Made a reservation for a Friday night. Note that they do not allow changes to reservations or answer the phone on weekends, so be on time! My boyfriend and I shared: + Baby goat kebab - good though texture is super soft, wasn't expecting that + Roomali roti - fine, would get another bread next time + kerala fish curry - excellent, favorite dish that eyes + Side of rice (curry doesn't come with it, but it's pretty essential, so kind of annoying that they charge for it) Overall I prefer their downtown spot Kanyakumari, but this was solid.

My favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. Highly recommend a reservation as it can get busy. Haven't seen roomali roti at any Indian restaurant in a while so I devoured it here. The chicken tikka is a MUST try! It absolutely melts in your mouth. If you order it as an app be sure to save the buttery sauce to dip your naan / roti in. Butter chicken was amazing. We also got the seasonal lassi which was lychee for us. This was insanely good and nothing like I've ever had before. Lastly for dessert, I'm not huge on cardamom so the chai cake was just okay but it's an interesting experience and definitely shareable. The ambiance is great for gatherings and celebrations. We even got to witness a birthday celebration at the table next to us. The staff goes all out to make it dramatic and enjoyable.

Heard great things about this Indian place and there were many vegetarian options. I got the aloo tikka and shahi paneer (the paneer tikka was not an option this time). The aloo tikka was very good but the shahi paneer was a bit too sweet for my taste. I also got the mango lychee laasi which was amazing! For dessert we got the chai cake and gulab jamun pancakes! The chai cake I heard was really good but honestly was pretty disappointing as the taste was okay and the cake texture felt weird. The gulaab jamun pancakes were amazing and probably my favorite item here! Overall great experience and would recommend trying.

Great restaurant, very spacious, fun atmosphere. The menu is extensive and includes some unique dishes. The food was good, full of flavor, the biryani was especially outstanding. The punch to share was interesting.

Ambience (pretty dark, dimly lit; could be slightly brighter. I understand it's a fine fine restaurant but still) food (vegetarian and non vegetarian flare was delish but the cocktails were not) and service was excellent but service charge and tax was not! 20% gratuity inclusive Please book a table in advance for no wait. Charged in case you cancel the table early or even at the nth hour.

Aesthetically pleasing upon entry and as you walk in further, it only gets better. A large group of us visited to have a nice Indian meal to honor India's Independence Day last year and return felt honored by the service throughout the night. They ended our meal with complimentary Indian sweets to celebrate the occasion. That's a nice touch! Let's see what they have in store for you guys this year... Our large group must have sampled most if not all items on their menu, but my side of the table was very pleased with the following: Baby Goat Doori Kebab (5/5) - tender and flavorful and theatrical in the way it's served. Butter Chicken (4/5) - great preparation but could have been less spicy. Naan (4/5) - the butter naan was spot on but the garlic naan was rather crispy than soft. I didn't mind it, but I can see that being an issue considering how naan is expected to be - soft and stretchy. A few misses on the menu were: Grilled Prawns Appetizer (3.5/5) the cook was inconsistent across the pieces as they didn't plop out of the shell as you would expect. Flavors were great but the experience a little off putting. The paneer dishes were mostly misses since the texture and quality was reminiscent of frozen paneer that I buy at the market. At a restaurant, I anticipate a fresh, melt in your mouth experience. Roomali roti (3/5) was on the tougher side rather than being tissue/handkerchief like. Good experience, hits the spot!

Absolutely fantastic experience here. Walked in on a Saturday night to a full house but we were able to get two seats at the bar. Amber took care of us and was greatly responsible for our wonderful evening. Being unfamiliar with many of the dishes, she helped us decide on what we should order as first timers. We loved the butter chicken tikka kebabs and paneer as our starters and then enjoyed the korma and dal as our mains. The garlic naan was perfect for sopping up the delectable sauces. It's an authentic flavor explosion here and we can't wait to come back.

Daal Makhani - not the best I've had. It's ok.

Came back to this place after a year, this time with my husband, who is a non vegetarian. I say it again - if you are a vegetarian that does not eat paneer (like me), the options are limited, for an Indian restaurant. It's definitely a pricey restaurant where the appetizers are $20 and above. So keep that in mind. I ordered similar things: - Aaloo Tikki Chaat: it's delicious. The order comes with two tikkis, so plenty to share with another person. - Sweet Potato Chaat: this was interesting mix of sweet potato mashed with some sort of veggie kabab. Loved it. - Daal Makhani: this is ok. I'm a big Daal Makhani snob and I've eaten amazing Daals in NYC. This daal is not as delicious as I've eaten at other places. This place also serves paan, which was a surprise. We both got two each. My husband loved his Butter Chicken. Definitely worth trying it out. Not my favorite in NYC, but recommend you try atleast once.

