BEWARE! These are the mechanics you hear about that rip women off because they think we are stupid. I started seeing sas German auto because my long time mechanic retired. I was happy with the first service even though the price was a little steep. Later on my car started having an oil pressure problem, so I took it in. They later called me and said I needed new radiator hoses, so I said ok do them. The total was over $2700 at this point, but if they say it needs fixing then I will get it fixed. Then came the huge red flag. They called me a couple hours later and explained that my battery was going to die at any time, and I needed to get that replaced as well. Well, I had replaced my battery only 7 months before that, so I told him no. When I picked up my car I took it straight to auto zone to get the battery tested, and it was testing at over 90%. The employee also told me that it has a 10 year warranty and the mechanic should have seen that. The next day I was making a sharp turn and heard what sounded like dragging on my front tires. I thought I would give them one more chance and take it in for a diagnosis. They said I needed new struts and shocks immediately and it was going to cost me roughly another $2500. I said I wanted to get a 2nd opinion so I took my car to my dad's mechanic who he has been seeing for over 20years. I was told yes, my struts and shocks needed to be replaced in about a year and it would cost about $1300. I was due for a service so i had this mechanic do that for me, which was significantly less than what i had paid sas german auto the previous year. I had asked him to see if the radiator hoses looked new, he later said that they did not look new. I called to speak to Ken at sas German auto. When he got on the phone I explained who I was, what work had been done to my car, and. what work needed to be done to my car. I told him that I would like to know why he told me I needed a new battery when I in fact did not need one. He immediately got defensive and blamed his techs, saying they are the ones that did the test and that he was just relaying the info to me. I told him I did not appreciate him lying to me and treating me like I'm stupid. It hasn't even been a year since this happened and my oil pressure warning is already going off again. If this was fixed properly the first time I would not be here writing this review. But since my hoses were not new and my battery was more than good, I can only assume that sas German auto did NOT fix my car properly the first time. So please beware of this mechanic, they will most likely rip you off. read more

I've been taking my 2015 Cayenne to SAS for a bit now (maybe 3 times over a few years). I was ok with their service, it was like clockwork, take in, provide service, pay and leave. All good. Had a couple of tune-ups and a brake job. Unfortunately, this all changed a few weeks back. I took the car in for a routine tune and oil change. They held for a couple of days as they were busy. Wasn't great, but manageable. When I got car back, the next day, I noticed it had dripped oil all over garage floor. I called and asked if they could look at this immediately. Rick agreed but said they needed me to leave overnight. I did. They repaired and I picked up next day. Ken (owner) said he did it himself and apparently the gasket was bad so he replaced. All good. So I thought. I'm here two weeks later and there's oil all over my garage floor again. I called in and said I needed them to look at but received a response that they have too much business and couldn't see me until next week (6 days). I told him this isn't a call for a new appointment or service - this is a call because the service I already have paid for has failed and needs to be repaired immediately. Rick said he wasn't going to argue with me and that I could bring in and leave it with them but he couldn't get to it until next Tuesday (today is Thursday). Got to be kidding. I have no recourse except to leave this message. I hate leaving these but it's honest and it's reality. Buyer beware. If they repair your car and mess it up, they do not feel responsible or liable. read more

We've taken our mercedes here multiple times, first time was great. Had to do a repair on the engine cost us ~$3k and spoke with Rick and also the owner and again great experience. Second time not the best experience, took the car in for an oil change and another check engine light. We picked up our car drove off and check engine light came back on that day. Spoke with the owner and he said Rick never wrote down to check the check engine light so we had to bring it back in the following week for a premair sensor. Which brings us to today, we had to take the car to a local shop because SAS appts were too far out for us and we're having the local shop deal with our immediate issue and they pointed out replacing cam solenoids and stabilizer links. I called SAS auto spoke with Rick asked for a rough cost on replacing said items and was told "I can't give you that over the phone, if you're gonna phone shop were not the cheapest. We need the car in if you want some kind of estimate. What if we do our own inspection and it's not needed? We don't trust other shops inspections. I won't give you a ballpark estimate" While I understand having to inspection a car yourself, I work in a trade and would want to do the same thing, I was looking for a ball park so I can figure out if this is something we can just go ahead and do asap or if this is something we have schedule out. Wasn't even planning on having the local shop do the work because we liked going to SAS auto even though it's 45 mins away from us. But after the conversation with Rick immediately just assuming we're phone shopping along with him not notating everything we asked to be done last service, we won't be going back. read more

