Just a few days prior to my driving out of state, my car abruptly started having issues starting. The dealer wasn't able to squeeze me in, so I reached out to Sauls here on Yelp and they were able to see my car on a pretty short timeline. After explaining the issue, figuring it may be something relating to the battery as it had been upwards of 4 years since that was last replaced - they did an inspection of the vehicle and, a few hours later, called with an explanation that new spark plugs were needed. Now being at a point where I was having to make the drive that afternoon, and not wanting to risk running into issues with starting the car, I green-lit the repair under the impression this would address the issue. Sadly, this was NOT the cause of the issue. As the issues starting the vehicle continued, I had the vehicle in at a different shop where they tested the battery (which it failed) and then replaced it. 15 minutes and a quick battery swap later, the car fired up without issue and it's been smooth driving ever since. Saul was very pleasant to deal with; however, the difference in a $500+ repair that didn't address the issue vs. a $70 replacement battery has left me with a less than stellar impression. read more

I responded, "so what I hear you saying is you don't have time for new customers and you don't take walk-ins". He explained they're very busy and that the only other repair shop open on Sundays is going to be too busy as well. I took my car elsewhere and when I told my regular mechanic who I usually visit what I was told on the phone by their competitor- Saul, they were surprised and confused because they got me in the following day with no issue. My wife and I took our car (2014 Subaru Crosstrek) into Autotek in August for disk brake rotor replacement and for control arm repair. Autotek additionally diagnosed a leaking head gasket (that I'm not entirely sure existed). Autotek removed the engine to repair it twice over two weeks. After the first attempted repair, the new head gaskets started leaking during the final QC, so Autotek had to repair it again. While Autotek was checking out the new leak, the timing cover was damaged, and it had to replace it as well. After getting our car back from Autotek, we took the car to Heuberger Subaru in Colorado Springs to examine the work done by Autotek because we had lost faith in Autotek over the two weeks they had been working on our car. Heuberger Subaru found there was still an oil leak from the engine, as well as issues with a lot of other parts that Autotek had installed during the "repairs," including incorrect engine oil, damaged cam sprocket, leak on CV boot, and improperly clocked control arm brushings. Autotek refunded us for the work done on the control arm and head gasket repairs after we sent Autotek documentation from Heuberger Subaru of the damages. We would not go back to Autotek for any additional work. In addition to delays and repeat repairs, I felt Autotek also behaved unprofessionally during the repair process (and potentially deceitfully) by trying to pin blame for a damaged part on a prior mechanic we had gone to recently and pointing to Subaru warranty/recall bulletins that were not actually related to our car model. It's also worth noting that we went to Autotek because my brother had recently had a serpentine belt replaced by them and he originally recommended the shop. However, while my car was being worked on, the new serpentine belt in my brother's car snapped while he was driving not two weeks after replacement, likely because it had been installed improperly by Autotek. read more

I would not recommend them at all!! My truck would not start a couple of weeks ago and had to get a jump from a neighbor. The check engine light came on and was running a little rough. I call my regular mechanic and was not able to get it in for a week. I call Saul's and they were able to get me in the next morning. They said they ran a diagnostic test and I need a new alternator and belts and a balance thing for it. It was going to cost over $2,000. I thought about it for a little and something told me I was about to be ripped off. I called and told them I wanted a second opinion and want to get my truck! I waited to get my truck into my regular mechanic. I'm so happy I waited, because all I needed was a Canister vent valve and only cost $352. My alternator was fine and my belts were fine. I had to pay Sauls $163 for the diagnostic test and a gas cap that I probably didn't need! I shouldn't have had to pay anything because they didn't even test the alternator to make sure it was that. I was driving across country a few months ago and my brakes had started squeaking a lot. It was a Sunday and I was hoping to leave town the following day, so I left Saul a message. He called me early Monday morning and squeezed me into his busy schedule and did a full inspection of my brakes, assuring me that they had been installed correctly and that I was safe to travel onward. His staff was thorough and since they didn't need to repair anything, there was no