When the washing machine emptied, the water backed up into the shower in the adjacent bathroom. This is a known recurring problem, every six months to two years. I decided to try Savage & Sons to see if they could come up with any new ideas. When the technician arrived he was friendly and listened to my stories about the history of the problem. He snaked the indoor portion of the drain. That made the situation better but not completely fixed. Two days later the situation was just as bad as before. Same technician came back a week after the first visit. He snaked the outdoor portion of the drain. And again, two days later the situation was just as bad as before. No new ideas here. They state upfront that there is no warranty on drain services, but still it hurt to pay full price for the second visit. And a repair that normally lasts six months to a year, it only lasted two days. read more

I had Savage and Son come out about 2 weeks ago for an emergency plumbing issue. Kathleen sent Keith C. out and he took care of our problem for which I wrote a positive review. I called again recently for a couple non-emergency jobs and asked Kathleen if we could have Keith C. again. She set that up and he came to check out a hammering in a tub pipe as well as to install a shower safety bar. Keith did another terrific job for us. He found the problem was in a defective hot water cartridge and changed out that one plus the older cold water one as well. He then installed the safety bar which has been great for the wife. When I called Savage and Son, a lovely woman answered and took time to troubleshoot my problem rather than just setting up an appointment. Amazing service!!!! I live in Vegas, my dad lives in Verdi. He called me and said his kitchen sink was overflowing, he'd tried to fix it, but to no avail. I asked a couple Reno friends snd family who they'd recommend, no one knew of a good plumber so I Yelped, savage and Son had a lot of positive reviews do I called them. Kathleen answered and I explained my 83 year old dad was stressing out about this and if there was anyway they could fit him in that day, I'd really appreciate it. She was so kind and said she understood, and she'd fit him in some way, somehow. At noon they called and said they'd be coming out. The tech cleaned out the clogged drain, put it back together, ordered him a new hose that was leaking for the kitchen faucet, and was in his way, all for $200! They even said they'd call me the next day to settle up the bill, no problem. I was grateful and they were patient, kind and friendly! Would definitely recommend! If I could leave Savage and Son Plumbing a million stars, I would! As Native Renoites (my mother is 96), we have been doing business with them for at least 70 years. Their service and employees are always outstanding in every way possible and always come through promptly and efficiently. They are personable and truly treat you like family. Most recently we had an alarming emergency. We received a yellow notice on our door yesterday from Truckee Meadows Water Authority claiming that our water meter was showing an extremely high water usage (69,000 gallons this past month alone). Bear in mind we have had snow and our yard is covered in it. From the very first point of contact the nice lady who always answers the phone at Savage and Son advised me that it could be a leak in the irrigation system, or it could be something as simple as replacing a part on a "running" toilet. They assured me they would come out the following day. Fast forward to early the next morning and I got a call at 7:45am from "Kathleen" saying their plumbing leak specialist Tom could come out RIGHT NOW. Kathleen was very well versed and explained that if it wasn't a running toilet, it could be a leak in the irrigation system that would require a costly excavation repair. She knew my mother was elderly and wanted me to give her a heads-up, which was very nice. She couldn't have been more courteous. "Tom", the plumbing specialist who is an absolute PEACH (seriously, could he be any nicer?) already had the stats on the house from former service calls, etc., and came over immediately. First, he checked our toilets. The one in the large bathroom next to my mother's bedroom was indeed "running" and he worked on it for a good hour and replaced an important part, then went back to check the meter to see if that stopped the water from jacking up the meter. He did this several times and found that it was indeed the toilet that was causing the problem. I asked him to check the other toilet, too, to see if it was in good working order. He also looked in the crawl space and in the furnace room (the pipes in that room were "sweating" because of all the excessive running water from the faulty toilet part and he had all the stats of former repairs to the house) He said we shouldn't have any more problems and what needed to be fixed was fixed. So, we dodged a very expensive bullet there. If it hadn't been the toilet it could have been a leak in the irrigation system which would have required expensive excavation, and my mother would have had no water for a period of time. I called Truckee Meadows Water Authority and told them we had rectified the problem, and they said that as soon as they see the water usage has gone down starting from today forward and the fact that we made the effort to get it fixed so quickly, they will make an adjustment to the bill. I would like to thank all of the plumbing specialists that have serviced our house over a period of 70 years, both men and women. Savage and Son, you are like GOLD to us. We had extensive problems that required a plumber, excavator, and driveway paver. We called three plumbing contractors, excavators and driveway pavers to get bids, all were licensed and bonded. We visited sites where current work in progress, and all were highly accomplished in their field. Savage and Son Plumbing was a standout in their process and procedure and value in scheduling. Josh, project coordinator, met with each contractor at our home, put a clear schedule together and had a field coordinator who checked in daily on our project to ensure it was moving according to plan. The cost was comparable to the others, the service was excellent, communication was clear, and their billing process allowed us to read and review different options. We selected the option that best served our needs, and work began on our agreed date. From start to finish this huge job, loaded with hard work that required high levels of expertise in each craft exceeded expectation. Frankly I would give it Zero stars if it was an option. I called early March with a large job in remodeling our master bath. I waited over three weeks for an appointment with Josh who came to see the job to estimate. Josh came, on March 23 and saw saw I needed a shower installation, a washer /dryer installation, double vanities sink move , and soaking tub plumbing removed. My master had been totally gutted at the time of the appointment. Josh promised a quick return of estimate, said it would mean three days of actual work and once deposit made, work would be scheduled. May 1, 2022 I have yet to hear a single word! I did not get a phone call, an email, a written estimate, or notification that they do not intend to bid on this project. We had purchased our special toilets from them about $1,800 for two and service installation was good. Guess they do not service unless you buy products?? So are they not plumbers which is what I needed? Cannot, would not ever, suggest you call Savage ! read more
