Unfortunately the refrigerator that we purchased two years ago died. I feel as though a purchase should last long than this. Maybe not. But it was really inconvenient to lose our refrigerator and part of me wishes I had just purchased new instead of used. Even though it was a savings two years ago, it's now a bigger expense because of having to purchase an entirely new refrigerator. I called and they could only offer me their standard repair service. LA has this weird thing about apartments not coming with refrigerators. After researching a few different places near the valley I began my quest to buy a used refrigerator that didn't look or smell terrible and was not infested with cockroaches. Simple, right?.... not so much. After visiting other appliance stores closer to van nuys, I developed this fear of smelling the refrigerators once I opened the door... seriously, it's like nothing I've ever smelt. And in one particular store the guy tried to sell me a fridge that had a cockroach in it with broken shelves. Ummm.... no thanks. Savon was my fourth appliance store since I live in van nuys and was avoiding driving to Burbank. I wish I had went there first. Marsha was knowledgeable, friendly and when it can time to make a decision, she walked away to give me and my boyfriend space to talk about it. I spent $300 including tax and shipping on a fridge that met my requirements and has been working well for almost a month. The delivery guys were super nice (don't forget to tip them!) and it came the morning after I paid for it. The fridge comes with a short warranty, can't remember but I think it was 60 days, but in reading her reviews, it seems as though if something goes wrong with it down the road I will feel comfortable calling Marsha. I highly recommend not wasting your time by visiting other used appliance stores. The maximum you would save is $50, but it's not worth the cockroaches and bad smells. read more

This place is amazing. I went here to look at the vintage stoves and they are for the most part completely out of my price range. I told Marsha I'd been shopping on craigslist as well. Rather than tell me its a bad idea or try to sell me on just buying from Savon; She took me around to all the stoves and showed me what to look for in a good vintage stove. She let me email her photos of stoves I'd found on the internet and answered all my questions. Marsha and her crew are amazing. When I buy a stove and need to get it cleaned or repaired these are the folks I'm going to call. I bought a used refrigerator from Savon back in 2004, and that refrigerator FINALLY died in 2014! My hubby and I were moving out of that apartment at the time, and the one we subsequently moved into already had a refrigerator, so we had no need to purchase a new one. However, we moved again this past March and did need to puchase anoher refrigerator. So my hubby and I headed again to Savon Appliance. and purchased another used refrigerator. Delivery and set up was a piece of cake. Unfortunately two months later the fridge died (last Sunday night). Before it died, it kept buzzing every five minutes. My hubby called Marsha the following morning, and she could not get anyone out to service our fridge, because her repair guys are off on Mondays. So she sent her brother to come by and fix our fridge (he used to own Savon Appliances along with Marsha, but is now retired.) He replaced the relay switch and we were back up and running! Then a week later, our fridge made the familiar buzzing sound, so I called Marsha again and told her the fridge just made the buzzing sound. She said based on that and the date we purchased the refrigerator, this told her the compressor is going bad. Since we were still under warranty (90 days from purchase date) she said we can come back and pick out another refrigerator or have the compressor replaced. In the meantime, she gave good info on how to save our food should the fridge go out, We chose to replace the refrigerator, so we went in earlier today and picked one out and will have it delivered his week. out another refrigerator. The customer service you will receive from Marsha is top notch! She is one heck of a nice lady who really knows her appliances! And the used refrigerators ready for sale are cleaned out, so you will not encounter any bad smells when you open them up to inspect them (I visited a used appliance store in Los Feliz a few months ago to pre-price used refrigerators, and the refrigerators for sale weren't even cleaned out, so they were still dirty with food stains on the inside and stunk when you opened the doors. Gross.) Marsha went above and beyond for my hubby and me in both instances, which we appreciately greatly. I wholeheartedly recomment Savon to anyone looking for used appliances, and should the need arise for me to purchase another used refrigerator, I will only go to Savon. read more

I've bought here several times, and had good experiences until I called today and the guy who picked up the phone was a total ass to me. I had them come out a month ago to repair a machines I purchased from them some time ago. After the repair man told me the machines was not repairable, I tried to pay him. He didn't except, he said "just come in and buy another one from us, if you do that you don't have to pay for the repair". Song went down there and bought another machine. They send me a bill in the mail anyway, some call to explain. The man in the other line is scolding me, telling me I was supposed to pay for the repair and then have it taken off the price of the machine. How is it my fault that your employees don't know your policies? I won't be going back again after being spoken to in that way. read more

The absolute go to place for O'keefe and Merrit. I am obsessed with vintage kitchens and feel so lucky to have found people who are even more obsessed. When I moved into my new kitchen I considered a briefly ordering a new Viking but thank heavens I was looking through Craig's list and found a gorgeous double oven stove for only $2,500.00. I had a friend who said that was way over priced but the oven was gorgeous. I took a picture of the oven to Sav-on and the owner took one look and said that is a 1954 the first year with glass in the front. Glass was a huge deal because only the really wealthy people could afford the glass. She said she could sell that stove for $5,000 all day long and asked where I found it. I wasn't telling. I zoomed over and completed the purchase in cash. We took the stove to Sav-On to clean and replace the missing built in salt and pepper shakers. 5 stars for outstanding customer service. I needed a 20" gas range, and Marsha kept one for me when it came in, as these are hard to come by. I also have a vintage stove, and the service technicians are polite, knowledgeable, and prompt (yay, Jerry!). I agree with the adage "they don't build them like they used to". But you can't expect to buy a used appliance and have it last forever, either, so I disagree with the negative review. I needed to repair a fridge door for work as soon as possible. Unfortunately the extended warranty on the fridge had expired so at first I tried setting up a service call with the approved vendor (Active Appliances) on the Whirlpool website - big mistake!!! They charged us $64 just to come and take a look at it and invoiced us the next week in the amount of $850 to fix a minor door problem. The fridge itself only cost us $400!!! I was hopeless until I called Savon Appliances and spoke with Marsha. At first I called to see if we could sell her the fridge, thinking all hope of getting it fixed was lost. I told her what happened with Active Appliances and she immediately warned me about all these appliance repair companies that make money off just service calls, overcharging their customers for labor and parts on their invoices. I showed her some pictures and she said she could probably have one of her guys fix it for under $200. I was still hesitant about having her send someone over because they also charge a $40 service call, but she really reassured me that Luis (repairman) was excellent at his job and was almost positive he could find a solution for us. Well Luis just came and left and he fixed our fridge door for only $150! The fridge door opens the other way now, but who cares? I just saved the company hundreds of dollars and our food won't spoil anymore. Awesome! I'm so impressed with how honest Marsha was from the beginning and how willing she was to help us in any way she could. What's even more amazing is that our office location was really out of the way from Burbank and she STILL accommodated us. I know who I'm going to call if I need any personal appliance services in the future for sure! read more