charge. Although they didn't technically repair anything, they took the rear braking system apart to inspect it and after they put it back together again, it barely squeaked at all. Had my timing chain replaced in January 2018 on my 2003 Honda Accord. Autotek gives warranties for 36 months. Just discovered the seals are leaking & Saul the new owner won't take responsibilty for it. Wants to charge me to fix it. I already paid $1100 to get it fixed the first time. Called & left several messages for Saul with no return call back. I would not trust them. They also messed this car up a few months ago. Took it in to find an oil leak. They were only suppose to check it out. We picked it up & as we drove down Arapahoe smoke started pouring out of the hood. Quickly pulled over to discover oil all over the engine. As someone who's never taken her car anywhere but the dealership even for oil changes, I was between a rock and a hard place when my brakes decided to give out on a Saturday night. This is literally the only certified mechanic open in Denver on a Sunday (Saul told me the next closest shops were in Salt Lake City, Dallas or Kansas City...seriously) and I didn't want to have to wait until Monday to get it fixed. I was super hesitant about trusting a random mechanic, but the positive yelp reviews and Saul's charismatic and crazy knowledgeable phone voice won me over (he could literally give you the history of every auto maker in existence). Saul was super welcoming and not only offered me a complimentary ride home, but he purchased breakfast burritos for everyone in the shop and offered one to me. My Envoy was in serious need of repair with the stepper motors. Took it apart and found out the circuit board was fried. Saul worked out a more than fair price and had the vehicle ready before the promised time and date. Saul keeps you in the loop. If there's an evolving issue he will let you know asap. Saul is great, he was very nice when telling my husband and I that our rear callipers had both exploded, our front breaks had worn down to the rotors and that it would be a little over a grand to fix it. They got the work done in less than 4 hours and didn't even have to discuss the possibility of keeping our vehicle overnight. Thanks to Saul and his crew of mechanics, our van is finally riding smoothly again. We are from Michigan, making us total tourists here in Denver. Sauls the man! Took my car in because it was stalling on the highway. This was on a Saturday. I thought I was screwed and would have to wait until Monday to have the car even looked at. I did however witness a very high pitched customer (unfortunately a female making me embarrassed for her and my sex!), who certainly needed to not only learn how to speak to people - but equally learn to manage her anger. Everyone listened to her wows. They all managed her very professionally - while taking care of other customers. Honestly if I could fix my own car i would, however I trust them. At the end of the day, as consumers if we want to keep our unique cars (AKA old), we need honest mechanics. Let's make this short and sweet. Saul was a very nice guy who helped to explain the issues with the car in terms we could understand. He gave us a quote that was around what we paid (only difference being he also changed out tubing that made the heater able to work again since the old tubing was melted.) Obviously no one likes spending lots of money on car repairs, but he makes sure everything he does is certified and warrantied so as to protect you and the vehicle. It's nice to know if the same issue arises again, it will be taken care of. He was not pushy but did add some recommendations (we are buying a house so cash was too tight to consider anything other than making sure that pesky check engine light went away.) Drove into Denver from Chicago for a wedding. My brakes started squealing the moment I hit the city limits. Went to Goodyear for an estimate - $399.95 to replace front brake pads/two rotors AND they needed to keep my car overnight. Goodyear's estimate seemed way off and quick internet search led me to Saul, who immediately confirmed my suspicions by laughing at Goodyear's quote. We made an appointment for the next morning (his technician even opened up shop early for me!) 45 minutes later - all 4 brake pads/1 rotor were changed. Total price? $175. I even got to see exactly what was switched out, so there was no mystery about what I was paying for. My Honda made the 1100 mile trek home, brakes as smooth as butter. I give them 2 stars for being very friendly and getting me in for a pre-purchase inspection over the weekend. I wanted to make sure that the hybrid battery was ok, and that it didn't have rust forming since it was older and I planned on keeping it for a long time and that everything else was good. I was told yes they could do all that. They were very nice and got an Uber for my dtr and I to go to the mall while we waited and had even offered to take us home but I needed to get the vehicle back to the dealer after the check up. When we were done