Our Mercedes C300 had a problem with cutting out on heavy acceleration. Took it to SAS and described the problem to Rick and Ken the owner. I was so glad to see that they listened to me and then took the time to find out exactly what was wrong with the car. Car came back in great shape and can now accelerate as needed. Another shop wanted to replace the ESC unit to the tune of $3000+ for this problem without even looking at it. Can I just say, I had the best experience with these guys. First off, they quoted me thousands less than Porsche for my brakes- to change them, all the way around, parts, and labor. They were professional and courteous. They gave me straight forward quote- super up front about costs. Their turn around time was literally days less than Porsche, whom quoted me a week. I had my car back in 1 day with SAS. They called me to ask for authorization for any other items that needed to be addressed. The use all OEM parts and did quality work. They specialize in German cars, which is comforting knowing your car is in good hands. They painted my brake calipers, which I was also quoted an astronomical amount by Porsche. SAS did an outstanding job. They look great! I will 100% return to them for my future needs. Easy breezy, no dealership hassle. Rick the gentleman whom works at the front desk, quoted, and scheduled me in was great. The gentleman Paul whom did the work on my brakes and painted my calipers did a fabulous job- his attention to detail was impeccable. Paul removed and painted the calipers, which is awesome. My car was giving loud sound from blower motor, the dealer said it's due to mice nest in blower motor , which was weird to me and did not made much sense as I am using the car regularly and did not park car for long term in remote areas or near places where rodents make frequent visits . The strange pet is my dealership said the warranty does not cover for this even though it was a brand new car with just 4500 miles on it . SAS German auto helped me figure out the actual issue , it was due to piece of foam struck in blower motor , not sure how it got there . I have been a customer of SAS German Auto for several years. I am extremely disappointed with both the service and customer experience I recently received from SAS.. Four weeks ago SAS performed a tune-up and oil change on my Audi, as we are preparing to move out of state and wanted to be sure the car performing properly. Earlier this week, I noticed the car was dripping oil. I called SAS to see if someone could look at it prior to our departure later this week. I recieved a very terse response that they are several techs short and would not be able to look at it for several weeks. Based on a friends recommendation, I called Ed's Auto on Santa Rita. Ed couldn't have been nicer and suggested I bring it in the following morning. Upon inspection, the oil plug had not been properly inserted after the oil change that SAS performed several weeks ago. Ed tightened the oil plug, resolved the leak and I was on my way. It literally took him 10 minutes. My only regret is that we are moving out of state and will not be able to give Ed's Auto my business in the future.... read more

Stay away from this scam shop! I spent over 6000usd at SAS Auto German - I had trusted Ken and hoped that he had customers best intentions at heart; but unfortunately, that's not the case. Ken has worked on my BMW 335i a few times; and I have always trusted his advice; until the recently when he had to replace my radiator; For starters he replaced hoses that he had installed a few months (for 180usd; charged 80usd to refill coolant - (he called it blue coolant - this stuff cost 15-20usd per gallon - we are not idiots); and when I called to inquire why he replaced new hose pipes, he tries to pretend but that he doesn't recall replacing them; To make matters worse they charged me 1100usd to replace the radiator (I was stupid enough to not research); But they have lost a loyal customer. Don't take advantage of customers. They will be smart soon, and you will be out of business. read more

