If you want to try a family owned and loved thai restaurant, I definitely recommend this place! Went for my sisters 21st birthday and was surprised! I got a sushi roll and have to admit, it was the best sushi roll i've had in this valley. The ingredients were fresh and high quality. My family got several dishes including teriyaki chicken that came with rice and veggie, drunken noodle, pad kra poa (don't come at me for the spelling), and an indonesian noodle dish. Every dish had unique flavor and we didn't end up leaving bloated and overly full, so i'm guessing no MSG. They surprised my sister with coconut fried bananas for the whole family for free! The son sat us nd gave us amazing service, the father cooked the food, and the mother was a waitress. She had the best humor and joked with us the whole time! I felt very much at home. This is one of the best Thai food restaurants I had so far, besides the Thai food restaurants in Long beach Ca and Treasure Pot in Paramount Ca. I will highly recommend this place. This place has a lot of customers that placing in order you have to wait 30 mins or more!! I give this place 10 if I could. I walked in today because the phone was busy for almost an hour, I left disappointed but what can you expect when the restaurant was full with customers and the phone order were off the roof! We had lunch today at SAWADEE,and it was delicious ..I had the Pad Thai. It was everything I look forward too in this dish,very tasty..the flavors were spot on and it was brimming with pieces of chicken.The noodles were perfect! My partner had the stir fried eggplant with tofu.It was also quite delicious,and the sauces at the sauce bar were perfectly made. They have an easy online ordering system and although you don't actually get an email update when ready, every time we have ordered it was ready to go in the time stated. Our favorite is the Drunken Noodles, but everything has been yummy. Table seating is more casual and mostly booths so if going with more than 4-5 people, better to reserve a table. My husband and I ate here on our road trip back to the Bay Area, from Oregon. So glad we stopped here! We were missing Asian food. We ordered the crying Tiger salad (beef salad), Tom Kha Kai soup, and drunken noodles. I appreciated the sauce bar of in-house made pickled spices and sauces. The owner is very friendly, passionate about cooking, and it was just a great evening meal. My husband is especially particular with Thai food, and we were both extremely impressed! Another disappointing Ashland restaurant with bland, Americanized Asian food. I really wanted to like this place, because the owners are the chef and server, and they are wonderfully welcoming and friendly; and the space is big and airy. But I visited twice, and every dish I (and my friends) ordered was prepared and served with ZERO spice. Tom Kah soup was pure white (no chile oil at all), and as bland as mayonnaise. Drunken noodles were undercooked rice noodles with indifferent brown sauce, way too much sugar, and a few canned veggies. IMO, this isn't Thai food, it's midwestern American children's food with a vaguely Thai approach and a few Thai ingredients. I wonder if they cook this same way for Asians who choose eat here? read more

So good I came back in the very next day after the first time trying this place. We got the pad see ew and Singapore rice noodles, hands down best fried noodles around! The pad see ew was so saucy and perfect, being one of my favorite dishes I often run into the noodles being on the bland side at a lot of restaurants. Not the case here! The atmosphere here is open, clean and calm. My son and inordered a Red curry to share and with the authentic Thai addition of Thai fish sauce (on the bar in the corner), hit the spot. Coming from LA where we have a plethora of thai places, this wasn't it for me. I got the drunken noodles and the noodles were just a bit dry and lacked the spicy flavor that I know. They also used red onions which was quite a difference for any other drunken noodle I've gotten. At the end of the day it wasn't bad, it just could be improved. We did love that they had Inari, though! read more

My wife and I wanted Tom Kha Gai so we tried the new Thai place. We followed other recommendations for the j-pops (jalapeño poppers). Very good. The soup delivered--chicken breast not overcooked, a rare thing. We asked for Mongolian shrimp because I didn't want beef, and they obliged. I'm gonna try the red curry next time. Sawaddee is my new favorite Thai restaurant in Ashland. The space itself is very welcoming and clean and the owner is so gracious and genuinely kind. This place was AMAZING! My friends and I found this place on yelp and stopped here during our drive back home from Portland for dinner and the food was absolutely incredible. Ordered Crab Rangoon, Sawaddee Ohana Sushi roll, Beef Teppanyaki, and Drunken Noodle. The Sawaddee Ohana roll was our favorite by far. Ordered some fried cheesecake and was offered Coconut Panna Cotta on the house which was homemade. Both items were so delicious! Fast service and very friendly staff! Not for me. I gave them 2 tries- drunken noodles and pad Thai. Both had a lot of onions, including red onions which I've never seen in either dish elsewhere. Food was kinda bland and somewhat dry overall, especially for the price. The Thai ice tea was very good however. And the staff was very nice. read more

I only had 3 orders of nigiri sushi, which wasn't that bad (maybe a 6 out of 10) and also got their name sake roll, "Sawaddee Ohana" which looked great on the menu, but was absolutely terrible, I mean I had a hard time eating a couple of pieces of it. But what made me write this review was the lack of respect the young waitress gave me when I told her I didn't like it OR want to take it to go. She then became rude and treated me like crap and also charged me the full $18.00 price for the roll. Now this is an "Asian" restaurant, and they have a nice selection of Thai food and the place was more then half full when I got there. But the sushi really needs to do better, as well as the attitude of the waitress. The thing is, I won't be going back. read more

After enjoying the mountains and the coast of OR and the very American food thereof, Sawaddee was a welcome change of pace immersed in complex flavors and a welcome amount of fiery heat. The basil chicken was so much greater than the sum of its parts and had a depth that I have not experienced outside of Bangkok. Other folks in my party preferred different levels of spice and the server was very accommodating and no one who didn't want their face melted off experienced any unexpected burn. In my travels around the US, I have learned that strip malls often house gems serving up authenticity and goodness from folks gracing us with their deep understanding of their native cuisine. Sawaddee is just one more example of this rule. Treat yourself with a foray away from downtown and into flavor. read more
