I was thinking about visiting the Bonaventure Cemetery for its history and unique landscape, and when an employee at the Savannah Visitor Center and my tour guide from a candlelit history and ghosts walking tour both called out Dash Tours as the best, then I looked into how to squeeze it in my trip. Tim, the owner, prefers you text him versus call and leave messages, and I can attest that process was efficient and effective! He had an opening on a day that I could make work with my itinerary, so it worked out. He picks up the guests at their hotel or at a mutually agreed upon location that is still convenient. We started with a walking tour of the "old cemetery" and he gave us the history behind some of the notable graves and monuments, as well as the landscape. I purposely did not want to tell about all the pictures as Tim our tour guide is an amazing tour guide and everyone should have the ability to take his tours and enjoy his thought-provoking, in depth and well thought out description of history. We knew from previous friends who visited Savannah that we should visit he bought a Bonaventure cemetery. We did some research online and decided to choose Tim because he was a fourth generation Savannah. Tim picked us up in his van at our hotel. As Tim picked up the other parties he told us about the different history as we were driving through downtown historic Savannah. Upon arriving at Bonaventure cemetery Tim told us how the two would go and how he would drive us around a little bit then we would do a walking tour and then we would conclude with a final drive around the cemetery. The tour was about an hour and a half but total 2 hours with the pickup and drop off at our respective hotels or location that we wanted to be dropped off at. Tim is one of the few tour guides set First of all I was born and raised here and second of all told us the history and not embellishment of things. I would definitely recommend him if you want to see Bonaventure cemetery. read more

He has family buried at the cemetery, reads old newspapers for fun and knows all the stories about Savannah and its history. It truly helps having a guide who was born & raised in Savannah and isn't just reading off of a script. We not only toured the old, more historic part of Bonaventure, but dabbled into some of the new areas. Certainly you can visit the Bonaventure cemetery on your own. During our travels, however, we have always found that a guide adds tremendously to our enjoyment. We took the Bonaventure Dash Tour back in March while we were visiting Savannah for our honeymoon. We had visited Bonaventure on our own the day before, but, didn't really know what to look for or any of the history. This tour was recommended by the staff at the Kehoe House and by several of the other guests we talked to. Tim was amazing. He has very professional and respectful of the burial plots. This tour usually picks you up and transports you to Bonaventure. They don't start in all the same spots as other tours, and because of that, you get right into the juicy and best parts of the cemetery. My girlfriend and I heard about this tour last minute, so when we called day of, Tim was more than happy to include us, despite an already full group. We just met him there, which worked for us since we were staying outside of Savannah anyways. The tour itself was very informative! Tim certainly knew a lot and was great at answering any questions. It was neat to hear the history, note some of the more special graves, and hear about the connections to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. All in all, if you want to check out Bonaventure Cemetery, check Tim out. It's worth it! We wouldn't have had the full impact of Bonaventure without all the information Tim shared. read more

My husband and I loved this tour! Tim is very knowledgeable and a Savannah native who knows how to create a unique tour experience. Everyone provides their hotel addresses and Tim picks up everyone on his coach before going to Bonaventure Cemetery--which is such a nice touch! My mom and I were visiting Savannah on Halloween weekend and decided we might as well check out the cemetery while we were there. We spent the day at Tybee Island and figured we would try and get a tour on our way back. Bonaventure Cemetery was probably my favorite place that we visited in Savannah. We took a tour with Dash Tours. Our guide, Tim Rowell, owns the business and is a one man operation. He was so informative and engaging! In the unlikely event that he does not know the answer to your question, he will find out and follow up. It is obvious that Savannah history, particularly Bonaventure history, is close to his heart. Did I mention that he picks you up pretty much wherever you ask in downtown Savannah and brings you back too? We had beautiful weather and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bonaventure. Aside from being the only tour I found that drives around the historic district picking everyone up from their respective B&Bs and hotels with the Dash tour van (this is important because Bonaventure cemetery is not in walking distance and one would need to take a cab there and back or rent a car), the tour guides ( I had Orlando) are well researched. They cut through the endless folklore for a fact and history based tour. There are no ghost and death themes like with other tours. It was a pleasant walking tour full of relevant information and lesser know facts that one would not get on other tours. Orlando was very careful about respecting the cemetery and ongoing burial services (There were some loud tours). This is the perfect way to see Bonaventure cemetery. read more
