The atmosphere and sushi is great. The issues are that the service is horrible, its pricey, and there is always an issue when I order for take out. I've been here about 20 times and I always tell myself I'll give them another chance, but they always seem to mix up my order with someone else or I cant call a waiter over for my life. read more

I came here for the first time with my husband on Valentine's Day. We came early. It was probably about 3 or 4 PM so there was no wait and it wasn't busy. We ordered one appetizer and two rolls. After 45 minutes of waiting I kindly asked our server if our food would be out soon and she said a few minutes. So we waited about 10 more minutes and received our first roll. After asking our server about our food and waiting over an hour, only had received 1 roll, I was able to flag down one of the waitresses and ask for our check. She gave a quick sorry and gave us our check I expected a sorry from our own waitress for having to wait so long or even maybe having a discount on our one roll for the hour wait..... but no. And no apology or even anyone acknowledging such poor service. read more

I saw the amount of reviews and stars this place had so i decided to give it a shot and let me tell you, they totally live up to their rating! This is some of the BEST sushi I've had since i was in Japan! It's freshly made and the flavor is superb! Their wasabi is total fire too! I went in on a Thursday afternoon following a hike and I was able to catch their happy hour, so all the food we ate was a steal. Only thing i didn't like here was the garlic edamame but other than that, this lil casual place totally hits the spot when you want some goooood sushi! read more

Ordered the red ramen and the squid legs, the red ramen wasn't very flavorful but all the ingredients were pretty fresh. The fried squid legs were delicious Overall a decent experience, just would not recommend the ramen read more

For the price, this place is good. Location is large, and staff is friendly. However the ambiance and atmosphere is fine. (I prefer Sushi Kinoya and its cute romantic interior.) Miso soup, crunch roll, edamame, spicy tuna rolls are yummy. But this is a great place if you're craving some sushi! Good quality, too, so I definitely do recommend Sapporo Sushi. However, if you're going on a date, or anything intimate, this place is not for that. read more

I usually get sushi at Ralph's for quick sushi since my school is nearby. Today I decided to try this place out and I'm glad I did. I order the 9.99 pick 2 lunch combo. I order the crunchy roll and mixed sashimi. They are generous with the sashimi portions which I really love and they also substituted tuna for more salmon ^_^ my crunch roll was delicious too:) the lunch combo comes with salad , miso soup and rice. Great service too! I have found a new place for convenient sushi (sorry Ralph's). read more

Stopped in for lunch on a recommendation. I ordered the Chirashi, tako yaki, and shumai. I felt the tako yaki and shumai was pretty standard good taste. The chirashi was nice sized cut pieces of sashimi and the presentation was excellent. Something that I haven't seen before. Staff was very friendly and was checking up on us to make sure we were doing ok which I feel is rare now-a-days. Great lunch friendly staff! read more

Surprised I haven't been here before. A nice sushi spot tucked away in a plaza. Took advantage of the half roll deal. Half a roll your choice for $6.99. I ordered a ton of food when I went with my family. Got the seaweed salad, crab salad, philly roll, super crunchy roll, shrimp roll, and more. Everything was pretty good, service was good as well. read more

I went here yesterday for my birthday and it was fabulous~ The decor is fitting with cute street style lanterns and knickknacks. I ordered the caterpillar roll and there was much more avocado and flavorful crab then most other restaurants. We were about to leave but stopped us and sang me happy birthday and gave us a green tea tempura and also had confetti! read more

Weekend is a plus where opening to 2pm is happy hour. I as of 2015 always try to order hand rolls in every sushi establishment that I go to. I must say the rolls here were pretty above standard out of the last couple places that I've been to. Menu is very good as far as variety. If you like shrimp I recommend the disco shrimp as it was a really good taste as an appetizer. Overall will be back with the friends as it is a good establishment for sushi. I usually go to Cerritos/Torrance to get my sushi fix, since Long Beach's sushi game is a little weaker. My friends and I decided to come here for dinner one night. The service here is good. Everyone was friendly and constantly checked in on us. We also had a toddler with us and they were all very friendly with him. The menu is pretty extensive and has all of the typical Japanese restaurant fare. I had just eaten sushi the day before, so I decided to get a bento box. I got a chicken teriyaki and California roll bento box, which was nothing too memorable. The serving size was also pretty small esp for the price. One of my friends got a sashimi plate, which looked good, but also a little small for the price. read more

