I completely agree with the other reviews citing Dr. Rastegar as a slimy used car salesman. I was completely ripped off by him and I would avoid him at all cost. While he closed his own practice, he merged with another practitioner which is now called Midtown Dental Care. Please avoid him there. I was treated by Dr. Rastegar for Invisalign. I came upon his office through a Groupon deal. He quote me $4700 for the whole procedure when my teeth weren't that bad. I mostly wanted to align my two front teeth with the rest and I had one crooked tooth on the bottom. He gave me the express treatment vs. the full treatment. As I was naive and eager, I agreed and later found out that the express treatment was only about $2k. He said the treatment could fix my overbite which it never did. He later claimed it was because of my jaw misalignment that it was not possible to fix the overbite. This I don't understand how he could not see earlier. When the express treatment was over, my teeth were not straight where my two front teeth still stuck out. After complaining, he gave me a second round of express treatment citing that it's almost like a full treatment now. In the end, my two front tooth were still not aligned with the rest of my teeth. To this day, I regret going to him. I gave him 2 stars as his staff were very friendly and kind, but he is only out to get your money! read more

A few months after I visited Dr. Rastegar's office, I moved to DC. I initially put up with the email blasts even though I was no longer in the area. After a year in DC and knowing for certain that I would not be returning, I unsubscribed from the email list. Today, I got a phone call from Dr. Rastegar's office on my CELL PHONE that I was due in for a cleaning. I politely explained that I've been living in DC for almost two years and to please remove me from the phone list. The person promptly hung up the phone on me! Yes I go back to NYC to get my teeth done! Sally does the best tooth cleaning in the east and deals with my dental issues with ease and grace. Plus she's got a massage chair, good music and a spit sink that make my visit a bit easier. For tough jobs she'll even breakout the laughing gas for me! The entire staff to so friendly that it almost doesn't feel like a dentist appointment until the lectures about my lack of flossing begin. Dr Rastegar is an all around great dentist. I still recommend him to my friends back east. He might want to consider updating his Yelp photo. I'm sure they take all kinds of insurance not that I have dental coverage. I love this dental practice! I started an Invisalign treatment here in January of 2014 and took full advantage of their other services such as general check ups and even had my gums cleaned here. My old insurance covered most of the costs and I never minded paying out of pocket because they're super friendly and always worked around my difficult schedule back then. Sadly, my new insurance doesn't cover any part of cleanings here so I only stop in for follow up visits regarding my Invisalign treatment. I'm new to this office about 8 months in and found: Dr. Rastegar is absolutely wonderful--not only a great dentist providing outstanding patient care with an exceptional bedside manner, but also a really nice person. He is completely professional and draws on his extensive experience in dentistry. I've always been highly critical of dentist in general but I have total confidence in Dr. Rastegar. My insurance does not cover everything in full at this office like it does at other dental providers, but I don't mind paying the additional cost because Dr. Regtegar aims to be the best in the industry. Quite frankly,his entire staff deserve the highest praise starting from the ladies at the front desk to the dental assistants who are always gentle, friendly, and accommodating. Right now my son is doing Invisalign & I could not be more pleased with how it's going. It was the most unpleasant experience for the most disappointing outcome!!! Avoid at all costs if you don't want to be charged inflated prices so they can pay the rent on their uber-fancy Madison Avenue office!!! I had bought a $50 groupon for an invisalign consultation and $2,000 off the procedure. I was on time for my appt but was made to wait a full hour. I kept asking how much longer and every time they said it was coming up, but after all was said and done, the endless wait was a full hour! So when I finally got in, the doctor was nice enough with a gentle demeanor but after the 10 minute consultation, he said that the cost for my treatment would be $4,400. I was surprised it was still so expensive considering I'd been to about 3 other consultations before that had assessed my treatment as anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000. I asked if that included the $2,000 off, and he said that yes it did. I then asked if he would match the price from another office, but he said no, that it would compromise the treatment. I knew that was BS since Invisalign creates and send out the trays, and all the practitioner does is monitor progress. Anyhow, it was overall an unprofessional, shady experience where they charge $50 for an invisalign consultation (that is normally free) and pretend to take off $2000 when in reality they just wildly inflate their prices. Enraged when I look at the bill for his dental services. Absolutely obscene prices for ridiculously banal dental work. I went there twice, for a dental check up, x-rays and after a few days, for two minuscule cavities. The charge for all this was 1,200, the insurance covered 80% of it, but used all my yearly spend towards dental...Now I am left with a lot of dental problems and no insurance money to cover for it. I am enraged and completely baffled how he can