Find parking on the street.. This place is wonderful from the modern cultural decor to their food. The quality of ingredients is top tier. All the staff was super hospitable and lovely. Such a different and unique experience i love it I think I found my new sushi spot! What we ordered: Tuna taco (fire and fresh) Peruvian cebiche*(perfection amazing fresh citrusy top tier unique) Hibachi tostada Spicy edamame Salmon lime roll*(different and had a perfect crispy texture inside) Bixby knolls roll (was good but didnt realize this also had cream cheese between this one and salmon lime, the salmon lime is way better) I highly recommend

Visit details Sunday at 1:00 pm. First time visiting. We were the first people there, so no wait. Vibe Low lighting, good music, and a cool mural on the wall. Stylish but relaxed and easy to settle into. What we ordered Spicy Edamame, Tuna Taco, Dusty Roll, Yellowtail Hand Roll, Parmesan Scallop. Best bites The Spicy Edamame was addictive. Great umami flavor and just a little heat. The Tuna Taco was the star. Super fresh tuna, crispy shell, and a squeeze of lime that made it pop. I could have eaten a full plate. Other items The Dusty Roll and Yellowtail Hand Roll were solid and enjoyable. Miss for me The Parmesan Scallop wasn't my personal favorite. The scallop itself was fresh with a nice texture, but the toasted Parmesan flavor was strong, and seafood and cheese isn't my preference. If you love that combo, you'll probably enjoy it. Service Seated right away and attentive throughout the meal. Parking, price, portions Street parking only and hit or miss, though it was easy that day. Pricing felt reasonable. Portions were on the lighter side.

Sushi Nikkei has delicious Peruvian Sushi and offers an elevated menu for connoisseurs. I made reservations through their site using OpenTable. The service was attentive, friendly, and excellent. The fish was very fresh, buttery, and decadent. Each dish tasted handcrafted with attention to detail. The order included Hamachi Tostada, Tiradito Callao, Acebichado Roll, Sushi Nikkei Tasting, and Ginza Maki. My favorite item was the Parmesan Scallops from the tasting. The scallops were luxurious and had a lovely seared flavor. I highly recommend the Hamachi Tostada, which was crispy and finger-licking amazing.

This was my third time here, and it made me a fan, much more than my other visits! This is my first time at the Bixby Knolls location, so it could just be that it's better than the Belmont Shore location. Sushi Nikkei is a unique experience, blending sushi with Peruvian cuisine. It's a fantastic date night spot for adventurous foodies. Here's what I got that I think really made Sushi Nikkei shine: Scallops - These grilled scallops are small, but pack a punch with smoky charred flavors from the grill, tender scallops, and crispy crunchies from the popped quinoa. This is a great starter. Tuna Tacos - These are simple and delicious. One to two bites of crisp, refreshing, flavorful tuna tartare in a light, flaky fried wonton shell. Tostada - This was good, but a goof one to pass on if you're choosing between appetizers. It's a good sample of all of the fresh flavors available, but the tuna tacos are just a similar and better option. Nikkei Tasting - The Nikkei tasting is the perfect way to try what Peruvian sushi means. It's a fun encapsulation of what flavors they want to bring forward in their dishes. All of the pieces are very unique, flavorful, and fun to try. I've gotten this every single time I've been here and I have not regretted it. Unknown Tiradito - I am always underwhelmed by their tiraditos/ceviche situations, so it makes sense why I can't remember what this one was called. I also can't find the name on their menus, but I've included it in the photos here. They're fresh, but to me, the flavors are always a little wonky. This one in particular was relying on the flavor of a high quality olive oil, but it never came through. Lava Scallops - We added this one as a bite to our Nikkei tasting. It has a plump, juicy piece of scallop. Shinjuku - The shinjuku is a must order, and our favorite Nikkei bite of the night. It was simple, delicious, and a perfect way to showcase the quality of their fish and flavors. I had a group dinner here, so we all had a blast trying lots of different things. I think this is a perfect date night spot for your adventurous partner.  Parking is plentiful, hot sake is flowing, and food is interesting to talk about and enjoy together. Enjoy!

Wifey and I was craving sushi and stumbled upon this place on Yelp of course but we also saw one of our favorite YouTubers Bill and Lisa had did a review out of the Belmont shore location . We had made reservations highly recommended as it does get busy. The service was great and server knowledgeable of menu. The sashimi was so fresh and melted in your mouth. The sushi was so delicious and packed flavor. Would recommend and come here again.

not the best but maybe because i work at a sushi restaurant. street parking only and came almost as soon as they opened. the acebichado roll was mayo heavy bc of the acebichado sauce and has hints of lemon and spice. the tempura inside the roll was good quality and had a nice crunch to it. i feel like the roll was more geared towards an american palate because of how heavy it felt. the crab salmon roll was pretty good and the blue crab flavor was very prominent. no fishiness from the salad and overall a good roll. idk if i would go back again bc of the price point though

Place is clean, food is fresh, ambiance is quiet depending on the time, service is 10/10

Tried Sushi Nikkei in Bixby Knolls and we went all in with PACK 3. Spicy edamame to start, tuna tacos (so freaking good), and their Nikkei style sushi lineup was delicious. On top of that you get two specialty rolls for the cost of $72 for everything which felt like such a deal. We picked the Acebichado and OBA Roll, then got a little extra and added the Belmont Roll and HotTuna. Zero regrets, with sushi I feel like we can throw it down and eat a ton lol. The Belmont Roll and Acebichado were my top faves, totally worth it. The OBA Roll wasn't really my thing since the cooked salmon. HotTuna gave a spicy little kick, loved that one too! The whole vibe is fun and different from your usual sushi spot. I love the Japanese inspired sushi with a Peruvian twist! If you go, trust me and get the HotTuna, Belmont and Acebichado.

