I ordered the ma'moul online to be delivered. I ordered a mix of date, pistachio, and walnut and all were amazing. The pistachio was rich, buttery, and had the right amount of sweet to complement a cup of coffee. The rose water and orange blossom scents were well incorporated into the shortbread. The shortbread was flaky and not to dry. The date was naturally sweet, and the walnut is delicious and remained slightly crunchy. These ma'mouls are perfect and came individually wrapped with more filling than shortbread ( which I appreciate). The shipping was quick and the cookies don't get stale over a week. I have to be very careful with sweets since I am diabetic and these are very nice for a little nibble here and there. I have to take care since ma'mouls are typically covered in powdered sugar. I ended up sending a box as a gift to my middle eastern friends and they said they were very high quality. read more

Sarkis Pastry is one of the filthiest sweet shop ever. I do not recommend people to buy sweets from there. They seem to be clean, but they are not. For example, I remember one time I wanted to use there restroom, and I came across a bunch of flying roaches crawling every where. I was really disgusted, so I walked out of the bathroom. As I walked out I saw flies flying behind the glass I saw bunch of flies piles on the sweets. People rave about there sweets, but I would not recommend people the main reason because of them being not sanitary, not neat and poor customer service skills. I've always grabbed delicious finger goods from this bakery but I was totally floored by how awesome they decorated my grandson's cake and by how delicious it tasted!! I was also very pleasantly surprised to have received a phone call from them with a question about the cake to ensure that they were making it to my exact specifications! The associate who took my order was also very pleasant and helpful. She wasn't familiar with the image I was requesting placed on the cake so she took time to go online and search for the perfect image!!! The pastries are good and also the cake, but the short, tiny, employee is rude and totally unfriendly. I went there twice in ten days, the first time I thought she had a bad day but today I went again asking for a cake and she was mean. I'm pregnant and I can't eat fresh fruits if not treated in a particular way, so for my birthday I try to order just the base of a fruit tart with the cream. She rudely said no. I will never order a cake from here again for any given special occasion. When you come in with a picture and they say they can "duplicate it perfectly", then you'd expect them to duplicate it perfectly!!! When you tell them the color it needs to be (as for the icing and decorative pieces) and they say "absolutely", you expect it to be the color you asked for. And, when its a three tier cake and you specifically ask for a particular flavor for each tier and they say "yes of course", you would expect that each tier would be a different flavor. For the kind of money I spent at this place, NONE of that happened. I had Oreo looking shapes on my cake instead of square and diamond shapes for the decor. The pieces I purchased (lace, ribbons) for the decoration was completely soaked in glue and was visible to the naked eye!!! And the cake was brown and pink instead of what I asked for and what the picture showed - Black and White!!! Also the entire cake was pistachio. I specifically asked for red velvet, (bottom tier) chocolate (top tier), and pistachio (middle tier). I will never ever recommend this place to anyone!!! Pretty expensive for cheap service that does not give you what you ask and pay a lot of money for! Shame on them. read more

I have been going here for over 8 years for ashtas and croissants, which was the best. However, lately the quality of it has gone down; for example, the croissants are getting smaller and smaller and they are still charging the same price. This morning I got 4 croissants and one of the croissants were extreamly smaller than the others and they still charged me the same price, which is a total ripoff. So, when I asked them about this they claimed that it all depends on the dough - sometimes they are big and sometimes they come out very small. I am also picky when it comes to baklava, and this was the freshest best tasting baklava I have had in a long time. I read the review about the fly in the cake. My rating is only for the baklava and Middle Eastern sweets. I wouldn't buy a cake from this kind of shop in the first place; and as much as it's truly repulsive to come across a fly in one's cake, I think the shop acted very correctly by apologizing and reimbursing the client. They should be more cautious about flies in the kitchen, but it is something that could happen in the cleanest of kitchens. I've also been to the one in Glendale, but think the baklava in Pasadena is better. read more

I was referred to Sarkis Pastry by co-workers when I asked where to get good baklava. The storefront is so beautiful and they have an impressive assortment of pastries that look mouthwatering. Please don't be fooled. I want everyone to know to avoid this establishment. It is "all show, and no go." Their baklava is clearly made with 100% vegetable shortening instead of butter and tasted awful! I ended up going to the Baklava Factory the next day to get the real thing for a special meal I as making for friends. I can't help but think if pastries are their business and they are taking shortcuts with the quality of their baklava, I'm sure they're doing the same thing with the rest of their offerings. Terrible is the only word that can describe this place. Kenefe is made out of some "milky" ingredient, as oppose to the cheese that it should really be made of. The cakes are crackled, because they have been sitting in their refrigerators for months. The refrigerators behind the counters have employee's left over lunches, half eater cookies and cakes...the list goes on. The ladies at the store act as if you are an uninvited guest in their own house! Terrible service, and aweful products. No wonder Vrej down the street has MUCH MORE business! read more
