb and the combinations are so unique but outstanding at the same time. My favorite was the firecracker! Sides ordered: miso soup (not on menu), agedashi tofu, 5/5. LOVE. Food was delicious. The Sapporo roll with amberjack was so fresh and sweet which perfectly complimented the fatty decadent baked salmon roll's. Their sukiyaki udon was a nice switch from the regular dashi, the sweet and savory beefy broth get like a warm hug. The Japanese udon had a deep and clean dashi stock, perfect for cold winter weather and to just sip on. Service was above and beyond! Always checking on us and fulfilling our needs and took great care of us. I truly did want to give this place a better review, but there was an insect, which I believe was a moth in my Japanese udon. I was VERY PLEASED with Sapporo Sushi! The sushi was GREAT. The only part of my meal I didn't love was the garlic edamame, it didn't taste as fresh as other places however their sushi was one of my favorites. They were very generous with their fish portions and had a great fish-to-rice ratio! They also had gluten free soy sauce, which is a game changer for me. I will for sure be back. Okay i LOVE this place. My favorite and go to is always always always the spicy garlic green beans. You can never go wrong with this. I do notice their wasabi isn't very yummy and the service is...weird. Everytime i come the service is different. But they're honestly very annoying. Stay for about an hour and you have 5 different people come up and ask if you're doing okay. Some people might like that but i think it's pretty excessive. I can understand their boss is prolly one of those "you need to be finding something to do" if you're not super busy but ugh. Came here with my family and thought it was pretty good. The only real down side is that I believe it's more pricey than most places. For small dishes, we ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, shrimp and vegetable tempura, fried beef gyoza, grilled pork and chicken gyoza, and baked mussels. I loved their spicy tuna because it had good flavor and a kick of spice, however I believe the crispy rice had a weird taste as if it was fried in old oil. I tried the fried beef gyoza, which was super crispy and the sauce that came with it made it taste so good. Baked mussels were pretty good too. My sister in law ordered the truffle salmon, and it was definitely an acquired taste. The fatty tuna sashimi was given to us frozen so that was pretty disappointing. Yummy roll was good because the salmon was fresh. I think the highlight of my meal was the hot night roll, which I thought was overpriced. I understand why people got upset over the BOGO because on the page with the rolls it states it's buy one get one, but you would have to see the page before, which states buy one get one half off. I think their service is what made me not want to give them three stars. The staff was super attentive and nice. read more

Worst experience ever. We ordered takeout to celebrate Mother's day and found a live moving slug in our sashimi. Called the restaurant immediately and they told us because we ordered through Yelp we have to contact them for refund. I messages Yelp and attached the video and pictures for refund then a week later get an email that because Yelp uses Grubhub we need to contact Grubhub. I called their number and was told that because its over 48 hours from when we ordered the food they cant help us. I've never written a review before but this is completely unacceptable. read more
