Being a foodie, I like tasting different cuisines.. if your office is next to Lexington Avenue I'm sure you will have a lot of options to taste.. of course I've tried many indo-Pakistani Bangladeshi restaurants here, but never tasted Nepalese food .. I was walking by and saw taste from Everest restaurant and wanted to give it a shot... nice location right in the heart of Lexington Avenue.. interior was good lots of tables to sit and eat.. Not much of crowd when I went on a weekday . Service was quick. They had a lot of options, but I chose vegetarian thali. It was about 20$ with tax . It was surely a different cuisine, but to be frank it was too bland and not my style... Italian also does not have a Puri or chapati ... they did give a bowl of rice, Dhaal, potato subzi , pappas and sweet . I don't like wasting food and almost completed the whole thali. All all the food had less salt and less flavor... I don't know maybe that's the authentic Nepali style. overall a decent experience... wanted to give three stars, but gave it a 4 star .

I'd been wanting to check out more spots in "curry hill" so I stopped by taste from everest which was such a hidden gem. The flavors in everything were spectacular and service was great. My only complaint is that our table was quite close to the door so we had a cold breeze blowing in every once in a while. Otherwise, would definitely come back for more of the menu.

You guys, this is one of the greatest meals of my life, no joke. Went here in person the other day after ordering delivery a couple years ago and was completely floored. Their Chicken Jhol Momo is a top 5 dish of my life! The warm and comforting broth, slight kick, the sweetness... I cannot stop thinking about it. My friend with me ordered it again the next day. Their Butter Chicken is also the best I've had, so creamy and flavorful. Loved their Aloo Gobi and Garlic Naan. I cannot wait to come back and get their Samosa Chaat again and desserts. I'm never in this area but hey, now I'm coming monthly. 5 stars!!!

The veggie steamed Momo's were good, and the chutneys that accompanied it were flavorful. I also got the veggie thali and the Alu Bodi Tama. The thali was good, naan was light and crispy. The Alu Bodi was a little tangy for my taste. The interiors are well decorated, and even though it got busy after I entered, the service was still good.

Ordered some rice and naan! Ok so I and some stomach issues and this place was around the corner where I saw good reviews and I like me some basmati rice. So decided get some rice bowl and naan. The most delicate naan and crispy while the basmati has no salt and was moist and yummy!

Hidden gem! The food is delicious. A nice change from the usual. I keep returning for the Veg Johl Momo. Spicy, fresh, and satisfying.

Despite spending much of my time in this area, I often overlook a lot of the culinary gems along Lexington Ave. A little winter cold prompted me to seek out some chicken soup, and Taste of Everest's Nepalese version did just the trick. I was instinctively drawn to their menu of spicy soups and momos, which I knew would soothe me back to health. The thukpa's spice and ginger tinged broth, vegetables, chicken, and noodles proved to be the antidote I needed. Himalayan food is generally less salty and milder than I like, but on this day all I needed was something hot (temperature-wise) and fiery (spice-wise) to clear my congestion, and I could feel the tightness in my chest loosen its grip. The momos, which are the restaurant's signature doughy dumplings, had the right dumpling skin texture, but I'm not sure I liked the chicken interior too much. Perhaps the quality of the meat or the strong onion-y flavor put me off, but nothing a dousing of hot sauce couldn't obscure. The space is modest, and likely more popular as a takeout/delivery spot or a place for a quick bite. But sometimes the most satisfying eateries come wrapped in the most humblest packaging.

The ambiance and service was good. I went at 300 pm on Friday before heading home. I can't eat rice or bread so he states the mutton was with vegetables and lentil soup. Lentil soup was excellent. Mutton was delicious! The vegetables were burnt on the hot plate. Because I can't eat rice, the vegetables are important to me.

Fell in love with this place again- Recently tried their daal-bhaat thali and I must say it is one of the best thalis- also the servings are huge portions, and everything is freshly made! Also, their chicken tikka platter is great too

Quaint restaurant that gives off home made food. All the food is delicious. Everything we ordered had great flavor. Garlic naan and Smokey butter chicken were favorites. Food takes a while to come out but it made us think they made everything fresh in the kitchen. We'll be back!

