Picked 6 different buns, ordered 12, tater tots, one of their special iced coffees(which was unbelievable) and the cinnamon roll(because I have a huge sweet tooth). Again, everything I ordered was amazing, and nothing lasted more than 5 minutes when I brought to our group! Highly recommend!!! Get it all!

I came here to try out California Bun, an eatery that has harnessed an interesting (long overdue) concept, to package portable food. Here they prepare snack sized bites (or a little more) of favorite food fancies, enveloped in a daily fresh baked round brioche bun. The store is high ceiling, spacious and large, with ample space to dine in or carry out. It is a mom and pop joint, that is slowly but surely, beginning to make a mark. On the main wall, elegantly displayed, are all the many enticing varieties, for the day. My visit was designed to take something to go. The conundrum here is, what to order, because there were so many inviting choices that were talking to you. I finally decided to select three of these evenly browned and differently topped buns. The El Sabroso (Egg, cheddar & jack cheese, bacon & Jalapeno salsa, garnished with Cheese, bacon & jalapeño). The Roadside Burger (Seasoned ground beef, grilled onions, white American cheese, & secret house burger sauce, garnished with Cheese & bacon). The Mac Daddy (Creamy mac and cheese with a cheddar, jack, and parmesan cheese blend, garnished with Panko bread crumbs). So whats the verdict? The Mac Daddy was my least favorite. In comparing the other two, the Roadside Burger seemed to have the higher of (inside filling/inside bread) ratio, as compared to the El Sabroso. However, the latter is the most attractive bun on the outside and overall, contains a good mix of flavors and slight kick. Any food with a visible Jalapeño is a magnet, for me. Still, this concoction needs more of the egg mixture, to achieve the right balance. In general, all 3 buns were soft, had a nice texture, bread taste and chew. Service here is warm, inviting, friendly and informative.

You'll hear many patrons describe this restaurant as a hidden gem. Believe them. From our observation, reservations are highly desirable and may prove necessary for weekend nights. The only seatings available when we called a day earlier were at 4:30 or after 7:00 PM. We took the earlier, and frankly are glad we did. We arrived at their unassuming storefront location as the first patrons of the day, were warmly greeted and immediately seated. From this moment forward, my wife and I agreed: If anyone hopes to run a highly successful small restaurant, Bella's Bistro is the template. Inside, the ambiance was tasteful with gentle background music at the absolutely perfect tempo and volume to allow for conversation. We found the furnishings, tableware and restroom immaculate. Fresh flowers and a candle adorned each table, and the decorations for Valentine's Day were just the right tone, conveying appeal without being garish. Kudos to the staff for getting it right on all of the above. Though I generally set expectations low for the wine list or bartending at a small establishment, Bella's features a diverse wine list and specialty cocktails that pair very well with their menu. Of particular note was the superb crafting of cocktails during our visit - again, exceeding our expectations. It was during cocktail service that we noticed the full-service bar tucked in the rear corner of the restaurant, offering barstool seating and counter service for those who may be so inclined. We shared a nicely prepared caesar salad, while enjoying the basket of varied breads. While refrigerated butter pats were provided in the basket, it would have been a tad easier and more appealing if a small container of whipped butter had been offered instead. Our entrees included their homemade ravioli as well as chicken parmigiana, the latter included a large perfectly crafted portion of chicken accompanied by perfectly prepared spaghetti. To say this restaurant knows how to make and served great pasta is in understatement, with the ravioli a choice to be savored. A simple cheesecake dessert topped off the evening. Though the restaurant was full as our meal ended, we never felt rushed or ignored. Service was at all times attentive but never overbearing. There was genuine interest in our enjoyment and satisfaction. We encourage you to try Bella's Bistro!

My wife and I visited on a Sunday evening, and the service was excellent. We also enjoyed some really good cocktails before dinner. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My steak wasn't cooked properly, and my wife's chicken dish was underwhelming. I'd consider going back for the drinks and appetizers, but probably not for the entrées.

Nolan was our server and he was on it. Wasn't obnoxious about giving good service but on top of it. Got our orders right, was accommodating. I love the ambience. Not California dining with bright lights and high noise level. Old time sexy ambience where you think the couple in the next booth might be having an affair. I'm on the west end of Simi so I forget about Sutter's. I'll make more of an effort however. Cherry cobbler excellent.

I had been here years ago and remembered it being a solid steakhouse type restaurant with good comfort food, so we were excited to come back. First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful -- huge booths, cozy lighting, and a great atmosphere. We also had a young waiter who was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and truly the highlight of the experience. Drinks also came out quickly and were strong. Unfortunately, the food completely missed the mark. I ordered the half rack of ribs with a loaded baked potato and salad. The 4 little ribs were tiny with barely any meat on them, and the baked potato tasted strange -- almost like artificial butter or margarine instead of real butter and sour cream. There was hardly any bacon and way too many green onions. The salad was basically chopped iceberg lettuce with a clump of what looked like canned tomatoes on top. The blue cheese dressing was actually delicious, but overall the meal was disappointing, especially for $33, and I honestly left hungry. My husband ordered the BBQ grilled chicken and the chicken breast was shockingly small -- it honestly looked like a kids meal. The fries tasted like basic frozen fries. My son's mac and cheese was honestly awful and tasted sour. A box of Kraft would have been better. The cheeseburger was average at best -- I've genuinely had better burgers at youth soccer tournaments. It really feels like this restaurant is struggling when it comes to food quality and portion sizes, which is unfortunate because the location, ambience, and service all have so much potential. I felt bad because our waiter truly did a great job, but good service can't make up for disappointing food at these prices.