get away with this. He will perform unnecessary full-mouth dental x-rays only to make sure you leave his office after the first exam with at least a $500 charge. I don't even want to think about unnecessary radiation. Then, before you leave, he makes sure you come back for 'urgent' dental work in the next 2 days...enough so you wouldn't have time to get a bill and see the charges that exceed any reasonable costs. The way he works and gets you back in his office is not giving you all the info the first time and all the costs you ask for. He will as you to come back for a second appointment so he can tell you the cost and perform some flimsy fillings that will ONLY cost about $800... I am glad I didn't get to go back for a third time. The place is set up like a business. He has several dental rooms and he will switch between you and other 5 patients simultaneously. While he is exaggeratedly nice, I felt like in a car dealership the whole time. I've been going to Dr Rastegar's office since I first moved to the city 3 years ago and they have kept my pearly whites, well, pearly and white, not to mention free of cavities. Located in Midtown - which used to be super convenient for me as I worked a block away, but still it's just a short hop from Grand Central - the location makes it easy peasy to duck out of work to make your appointment. All of the staff are extremely pleasant and I've never waited more than 5 minutes (max!) before being ushered in. As the other reviews mention, Sally is the bomb, and I always look forward to my teeth cleanings with her. She also turned me on to the Oral B electric toothbrush and now every time I go she comments on how great my gums look (yay!) You also get a little goody bag of floss, toothpaste, listerine and the standard toothbrush which are all perfect for your travel case or drawer at work. All in all, a great dental office if you're new to the hood or looking for a change. They definitely treat you like family and always remember your name! read more

I wish more doctors were like him! His procedures were all well done and have lasted many years. In fact, the veneers he fitted me with have lasted almost 20 years now. I trust him so much that when these fail (hopefully not anytime soon), I will get on a plane and have Dr. Rastegar do them again. Oh, and I couldn't forget to mention Sally! I've been coming here for a little over a year now. I hygienist there is amazing and is very thorough when cleaning. However I wouldn't recommend coming here. The dentist is rude and a horrible communicator and the office is poorly managed. Only came there for convenience but definitely will be looking elsewhere for another primary dentist. He found out I did Invisilign elsewhere and he kept saying that he could've done a better job and kept pointing on issues ' in his eyes' that could've been better if he did it. Found Dr Rastegar through the Invisalign Groupon for my husband. He'd already had the treatment and needed some follow up work done, so I called to ask if the deal applied for something like that. It didn't, but the receptionist said he could still come in for a free consultation to figure out what they could do for him. Husband came back raving about the place. They worked out a payment and treatment plan so he could pay for his new Invisalign treatment in installments, and were generally nice and friendly all along. Now, I'm no fan of dentists. I've had several terrible ones, so it had been *mumble mumble* years since I'd visited one. My husband, knowing that I really should see one and since we have dental insurance now there were no more excuses, explained my pathological fear to Dr Rastegar, who totally understood how I felt and made sure to hook me up with his nicest hygienist, Sally. I was skeptical, but still went in to see her. Sally is *amazing.* She was understanding of my nerves, relaxed me as much as possible, then dove in to start cleaning..only to have to deliver the bad news that I didn't need just a regular cleaning, but a serious periodontal treatment. Naturally I was a little more freaked out by this, and she even offered to go get my husband from the waiting room so I'd have someone to hold my hand while she novacained the heck out of my gums. Sally promised that soon I would be looking forward coming to the dentist. Four periodontal treatments later and I'm not exactly looking *forward* to my next (regular) cleaning, but I'm definitely not dreading it like I was before I started going! I was given 12 out of 13, his office insisted they gave me 13 but didn't and insisted I paid another 350 to order 13. I went back to his office and my teeth is far from being straight and I told him I wasn't satisfied. He insisted i start wearing retainers, and I was confused because i thought the policy was to keep going if the patient was not satisfied with the outcome. i wasted 3,500 of my own money and he didn't care that i wasn't happy with the outcome. A nightmare of a dentist. Overcharged and given second-rate results. Initial quote was twice as much as the going rate. Then when I told him what I had paid in the past, he lowered the fee to the going rate. He has this slimy used car salesman vibe. Nice at first but then quickly turns into a Dr. Jekyll when asked to fine tune something. Also, I understand offices are social distancing and don't want crowds but I've never come across another patient. Red flag is should have been the dentist who has no patients. I agree with all the bad reviews here. They finally got on board with following COVID safety practices but they didn't at first (maskless dentist and assistant?!). About 8 months ago,I became interested in getting Invisalign treatments. Dr.Rastegar , explained and walked me through the whole treatment