I did not know about this gem of a sushi restaurant was tucked in this low key parking lot! I was recommended by a friend of mine and this place did not disappoint! Some of us ordered the Omakase and really enjoyed it. And some of us ordered sushi and hand rolls and to be honest everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and was like butter! The staff was very patient and thorough with explaining each omakase dish. The restaurant is on the smaller side but very nice for a date. It's dimly lit and fairly quiet. It was an overall amazing dinner and can't wait to come back!

You had me at omakase! We both had the regular omakase and from the first bite to the last I was delighted with the freshness of the fish, the simplicity of the flavors and taste of each delicate bite. As each plate was placed on the table the waitress let us know what was being served, then if we should eat one or the other first and also if we should use soy sauce or not. Everything was fabulous but I will say my favorite was the tuna and the butterfish. The blue crab handroll at the end is given on my top of the list and great way to end the meal. Located in a small plaza with a small parking lot although we were able to find parking pretty easily. Ambiance is casual yet nice.

The color is off and it looked soggy and more like old raw beef

I used to live in Los Angeles, and ate here many times. I ordered into my hotel. The spicy tuna looked very weird, and I took half a bite which I shouldn't have. I started vomitting and feel so sick now.

Boyfriend took me here for a birthday dinner 05/2022, which was a really nice gesture! We got the Japanese omakase course for $170pp at table service. Was not a great experience at all, service just dropped off the pieces as chef made it without explanation sometimes and the pieces sometimes lacked flavor/tasted still frozen Was our first omakase experience together, though we've had it before separately- and it was not good :( so sad Go somewhere else and have your money better spent

A solid spot for sushi. I had the Omakase course. The scallop was overcooked in the shell trio and the albacore sashimi was ok. The sushi dishes were delicious. The servers were quick with delivering the dishes and picking up the empty ones.

I was kinda hesitant about this place due to the reviews from their other branch. Our experience is definitely the opposite of those bad reviews. We booked through OpenTable on a weekday. We were the first customers during their opening. We had an amazing service from the waitresses, they are so attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. The sushi are so fresh. We ordered the Omakase Course (about ~$90 per person). My partner who has been a fan sushi attested how fresh and smooth the cut of each sushi was. The presentation is just okayC nothing really special. We had probably 12-15 different kinds of sushi. It was so worth it. My favorite was the butterfish. The sushi place is tucked into business plaza so there's a parking lots but it could get pretty busy.

Service - Not good Food - Very good Pros: - Rice to fish ration was perfect! Not too much rice & the fish on top was a good portion. Thick slice of fish. No skimping on the fish which I LOVED! - Fish was very fresh - They brought 2 pieces of sushi at a time which was a good pace. - Perfect lighting inside the restaurant. Not too dark but not too bright for a sushi restaurant - Servers came by frequently, so my drink was always refilled. Cons: - I wish the wasabi was fresh. Considering the price of this restaurant, I would've wanted the wasabi to be the real & fresh kind. Not the fake American kind. - Sushi rice was not traditional (As a person from Japan, I can tell you that the rice was not authentic, but nonetheless good) - ***THE SERVICE & SERVERS: Rude! And did not speak good English and was very difficult to understand. When we asked for clarification on one of the sushi, one of the server rolled her eyes and sighed. And every time they brought our plates out, they kind of just tossed It on the table. All of the ladies serving us did not have good attitudes and were not pleasant. Also, a minute after they seated us, they came and asked for our drinks and appetizers. We asked for a couple more minutes and they just stayed hovering over us which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. It was a bummer that the servers were rude and the service here was poor. This restaurant would be a lot better & a lot more recommendable if the servers were better and more personable and kind. I am glad that the sushi was great; however, considering the cost of the sushi here, I'm not sure if it's worth coming back to with this type of poor customer service. My favorite was the scallop sushi and tuna sashimi. I ordered 10 pieces of sushi & tuna sashimi & my friend ordered the Omakase set. I didn't get the Omakase set for myself because I knew that I wouldn't like some of the plates included in the Omakase set & the Omakase is more expensive ($100+)

Came here with some friends for omakase. It was pretty easy to get a reservation. Small parking lot but, we were able to find parking pretty easily. Our table was waiting for us and the servers worked well together to attend to our party. I enjoyed the regular omakase while other people in our group got Japanese omakase. Great place to have a conversation with a group of friends. We bought some champagne and while opening the bottle the waitress spilled some of the champagne. She apologized and brought us a small bottle of preseco. I thought that was a classy touch!

F O O D We were trying to find a quality Omakase, and Sasabune BH came up. We booked a ressy on Open Table, parked in their lot, and snagged the bar seating (there was outdoor seating too by the way). We opted for the Japanese Omakase (as opposed to the regular omakase), and it was delicious. Definitely worth what we paid! D R I N K S Although we normally opt for the beverage pairing, we didn't go with the sake pairing. Instead we ordered a few beers & sake. It was enough. S E R V I C E The sushi chef AND wait staff were super attentive. O V E R A L L The quality of the fish here was good. If I'm in the area and craving Omakase, I would definitely swing by.

So good. It's more traditional sushi but they do it in a special way with different flavors and toppings and warm rice. All of the sushi was delicious. Their spicy tuna crispy rice is good but very different than every other sushi spot, which is still fine. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night and parking is not that easy in their free lot because it's shared with the other places in the plaza. The kids of people picking up at Domino's were kind of annoying, as they were crawling on top of the Sasabune tables. They were kicked out soon enough and adults were seated there. The restaurant brings out heat lamps when it gets colder so outdoor seating is pretty good there. I would get all the sushi there again and skip the sashimi and spicy tuna crispy rice. Order all the sushi and a roll.

