I got ripped off hard. This last summer I was on a honeymoon with my wife in Colorado. I was borrowing my dad's car. There was a problem with my car, so I took it in. He told me I needed new bearings, and breaks. Almost all of the money was towards the bearings ($1300). My dad told me later double charged me for all parts. My dad took the car into a shop when we got back to WI. It turns out he put Buick bearings on my Chevy Impala. Saul told me the bearings were brand new. My dad told me to take pictures of everything, and Saul wouldn't show me the boxes for me because he said he needed it for warranty purposes. He had my wife and I fooled. He puts on a great face. CAUTION! Took my car in for an alignment at 8:30am. Was told it would take a couple of hours, so I decided to wait at the shop. At noon I was told it would take longer than expected and the service manager arranged for a driver to take me home. Called at 5pm and was told it would be done the next day. Called the next day and was told it was on the rack and should be done in 3 hours. Called again at 3pm and es told it wasn't finished. I needed my car for work and told them I would come in at 5, if the car wasn't done to have it ready and I would take it somewhere else. Went to the shop at 5 and my car wasn't there. They said it was being done at a different building. I ask where do I could pick it up and leave. The shop manager would not tell me where my car was. I insisted that I needed my car now, it was my only transportation to work. The shop manager called Saul and after a brief conversation the manager told me I COULD PICK UP MY CAR AT THE BRAKES PLUS ON COLORADO BLVD. THEY ACTUALLY TOOK MY CAT TO A BRAKES PLUS TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT DONE AND IN THE 2 DAYS BREAKS PLUS HADN'T TOUCHED THE CAR. on top of that, Brakes Plus charges $67 for an alignment and Saul's were charging $99. THIS IS A STRONG WARNING! if a company represents they are doing the work but are subletting the work being done, should not the customer be told? read more

Saul's was a great help after I had very sloppy work done by a different company when my car was involved in an accident. Saul recommended that I have my car evaluated by Nylund's Collision Center, which confirmed the shoddy work done by the first company. My first experience with Saul's went somewhat ok. My son took a job in Colorado for the 2014-'15 ski season and drove his Ford truck up there. Along the way it developed a fuel problem. I looked online and saw Saul's was close to where my son was and they had some good reviews and some bad ones. I told him to take it by there to see if they could fix the problem. After speaking with Saul a couple of times that day he made me believe he knew what he was talking about so I agreed to the repair. They took their time getting the parts needed but finally after two days got him on the road. The second, third and fourth times was not so good. My son taking a new job was on his way back home and had more trouble. Back to Saul's for diagnosis. It was determined the truck needed a new transmission. The next day I was told it was ordered and would take a few days to install it. I agreed. After a week goes by I call and was given excuse after excuse why it wasn't ready. Finally after waiting a WHOLE MONTH I flew up to Denver to pick it up after being told it was ready. I went to the shop to pick it up and found out the transmission wasn't even in the shop. More excuses. Wanting to watch what was going on I had rented a hotel room for 4 days waiting. They didn't get the transmission in the shop for 3 days and another day to install it. After it was installed and I was ready to drive back to Texas they told me my engine needed to be rebuilt. Foolishly I agreed, rented a car and drove back to Texas with the hope of an honest job done right. TWO MONTHS LATER I get a call and was told it was ready. I flew my son up to pick it up and guess what? No surprise, not rebuilt correctly and would have to send it back to the rebuilder to do it all over again. Furious now they did (thanks) fly my son back home. I was told that the engine was not rebuilt correctly (by a mechanic in Saul's shop) and they had to send it back to the engine rebuilder to do it all over again. Back into the shop for another 2 MONTHS waiting! During this time they would never answer the phone to talk to me. Finally after waiting 2 MONTHS!! I was told that "as a service to me" they would "deliver" it to me (800 miles away). After detailed information was exchanged and I paid them (first quoted $2500 which turned into $3800! settling on $3k I paid them). I waited up very late into the night they told me they would be here to greet them when they came to my house to deliver it. I waited but I never got a call to let me know they were here. I kept calling and waiting on them for 3 days to find out what