All the food here was great! We were a party of 3 and shared everything family style. We started with the Andhra green chili chicken and baby goat kebab. The chili chicken was delicious, and one of the top dishes of the night for me. It's definitely on the spicier side, but delicious and a very authentic chili chicken flavor. The baby goat kebab was a very soft texture and paired well with the bread and green chutney that came with it. For main entrees we shared the Kerala fish curry and chicken changezi. The Kerala fish curry was amazing, and my favorite dish of the night. It was a great flavor and the fish itself was also cooked so well. The chicken changezi had a nice indo Chinese flair which I loved as well. We added white rice, garlic naan and mirch laccha paratha to pair with the curries. May be my favorite Indian restaurant ever. I'm fortunate to live around the corner because I'm eating here monthly at this point! The ambiance is beautiful. The bar is also gorgeous with comfortable seats that make walking in for a table doable since you usually need to sit at the bar without a reservation. The food is nothing short of extraordinary. I've had a vast amount of dishes from here with my favorites being the goat kebab, the curry fish and the paneer tikka. And don't forget Lachha Paratha as a side!! I would say this is in the top 3 of indian restaurants in NYC that actually taste authentic and very flavorful! We had a reservation and were immediately seated and our server was really fun and helpful the whole time we were there. We started with one paan cocktail and the mango chutney mocktail - both of which were delicious but I would definitely reccommend the paan drink over the others! For food, we got the aslam butter chicken tikka and I need to say "WOW!!" - everything about this dish was delicious & will be getting this dish again when I come back. For the main, we were really looking forward to having the rose petals and paneer kofta which was spoken so highly about but unfortunately was taken off the menu. Instead we got the lasooni palak paneer which was so yummy and the flavors were just right. Additionally, we got the daal which was great, but not at all spicy so I do wish it had a bit more of a "kick" to it but that's my personal preference. My favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. Highly recommend a reservation as it can get busy. Haven't seen roomali roti at any Indian restaurant in a while so I devoured it here. The chicken tikka is a MUST try! It absolutely melts in your mouth. If you order it as an app be sure to save the buttery sauce to dip your naan / roti in. Butter chicken was amazing. We also got the seasonal lassi which was lychee for us. This was insanely good and nothing like I've ever had before. Lastly for dessert, I'm not huge on cardamom so the chai cake was just okay but it's an interesting experience and definitely shareable. The ambiance is great for gatherings and celebrations. A large group of us visited to have a nice Indian meal to honor India's Independence Day last year and return felt honored by the service throughout the night. It's definitely a pricey restaurant where the appetizers are $20 and above. So keep that in mind. I ordered similar things: - Aaloo Tikki Chaat: it's delicious. The order comes with two tikkis, so plenty to share with another person. - Sweet Potato Chaat: this was interesting mix of sweet potato mashed with some sort of veggie kabab. Loved it. - Daal Makhani: this is ok. I'm a big Daal Makhani snob and I've eaten amazing Daals in NYC. This daal is not as delicious as I've eaten at other places. Come here for the kebabs!! I've tried the butter chicken tikka, goat dori kebab, and the malai chaap, and each one delivered. The malai soya chaap stood out with its unique stuffing of onions and chilies - flavorful, a little unexpected, and really well done. The menu has so many intriguing kebab options, I already have a list for next time. I skipped the mains this time around. On a previous visit (a couple of years ago), I found them a bit underwhelming -- the rose paneer kofta was too firm and chewy, and the kheema didn't leave much of an impression. That said, I'm hoping things have improved since then and I'll definitely give the mains another shot in the future. Still, even if you stick solely to the kebabs, it makes for a delicious and satisfying meal. I also got the chai cake dessert which was tasty as well. We had just a great experience here. Food was authentic to classic indian food with elevated seasoning. Ambiance: They've done a great job setting up the restaurant. It's good beautiful but intimate seating with low lights and teal colors. They also have this really nice outdoor/indoor area that's been painted with peacock feathers. I highly recommend the *Vegetables Papad Ki Seekh Gongura Chutney kebab. I loved how they wrapped the papad around it. This was such a unique and delicious dish. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was also really good and on the spicy side. We got the Lasooni Sabzi Palak and the Rose Petals and Paneer Kofta as our curries. The palak was so flavorful and had the right amount of garlic in it. I liked the addition of corn to it, it was really well together. The kofta dish is on the sweeter side but they did tell us that when we ordered it. The curry base for it was so good and the kofta had a simple taste to it which complemented the flavorful curry well. I also got the Dal Makhani - it was really good and like a Dal makhani should be, simple but flavorful. Service: Everyone was so nice and helpful. They gave us suggestions based on our preferences and checked in on us often to ensure we had a good meal. Water glasses were also filled quickly. Price: Food is fairly reasonable. We got 2 appetizers, 2 curries, 1 dal, 2 breads, and 1 drink and it cost about $100/person. The famous butter chicken is truly remarkable. It was so tasty. I currently am thinking about it. Four days later. The other dish, the mutton, was tasty as well. Not as good as the butter chicken, but definitely a dish that holds its own. The garlic naan was not that impressive. Really thin and crispy. Service was remarkable. Always filled up our waters. They sat us with no reservation and told us we had an hour. They brought out the food really fast. My friend recommended a type of bread that's very buttery and it looks like the spiral photo I attached. I would really get that. Really fun. My friend