Yep.. haven't been back to Sasabune Beverly Hills location in years !!! Yet, the simplicity & freshness is still as I remember it. Highly recommend the (9 course) Omakase and then you can order your additional favorites, as you desire; especially if you are like me - not a huge fan of uni which is included in their Japanese Omakase Course. The giant clam ($20/piece) was the winner for me; yet that is my weakness!!! And the butter fish nigiri was delectably a stand out. We added another butter fish nigiri order + some other favs with our omakase. Truthfully, I would say my toro nigiri was not in the same caliber of butteriness as compared to Nobu, Nozawa Bar, Koi, Matsuhisha, Otoro - but I'm admittedly particular with my buttery fatty fatty toro. (So I knocked it down 1 star to 4 stars; but I would have rated it 4.5 STARS if they offered fractional stars for personal reviews).. Of course the fresh quality & traditional presentation makes the Omakase experience adventuresome & fun. Additional highlights were the flavors of shell trio, the halibut / red snapper nigiri, & the scallop / bonito nigiri. We had a little too much dry sake & I accidentally spilled an entire bottle of Pellegríno on the floor & broke the glass. What a mess.. can't take me anywhere ?? I was trying to stay hydrated. Service was excellent & very friendly. Easy online rsvp through Open Table. Their private parking lot also makes it convenient.

OMG-aske. Wrong spelling yes (Omakase) but the sushi here is crazy good. We also really liked the seaweed salad and sautéed asparagus. The sake ain't half bad either. Might be a bit biased since we barely ate sushi during the 2020 lockdowns but wow .. this place is legit. We chose to come here over the Brentwood location because of the option to dine outdoors. Parking here was also pretty easy on a Sunday evening. 100% recommended and we'll start saving money to visit again soon!

The staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. There were some delays in getting a few of the dishes to the table, but the service itself was still good and the servers did their best to take care of us. The food was fresh, high quality, and definitely enjoyable. However, I'm someone who loves fine dining and high-end restaurants, so I tend to be very picky when it comes to reviews. While everything we ordered tasted very good, there wasn't a single dish that really stood out as unique or unforgettable. Nothing made me stop and think, "Wow, I've never had anything like this before." The food was delicious, but not necessarily memorable. The pricing is on the expensive side, but that's also what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and location, so I don't consider that a negative. Overall, we had a nice evening, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the service. I would absolutely consider coming back in the future to try more items from the menu. Maybe there are some signature dishes that we missed this time around. If a future visit impresses me a little more, I could definitely see this becoming a 5-star review. For now, it's a solid 4 stars from me.

I was expecting more balanced and fresh flavors. On the positive side, there were a few dishes I did enjoy. The mushroom salad was very good, and the cucumber salad was fresh and enjoyable as well. We were in the area for my son's doctor's appointment and discovered this place nearby. What a bonus! If you're anywhere close, it's absolutely worth a visit. The sushi here is next-level. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients--the freshness of the rice, the fish, and the attention to detail in every bite. I started with salmon and tuna nigiri, plus a salmon roll that was cut into small bite-sized pieces. Honestly, I was popping them into my mouth like candy. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have a great selection of hot foods. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by freshly prepared unagi (eel), which looked amazing. They also offer katsu, and other ready-to-eat items. I grabbed a Spam musubi, and wow--it may be the best Spam musubi I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Hawaii. The Spam still had a slight crispiness, the egg added richness, and the seasoning brought everything together with an incredible umami flavor. What I love most is that the place reminds me of a Japanese convenience store (konbini)--but an upscale version. It's like Tsukigi market had a store in Ginza. You can buy fresh seafood, ingredients to make your own sushi at home, or simply grab a meal and enjoy it there. The quality throughout the store is outstanding. The atmosphere is great too. There's always a buzz of people shopping for sushi or enjoying their food outside in the seating area. It feels lively and authentic. One suggestion: try to get there early if you can. They had so many ready-made sushi trays, rolls, nigiri, and prepared foods available, but a lot of them were already nearly sold out by the time I got there. I noticed a sign saying items are made fresh regularly throughout the day, which is a great sign of how popular and fresh everything is. Still, if you want first pick of all the goodies, I'd recommend arriving earlier. My only real complaint is the parking. The lot is small, and during busy times you'll probably need some patience. I visited on a weekday during rush hour, but once I got my food, it was completely worth it. The drive back to Simi Valley flew by because I couldn't stop eating and thinking about how good everything was. I honestly can't wait to find another excuse to come back. This place is such a treat. Eventually, a lovely girl finally came to my aid as I awkwardly stood there to find this manager, and she made the worthwhile effort to do that. The initial idiot made a quip, "Oh there he is", and I shook my head. It should also be said that the manger isn't exactly a brain surgeon either. They hire privileged idiots with no mind for common sense for the front and regular idiots managing these places. Their sushi and other dishes also looked cheap showcased under their plexiglass. But the food was great as always. It's sadly over $100 for us to get the trust me and nozawa trust me which feels pretty high but the quality of fish is always exceptional.

Service was on point. Cups were always filled, and they described each dish as it came out so we knew what we were eating. My recommendation is to get the Trust Me omakase (we got the Nozawa Trust Me) so you are able to try a bit of everything. They even offered to change a hand roll into regular rolls since they knew I was sharing some of the courses with my kids. Nice touch. The bathrooms also have both scented and unscented soaps, the latter for prior to your meal. There's a parking garage across the street which was very convenient. If you haven't tried Sugarfish before, it's definitely worth stopping by. I imagine all their locations are pretty tasty.

Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.

My friend and I felt like we were getting the freshest cut you can for the price. Some even more fresh than others. It was very quiet during the Saturday we went, which gave us a lot of privacy to chat over delicious fish. With the excellent customer service and engaging staff, you bet we will be back for their other omakase options.
