The atmosphere is nice, the staff was friendly but extremely hard to understand. They gave description on specials but gave no pricing. The astmosphere, I believe gives you the feeling of embarrassment if a person asks the price. Again, appetizer and entre descriptions are a little deceiving. Asked for entire plate (hard lobster tail) to be boxed up. Specifically asked for hard lobster TO BE BOXED and they threw it away and boxed just a little left overs . Questioned, and told the lobster was not part of meal. Really, I specifically asked for it to be boxed and it was still loaded with meat. You don't decide what I want boxed up!! Otherwise, serving service was ok but clearing service was AMAZING. Thumbs up to what I would call "bussers " and assistants. Suggestion: waiters, remember where you came from. The word "humble" could be a look up for you. Meal was very tasty, the chef does a great job. It looks like the chef is the owner. Suggestion: the front of the house represents "YOU". On the 1st floor there is a beautiful bar, open kitchen, and intimate dining area. The food is fantastic, great options to choose off menu, excellent presentation. Menu is ala cart. MeatabAllleee! Sorry, I just had to start with that. Orlando's pronunciation on meatball is still ringing in my head! Anyways, dinner took place here last Saturday night for my Aunt's birthday. After seeing this restaurant featured on tv, she was dying to come check them out. Thankfully the drive to Hollywood from Miami was not bad. Weekend traffic is always pleasant! The restaurant is hidden right off of Van Buren Street. It blends in so well, due to the fact that it looks like a ritzy home. The architecture is beautiful for sure. They offer valet parking, which we opted for, as street parking here is a pain. Be prepared however for the $6 fee (cash only of-course), that they fail to tell you when they take your car. Looking at the location from the outside is astounding, and from inside even more. We were seated immediately at a table by the entrance. If possible, definitely request for one by the window, if you are thinking about going, because it's so beautiful. Aside from being an Italian steakhouse, the restaurant offers a very romantic ambiance. After being seated, we were started off with some waters, and greeted by our waiter, Orlando. He informed us of the specials for the night, but unfortunately never offered us a wine menu, or any other drinks. We had to wait quite sometime for his return, and I had to request for the wine menu. After taking my order, he almost walked away again, without even acknowledging my Aunt whom was also trying to order a drink. She was finally able to ask him if they had riesling that was not too sweet, to which he responded there was no riesling available. He did not even suggest any other type of wine for her to try. Pretty shocking. After placing our meal order, we were served freshly baked, warm bread, with ricotta cheese. I can't say I have had this combination before, but it is ingenious, and delicious! Definitely had to pop a Lactaid pill for this one! We were also served Parsnip soup, on the house. It was yummy, but a bit too liquidy. I would have liked the texture to be a bit thicker. Our meals eventually came out, but Orlando was no where to be seen. He was definitely not an attentive waiter. My Aunt had ordered the Spinach Parpadelle, bolognese style, with veal, pork, and beef ($26). Her mother had the Filet Mignon ($36), and I ordered the Sweet and Spicy Shrimp ($16) with a side of Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms ($10). My shrimp was tasty, but the batter was a bit too mushy. I would have preferred for it to have been crispier. It did have a nice kick to it though. I also enjoyed the mushrooms, but they were super stingy on the shiitake. I also had a bite of my Aunt's parpadelle. The pasta tasted fresh, but I think her dish could have used a tad more bolognese sauce. All in all, I think we all enjoyed our meals. I can't say it was the most amazing food I've ever had, and the service definitely was lacking, but it's worth coming to try this place out at least once. Overall it was average for the price. The appetizer was better than entree. I had the octopus and it was perfectly done. Filet for dinner with Gorgonzola which I was expecting as more of a cheese and it came as a sauce. Perhaps a specialty dinner would have applied for more creativity. What killed the evening was the music selection. The waiter agreed and said the owner does this some times it was loud cheesey 80s Rock totally incongruous with my$400 meal. For the appetizers we had the delicious meatballs, burrata, arugula salad and spicy shrimp. For the main dinner we had the chicken Parmigiana ,fish, a delicious grilled New York strip steak. pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage! Everything was absolutely delicious. My plate of course was the best choice of the night amongst our party of 8. I had the pork chop with the apple cider risotto. OMG delicious. It was so delicious couple asked me to trade. NOPE! Sardelli, how did I miss this spot all these years? I have lived in and around Hollywood for years. And yet a spot that is part high end American-Italian, part slick restaurant speakeasy had slipped passed me. It's almost like you have to know about the place and "want" to go to end up at Sardellis. Well a couple weeks ago I had heard about it and was determined to go. When the Uber pulled up, the driver was confused and said, "this is no restaurant sir". I responded that yes it was thanks, got out and went up to the door. You see, the restaurant resides in a Victorian type house structure on Hollywood beach. Yeah cool strange. So after getting a gray table and realizing we had 2 dedicated servers, I wasn't surprised to note the menu was, pricey. I ordered a little conservative a good pasta and the house Cabernet. After the very good cab came out, the chef hook up came out, a celery soup. Sounds boring right? Not. It was fan-tas-tic. After that the Orecchiette with sausage had a lot to prove. And thankfully it did. Wow the crumbling carne around the shells of pasta were almost a delicacy. There was the yellow tail as well. That sounds like something you could skip over. But when I took a bite with the puree mash and greens with the flaky fish it was well worth the price of admission. It was a high end check night, but appreciated by all. Maybe you want to wait for the right group outing, birthday or special date. But you will be blessed that you picked this inconspicuous gem. read more

