I was leaving a meeting when a warning light saying one of my exterior lights wasn't working. Normally I'd deal with it later, but I was about to get on the freeway and wasn't excited about spending an hour wondering if I was accidentally inviting someone to rear-end me (or get pulled over). I stopped at a nearby gas station first, hoping someone could at least tell me which light was out. Nope, they wouldn't help. So I Googled nearby mechanics, found John's European Auto Service, and pulled in without an appointment, fully expecting to hear, "Sorry, we're booked." Instead, the guy at the front desk immediately said, "Absolutely," and sent someone out to check it. Turns out it was a brake light. Five or ten minutes later (honestly, it was so fast I wasn't even paying attention), they walked me through what they'd fixed, handed me my keys, and told me I was safe to get back on the road. I asked what I owed them, and they said, "Nothing." As a woman walking into an unfamiliar mechanic, I usually have my guard up. I'm mentally preparing for the "while we're in there..." conversation or a repair estimate that somehow requires a second mortgage. Instead, they treated me with kindness, explained everything clearly, fixed exactly what needed fixing, and sent me safely on my way. They turned what could have been a stressful afternoon into a complete non-event, and that's exactly the kind of business I want to support. 10/10 no notes. read more

For those who have a European car and are too afraid to take it to the dealership because your expecting an outrageous bill, I welcome you to John's European auto and his amazing team. Every time I come here I run into Dave; he seems like the man in charge. My family and I have been taking our cars here for years but today I had to give a shout-out to let's others know how painless they make it for us. My GL has been acting up as of late because it's getting older. Recently had the front air rides replaced for $1,800 when the dealership quoted me over $3000 and they use the same parts. The rear ones I had done by a relative in San Jose who charged me $2500 and it took a week. I dropped it off to Dave and within a few hours I got a call with the quote. (He wanted to check to make sure) Got the car back in two days now it drives like a dream. Just today had to tow the car back because it wouldn't start. Called Dave and he had a spot in back for me saved for the tow truck to put it there. Within 3 hours I get a call with the problem and quote, the car will be ready by tomorrow. Sad to revise and confirm that the original review was for BRYAN ONLY who was part of the ownership of the John's European Auto and had left the shop awhile ago. Very disappointing costumer service since Bryan's departure. Brought the car to Dave ( the current owner) a few different times looking for help to investigate the shuddering and misfiring , idle hesitation problem with check engine light on and off. Expressed the safety concerns and worsening the condition. Never got a written estimate for any diagnostic or repair. Was sent home with the cleared check engine light. After googling and approaching again to ask to possibly replacing the spark plugs and wires to start was told " it is not going to help. It's more serious..." After asking what did he mean by "more serious " ( and never even provided an estimate to fix the " more serious ) I was lectured on wire harness unit that possibly could be an issue. After committing to check if the parts available at Volvo dealerships ( I have a 2000 year model Volvo) Dave got back with me stating this part is discontinued and told me to look for the part myself at the junkyard if I wanted to fix the car. Very sad and very disappointed , especially learning later on that the wire harness was not even the problem. Unfortunately John's European is not even one star without Bryan. read more

Be aware this place! I Brought my 2008 S550 Mercedes In because it was making a squeaky noise. Brian(Owner) Of John's European Auto told me that I need to change my Pulley and Timing belt. I ask him will that make the noise go away? He promise me that will fix the problem. I came by the next day to pick up my car an paid $1000 worth of repairs. Drive it home and notice that the noise was still there. I call Brian the next day and he said bring it back so he can check on it. I told him that I was leaving on a business trip and I can bring it back next week. When I drop my car back the following Wednesday, Brian Suppose to call me and explain what he did wrong. Guess what? Not a single phone call! I have to call the shop to see if my car is Done. He said its fix and I can come by to pick my car. I was so Happy! When I pick up my car, a guy name Dave help me. My car was still making the same Squeaky noise. I ask him where is Brian? He said Brian went home but he was hiding behind his shop. Brian can't even face me for what he have Lied to me. Dave told me that the noise is coming from the Alternator. I said what? Brian told me it was from the Pulley and Timing Belt. He said if what to Chang the Alternator it will cost $700 and he can't Warranty if the noise will go away! Brian will take your Money and will NOT WARRANTY anything! Be careful everyone. They are Nice at Begining and once they take your Money, they Don't care who you are. This is My 1st YELP ever! I don't Yelp but this I have to Warn People out there!
