AND WHAT A TIME IT WAS! I made reservations a month in advance for Saturday evening. The parking lot is quite small but the restaurant was easy to locate. Once we entered there was a line but it moved quickly. The hostess and front manager had such pleasant customer service. To our satisfaction we were seated within approx 10-15 minutes. The whole night we enjoyed listening and watching a live jazz band. So if you love jazz like me, this is a place to check out. The whole atmosphere was giving black elegant jazz vibes. The menu had lots of seafood options! For appetizers we chose the crab cake, oysters, and seafood queso! Talk about SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! The crab cake was my favorite! My fiance really enjoyed the queso. And my strawberry lemon drop cocktail was the bees knees! For entrees we ordered the whole lobster thermidor and stuffed salmon. Everything was perfect Half way through the night we were already planning on coming back. It was a perfect date night at the most perfect restaurant. Note I patronized this restaurant 11/2024. Beautiful ambiance, not sure if I was supposed to let valet park my car but I self parked and they didn't say anything. I believe it's seafood restaurant and there was a slight fishy smell when I entered, a little off putting but not super strong. I just hoped it didn't cling to me when I left. It was FREEZING in here, I honestly believe they didn't have the heat on AT ALL. I ordered the savoytini and the lump crab cakes for my appetizer. The crab cakes came less than five minutes after i ordered them and were lukewarm making me think they may have been sitting/someone's else's order. They looked amazing but just tasted ok, they had more breading than crab in them. My savoytini was delicious, I was a little leery of the grapefruit but it was super subtle. We got complimentary bread fresh out of the oven with garlic butter, so fluffy and good! For my entree I got the stuffed salmon . Midway through our drinks and appetizers a live musician started singing accompanied by a guitarist, mood set! The portions were enormous, my salmon fillet was huge and so flaky and tender, cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were good but I think I would have enjoyed rice pilaf more with it. Our waiter is rude, condescending, he doesn't like to be asked questions about the menu he trying tell me how to conduct myself because it's Father's Day , because I was a bit frustrated over the menu, I overheard him talking about our interactions to guest at another table, the restaurant will not make simple exchanges like rice instead of potatoes, if I ask a question he like read the menu I told him about other options I seen online he blew me off I will never come back there are no pasta options I'm sit through this because it's what my husband wanted but I'm so done. Over the last few months I've heard several reviews of Savoy. So I was very much looking forward to the chance to visit. My dining companion and I decided to visit for brunch on Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that brunch was available both on Saturday and Sunday. We made same day reservations but when we arrived it didn't appear that they were needed around noon as there were only three tables with 5-6 people at each currently dining. The restaurant is much larger than it appears on the outside and had many available tables for seating including a bar. We were immediately sat upon arrival. The host was pretty dapper in his fashionable suit and nicely welcomed us to Savoy. As we entered the dining room we were greeted by the smooth R&B tunes being played by a DJ. The restaurant was noticeably very clean and the furnishings were nicely selected. The menu was more limited than I had expected, but did have a nice sampling of items available. When our waiter came to greet us he maintained the welcoming and special demeanor of Savoy. He was very personable and relatable. My dining companion ordered the seafood omelette with grits. I had the salmon patties with grits. We shared the pancake bites. The grits were amazing and cooked just like my grandmother used to make them. My dining companion shared that the seafood omelette was flavorful but didn't seem to have the different and the amount of seafood mentioned on the menu making the omelette over priced. Specifically, they only had three shrimp. The salmon patties were really good...I like them fried a little less firm...but that is a personal preference versus having an impact on the taste. The pancake bites were a little firmer than I'd like as well. But certainly were a unique way to enjoy pancakes in manner that wasn't too heavy. The drinks were great. My dining companion had a very simple Bloody Mary no additional flair was added to it such as garnishes but the base was strong and flavorful. I had the strawberry lemon drop which was flavorful and well balanced. I had a party of two and we recognized when the bill was delivered we were automatically charged for the gratuity. While I'm okay with this because I am a great tipper and I understand that not everyone is...because IYKYK....I just wish that it would have been more strongly indicated before receiving the bill and seeing it reflected there. My server was more than deserving of the tip and would have received it from me even if it wasn't automatically added to the bill. The waiter took a lot of pride in Savoy and voluntarily invited us back and informed us of the upcoming events and nightly happenings of live music. I certainly will return and am glad to see a restaurant of this caliber invest in the Eastside of Detroit. read more