Either that's ridiculously insane or I'm in a completely different income bracket--like leagues away--than the folks who take their cars here for regular service. Fifty miles from home after an 8-day road trip, our Mercedes, with 205,000 miles on it, displays the red message: Alternator/Battery: Get Service. My wife looks in Yelp for the nearest place that can fix a Mercedes. She calls and gets a helpful young woman who immediately puts on Ken to ask excellent questions: "Is the steering okay? Yes, then it isn't a broken belt. Probably safe to drive here." When we arrive, we are greeted by the helpful and friendly Ken. Unfortunately it is nearly 5:00 and he can't get an alternator until morning. We ask where to get a hotel. After some talk, he suggests that he can charge the battery for half an hour and then we can drive home. Of course we have to turn off the air conditioning. After half an hour Ken tells us the battery is charged. I reach for my credit card, and he says there is no charge. Someday, he says, we can do a favor for someone in our situation. OMG! Big contrast with our local service station which gave us a hard sell about having them replace the alternator, and charged us $15 for a half-hour charge the next morning so we could get to the dealership. read more

Dropped by during my lunch break in the Carrera for an oil change. Oil changes are typically $300+ at a dealership (they use a lot of oil, dry sump system), I ended up saving a lot of money, they also inspected and cleaned up the underside of the car and told me my tires were gone (285's under a Carrera are pretty hard to inspect yourself when you suspect nothing is wrong), I honestly had no idea given how much grip I had from them still. Saved myself a definite blowout during the road trip I was due to take next week. Ken and Patrick are how all mechanics should strive to be. I surprised them during a busy afternoon, and they still made time for me, even if it was for something probably routine and uninteresting. read more

Another example of a business where the people really love what they do. Ken and his team have always provided me with excellent service on my e39 M5. From the time I bring it in, through to the time I pick the car up and everywhere in between. Recently, the fuel pump on my car failed and, as a result, I had the car towed from San Jose to Pleasanton. I called Ken to advise that my car would be brought there by a tow truck company (which I should probably write a negative review about, by the way) and I mentioned to him that the driver didn't appear to be careful when loading the car on his flatbed. Ken immediately offered to assist the driver with unloading the car and reassured me that he would not let anything happen to it while it was with him. Once received, Ken phoned me to tell me that the car arrived there safe and sound and that he would look into the problem and phone me back, which he did. Told me that the fuel pump had failed and that he would have the car ready for me tomorrow (mind you, the car was dropped off there in the mid afternoon). I received a call bright and breezy the next day from Ken telling me my car was ready. AWESOME. Reasonably priced and they specialize in German automobiles only. They build trust and I have never felt as though I was paying for a service I didn't want or need. And I am a gear head and almost always perform the servicing on my cars myself. Maybe it is because it is an M5, or maybe it is because of the excellent service I have always received from SAS. I'm a younger guy so usually I get crap service from everywhere that's not just serving up a coffee or burger. I was extremely HAPPY with the initial service I've recieved from SAS. My situation is I'm pretty handy with a car and can handle 99% of the recommended inspection items on my BMW330i. Everything except for the darn warning, inspection lights and resets. A guy named Rob I think it was walked me through their prices for all the inspections and then suggested a solution that would work for me. I'll do the inspection etc on my own and then bring the car in for just the Oil Change service which includes resetting the warning lights etc. Pricing: Seemed reasonable and honest. I DON'T EVEN CARE if they are 10-25% more than Jiffy Lube or other places because to me it's all about CUSTOMER SERVICE and piece of mind. I like that someone reviewed their pricing as a FAIR price. That's all I need. Doesn't need to be cheapest just fair. I've become really jaded with people who only look for rock bottom prices. I'm an economical person but I am one to definately pay for personal service. In the end it probably all evens out anyway. Looking at the other reviews I know if I need to ask a quick question to the guys over at SAS they're not going to drag me over the coals or give me some crap runaround and in the car mechanic world that's something you can dearly pay for. read more