happened to my truck but never got a call. So what did they do? They just left the truck on the side of the road with the keys in the gas cap and left. I never got a call to let me know they had dumped it off. After 3 days Saul finally answered his personal phone number and told me it was down the street (when I finally asked Saul about it he said he didn't have the right address??? Yeah, right! He had had my address for 4 months prior!! in his office). At this point I was so furious and disappointed I just wanted my truck back. I went to pick it up 4 blocks down the street to drive it back home and it was running so bad it wouldn't make it down the road to my house. I took it in the next day to a respected mechanic here (BTW it's still there) and they had to tear down the engine to find out what was wrong. After it was torn down it was determined that the truck had sat outside (leaves inside the manifold!) and was never rebuilt at all. The same problem I was told of 2 months earlier was still happening. No work had been done. That was in May of 2015 it is now August and I have tried for 3 months to contact Saul to warranty the engine work and he continues to purposefully ignore my calls or messages. Giving them one last chance to make things right I called today on a different number and he picked up. When he answered I told him who I was, he at once asked to put me on hold and I waited 10 minutes on hold until he finally hung on me. When I called right back he knew my number now and wouldn't answer my call. So this is really who they are. They lied to me, defrauded me out of my money and have put me through so much duress and anxiety for over 6 months for such simple repairs that I would never ever recommend this place to anyone for any automotive concerns. They lied to me. They are not affiliated with any governing agency. They are not members of BBB. Another tactic they use is to respond in some of their reviewers comments around the web is this: "We don't have any record of you ever being in our shop". Total bunk. I can only think that if they treated me like that they have no problem treating anyone else the same. This place is a sham and has no place telling the public they do good work. They do not. I hate being forced to do this, but this time, it just went a tad bit too far. Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you. In my previous review, I had mentioned that Saul was able to deal with my family. When I mention this, I had an issue with a check engine light that wouldn't go off, even after allowing him to fix my car with a new intake manifold. This happened three times; after the third time of my check engine light going on a day after him working on it (and every time his staff would hook it up to a diagnosing machine, it said it was an O2 sensor originally done by him), I was informed we would get to the root of the problem, but he didn't want to just replace the oxygen sensor- it was something else. I asked him to three way call my cousin (who's a mechanic in AZ) to talk to him, which he did, to explain to him what was going on. Turns out it was a three prong universal oxygen sensor placed (three visits ago!) by him when my car just needed a four prong oxygen sensor. He agreed to replace this when my cousin asked him to do so, and tada! The light has yet to return! Fast forward to a new issue- my car started rocking. Now that my trust had been altered, I went back to Saul to have him look. I had him quote the new work twice, and here's where he upset me the last time- the second quote was over $3000. I had a brake fluid light coming on as well when I turned corners, and he stated it was my wheel bearings (when there was absolutely NO growling from the car, the actual noise it'll make with bad bearings). I also needed a new rack and pinion, struts (making a quote on quote "soft and squishy sound") and a lower control arm (which I knew from previous conversations). I told him to hold off. I got a secret second quote from another recommended mechanic from an acquaintance who knows cars much better than me. I didn't tell them what I was quoted- I just had them fix the control arm. Weird, they never mentioned the rack and pinion. Struts are maintenance, do those in the future. You just NEEDED BRAKE FLUID!!!! You were either trying to scare me away with a large quote or you are way overboard and diagnosing inappropriately. Either way, I hope you're happy, I will not be returning at any cost. Very, very disappointed. I give three stars because he is a smart guy, and customer service is great, but that's all that remains. Sorry Saul! read more