We went to Savoy for a date night. The band was live and the music was wonderful. We had 8 pm reservations (like most ppl waiting) and we had to wait in a hallway 30 mins to be seated. We were seated at 8:30. Our waiter was great and attentive. We ordered 2 cocktails, crabs cakes, meatloaf and the fisherman's feast which was walleye and fries. When we receive the food, my fish was soggy and so were the fries. The fish was very oily, and the waiter immediately offered to correct the situation by frying a new order. Upon receiving the new fry of fish, it was crunchy, however, very bland and seasonless. The meatloaf was also overdone, and the crabcakes were a bit thick for our liking The restaurant is a great night out, but the food leaves a bit to be desired. read more

This little gem on East Warren near Cadieux did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. Love the art deco/jazz vibe - it's cozy, comfortable, and laid back. Service was excellent, our server Will was engaging, funny, and very helpful. I started with a delicious dirty martini, and a shared appetizer of calamari. The calamari was very good, but feel that the portion size could have been a little bigger. I chose the lobster/seafood pot pie as my entree, and I'm still thinking about how amazing it was. It was literally one of the best things I've ever had, no exaggeration. Flaky crust, served in a hot cast iron skillet, filled with seafood and a Cajun cream sauce with just the right amount of heat - it was comfort food on a whole other level. Dinner is served with fresh bread and butter, and we were able to get a refill on it, which was nice. I was sad that they were out of chocolate cheesecake, but I enjoyed the caramel sundae I opted for instead. They also had a decent band playing at a volume that I could still have a conversation with my dining companion, which I enjoyed and appreciated. When the bill arrives, know that a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the total. I was ok with that because that's what I would have tipped anyway with the good service we received. Our table of four had a fabulous experience at Savoy! We had an early reservation, and were seated promptly. Sherry our waitress was warm and attentive and we were very pleased with her service. Finding out she was a fellow CT graduate was just a happy coincidence! We shared the bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer, and each had a different entree. We had the filet mignon, chicken with risotto, stuffed salmon, and steak with pommes frites. The two steaks were of totally different degrees of doneness, and both were perfectly prepared! Each of us had a cocktail, and we shared a bottle of wine. To finish off, we had the chocolate cake and the key lime pie to share. Everything was delicious, and servings were generous (we all had carry out cartons). My only caveat is that the jazz trio, while very talented, was just a little too loud for conversation. We were seated near the band, which certainly had something to do with the volume. When I return (and I most certainly will), I will ask for a table in the back. Impressed,1st with the staff, huddled praying before their shift started. The staff from the doorman, waiters, waitresses, bus service & owners were inviting, friendly & accommodating. The restaurant was warm, clean, with a spacious & modern concept. The Food, out of 36 people, that got different items on the menu, not 1 complaint. Everyone was completely satisfied. We went here for an early New Years Eve dinner and enjoyed it thoroughly. I should preface this with we are foodies. We have lived in Chicago, NY and Brussels and dined in Paris, throughout France and Italy . We enjoy really good food and service. There were a few bumps with the service but food was excellent. I had the chowder to start and flavors were spot on with some of the best I've had in New England. It was a little thick (almost gravy) but plenty of clams and veggies. My wife started with a salad and she was happy. Cleaned the palate for her main - surf and turf. She raved. Execution was flawless. Meat was cooked a perfect medium and was so tender it practically melted in her mouth. Lobster sweet and tender and easy to remove from shell. Even the baked potato was huge and well executed. My main was a house specialty - the stuffed salmon. It was great. Great flavors in the sauce and the salmon was fresh. Really outstanding. Only critique is it was a bit too much, especially the potatoes, and the presentation seemed a bit sloppy with too much sauce covering the fish and veggies so they were indistinguishable. Right amount of sauce but should have been plated better. Otherwise excellent! Cocktails were well done, I had a smoked old fashioned and I must admit was pleasantly surprised. It took a while to get it but when I did it was also well executed. My wife had a glass of red wine and it was a nice selection, especially paired well with her main entree. Like the kitchen, whoever selects for the wine list knows what they are doing. In general Service was good, except for a few missteps like the wait for the cocktails; they removed the water before we were finished and our waiter disappeared at times but people were very nice. They also really need a closet of some type to allow patrons to hang coats and hats instead of draping them over chairs and unused tables. The restaurant itself was nice, a little on the restrained side and the tile walls really amplified the table noise. The live entertainment was good and really made the night special Overall a great evening. Even with the service flaws, I am giving it 5 stars. The kitchen was excellent, drinks and wine selections were well tailored and we enjoyed the experience. They get most of the details and I think they want to improve. If they do, watch out. This place has real potential. We will be back and look forward to it. read more