Thank you, Savon !! I called in and spoke with Debbie about having a repairman come out to look at a vintage Wedgewood stove that I rescued from a junk man's truck. The stove lit up, but the oven would not light. She gave me instructions over the phone on how to set the knobs and safety button in sequence... and it lit right up. She also commended me on saving the stove from the junkyard and told me its value. She asked for nothing in return, only that if I needed anything in the future to give them a call. Great people to deal with and very helpful. I was looking for a very specific size/style of refrigerator and they didn't seem to mind when I called/came in very often. In fact, they told me to bug them as much as necessary since inventory changes often. I'd call in, give them the criteria and they'd scan the models for me saving me a trip each time. Sure enough, I found exactly what I was looking for and it works great (it's not been 2 months). Delivery was excellent though they do charge a little extra if you have lots of stairs (which is more than fair!) and the guys even gave me a spare light bulb. Purchased a vintage Maytag washer a year ago that Savon serviced for leaks. Developed a new leak this year and, believe it or not, Marsha honored the one year warranty on the unit. Louis came out, replaced the offending hose, put the panels back and only charged me for the part and labor ($44) - no service call ($75)! This place came highly recommended by friends and colleauges. So i checked it out about 2.5years ago (so I'm a little slow on the reviews, but hey, I've got priorities!! LOL). I got a decent "like new" refrigerator for my apt. I thought it was GREAT! As others have mentioned, the staff is very personable and friendly. And the same day delivery was amazing! However, the roaches that came with the refrigerator were not so amazing. Luckily the apartment complex took care of those with a few terminex treatments. It was determined from terminex that they definitely came from the refrigerator. Suprisingly I went back to SavOn again this year for a different refrigerator for a different place (I got lazy and didnt want to move the last one, so gave it away last year). This place was great. I found them on Yelp and again Yelp did a great job recommending a place. Our new apartment didn't have a fridge so we needed to find one cheap and fast. The store was smaller than I imagined but it was full of all kinds of options. It seemed no matter what your taste you would be able to find a style you enjoyed. The woman, maybe the owner, was very accomodating. She helped us narrow down our options and then left us alone while we made the decision. She even helped us figure out which way the door should open. The best part of buying the used fridge from Savon is their 12 month service plan that comes standard with all their appliances. When we got the fridge home it made this horrible noise and we didn't know if that was just how this fridge sounded or if something was wrong. When we called to ask they told us they would come out the next day to check. They arrived early, and then waited for one of us to get home, and still fixed the fridge in less than 20 minutes. Our fridge now runs great and at less than half what we would have paid for a new one. I sincerely recommend Savon if you are looking for quality used appliances. Bait and switch... beware. Promised a stove. Paid a deposit. Sent balance upon completion and then told they couldn't hold it for kitchen completion. Said ok give me a new one which they honored and then said couldn't deliver to distance outside of Burbank. Seems this would have been disclosed in a contract for work OR upon seeing my delivery was outside burbank zip code. Had such high hopes but see this is a joke of a place that would rather risk a bad word of mouth than work with a client to their satisfaction. Horrible! read more

ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES!!!!!!! I read more reviews than I leave, but felt obligated to warn others. I got roaches from their refrigerator. I blame myself for this because if you go to their store and park on a side street from the back, you will see that they have some appliances OUTSIDE in their parking lot. I didn't really like that AT ALL but I haven't had a bug problem in years and I guess I was desperate, complacent and in heavy denial. Against my better judgement, I bought from them. When it was delivered there was a dead bug in the fridge, but I wasn't sure what it was. To look inside and under, everything looked fine, but 3 weeks later, I'm seeing roaches under and around the fridge. My new apartment is really nice and well-maintained and like I said, I haven't had a bug issue for 25 years. When I called management to get Orkin out here, he was shocked because the tenant before me and around me hadn't complained of roaches and I believe him. It's not worth it to deal with roaches to save $200. You are better off finding another refurb place that stores everything inside and diligently investigates for bugs or buying new. I will be throwing this in the trash. $200 and $75 delivery fee down the tubes. read more

They took my circumstances into consideration, and how little the fridge was used before its demise and they were kind enough to swap it out, free of charge. I love Savon Appliance. I always get friendly, accurate and honest advice. My washing machine was making a really loud noise and my home warranty company came out and told me there was nothing wrong, without even touching it, then they billed me $75.00 for doing nothing (and it took them 6 days before they could even come to look at it)! I then called Savon Appliance and explained the situation to Marsha. She had a gentleman named Luis at my house the very next day. Luis took about 5 minutes to determine the source of the problem and told me they would need to take my machine to the store to fix it. Within 3 hours, George came and picked up my machine.
