Despite the conditions, they were positive and efficient; even a stubborn king-sized bed required a master-level disassembly, and they handled it with aplomb. Also, setting up the move was long-time J&D employee Mike, who was completely professional and spot-on with the very reasonable cost estimate, even with the horrible weather. Hats off to these three and J&D (who had ironically moved OUT the previous tenant in our new location) - nothing was a slam dunk about this move, but they certainly made it seem that way.

The second quote was for 12K to move two miles. The first move was from San Francisco to San Rafael. It was about 30 boxes and some very small furniture and clothing. Excect on moving day the guys did not bring wardrobe boxes, so my husband had to bring all of our clothes in the car. No apology, no adjustment to the bill. A few days ago we moved from a small two bedroom condo to a single level home 2 miles away. We asked them to pack and unpack. I was told by Michael that they would pack and unpack for us. We are an older couple, both with injuries and so we were looking forward to the help. We were booked with 7 guys for 71/2 to 81/2 hours over two days. The move started off bad, as we were told they "don't really unpack as they are not organizers." We were confused as we were led to believe they would put some stuff away, which apparently they do to some extent. I asked them to simply label the boxes from where they took them. E.g. "Master bathroom vanity drawer." They did not really label stuff and to be honest, they just threw a lot of stuff in boxes. So when they got to the new place they did not know where to put some of the boxes and it was pretty clear they did not care. By 12:30 on the first day, Ronaldo (lead guy) informs me he can't complete the move that day. I asked why and he said several times, "Are you cool with paying me overtime? If I don't stop now it's time-and a half." At the same time he was also saying he did not want a long day on the second day of the move. So I contacted Michael who said he would talk to Ronaldo. Keep in mind, I'm there alone, while my husband is in the new place. Ronaldo is pissed at this point and tells his team they have to "Move this Sh__ !" I felt really uncomfortable. So they had no problem at all moving everything over to the new place. I think they left around 4:00 after taking a 25 minute break in the morning and at least 45 minutes for lunch, which I supplied and they seemed to feel entitled to. The next day they showed up at 8:15 to unpack. It was a joke. They stained the wall from moving. My husband just had it painted and it not take a picture, so we can't file a claim. He did get them to help put stuff away, but they mostly put stuff where ever they wanted and it was random as they did not label boxes correctly. They were gone bynoon however, so no one had a long day, expect us, as we are still trying to figure out where our stuff is days later.

The first crew, Vladimir and Luis, handled our furniture and boxes efficiently and professionally. They worked quickly and got our entire 2 bed, 2 bath packed up and into self storage in under five hours, which was impressive. The second time, William and Max helped us move to Oakland. They were on time, organized, and clearly experienced. We were out of self storage and in our new home in under four hours. Moving is inherently stressful, but they made the process far smoother than expected. I would absolutely use Kalin & PO again. Highly recommend.

They dealt with some bulky and heavy items down stairs at both houses without complaint or incident. I would definitely call on them again if we have the need. The only reasons for 4 stars rather than 5: minus 1/3 a star for insisting on cash and charging extra for electronic (not debit or credit card, mind you, just Zelle or Venmo). To me, this is an annoying trend in smaller businesses. Minus 1/3 a star for all three movers spending about 40 minutes trying to reassemble a sleeper sofa - that was a lot of cash burned! They had taken it apart much more quickly, and should have kept in mind how it went back together. And minus 1/3 a star for leaving all of the wrap used (which was a lot, but justified, I think, because there was no damage to any of our items) for us to dispose of. They did put it into a couple of big trash bags that we provided, but we still need to get rid of it.

Now while I fully understand that this CAN happen, it SHOULDNT and their lack of accountability and overwhelmingly POOR response to our beloved trailer being stolen from THEIR PROPERTY, is disgusting. TRAILER WAS STOLEN FROM PROPERTY MAY 12, around 8am. ABBA STORAGE DID NOT CALL OR NOTIFY US UNTIL 12pm on may 13, today. The day I'm writing this review. I am just now getting home after an absolutely unacceptable experience with this facility and its employees. My family and I have been renting a space at Abba storage in Concord for approximately eight years we have stored our Coleman travel trailer there for the entirety of this time yesterday morning somebody came in behind another customer with a U-Haul truck and hitched it up to our trailer and stole it in broad daylight, then on top of it, ABBA Storage, did not call and notify us about our trailer being stolen from their property until approximately 12 PM the following day May 13, the employee at the front desk, lied to me and said that she called me and left me a message after going through my phone records At length she never once called me nor did she leave me a message, hence our shock and surprise finding out the day after that our property had been stolen. When we arrived on Abba Storage's property to discuss this with them. They also told us that they have not filed the police report or called the police. They did not notify anybody about what happened or about our trailer being stolen from their property. ******** EDIT the police officer confirmed that when asked WHY they didn't notify us sooner regarding our stolen property they said they were " too busy" .......! Woman at the front desk also said they know and have known that people have been renting storages to steal peoples property! So that was nice to know and find out! Supposedly the manager does hourly checks on the property to ensure that all trailers and property looks like it's undisturbed and nothing looks out of place, clearly they are not doing that because my trailer was taken so boldly , at 8:22 AM. When asked direct questions from the police officers about the maintenance of the facility and their protocol and procedures. Those were pretty much unanswered and a lot of "uhhh" and we "didn't see it!" Those were the responses. They have been absolutely unhelpful. They have been unapologetic. They did not once offer any sort of consolation or apology for what it happened. "24/7 camera monitoring" should provide you little to no comfort here-- Their cameras are antiquated and are somewhat fuzzy and blurry. When we were going through the footage to review what we could find and what we could see on the footage in order to persecute this thief-- we could barely make out anything. The cameras on the facility are not monitoring every single angle that you think that they are and they certainly don't have high quality footage in order to successfully obtain evidence. I'm not even sure there are enough cameras to make sure that they're capturing everything on ABBA's property. The response from ABBA was extremely disappointing. They have been rude dismissive and frankly, they haven't taken any responsibility for this happening at all. Do not store your personal belongings or property here they do not care about their customers or their personal belongings, and that is a fact.. Their gate is open literally all morning we witnessed tens of cars, simply following each other in back to back to back --and while I DO understand that at a storage facility tailgating, and that kind of stuff is of the nature, it is ALSO the responsibility the storage facility to maintain safe environment for their clients and for their clients property!!!!! If you have property stored here I would recommend you relocate it, expeditiously.