Restaurant was a lot smaller than I expected, but the decor/atmosphere was nice. My husband is in a wheelchair and they sat us next to another patron in a wheelchair, so the space was kind of congested. Our server Jasmine was nice and efficient. Our party ordered fish and grits (not creamy grits, but a grit cake), seafood trio (all fried), meatloaf, calamari, crab cake and wings. I will say you get a pretty big portion of everything, except the calamari. While it is an appetizer, that portion size was kind of small for the price. The first plate was good, so we ordered another plate. Second plate did not have the same taste as the first plate. That would probably be my only recommendation would be to ensure consistently in the food taste. Other than that, we had a good experience and would like to come back and try the brunch. The ambiance is nice with live jazz playing on the Friday night I visited. I ordered a platter of fried lobster, catfish and shrimp with French fries and a side of coleslaw. The food presentation was nice, taste was about average. One friend had a shrimp pasta that they enjoyed, and the other a seafood pizza that was sent back, and wings that they didn't enjoy. The live music is fantastic but a bit loud depending on where you are seated. We saw both the piano player and a jazz trio; both were great. Food was very good...I had Caesar salad and the Filet. To say I'm ecstatic that Savoy is open is an understatement. I live 1/2 mile away in Detroit's East English Village neighborhood. The location has been vacant since its predecessor Blue Pointe closed in 2015. That said, I checked my expectations since we were there only the third day that the restaurant was open during its "soft opening." The official opening is not until Jan. 24, 2024. There are a few minor kinks to be worked out like with any new restaurant, but compared to several nearby restaurants in Grosse Pointe that also have recently opened, Savoy is doing a fine job in both service and food delivery. The "world famous" lobster bisque did not disappoint. The server asked if I would like a swirl of Sherry on top, which, of course I said yes, and it was a lovely complement to the creamy richness of the soup. My co-diner enjoyed his New England clam chowder, which was chunky with clams and potatoes and flavorful with herbs. Both soups were a tad cooler than we would've preferred, but not worth sending back, in my opinion. The complimentary bread and butter is quite good. The butter is herbed and soft to spread. I had the ocean harmony trio, which is a Cajun seasoned catfish fillet with three butterfly shrimp and a fried Maine lobster tail. I have a thing for deep-fried lobster tails which I used to get during childhood visits to the long-gone Milroy's Restaurant on Gratiot in East Detroit. It was served with "pommes frites" which were tasty, but I don't think they were twice cooked like they are technically supposed to be. They were not served with dipping sauce and I wasn't offered ketchup, but I suppose I could've asked for it. Instead I used the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce that came with my entrée. It was supposed to be served with coleslaw, which I forgot to ask about, but it was just as well because there was plenty of food without it. My co-diner's New York strip steak was cooked how he asked -- medium. It was moist enough that it did not really need the A1 steak sauce that was offered to accompany it. It had just the right amount of marbling. The steaks do not come with any side dishes so we paid extra for sautéed mushrooms and potatoes lyonnaise, which is basically sautéed potatoes and onions. We split a very reasonable $32 bottle of Malbec. Our server said the alternative $80 bottle of Malbec was very smooth, but didn't push too hard. Upon hearing that it was my co-diner's birthday, two complementary glasses of Prosecco were delivered to the table. For dessert we chose double chocolate cake and carrot cake. Both were tasty but just a tad dry. Unfortunately, coffee service is not yet available, but red wine pairs pretty well with cake. Our server LaWana was attentive and friendly. The entertainment, Elevation featuring Chiara, was really good, her voice is amazing, I enjoyed it much more than I anticipated, and it wasn't too loud to drown out conversation. Our bill totaled $178 before the tip. for the amount of food we got along with a bottle of wine I think it was a reasonable price to pay. We originally were planning to go to either Parc or Brine for his birthday, which I know would've been much more expensive. I was super happy to support this new restaurant and I wish it all the best. We will definitely be back. The best drink menu I've seen in a long time with some very unique choices. Overall this is one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. The steak was seasoned well and just melted in your mouth. The catfish and grit cake was so tasty and flavorful. The stuffed salmon had the same sauce as the catfish which was delicious as well. We also had an app of lobster, crab and shrimp cheese dip. We didn't think of taking a picture before we devoured it.It is very classy and upscale and every little detail is accounted for. They even have live music which was very nice. The bill is not for the faint of heart but for the experience I had and the food and just the overall service I definitely will go back. I was at Savoy's on Thursday evening with a group of friends. The service was poor. The waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. We had to flag her down. I ordered meatloaf $28.96 it was horrible, meatloaf had no flavor overcooked. No sauce on it. potatoes were supposed to be whipped, they were lumps. My husband had clam chowder which was bland taste like out of a can. When the waitress brought the checks it had a 20% gratuity. We won't be back. Oh and I forgot the waitress took my husband's soup before he was done. She replaced the soup but insisted my husband said he was done. The ambiance was ok.