Saul is the only person in the Denver area that I trust with my car. When I moved out here three years ago, he was the first person that was recommended to me by a close friend. Since I trust her and needed services badly, I went there on a whim. Three years later, I haven't went anywhere else in Denver for my oil changes, brake repair, or anything else I've had done (that wasn't related to the car's exterior). I only wish he did exterior work as well! He explained to me that that requires a separate license. He is very straightforward and honest with his clients. I would be very cautious about what Saul says. He talks very fast so you don't have time to think. He breaks all the prices down and gives lots of information so it sounds like he knows what he is doing but think and ask lots of questions before you follow his recommendations. On Wednesday February 4 my breaks went out in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee so I took my vehicle over to Saul's automotive. He looked at my vehicle and gave me a call a couple hours later saying I had a master cylinder problem, both the front calibers were broken and needed to be replaced. He went into to detail about how they got broken and he said he knows a lot about Jeeps because both him and his wife have owned them for years. He starts to break down the prices of the things I need to "fix" on my vehicle. Apparently I need new rotors and pads and both front calibers as well as the master cylinder. He quotes prices for how much each part is and tells me his hourly fee is $89.00 The rough estimate he gives me is $1,000.00 Little does he know I had my breaks done less than 6 months ago so I call another mechanic for a second opinion. This mechanic comes over and looks at my vehicle and fixes it for $100.00 and this fee includes the tow from the other mechanic's shop to his. The other mechanic, the one I got a second opinion from said all I needed was to fix a leak in the break fluid line and that nothing Saul said was broken was. My recommendation is to take your vehicle somewhere else and be very careful about Saul's automotive. I am a female who doesn't know about cars and could have easily fallen into the trap and spent 1,000.00 on a $50.00 Job. read more

I just visited Saul's for the first time and am in love with the shop and ownership. Saul offers a genuineness and honesty unparalleled in my experience with mechanics. I drive a VW Beetle so I've come to expect pricier repairs. After getting completely ripped off for a new battery at a different shop, I decided to try Saul's to see about fixing my car window. Saul, the owner, immediately sat in the drivers seat and got the window up by just tapping around the switch. He wasn't at all condescending about the easy fix and didn't even charge for looking at it. He went on to give me plenty of easy tips for getting a new window switch and how I could even replace it at home to save money if I was so inclined (I'm not). I was so pleased on the way home that I made a mental list of every obscure thing that might need tinkering on my car just to give this great place more of my business. And even signed up for Yelp! Saul is easy to work with. Brought my 2003 Ford Taurus in to be looked at because of a stalling problem. The problem turned out to be a mass air flow sensor. Saul and his team were able to replace it within a few hours and get me back on the road again. Took my car to Saul's to repair steering fluid leak, headlight, signal lights and side marker light. I was very impressed from the start. Saul didn't charge for the diagnosis and it took him only few seconds to identify the problem, which was the steering pump. He quoted me $250 for steering pump repair and $200 for light bulbs. The mechanics ran into few problems (not their fault) because the steering pumps, which were supplied by the vendors, were defective. The shop closes at 6pm but the mechanics stayed after-hours to get my car running that very same day. The mechanic was sincere and apologetic for taking a bit longer to fix the car. I do not know a ton about cars so I'm always nervous to go to auto repair shops. Sauls Automotive has been by far the best experience I have had with an auto repair shop!!! My brake lights were not working which I found out on Saturday. I got some misinformation on my brake lights and I needed to get to work on Monday. So on Sunday I started to look for an auto repair shop. However, Pretty much no auto repair shops are open except for Sauls automotive. The guy who helped me was extremely nice and got me in and out really quickly. It turned out it was my brake light bulbs. I will definitely be going back to Sauls for future car repairs!!! read more