Wow. I'm impressed! Did not expect a sushi place in an average shopping center in middle of nowhere to be THAT good! I came here twice for just their lunch special. Nothing special. I got the grilled Saba with California roll. Average food at average price that I would go because it's close to campus. It was not until the third visit that I decided to sit at the sushi bar and just order sushi. Then, the real experience began. Price is very reasonable and the portion is HUGE. I got nigiri salmon, unagi and 1 piece of fresh oyster . Everything was fresh and way above average quality. Bill come up to $13 something. Consider the price , it's even better! Love that they let you order individual oyster. Usually the thought of ordering half a dozen ( which is the usual portion at other restaurants) stops me from ordering oyster all together. So, I was excited to get my ONE piece of oyster for $2+. Yum! They have ramen which is Awesome since no other place offer that in a 10 miles radius. Great spot for sushi rolls and sashimi. They have great signature rolls and their service is pretty quick. The staff there is usually very attentive. Now with Covid they have outside dining and their take out is on point. Not one ordered messed up since we've been ordering take out. Great job to the staff!! Awesome work!! read more

This might possibly be the best Japanese restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious. I especially enjoy the black cod. There seems to be a good variety of items on the menu compared to other Japanese restaurants. I haven't had anything here that I didn't like. Not only is the food good but so is the friendly, efficient service. I highly recommend this place. read more

one of my top favs for sushi. there's a server named "john" who is such a delight! went in to order takeout a couple times and he's remembered me when i've came in and we've had such pleasant interactions such a nice person. great prices, great people, and great sushi. totally recommend! read more

I used to come here a couple times a month and absolutely loved it. I used to rave about it to my friends and tell them that if you're getting sushi in LB, this was the spot. However, I moved last year and haven't been here awhile. It's TERRIBLE!! I can't believe how pricy it's gotten and how disgusting and bad the sashimi and food was here. The place was not packed yet the service was slow, there's plenty of employees doing nothing, and the environment was gross and is in of an upgrade. We ordered a dozen Kumamoto oysters, shrimp sumai, sashimi A, the pink lady, yellow tail, and aloha roll. Our bill came out to $98 plus gratuity. This place was not worth that money. I'm never coming back. I'm very disappointed.b read more

My wife, and daughter wanted some Japanese. I'm not a fan of sushi, so I got the chashu ramen. Sadly, they were out of the chashu meat... but I am glad I still went with a meatless ramen chashu bowl. The broth was rich. Appetizers were shishito peppers which were perfect. My daughter ordered guoza for appetizer and ate it all! She's 4yrs old! Loved it. My wife ordered sushi, and my kid got a bento kids meal for an entree. They all enjoyed their food. The waitress was also friendly and attentive. I am happy with our visit. Great place for late night roaming near the beach. Happy hour 6pm-closing special is also great, 6.99 per half roll special, so you can try multiple special rolls. Spicy Ramen is on point with the flavor, same with Udon soup. They also have desserts like macaroon ice cream if you're not full from the meal =) would come again read more

Service was inadequate. We had to eventually flag somebody down just to get our order in. It seemed as if the servers deliberately tried to avoid us. As for the food, they have a decently priced happy hour menu between 3-6 which includes $9 pitchers of beer and various sushi orders between $3-$4. Quality of the sushi is similar to that at AYCE Sake 2 Me Sushi. Id feel ripped off had I paid regular price for the sushi. Considering the price, service, and quality of the sushi, Id recommend Sake 2 Me over this place. read more

Great experience at Sopporo. All the chef choice sashimi was good. Lots of the rolls had krab, mayo, and/or somewhat odd ingredients (asparagus, mango) which isn't my taste in a sushi restaurant, but I probably shouldn't degrade their rating over it. I like the complimentary edimame read more

We found Sapporo Sushi on yelp. We were able to get in at the last minute on a Saturday evening. Got a table for two in a very unassuming restaurant. The ambience is okay - in fact, I considered giving 4 stars but the sushi was drop dead fresh! Amazing. We tried several pieces of sushi, a couple of rolls and I had ice cold Japanese beer to go with it. We'll definitely visit here again when we are in the area. Great value great quality. read more

This is definitely my favorite spot for sushi. I love that they have different style rolls. And by different I mean not you typical California roll base with different toppings! My favorite (i think it was called the pink lady or something..) has mango, salmon and cream cheese (and other stuff). This place is just bomb. read more

This place looks great, and the sushi is awesome. Rice tastes very clean, nori is sweet, seafood is fresh. My only problem is the service. I have gone twice now and the staff is very nice. Polite. But forgetful. Easily overwhelmed. If you are dining in a group you will likely get fair attention. But for intimate dates I'd try for a slower night. Some more experienced staffers would suit them better on the busier nights I think. ‍ read more