One time shame on you - second time Shame on Me- 3rd time were idiots! Two previous reviews though last one was 4 years ago but being the Type A personality, I always seem to pick the place we are going but trying to be the not guy in charge I allow myself to be talked into going here again last night even though I remember quite well how bad the prior experiences were. One of our dining companions was adamant "you just caught an unusual experience", "it's the best around", give it a try if you don't like it, I'll never recommend a place again, ok so off we go. 6 of us tonight and we are seated in the front table corner by the window very nice ambiance as once again the relentless push for bottled overpriced sparkling water is done by our waiter who was only around when we needed water. Menus are presented along with specials, and we immediately have an issue as our friend brought a very high-end Magnum of wine. The attitude was downright belligerent that bottle is not permitted from outside. We asked do you have a corkage fee he says yes but this is a double bottle, ok charge us twice more on this later. Bread is presented and I kid you not the center slices were frozen solid. I am not making this up FROZEN and when it was sent back again the attitude permeates from the server. We ordered the Antipasto platter which was nothing more than a few slices of prosciutto, store bought provolone you can tell by the perfect cuts on the cheese and some olives $30.00 weak! Again, things turn as we asked to order more appetizers and we are scolded that all entrees must be ordered at the time of the appetizers. They would not relent even though we knew what appetizers we wanted but not what or how many entrees. We didn't want to make waves, so we order. House special meatball was 1 giant meatball with a small scoop of Ricotta cheese with marinara sauce. Meatball was nuked as when you cut into it the steam was rising like Mt. St Helen. Meatball itself was a dry tasteless mass of ground beef that could have been one of the worst meatballs I've ever had in a restaurant. Spicy Shrimp with grilled spicy red onion was actually very good as was the cubanelle pepper stuffed with breadcrumbs & Sausage, maybe we are trending up? Complimentary soups are cream of vegetable tonight in a red based broth these again were excellent. We order wine of their list at this point as we are done with our bottle and of course the 1st bottle they are out of, the second bottle is the wrong vintage. SMH All positive vibes then went out the window as entrees are presented. The house special Branzino was fresh and fine as was the $40.00 standalone chicken breast parmigiana (really $40.00 for breast with no sides). The side of Rigatoni we were charged for a full order of pasta was totally overcooked pasta in a bland nothing marinara sauce. Carbonara was decent but what really sends this place into a spiral is the $60.00 house special Veal Chop Milanese with arugula salad on top. They served an absolutely BURNT TO A CRISP VEAL CHOP that you couldn't get through with a chain saw. I kid you not it was CHARCOALED. We call the server, and he removes it to bring us another. Here it comes in less the 3 minutes ANOTHER CHARCOLED BURNT TO A CRISP VEAL CHOP I KID YOU NOT. His response well that's the way it served. I'm never speechless and I had no words. We asked for the manager, the owner, someone on site. Their response there is nobody here but the cooks and servers tonight. Well now we know why the place is run the way it is. OH, By the way their 18% gratuity was already on the bill, what BALLS! The final straw was $100.00 CORKAGE FEE OMG You have to be kidding me. No apologies, desert, nothing just we wish you would leave and never come back attitude. Bottom line here is how this place is raved about it beyond my comprehension. Its overpriced, low quality, food with terrible service and worse customer service. How it is even in business is beyond my thoughts as well. What can I say I relented and learned a valuable lesson, trust your instincts as I will never ever dine here again? If you want to save yourself an expensive lesson in eating out do yourselves a favor and stay away as the only way to make places like this learn their lesson is to not frequent them. read more

We sat upstairs, which was a bit quieter and more relaxing, where we were treated with top-notch service and a mellow ambience. They have an incredible wine list; this has always been a primary feature of the family's dining establishments. The menu is curated and one page, which is both a positive and a negative. I much prefer a kitchen that can perfectly nail fewer dishes than trying to be everything for everyone. They also had several specials which gave even more depth to the menu. This trip to the Broadwalk we decided to forego the car rental in favor of Ubers and the Sun Shuttle. (If you haven't been for awhile make sure you check out the Sun Shuttle) One particularly gregarious driver was giving his recs (Nick's, duh) and I asked him about Sardelli, as I already had the reservation. He lit up and said "You have to get the pasta." So we got the pasta, and it was wonderful. They graciously allowed us to split one order of the tagliatelle as an appetizer. All but two pastas are available to split, I don't know which two. Our veal chops and filet were perfectly cooked. In fact, all of our dishes were served so hot, it was like we were sitting next to the chef. Team concept at it's best. It was all good, our server, the folks at the front, the decor. Was invited to a wedding party at Sardelli and I was very impressed! The private 4th floor area was stunning in decor and the service was attentive, kind and quick. Parking can be tricky, but a $6 valet is the way to go. I had the meatball appetizer and rigatoni with red sauce and I left full and very happy!
