I love this place, they know how to welcome their guest and make them feel special. My husband and I visited on a Sunday night. I had the Burrata appetizer. Loved the cheese and I loved that the tomatoes were served at room temperature not out of the fridge like in most other places. Didn't care for the asparagus and prosciutto though, too much going on on the plate. Serve it with the best tasting cherry tomatoes and the best olive oil money can buy and I am happy as a clam. My husband had Oysters Rockefeller, which were a bit overwhelmed by too much spinach. My 1/2 portion of Fettuccine with clams, shrimp and mushrooms was very tasty and my husbands filet mignon with gorgonzola was excellent, cooked to perfection and not overwhelmed by the gorgonzola. My family lives very close to this place so we frequent it quite often.. the atmosphere is superb, the bar is very nice and always packed, the food is great and consistent...my favorite dish there is the chicken parmigane, they have a great gravy there (yes gravy I'm Italian). I'm not an oyster fan usually but there oyster Rockefeller was awesome! They have nice portions and I love how they give you olives and provolone (unlimited I might add) with the bread. If there was a choice of 4 1/2, I would have chosen that. That said, I had to either round down or up, and I choose up. The service is very polite and professional. The food is almost always excellent. If you like shrimp and you don't mind consuming calories, the Shrimp Savini is amazing. They have wonderful salads, appetizers and pastas. The ambiance is lovely - it's set in what looks like an old house, lending itself to a cozy atmosphere (if you make reservations, request the back room by the fireplace). Very nice Italian. Nice atmosphere, clean and formal but not stuffy. On the expensive side, but neighbors were treating so what do I care. Would still go there because the food and drinks were very good but I would still like to try to get my neighbors to pay again. Had a long island ice tea and a french martini as I sat down...yes not the manliest drinks but so what I like them. Then had something for appetizer but can't remember what it was (maybe drinks kicked in) but I liked it a lot as I remember thinking I would like another of those...or maybe I was thinking about another ice tea. Had the Veal Romano and really enjoyed it once my wife stopped giving me stink eye for ordering veal. Like I killed it myself, please.... Anyway it was awesome. The tenderest (I'm not sure that's a word as it doesn't come up in my SwiftKey keyboard, but you get it) cut of meat I think I've ever had. Everything just was well balanced and cooked perfectly. I'm wanting to go there just for this dish because it was one of the better dishes I've ever had. Then had another long island ice tea. Feeling good... Had some dessert or coffee I think. Then the best part of the night, bill came and I didn't pay. Oh the appetizer was the mozzarella mista.. I'd scroll up and fix my prose but don't feel like it. We have a sort of regular local, casual Friday night dinner that may involve up to four couples. This Friday was just two of the couples and we went a little more upscale than typical--a white table cloth dinner in the bar room at Savini. Though we have been to Savini over the years we hadn't been in a while. First step to dining was to contact Solly to reserve our favorite table in the bar. Step two was to arrive and order a reasonably priced bottle of very drinkable Italian red wine. Then the cubes of Parmesan cheese and olives arrived and during this step we took a deep breath. Three ordered salads, for entrees we ordered pasta bolognese, agnolotti, branzini and the pounded grilled veal topped with salad. Good quality ingredients, pleasant and attentive service, nice table by the fireplace (not on) in the cozy and comfortable bar room. For dessert we shared some biscotti topped with canolli cream and fresh fruit and a cup of espresso. Really enjoyable evening. read more

This would be my second time dining here. The food was very good, I ordered the filet mignon which came out perfect! They put out cheese and olives along with bread to start and good thing I didn't order an appetizer because they were all so tasty! For desert I ordered a cannoli, that was also really good. The staff were all very very nice and attentive. The only two things I didn't like so much was me and my fiancé being seated in a small room surrounded by tables of families and loud children. It was kind of hard to appreciate the moment in that atmosphere and there were other rooms I saw that were quieter and less occupied that would have been perfect. Also not a huge fan of the valet parking, I prefer to park my own car. Overall though, I would highly recommend it to friends and family and will definitely be going back! read more

Lovely Italian restaurant in a spacious and beautifully preserved house on a fairly main road. Elegant decor, warm and inviting staff, great wine list, full bar... The basics are amply covered. Last night was my first time at Savini. I love good Italian food and I was celebrating my 44th birthday so my expectations were pretty high. The service and meal far exceeded my expectations. I don't love seafood but I tried the stuffed avocado and enjoyed the lobster and crab immensely. I ordered the agnolotti with porcini and truffle oil and wasn't disappointed until I tried my friend's veal parmigiana. I was only disappointed we hadn't started the plate-sharing earlier. We enjoyed an exquisite anniversary dinner at Savini this evening. Savini is a beautifully decorated fine dining establishment in a residential neighborhood which to us was reminiscent of a dinner we enjoyed on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. We were greeted warmly by our host who presented us with a personalized anniversary menu as a remembrance of our evening; a lovely surprise. Our server Beatrice was so kind and sweet and attentive to our needs all evening. We shared the warm fig salad special, oysters Rockefeller and clams casino, all beautifully presented and fresh and delicious. For our main courses we had another special pork medallion dish and the grilled scallops which were accompanied by potato and string beans, again all fresh delicious and presented expertly. For dessert we shared tartufo with our coffee. Savini is a very special place, warm and inviting but absolutely fine dining experience. We appreciate the offer of complimentary after dinner drinks and promise to return soon. read more