recommended this restaurant to me. Although he said I had to get the Kebabs (ofc), I dined with a relative who tends to eat vegetarian diet. We ordered a lentils dish, eggplant dish, and the fish curry. All of which were AMAZING. WOW. I need to come back. I wouldn't say the staff is very friendly. We came here to get some drinks and found this place quite underwhelming. What really set this place at a zero was that someone spilled water all over the area where we were sitting. Our bags were entirely soaked. What made this worse was that the staff clearly realized water was spilled or leaking, but did not do anything. My friend and I ventured into this establishment to have a memorable meal. We have been on a quest this year to find the best Indian restaurant in town and hands-down I believe this place is my new favorite. To start off the entire vibe is super energetic inside, the bar is absolutely beautiful and the lighting is soft and energetic, great place to hang out if you are waiting for your table, which is what we did. Drink menu is pretty standard with a few interesting twists. I do like the shareable drinks option to really make your outing a party. We started our meal off with the lamb chops that were absolutely off the chains amazing. They were grilled perfectly, the masala and spice was perfection. The chops coming out on a skewer is a fun presentation but I would've liked to see one more piece on there just so that it's easier to share between two people, but I'm not too mad. The Aslam butter chicken was fabulous. The sauce was so delicious and buttery and full of flavor and the chicken was tender and juicy and just grilled perfectly. The pickled onions and green chutney cut right through all of that to deliver a perfect bite each time. Definitely get this if you are visiting here. For mains we ended up getting a rumali roti with the old Delhi korma. The korma had everything going for it, the right spices, the right balance, the tender meat. I just think it needed to spend a lot more time on the stove caramelizing and for the flavors to develop and deepen. This korma should not have been removed from the stove until the oil started to separate (Can you tell I'm a little bit of a korma fanatic?) We expressed this to the chef as well as he came out to greet the floor. The shameful part about this dish is that you could taste a little bit of the gamy flavor of the meat, which is never a good thing when it comes to desi curries. We ended the night with bone marrow pulao and this did not disappoint. I would suggest ordering this with another meat dish because there's not a lot of meat or masala in the rice itself, but it was very fragrant and the fatty bone marrow paired perfectly well with the rice. Overall, this was a super memorable meal. I can't wait to come back here and also try some of their desserts. We had an 8:00 PM reservation, which apparently meant "stand around and reflect on your life choices until 8:20." No table, no updates, no apologies--just vibes. After 20 minutes of waiting while actively starving, we figured we'd at least grab some appetizers at the bar. Rookie mistake. The bar attendant--who gave strong "I'm either the manager or deeply enjoying this power trip" energy--flatly refused to serve us food because we might "crowd the bar" for guests who were already seated. The interaction was needlessly rude, dismissive, and impressively inhospitable for an upscale restaurant that should understand how reservations and hunger work. So we did what any rational person would do: we left. Walked next door to the sushi spot, got seated immediately as walk-ins, and enjoyed 10/10 service and food without being scolded for existing near furniture. If you're looking for fine dining with a side of attitude and zero accountability, this is your place. I've dined at Kebab aur Sharab twice, and I will say the food, although pricey, is fantastic. The first time I came, we made a reservation and were seated in a smaller room in the back that was very romantic. I don't remember exactly what we ordered, but I distinctly remember the bone marrow biriyani being out of this world. So rich and silky with the bone marrow mixed in, with the raita and green sauce (mint?) cutting through the richness. Packed with flavor. I had the chicken biriyani the second time, and it was not as good. A little dry, and somewhat lacking in flavor. Both times, I ordered the rose kofta, which has a tomato cream based sauce similar to butter chicken. It only comes with 4 dumplings, but it's delicious nonetheless and the curry is wonderful over rice or on naan. Also beautiful presentation. The most recent time, we walked in without a reservation but were able to sit at the bar, which had a nice ambiance. We ordered a baby goat skewer, which had great presentation. This dish was interesting.. it had a soft texture that was almost like pate. We spread it on the provided flatbread with green sauce and pickled onions, which made for a unique and delicious bite. Moving onto desserts, we ordered the chai cake on my first visit, which I recall being delicious and moist, like a spiced version of tres leches. Most recently we got the gol chakkar (coconut jaggery pudding). I liked this less than the chai cake, but it was still a nice, modestly sweet end to the meal with unique flavors. My one qualm here is that on my most recent visit, the bartender broke a glass near where we were eating and cleared our dishes due to potential glass shards. He asked if we wanted another dish, which we declined as we were pretty full. He comped our dessert, but I feel like we should've had some portion of our entrees comped as well, considering we hadn't eaten about 50% which we could've taken home for 1-2 more meals. Despite this, I will still be coming back to Kebab aur Sharab because it is truly a standout of Indian dining. Just be careful sitting near the bar! The presentation of the food is lovely, but the food lacks vision. For the pricey menu, the food does not amaze. We had the mushroom galouti, (three pieces of mushroom circular pate whose texture and taste mimics shami kabab) which was over-seasoned with cardamom. Literally all you could taste was pasty cardamom. We also had Daal (which tasted very basic, and didnt come with any rice or naan/roti. We also had a purple sweet potatoes chaat, which was four small aloo tikkis on a bed of chana masala. There was no crispy component to it, which chaats usually have. The garlic naan was good.