they picked us up and I was in a hurry to get back to the dealer since we were only supposed to have it gone for 2 hours and I asked if the battery was ok and they said yup everything is good except two things mainly. I didn't look over everything as the paper was hard to read because of their printer not printing well but when I got back to the dealer and was looking over my online version I saw that there was nothing noted about the hybrid battery, and the windshield THAT WAS BROKEN allllll the way across wasnt even listed but was marked as GREEN (meaning there was no problem) on the list of things checked out. Also the rear wiper didn't work to clean the window as it was falling apart and that wasn't listed anywhere either. But marked as "ok" green under wiper blades. Also it did list work that needed done and a pic but didn't list whether it was driver or passenger side. I'm a single mom of a sick kid and spending $200 dollars for an inspection that I really needed and I could see hadn't even been done all the way concerned me to think what else had been marked off without actually being checked? And if they were not able to check the hybrid tell me upfront? I wanted to know because vehicles are so expensive now and I needed to plan for any other expenses and also need something reliable because we have lots of Drs Appts and go to the hospital. Negative stars if I could! Had a cylinder head replaced and transmission rebuilt on an old Alfa. They totally messed up the timing, which is easy to see because of the obvious timing marks, lost a needed cam shaft washer, and bent at least one valve so the compression is super low! They said they were going to replace all the old hoses as well, they did NOT. Gaskets and boots were ripped and not put back properly, several interior parts were disassembled and not put back together. They took very little care when reinstalling the transmission as they totally messed up the rear end seal (which leaks now). NO seat protectors were used so the leather seats are now covered in grease and grime, and someone left all their lunch trash inside the car. LOADS of promises NOT delivered. After spending almost $8k, I called them on each item I found that they totally messed up... they won't call me back. if you care about your car and money, DO NOT go here. Saul and Saul's Automotive are awesome. He was communicative, accurate, and passionate about doing the right thing for the client. I was driving from Phoenix to Denver, and crossing Raton pass the front right roller bearing of my 2009 Tahoe 4x4 failed. I got down to Trinidad before the whole thing failed. I yelped for an automotive mechanic, wasn't much in Trinidad, or Walsenburg, and everyone was closed Saturday at 5pm. Colorado AAA was super helpful, especially Jody and Mia; it really looked like my best bet was to get to Denver. Saul's had many 5 star recommendations, and they seemed to be from real people, or were at least reasonable. I "just called Saul", and was instantly impressed. Saul's is open 8-6, 7 days a week, and he personally answered the phone. Smart, helpful, kind. While I'm sure I could get someone to do the repair down state, I had meetings over the entire week starting Monday am, and didn't want to have to commute back to check on the truck. CoAAA helped me get the vehicle towed to Saul's shop, it took about 2-1/2 days, but it ended up costing about $100 for the 200 mile tow. The best tow truck deal I could find was a colleague of Saul's named Ebony, and he was willing to do the whole trip for $500, which was an awesome deal in itself. Everyone else had asked for $700-$900 for the 200 miles. Sunday, I took the Greyhound to Denver from Trinidad. That's another story all in itself. Almost all bad. Never ride (or at least attempt to count on) The Dog. I kept Saul updated on where and when the truck might arrive, leaving him VM or text, and he'd respond every time. Tuesday the truck arrived at his shop and I awaited the verdict. 30 min after it arrived, had a solid diagnosis and a firm price. The price was in the range I'd figured. He promised it repaired and ready to go no later than Th PM. Five hours later he lets me know that they tag-teamed it and got it all back together again. The hub, U-joint, and many bolts had broken or bent, the disc was scored and warped, the caliper and pads were shot, and the steel had turned purple from the heat. Baked bearing grease everywhere, ABS wiring melted, it was a mess. One of the techs was going to make something out of one of the broken parts and they'd hung a picture of the warped disc/hub on the wall. Anyway, they had the whole thing completely rebuilt, all new parts, aligned, computer reset, and ready to go 28 hours after it had arrived. Price was reasonable, service incredibly good, and I wish I lived in Denver now that I know someone of Saul's caliber is around. There were other older, non-safety issues with the truck, but at no point did Saul or his team try to up sell me on any of them. They were as straight-arrow as can be. He explained everything