Great service, fast and attentive. The drinks were good, particularly if you're adverse to sweet drinks. However, careful if you are looking for something sweet. We asked for a sweeter drink for someone at the table and got the pineapple raita, which was just straight spice. The food was not our favorite, particularly for the steep prices. The naan was nice, but everything else was really one note (spice). I was particularly excited about the sweet potato chaat so it was really disappointing that the actual potato components were super flavorless.

    Soya malai chaap
    Sanchita O.

Come here for the kebabs!! I've tried the butter chicken tikka, goat dori kebab, and the malai chaap, and each one delivered. The malai soya chaap stood out with its unique stuffing of onions and chilies - flavorful, a little unexpected, and really well done. The menu has so many intriguing kebab options, I already have a list for next time. I skipped the mains this time around. On a previous visit (a couple of years ago), I found them a bit underwhelming -- the rose paneer kofta was too firm and chewy, and the kheema didn't leave much of an impression. That said, I'm hoping things have improved since then and I'll definitely give the mains another shot in the future. Still, even if you stick solely to the kebabs, it makes for a delicious and satisfying meal. I also got the chai cake dessert which was tasty as well. Their ambiance is nice and the service is quick and pleasant as well. Also would love to try some of their drinks next time around.

We had just a great experience here. Food was authentic to classic indian food with elevated seasoning. Ambiance: They've done a great job setting up the restaurant. It's good beautiful but intimate seating with low lights and teal colors. They also have this really nice outdoor/indoor area that's been painted with peacock feathers. I really like that they kept the brick wall look and have added designs to it to enhance the restaurant look. Food: The food was amazing. I highly recommend the *Vegetables Papad Ki Seekh Gongura Chutney kebab. I loved how they wrapped the papad around it. This was such a unique and delicious dish. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was also really good and on the spicy side. We got the Lasooni Sabzi Palak and the Rose Petals and Paneer Kofta as our curries. The palak was so flavorful and had the right amount of garlic in it. I liked the addition of corn to it, it was really well together. The kofta dish is on the sweeter side but they did tell us that when we ordered it. The curry base for it was so good and the kofta had a simple taste to it which complemented the flavorful curry well. I also got the Dal Makhani - it was really good and like a Dal makhani should be, simple but flavorful. Service: Everyone was so nice and helpful. They gave us suggestions based on our preferences and checked in on us often to ensure we had a good meal. Water glasses were also filled quickly. Price: Food is fairly reasonable. We got 2 appetizers, 2 curries, 1 dal, 2 breads, and 1 drink and it cost about $100/person. The portions are also quite big so we did have food leftover that we could take home for a second meal.

    Daal?
    Cole D.

This is a more expensive Indian restaurant, but the quality of taste definitely matches the price. We got the famous butter, chicken and a daal dish as well. The famous butter chicken is truly remarkable. It was so tasty. I currently am thinking about it. Four days later. The other dish, the mutton, was tasty as well. Not as good as the butter chicken, but definitely a dish that holds its own. The garlic naan was not that impressive. Really thin and crispy. Service was remarkable. Always filled up our waters. They sat us with no reservation and told us we had an hour. They brought out the food really fast. My friend recommended a type of bread that's very buttery and it looks like the spiral photo I attached. I would really get that. Really fun. I do have a complaint that rice cost seven dollars extra for the side dish. Most Indian restaurants, that's usually a given. Didn't really appreciate that. So a $30 famous butter chicken actually ends up being +7 dollars. A little annoying.

    Prerana D.

probably the most stunning Indian restauraunt I've been to with sm peacock decor. unfortunately, food was such small portions especially appetizers for the price you pay. The drinks too i felt like were too expensive for what it was and left more to be wanted from it. The paneer dori kebab especially would not recommend. I liked the lasooni palak mushroom dish and dal makhani was also good but nothing spectacular. We also told them it was my mom's birthday but they didn't do any birthday thing for her but were doing it for other people there.