Wow there are so many similar restaurants on this particular block, but this one stands out. Lamb Biryani ($17) - the lamb was so tender and the biryani was incredibly flavorful. Aloo paratha ($6) - filling, stuffed with potato I think. This was delicious dipped in the tikka masala. Came with 4 pieces. Chicken tikka masala ($16) - This actually might've been the best chicken tikka masala I've had in nyc. It's on the sweeter side, which I like. The portion was more than enough and the chicken was also tender. Came with rice. Soup momos - these were chicken momos in soup. Thought this was skippable, since it's quite literally dumplings in soup but they did taste good (just nothing noteworthy). Soup was light and had a bit of a sour kick. Came here on a Monday night and it was easy to get a table, though they were definitely busy. It's a little tight between the tables.

Dhamaka translates to "explosion" in Hindi, and the name perfectly captures the restaurant's bold,…read moreunapologetic approach to Indian cuisine. Dhamaka opened in February 2021 inside Essex Market on Manhattan's Lower East Side. It is part of Unapologetic Foods, the restaurant group founded by restaurateur Roni Mazumdar and Chef Chintan Pandya. Rather than serving the familiar Indian-American standards, Dhamaka focuses on intensely flavored, rustic regional dishes from across India--many of them rarely found on restaurant menus. On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar without a reservation, which is one of the advantages of stopping by spontaneously. I ordered the Kashmiri Gosht Chaamp, a standout appetizer priced at $24. The dish is inspired by the comforting, homestyle cooking of Kashmir. Boneless lamb loin is coated in fragrant garam masala, smoky Kashmiri chiles, and a light chickpea-flour batter, then cooked in rich clarified butter, or ghee. The result is exceptional: a lightly crisp exterior surrounding remarkably tender, juicy lamb, with the warm aromatics and chile providing plenty of flavor without overwhelming the meat. I also ordered a white basmati rice to soak up the intensely flavored ghee remaining on the plate. It is a simple but highly satisfying way to finish the dish. I paired the Kashmiri Gosht Chaamp with one of Dhamaka's Unapologetic house beers, created through a collaboration between Chef Chintan Pandya's Unapologetic Foods and Brooklyn-based Transmitter Brewing. The beers were specifically developed to complement the restaurant's intense spices and chile-forward cooking. They are generally light, crisp, and dry, making them particularly effective alongside Dhamaka's richer and more heavily spiced dishes. The Basmati Rice Premium Lager is particularly fitting for the restaurant: its light body and subtle floral character provide a refreshing counterpoint to Dhamaka's bold spices. Dhamaka's Culinary Philosophy True to its name, Dhamaka delivers an "explosion" of flavor. The menu deliberately moves away from familiar dishes such as chicken tikka masala and instead explores lesser-known provincial specialties, street food, and offal. The restaurant's cooking is rustic, intensely spiced, and unapologetically regional. This is Indian food designed to challenge expectations rather than conform to them. Signature Dishes to Try If you are exploring the menu, several dishes I have enjoyed over the years: * Champaran Meat: Mutton slow-cooked in a rustic clay pot with a pool of dark chile oil and an entire head of roasted garlic. * Goat Neck Dum Biryani: An intensely aromatic biryani featuring goat and rice, traditionally sealed in a heavy pot with flatbread. * Paneer Tikka: Freshly made in-house paneer with an exceptionally creamy, delicate texture. The Atmosphere Dhamaka occupies a corner space inside Essex Market, with an industrial yet colorful interior, vibrant murals, and bright lighting. The seating is intimate and tightly arranged, and the room can become loud and energetic--a setting that matches the restaurant's exuberant cooking. Planning Your Visit Dinner reservations can be competitive, so booking ahead is advisable. That said, the bar can be a useful option for a spontaneous visit, as my most recent experience demonstrated. Dhamaka is not trying to be the Indian restaurant for everyone. It is a restaurant with a very specific point of view: bold spices, unfamiliar regional dishes, rich flavors, and food that refuses to apologize for being Indian. For me, the Kashmiri Gosht Chaamp and an Unapologetic beer made an excellent combination--a particularly memorable way to experience what Dhamaka does best.

The only issue I have is that the entrees don't come with rice or roti. You have to buy those separately. Idk what you're meant to eat your daal with, but be prepared to spend extra on rice. Other issue is that the heat level is very low. My companion got a meat dish, and I got a vegan dish. Both were extremely mild. Also, they don't bring onion and green chili to go with the food. It was weird to order like a Punjabi chhole dish, and have it be mild and have none of the onion/green chili that you see at Punjabi restaurants. That said, would 100% come back.
