The Cock-A-Doodle Noodle comes with Buffalo butter sauce and was fun, but not as tasty as the meat one. If I worked closer I could see just having a salad lunch now and then. Fresh, filling ingredients and well paired dressing. SOTS is worth a trip for salad alone. Now let's get to the calzones. They have a monthy special, SOTS Creations, and The Fold. The Fold is a Create Your Own Calzone. It comes with two cheeses and you go from there. The sauce is literally ON THE SIDE. This could not be farther from the truth for the calzones at Sauce on the Side. The dough is light, airy, buttery goodness. Their amazing combinations of flavors appeal to every taste. Now if you never tried one, this is a perfectly soft dough that you could eat just by itself ,in my opinion. Since I went with a group of friends, I was able to try a bunch of different types so and there very few that disappointed. All of them were very savory and flavorful in their own unique way. Roasty Toasty - This one was my favorite by far because of the mixture of vegetables and meat (it just felt healthier to me). Cock a Doodle Noodle - Very carb heavy but definitely a unique taste you won't get anywhere else. Plus, it was featured on the Travel Channel so there was no way I was going to leave without trying it! Meat me in St Louie - A little salty because it was so meat heavy (not my cup of tea) yet I found myself finishing it. Very comparable to a meat lover's pizza. TIP: You can ask for multiple sauces as well as switch out the default sauce with another free of charge. I've had good calzones and barely fair calzones. At Sauce on the Side, I had my first-ever great calzone! The place was fairly busy when I got there. It was lunchtime on Monday, so I was worried we'd have trouble getting a table after we ordered at the counter. I just wanted cheese in mine and selected a few different cheeses. As soon as we were finished ordering, a table opened up and I descended upon it. When the food came, we descended upon that. My calzone was delicious. Had I paced myself, it could have made two meals, but I raced myself and ate it all. For dessert, I had a Nutella and banana calzone and my friend ordered a s'more calzone. I only ate a few bites of mine before I was full. We could have split one, but instead we chose to order what we each wanted and take the rest home. If only parking were more convenient. I had to park several blocks away. I guess you can't have everything. But you can eat it. I never knew I could be excited about calzones! Woo! read more

Although we didn't really care for the tangy sauce on the doodle noodle so we didn't use it besides one dip. It was pretty filling so you definitely won't be hungry after. Amazing! First there menu has something for everyone and it was so hard to choose I order 2! They are very well priced too. Good beer selection and nice atmosphere with a few TVs tuned into a Cardinals game. I ordered the "meat me in St. Louis" and the "Poncho Villa" b/c no Texan can pass up chorizo, jalapeños and QUESO! The flavors in Pancho Villa were straight up Tex-Mex worthy and that is hard to admit. The meat me in St. Louis is a perfect, classically flavored calzone. One of my favorite casual restaurants and go to for 'pizza'. It's not really pizza it's a calzone only restaurant but it's so good we don't even order pizza anymore! They have everything from traditional pizza flavors to the Cock a Doodle Noodle with Mac and cheese inside. The portions are huge I always say I'm not going to finish it but it's so good I always do. They don't have many beers on tap but they have an impressive bottled beer selection for any craft beer lover. Always a winner in my book! read more

If you love calzones, then this is the place for you! I had heard about this place from a coworker, so we decided to stop by here on the way to a Cards game one night. I wish we had gone on a normal night as the calzones were so big we couldn't even finish them, and since we were heading to the stadium, we didn't take our leftovers. Next time we will know. I ordered the Meet me in St Louie, and my SO got the Which Came First? All the calzones come with a side of dipping sauce. You can get the recommended sides, which we did, or pick one of your choosing. The Meet me in St Louie is basically a big meat pizza calzone with meat sauce as the dip. Very big, and very cheesy! This is what I imagine as the prototypical calzone. The Which came first had chicken, bacon, jalapenos, egg, and cheese with a salsa verde side. This one was very tasty and a great combination of ingredients, and the salsa verde was a nice touch to go with it. We will be back to try their other calzone concoctions! read more

I have to say 4 stars if I keep going back right? For me this is my "pizza fix" at lunch as they make a great calzone. The calzones are always toasty hot served to your table right from the ovens. For me its a Meet Me In St. Louis which has the Italian sausage and pepperoni and a diet root beer. The place is busy at lunch but you can always find a seat somewhere. Outside seating is nice if the weather is accommodating. I've had the calzone with pesto too, and it was good if you are a pesto fan.
