I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of our appetizers Our group had the zaatar laffa, and the plain laffa, humus, and the chicken chopped liver plate, and the hanging pastrami with cornbread that was so delicious. Wednesday for dinner at 7:00pm. Our server and service in general was great. Here's our issues: Environment; loud trance music and a yule log/fireplace on the giant flat screen was just strange? Food: Ice tees tasted like mold? Stuffed grape leaves mushy and too much mint. Other sides and entree lacked salt/seasoning. Desert was disgusting. Value: Regardless of the added expense of being Kosher; very expensive and an automatic 20% gratuity. Additionally we saw many tables leave food that was barley touched... Place seems to be patronized by mostly locals that have limited options for a nicer Kosher meal and except the restaurant's downfalls due to their shared religious affiliation. read more

I visited JZ on a weekday while in town for a conference. I no longer keep kosher but was planning to dine with a colleague who does- there's very limited kosher dining in our hometown so I was really hoping this meal would be a treat for him. The space was lovely- very modern and small but not cramped. They use a lot of technology including tablet style menus, which I appreciated but might not be for everyone. Our server was very kind and attentive, and helped us navigate the large menu. I started with a glass of very good Pinot noir, and we decided on the hanging pastrami for a shared appetizer. It didn't disappoint- it was a real showpiece and other diners even came to ask about it. It was incredibly delicious- there was a maple glaze and the meat was very tender. Just be warned- it was plenty of food to be a starter for four people, we barely made a dent (and we were starving). I don't eat bread, but my dining companion said the puffed bread was light and tasty. I had the lamb skewer for my entree. The server suggested and brought a chimichuri type sauce that complemented the meat nicely. It was a large portion of tender and flavorful lamb. My dining companion had the lamb burger and raved about it. All in all, it was a great experience. If I was local I could see eating there regularly. read more

The ribeye steak and the short ribs were quite good. I enjoyed the hummus appetizer too. Our waiter was nice and the wait for the food wasn't long. So why the two star rating you might ask. There are three reasons for my low rating. I know kosher food is more expensive but be prepared to go home with a full stomach and a very light wallet. So if you are looking for value (or non-kosher food) this is not the place. If you are going to charge an automatic 20% gratuity for four people you really should have this listed clearly on the menu. My biggest gripe is that when you go to a restaurant, you go for food AND service. We waited almost an hour to be seated, despite arriving early and having a reservation. Every time we asked how long it would be we were told rudely it would be 10 minutes. The food might be good but the customer service at JZ. Steakhouse is clearly lacking. read more

2/9/23 Had a great meal here with my family. It was extremely busy that night but we had a reservation and only had a short wait. We shared some apps: hummus and laffa (so fresh & delicious) the laffa was steaming hot as if it had just come out of the oven. We also tried the brisket fries (decadent), pastrami (hanging over fresh cornbread) that was tasty too but even more interesting to look at. I tasted the eggplant entree. It was was garlicky & tasty For my entree I chose the short ribs over mashed potatoes. The portion was huge and the ribs were falling off the bone. The mashed potatoes were great too. I would come back but only with a smaller group. This is because I really wanted to try the salads but if one person in the party orders it, they charge each person at the table. While the food and service was excellent, i had an issue with the management. We were a party of 15 people, so not a small group/check. I inadvertently paid with the wrong credit card, and immediately asked them to void the transaction and charge to a a different card. After being denied by the manager, i asked to speak to the owner. He told me he could not do it, since he has had "trouble with the IRS before" for doing this. I expressed my surprise, and said, "for one transaction'? To which he replied yes. As a business proprietor myself, i know this is not true. I have to void transactions all the time. The owner cost me a good deal of money as a result of his refusal to honor my request. Our dining experience was deeply disappointing. First, our plates were served separately, arriving at different times, which made it impossible to enjoy the meal together. Some of us had to eat cold food while waiting for others to be served. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened. My husband's skewer arrived raw, and the meat was filled with nerves, making it inedible. He asked for a replacement, and while the waitress took the skewer back, she left the side dish (mashed potatoes) on the table. About ten minutes later, she returned with the same pieces of meat, now hard and rubbery, as they had simply been thrown back on the grill instead of being replaced with a fresh skewer. This is not only unhygienic--considering my husband had already taken a bite--but also completely unacceptable. We explained the issue to the waitress, emphasizing that the meat was full of nerves and could not be eaten. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, the manager came to our table and began arguing loudly, accusing my husband of eating the meat and implying he had no right to complain. This was incredibly rude and unprofessional, especially since most of the plate remained untouched because the meat was simply inedible. While the manager eventually offered to replace or remove the dish, his condescending tone had already ruined an evening that had been marred by cold food and poor service. We spent over $300, with an 18% mandatory tip, and left feeling disrespected and dissatisfied. I will never set foot in that restaurant again. It seems success has gone to their heads, but fortunately, there are plenty of excellent kosher dining options in Miami where customers are treated with respect and served quality food. read more

This is a kosher steakhouse. Not sure if thats why the prices are so high, but it was incredibly expensive. They do give you big portions though. I had the ceasar salad which was huge but not that good. Also had the grilled chicken and green beans which were excellent.