and the cost of it. His staff helped me to sign up for the no iterest patient financing which took less than 5 minutes.They even did all the paper work for me and also followed up with my insurance company to cover part of the expences.I am almost done with my treatment,and my teeth look great. A few years ago, they came to my place of work for an office fair and said that they accept my insurance. When I went in for a regular cleaning I was told I absolutely needed to have a number of other procedures done. The urgency of the doctors tone led to me to go ahead and do the procedures and when I asked how much it would cost, the price quoted was not what I was billed. After my cleaning and procedures were performed I received a HUGE bill. I also later on found out that I really did not need these procedures done at all. Also when the dentist performed the procedure, he brushed by gums very badly...and the procedure was not on my gums. Anyway, When I disputed the bill with the office manager, she then informed me that they were "OUT OF NETWORK". They did not tell me they were out of network. When I asked them all they said was "we accept your insurance". Beware of a large inflated bill and make sure you know what you will end up paying before doing any procedure. Ask if you in network or out of network. Also, do not get swindled into doing other procedures that you do not need. My scaling was performed by the hygienist and she did a very good job although looking back I realize that she totally overmedicated me for it. Probably to charge insurance. Don't be fooled by their nice demeanor...its a ploy. This office is very deceitful. I felt compelled to write a review b/c I still get emails and messages to come back years later. They're like telemarketers that never go away. read more

I purchased a $49 Groupon for an Invisalign consultation and $2,000 off the procedure. Dr. Rastegar was extremely nice when I met him last week. He seemed very comforting and had a great demeanor. Then after about 10 minutes of looking at my teeth, talking to me about Invisalign and answering my questions, he totally changed and became very pushy. He informed me that even with my $2000 Groupon discount the procedure was going to take 5-8 months and cost $4400 (based on another review below this could be a magic number he uses). The payment would be broken up into thirds. One-third that same day, one-third after I watch the Invisalign movie and the last third after the 3rd set of trays. He became very pushy insisting that I start treatment that day and pay him the first third. He even said that if the price was too high I could sign up for a payment plan on the spot with Chase with one of his computers. It was to the point where I explicitly said to him that I did not want to feel pressured into making this decision and that he was being pushy. Gone was nice Dr. Rastegar. Visibly annoyed, he informed me I had 10 days to take his offer and that I should make the appointment that day because his appointments fill up fast and it won't be his fault if I won't be able to make an appointment within 10 days. I took a week to think long and hard if I wanted to continue treatment with him. Honestly, if he didn't get all Jekyll and Hyde on me I probably would have just gone ahead with the treatment that day but his demeanor changed so drastically that I just couldn't trust him with my teeth. Beyond simply being open on Saturday, Dr Rastegar was very professional and was very good at explaining the course of treatment and why he made certain recommendations. Due to paying rent and other bills, she helped me design a pay schedule suitable for paying off my bill. She never rushed, bombarded or hassled me. She was very understanding. I can not say enough amazing things about Dr. Rastegar and his entire team! I had been contemplating for years about trying Invisalign to correct a significant overlap and crowding. I had gone to half a dozen dentists and free consultations and was growing tired of the whole process. I was always petrified of the dentist office as a child and wasn't having much luck as an adult either. Most of the consultations and dentists I had come across were pushy, arrogant and not very informative. A friend of mine had recently gone in for some cosmetic work with Dr. Rastegar and recommended him to me- particularly because of his bedside manner. I called up, got an appointment the next day and pretty much fell in love with the office the minute I walked in. The assistants were warm and friendly and Dr. Rastegar himself was incredibly patient, kind and made me feel at ease immediately. He listened to all my questions, concerns and fears and then addressed each of them one by one. It was without a doubt the most HONEST and comprehensive consultation I had ever had. He knew so much about Invisalign and the entire process so I knew I was in good hands. The office offers dental programs as well through Chase so I was able to apply for a loan/line of credit that would allow me to pay off the balance at 0% interest for up to 2 years. I filled out the paperwork immediately and that very same day we started the process. I am almost at the end of my treatment now and my results are unreal! I was terrified of dentists. Having only had one good experience (and that was as a child) I was by no means looking forward to my overdue and very necessary appointment. Even coming highly recommended, I was still a skeptic...until my first meeting with Dr. Rastegar. Apprehensive and distrusting, Dr. Rastegar's uncommonly warm, yet professional bedside manner calmed me instantly. As he read over my chart, he asked relevant questions and listened attentively when I answered. He addressed my concerns and did not make light of my fears.