Wow- what a strange place. A few months ago we ate here with several other couples for the first time and enjoyed it very much. we were excited to bring some other friends there and enjoy the same experience. It couldn't have been more different. The place was packed and so the greeting from the young hostess was rude, clueless and rushed. In fact she walked away while while we were talking to her and never came back. We moved into the bar area which was three deep and took about 10 min to get the bartenders attention. When we were finally seated they squeezed us into a corner table by a window which was freezing- not because of the window, I later found out but the AC vent above us that was blasting frigid air on a 32 degree night. It took four complaints before they addressed this. Food was disappointing- certainly not what we expected from our first visit-- but not bad. Service was rough and rushed while the staff was with us, but the kitchen took over an hour from the time the apps were served to getting the main dishes on the table. All the while the waiter ignored us- no May I bring you some more bread; I'm so sorry explanations. Just ignored. The only time the waiter paid attention to us was when the bill arrived and he rushed back to get payment (at this point the restaurant was winding down). We decided to gently explain our disappointment to the waiter and he was mildly apologetic but not all that interested in our lousy experience. We expected the maître-d/owner/whoever the hell he was walking around the place all night to come over and address our concerns. Or offer us a free dessert. Or any frickin thing resembling giving a damn. Nothing. The waiter came back and seemed agitated that we were complaining. On the way out the door we stopped the owner/whoever to politely explain the whole thing and it was clear he couldn't be bothered. And why should he? His place is packed with regulars who seem thrilled with the place. For our part, we can say with confidence it was the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. Not so much because of the initial problems (the place was very busy) but because of their response to our complaints. Their lack of interest in our experience was like a slap in the face. Time after time this place amazes me . From the ambiance to extravagant dishes. The pasta is out of this world and always comes out steaming hot!(I don't know how they do it) the seafood is amazing and always so fresh, you must try the seafood Genovese ! As far as app's go; I always start with the fresh eggplant rollatini and fried calamari. The olives and provolone cubes are complementary and a great snack while you're enjoying your wine and reading the specials of the day. The specials are always different and usually offer some sort of pasta, fish, meat cut (rack of lamb, prime rib, filet) Some think Savini's is overpriced, but you're paying for much more than food. The atmosphere is warming and homey, employees/service are professional , and Salih makes you feel like family . Took a client here for lunch recently. Savini has a lot going for it. Great location, nestled in a nice residential area in what appears to be an old house that was converted in to a charming restaurant. The décor is traditional and classy and the service was kind, courteous, and prompt. The food, on the other hand, was very underwhelming, almost disappointing. Amongst our table there were 3 dishes ordered. The penne vodka, the sole filet and the chicken marsala. I had the penne vodka and the flavor was pretty darn good. However, the dish was served way too hot. I'm mean this was 3rd degree mouth burn hot. I had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool off before I could eat it. The sole filets were also served piping hot and completely flavorless. Sole itself is pretty bland and relies heavily on preparation and accompanying sauces, seasoning, etc. This sole was a casualty. Finally, the chicken marsala was ordered without mushrooms...and came with mushrooms. The person that ordered it was hungry, so she just picked them off. Annoying, but not enough to send the dish back. The chicken though, was as tough as an old baseball glove. It was almost comical to watch her struggle to cut through it and keep it from shooting off her plate. Needless to say, the dish did not get finished. Most of the people at my table had been to Savini before and raved about how good it was. I certainly didn't see it. The dining room for lunch was nearly empty. Those with me commented on how surprised they were to see it so barren. Perhaps its a sign of a decline in quality. Would I go back? Maaaaaybe. read more

When deciding on a venue to host my daughter's baby shower, she insisted on Savini. She had only eaten there once before (3 years earlier, we held our son's rehearsal dinner there) but she remembered how much she enjoyed it. She came all the way from England for the shower! The baby shower was amazing - all our friends and family had a wonderful time! The food was delicious and the staff was outstanding and attended to every detail. This place is pretty old school. I had the oysters to start, which we very good. My dining partner ordered scallops and I ordered shrimp. They mistakenly brought him shrimp as well. After rectifying that, we ate. The shrimp were very good and the sauce was tasty. However, the sauce was too "heavy" and overpowering. While I love the food and the atmosphere of Savini my experience last night was most revealing. My husband and I both had appetizers and an entrée which were very good. When the bill came we felt something was a little off.When I got home I compared the pricing from their menu online to the actual bill they gave us. They over charged us for both the appetizers and the entrees. Smoked Salmon on the menu $12.50 was charged $13.50, Crab Cocktail menu $15.00 was charged $17.00, Lobster Tails menu $36.00 was charged $38.00, Filet Mignon Barolo menu $36.00 was charged $37.00. Been here a number of times over the years and while it's decent it's not one of my favorites. On my last visit I was terribly disappointed with my entree, a special of pasta and lobster. For some reason it just didn't work. The lobster flavor was missing and the pasta appeared that it wasn't freshly prepared. Everyone else in my party was very happy with their selections so may be my disappointment was just a rare occurrence. Service was good and while the atmosphere is busy it's comfortable. read more