Sushi with octopus and parmesan! Ahhmazing

This has become one of my fav sushi spots. I love the Peruvian twist on things! The owners and staff are really kind and you can typically get a seat with a little wait. I wish they had a location in LA. The vibe of the restaurant is really relaxed so feel free to come in casual clothes

Still loving it here; despite some service problems. We arrived and ordered drinks, not sure how server list track - but another table was set, guests sat down, they got drinks and we had to remind our waiter. Also ordered Spicy Edamame, but received plain - as this was in middle of meal and we'd already received the rest of our order it wasn't worthy to mention. As far as food - sooooo good. We love the Acebichado rolls and Rock Shrimp tempura. There has been a hiccup with service nearly everyone we've been here - but it's been small and it doesn't bother us that much. The food is definitely worth it!!!

Been here twice now, both times to celebrate birthdays. For the meateaters in my life, they love this place for all the seafood. As far as I can tell, there are 3 items on the menu that are plant-based or can be easily modified to be plant-based: - Spicy Edamame https://bit.ly/4kPmCRd - Shishito Peppers (sans bonito flakes) https://bit.ly/460DLm7 - Veggie Roll https://bit.ly/4kSa3oa On paper, these options sound lackluster but I was making so many "yummm" noises throughout dinner. The sauces on both the shishito peppers and edamame slaps. The veggie roll has sprinkles of quinoa along the edge of the rice which adds a bit more protein. Great flavors all around! Also, sake :) The vibes here are excellent and I find myself Shazamming practically every song playing on the speakers. Service was wonderful! Perfect place for a special occasion.

Food was exceptional! Service was great and ambiance was casual with a chill vibe. There's outdoor and indoor seating. I made reservations and was seated immediately upon arrival. Parking was a little hard to find and my husband I had to walk a couple mins to the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants quality sushi.

Decided to come back to Sushi Nikkei for Mothers Day. Had a 5PM reservation for 2 plus a stroller and we loved that they accommodated us. The fish quality was just as good as I remember it and everything looked fantastic. Their menu is super unique and the place is definitely good for trying something new despite the heavy prices. The main issue we had both last year and this visit was service. Our waiter was super nice and friendly, but this is the second time that the staff either forgot part of our order or delivered it to the wrong table. We ended up waiting quite a while for (3) items. Luckily we said something. Probably won't be coming back to this location.

    Sushi is gluten free.

    A couple of vegetarian rolls.

    Does this place take reservations?

The crowd, the excitement, and the overall atmosphere made it such a fun viewing party. The DJ really helped elevate the experience and kept the energy going all game long. It truly felt like the place to be for soccer fans. Food-wise, I definitely recommend the chicken quesadilla. Also, the mojitos downstairs were excellent--super refreshing and worth trying! Just note they weren't available at the viewing party on the 3rd floor. Overall, such a great spot for a game-day experience. We'll definitely be back, and next time we want to try more from the full restaurant menu.

If you want good paella, do not come here…read more This was honestly the worst paella I've ever had, which was really disappointing because the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere and live music. We ordered a half seafood and half meat paella, with added lobster and pork belly. Unfortunately, the actual food was terrible. Main issues: * The bottom of the seafood side was completely black and burnt instead of having a crispy socarrat. There's a huge difference between crispy rice and burnt rice. * The lobster was severely overcooked, burnt, and tasted terrible. * The pork belly was an extra charge, but there was barely any visible pork belly in the dish. It honestly just looked like tiny bacon pieces. * All of the meat throughout the paella was severely overcooked. Positives: * Our waiter was very nice. * The ambiance was good. * The live music added a fun vibe. * It was my birthday, so they gave me a complimentary ice cream dessert at the end, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, none of that made up for how bad the paella itself was.

We made a reservation, mentioned on the phone that it was a birthday, and reminded them again when we arrived. They seated us, handed us... one menu for the table, and left us to contemplate our life choices. About 30 minutes later after we started wondering if our server had transferred to another restaurant, I had to track down a manager just to get someone to greet us. To his credit, he apologized and comped our first round of drinks and an appetizer, which was appreciated. Unfortunately that was the only redeemable detail of this whole experience. . The menu was surprisingly limited and they were already out of the ceviche. The ocean view? Gorgeous. The service? More elusive than Ted Cruz during state emergencies. Our cocktails were around $20 each and served in plastic cups. I kept waiting for someone to tell me the real glasses were coming. They weren't. The appetizers finally arrived, and then... silence. Another 30 minutes passed and no one had checked on us. Once again, I had to flag someone down just to order another round because apparently making eye contact was the restaurant's version of table service. The food itself wasn't worth the wait. The nachos genuinely reminded me of Taco Bell not as an insult to Taco Bell, which at least knows exactly what it is. The calamari was actually decent, but it couldn't carry the rest of the meal. We were on our way to the Lil Wayne concert at the amphitheater afterward, so abandoning ship wasn't really an option. By the time we finished even after they comped an appetizer and our first round, two more appetizers and three cocktails still came to $127. We asked them to validate our parking. They took the ticket, came back and told us it was validated. We pulled out of the parking lot.. and still got charged $45. The concert which unlike dinner was awesome. Long Beach has too many fantastic restaurants to spend your money here. I'd happily come back for the view. I'd just eat literally anywhere else first. We'll call it even since my bestie puked all over their parking lot upon our departure. Did ya'll know cutwaters were so lethal? TF. Ps.. party of 3 and they added a required 20% gratuity???