thoroughly over the phone before he started to make sure he understands exactly what part/work we'd like to have done. It did take longer than expected since they were back up but I got my car back at the end of the day! My fiancé previously took his Ford truck here for repair and was extremely happy with them. Car broke down on Friday 8/28 had my car towed to Mountain States Toyota since the battery light had been on for 2 days and my battery under their warranty. (3 months old). On Sat 8/29 dealership tells me that my alternator needs to be replaced, a fuse needs to be replaced and my battery needs to be replaced. said my battery may not be covered by warranty .. lol. (of course) their total cost was close to $1200. Exact breakdown were alternator -$555.67 refurb alternator -$397.99 120 ampt alternator fuse -22 battery- 116.67 Labor close to 500.00 warranty for 1 yrs only. Being new to Denver I was stressed and worried that I would be taken advantage of, I got on computer and started searching. I found Saul's Automotive called and he immediately gave me and estimate. He was willing to take me same day (saturday or even Sunday). I decided to get my car towed from Toyota dealer to Saul's Automotive he had my car done in less than 3 hrs. My total 472.00 for alternator and labor. didn't have to change battery since I had to go thru an ordeal to get the dealership to honor their warranty. The fuse that the dealership wanted to charge at 22.00 plus labor . Saul got it for 3.00 and didn't even charged me for it. Icing on the cake was the alternator has a life warranty .. Saul's service was fast, efficient and most importantly he was 100% honest with me. Saul's got a new customer in me. super happy ! read more

My car sprung a leak of mysterious fluid before the start of the weekend and the soonest I was able to bring it in to a shop was a Sunday. I Yelped around to find a place that would be open and not too far from where I needed to be that day and found Saul's Automotive. Even messaging through the Yelp app, Saul was incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating. I wasn't ever in an appropriate setting to take a phone call whether I was at a meal or at work so it was especially nice to be able to communicate via the Yelp messenger. I also asked about my squeaky brakes and Saul asked a question that NO ONE ever asked me to help diagnose my problem. I've taken my car to at least three different shops and no one asked what appears to be a vital diagnostic question. During the day, I got a call from Saul to update me about my car. He could have easily upsold me on brakes but did not and explained what was causing my leak issue and what his suggestion was. After authorizing, I picked up my car later and went about my business. The next day I thought I still determined a leak from my car so I contacted Saul. Again, Saul was very accommodating and wanted to make sure the problem was fixed and was even able to organize transporting me to work after dropping off my car. They took the time to look over my car once more and found nothing was wrong and I don't notice any leaks anymore. Overall, I highly recommend this shop if you want someone that will take the time to really go over your car and you can't beat their store hours and weekend availability. read more

I'm a repeat Customer from a few years ago before Saul moved to its new location. Ordered an oil change and wanted to know why my engine was running rough. Diagnostic will cost me $$$ per hour. Hours later, had to call to see about the progress. I was told that my timing belt is bad and needs replacement. Picked up my vehicle and paid for the diagnostic. No oil change because it wouldn't be worth it. A Friend came over a week later, a true mechanic, and was nice enough to check out the engine. Timing chain did not need replacement. From the tune up done with Saul last year, the spark plugs were screwed-in by hand, but never wrenched down and the plugs themselves were mis-matched. A lot of little things that should have been noticed in place of an expensive repair. It didn't take much for my friend to get my vehicle to purr like a kitten. One thing for sure, the work done on my vehicle before the move was half-ass and I'm lucky I was able to drive it to the new shop. Workmanship and true diagnostic has gone down the toilet. I was very disappointed, called for an estimate, they do not give estimates over the phone, you must bring your car in. The only Auto shop I know of that will not give you an estimate over the phone. I went down to see Saul with bent wheel rim after running over a median. Saul looked at the wheel and checked for suspension and other damage, to make sure I had a full diagnosis. After telling me I'd need a new wheel, he took me into the shop and gave me the info I needed to pick one up at a parts yard, logging onto the site, finding my wheel, writing down the part ID, etc. No charge for his time. I found Saul very honest and easy to talk to. I will definitely take my car, and my daughter's car, back for future repairs. read more