Just took my Yukon XL into Saul because it's been having trouble starting. I know nothing about cars so I was nervous about taking it into a shop and getting talked into things I don't need. I didn't feel that way at all. Saul came right out to my car and used a computer to check out the system and talked me through everything he was checking out in terms I could understand. Ya know the show, "Better Call Saul?" I've never seen it, but it's a perfect fit for this so read on! My Love and I were heading down Berthoud Pass about 5:30 on a Sunday night. I had JUST picked up my 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for servicing the day before, because I was heading off on a 1500 mile tour at 7 AM Monday morning. Suddenly while lightly braking, the car shimmied and shook--badly. Obviously in no condition to drive safely over six high mountain passes. And OBVIOUSLY no way to find a solution on a Sunday night with a speedy turnaround... I was stressing. What to do? Rent a car? Borrow my Love's Prius (also in need of servicing and too small for all my gear? (I'm a musician, don't ya know). So I say to my Love, google something. ANYthing! Do SOMETHING! TaDa! On speaker phone, the NICEST voice. "Saul's Automotive. Saul speaking. Oh yeah. Drop your car off at my shop. I get in at 4 AM and can take a look. But It's the rotors. They're warped. What are you driving? I stock those parts so no problem. When do you need the car?" I say to myself, this guy is a scammer! No way! He will or won't fix the car, and will charge out the YAZOO. Still, I really liked the sound of his voice and that he was still working on a Sunday. So... we left the car at his shop at 7:30 PM, along with a note wrapped around the car key in the dropbox, and went out for dinner. The next morning at 6, I loaded up my Love's Prius with all my music gear and drove off to Fort Collins at 7 AM for my first gig, leaving my Love (aka The Saint) to walk to work. Saul better call me, I thought. He did!! My car was ready at 1. So after my gig, I drove like crazy from Fort Collins, picked up The Saint at the 1-25 and 20th exit. He LYFTed there from his office to save me time, (continuing his Sainthood). Off we went to Saul's and my car WAS done. We unloaded the Saint's and re-loaded mine. I paid the bill. Yup. It was at the higher end according to google. But heck. I had my car back and in time to drive to Durango for a gig that night! My car started having trouble driving up through the mountains in a big snow storm and when I got back down, it didn't sound too good. It was a Sunday and while most garages were closed, Saul's was open and ready to take me in as a walk-in. They diagnosed it after only 5 mins of waiting and they were willing and ready to work on it right away. So I brought it back the next day and Saul had a guy take me back to my house and then later pick me up when it was ready. As a 25 year customer of Autotek I was surprised by new ownership, and more surprised that the same oil change that was $40 a few months ago is now $70. Apparently the $5 oil filter is $25 now. I appreciate that they didn't charge me again the following day to fix the oil leak created when replacing the oil plug the first time. I was entertained while waiting twice for my service to be done properly with profanity filled conversations complaining about customers and co workers. My 4Runner needed a bearing and they didn't make me "check" it out and make sure I'm not an idiot. Asked for an estimate and got it very quickly and it was lower than most. I was hesitant but when pulling in and seeing the clean shop and high end vehicles made me feel at ease. I ended up needing an axle shaft as well and they didn't charge for extra labor (it was already taken apart) which also tells me they are legit. TL/DR: Saul's Automotive is a reputable, honest business. & They saved my life. I went in to get an oil change and a diagnostic check on my car. I came to find out there was a lot of very dangerous things wrong with my car that a lot of other automotive care places failed to mention to me. Saul was straight forward and helpful. He didn't charge me for the diagnostic check of the car, the total body check he did on my car, and he printed me off an estimate of what it would be to fix the car up. Of course he did not do any of the repairs without permission. Honestly, I think going to Saul's saved my life (no joke). I have been riding around in a car that is moments from the steering gear rack and pinion and tire barrings (which I had replaced less than a year ago by Colorado Tire and Service (don't go here!) and came to find were installed broken) breaking off my car and potentially causing a serious accident. So, my car is done for, and that is sad. But I am still alive, which is nice Thank you, Saul & company, for all your help and for the honest, no BS way you run your business! Saul is a straight shooter - no chaser kind of guy. He doesn't fluff things - gives you the straight story and also educates you at the same time. Very nice guy. I had to bring my car back for the AC compressor but they fixed it no charge since it was under warranty from their shop. When asked about the alignment on my older vehicle (2000 blue acura 3.5RL), he gave me some advice that saved me 1000+ - pretty sure a dealer wouldn't have done that.
