I passed this place on my way to Kudzu and doubled back to try it out for dinner with my kids on a Saturday around 5pm for an early dinner. Great decision! The place has an easy vibe rocking an 80s arcade meets comic-con with a twist of diner seating. The seating offers nice space to move around between tables. There's some outdoor seating also. They had awesome music playing (at a reasonable volume to allow easy conversation), and the guy behind the counter knew all the lyrics. My son ordered a small pepperoni pizza and my daughter and I shared the bacon, spinach, and tomato (pic included here). Good pizza! Hubby picks up order (after stopping by for coupon) woman is rude and basically threw the pizza at him. To the OWNERS, of you don't like coupon take it OFF your site. Comes home, tells me about her and wait for it- pizza isn't correct, salad looks like it's for a prisoner AND both missing toppings. I call- and get HER. She treats me like an idiot and tells me she checked it. I said well then, you missed it and since she was pissy. I told her what a crap day it was and I wanted it fixed. Fast forward, I show up with of course the demanded pizza box (we can afford to buy a pizza and don't scam ppl to get free stuff) she glares at me and looks inside- for what to be sure we didn't eat it In The time it took to drive back. She then AGAIN- throws the pizza at me. Save Pizza is actually the best spot in the area for a quick, hot meal or just to do takeout. I should be ashamed to admit that my family and I are here as much as we are. First time going here and I will say they are good. Not the best but I will be back. I tried the spinach calzone which is very good. Huge portion and reasonably priced at $8.95.The only thing I would changedis that the veggies inside are cooked down more. Not used to having my onions that crunchy so it could be a preference thing. The location is literally down the street from the Dekalb farmers market. There is limited parking with some street parking. Around 7pm they really start to fill up. Savage Pizza in Avondale is pretty well hidden. They are right behind downtown Avondale as if you're headed towards the Farmers Market. They seem to do pretty well since they've been here a while. Parking is never an issue since they have their own lot. The interior is designed with a super hero theme, with what appears to be decorated with valuable action figurines and posters. They have plenty of comics for kids or adults. It is clean on the inside, and they have some outdoor seating. The pizzas are okay compared to Felinis and Mellow Mushroom that are in a similar area. I really like their eggplant and today I tried the vegetable lasagna. It would have been perfect with just a bit more sauce, but wasnt too crazy about the bread. I tried my son's Turkey sandwich, and that was delicious with toasted bread. I wish they had another side besides getting plain potato chips. Service was great! read more

Pulling up to savage pizza you would never guess it's open unless there are cars in the lot, kinna looks dead from the curb to be honest. The beer glasses are not clean enough, WARNING!! If you don't want to ruin you beer drinking experience don't read on!!! A few months ago a friend sent me an article about dirty beer glasses and how to notice them since then I have not been able to unsee the clear as day sign of a dirty beer glass, which is........ The Moreland location is super convenient when you're down in Little five points, however the service is generally lack luster and less than friendly, also pretty crowded. Savage has two locations that I'm aware of in Atlanta. One in L5P and one here in Decatur. The location has a well designed interior that welcomes large groups. If you're not in a group, it has a bar you can order to go or sit at if you're solot. A lot of places here in Decatur do this and it's great! When I was in, I wanted to get a calzone and they have a large selection of toppings. More than most places. So I opted for the Prosciutto and Feta Cheese with Spinach in my Calzone. Once the calzone was served, it was right out of the oven onto my plate with a side of garlic butter if you ask. The only complaint I had was it could have had more prosciutto inside the calzone, but otherwise, the flavor was there and it was enjoyable. The staff was friendly and inviting, you didn't get a vibe that they wanted to be somewhere else, which seems to be a plague here in Decatur on the Stone Mountain side at most restaurants. In all, I will be back again. I do wish they had a larger assortment coke beverages instead of the standard selection you see from a 6 tap coke machine. read more
