This was my second time eating at this restaurant. First time was good enough to make me try again...NOW I'm done! The "fried" rice was not fried....it was mixed together in a pot and served, no Wok Hei, no taste! I also ordered egg foo young....NOPE! I'll let my photo speak for its self.....worst I've ever had! Last...no care for security of patrons. Someone (not a customer) was able to walk in, linger at the counter without ordering, then approached my table singing ??? There are cameras all over this restaurant so this situation should have not happen! The waitress threatened to call the police (but didn't). This person finally left, however the damage was already done. My meal was ruined, the food was not good and all I got from the waitress was "different tastes for everyone". Nope, never again. We got takeout and it was ready in 20 minutes. I enjoyed how the dishes were not greasy or oily and had generous amounts of vegetables! We got the general chicken, bbq pork lo mein, wonton soup, and almond cookies. Everything was very tasty! I'd come here again when in Ashland. read more

Talk about a complete turn around When I first tried Golden Dynasty two years ago there wasn't much good to say about it, with the food lacking in taste and the customer service fairly poor. However, tonight I decided to give them another shot and my goodness is the improvement noticeable. I ordered spring rolls, moo Shu beef, and a Pepsi and they came through with all of it. The food had much more flavor, was better prepared, and the customer service was incredibly friendly this time around. While the time between placing an order and it being ready was around one hour and forty-five minutes, I won't hold that against them since it is Christmas and they are likely short staffed. Just mentioning it in case anyone was considering placing a Christmas evening order going forward. Really the only thing keeping it from a 5-star review would be the price. With the three spring rolls, beef, and canned soda totaling roughly $30, the quantity to cost ratio isn't the best. Overall though, Golden Dynasty has greatly improved since my last time there and I will certainly consider ordering from here again in the future. We went to lunch with another family. There were six of us total. When we arrived, the rest of the party had been seated at a booth. It quickly became apparent that I was going to have to block the aisle with my wheelchair to be able to sit with my party. Confused, I asked where I should sit and the waitstaff gestured toward the aisle opposite of where I was waiting. There was only room to pull my power wheelchair along side the table. I was stunned so I blurted, "You mean I don't get a table?" Again, she nodded. As I parked in the middle of the restaurant, I noticed two eight top tables in the back of the room (the kind with a circular booth an one free table edge.) I asked to move our party to one of those tables so I would have some place to put my plate. We were told they were not available. So, I sat with my plate balanced on the table as I tried not to spill food all over myself as I sat sideways next to the table. Never once in the next 45 minutes did anyone sit at the more accessible tables. The staff was just keeping to customers in the front of the restaurant. Had it just been my family, we would've turned around and walked out. However, neither family involved was familiar with the town or could have known this would be the way I'd be treated. I didn't want to do anything to embarrass my son or his roommate in their new college town, so I just dealt. In 2022, no one should be subjected to humiliation. read more

Other dishes we have tried: Sesame beef-Got this as medium spicy and it was still really sweet. Would order again but get it hot Sweet and sour chicken and Mar far chicken-when ordering to go the sauce comes on the side. The dinner my husband had, beef with garlic, was delicious - so many fresh vegetables. But the chicken soup I ordered had no flavor! $13.00 for a big bowl of spaghetti noodles, good chicken and a no flavor broth is not worth your money. Don't buy the haters reviews. I have searched high and low for good Chinese food throughout my life and this is the top of the list. Everything that I've had from here is amazing and fresh and the owner is spectacular. Prices are right on point and the Ambiance of the restaurant is better then any other Chinese restaurant that I've been to probably because it's exceptionally clean. The only drawback is that during covid they have only been open for takeout. This is such a bummer because we do not live anywhere near this restaurant and so take out is really not an option unless you feel like eating in your car which could be problematic with chopsticks and lo mein. This place offers sub-par food with frozen bits of surprises. Not only is the food horrendous but their quality of service (which is non-existent) has to be one of the worst I've ever experienced. Been buying food here for 3+ years now, and it used to be good but it's gotten worst each order. The last item was the LAST TIME that I will ever order from here. Made me wait 10 min extra on what they said to be a 15 min (1 item) order. This has been our go-to for good Chinese for in Ashland for over 10 years. Apparently word has gotten out, as the place is always packed with in-house diners as well as people picking up take-out. We have never had a bad meal from Golden Dynasty and they hustle to get your orders correct and on time. Highly recommended is the Special House Fried Rice and Special House Lo Mein. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good Chinese meal without having to battle for a parking space or wait for an hour to eat downtown. read more

We stopped by on our way from Portland to the Bay (SF), and it was very clean, and the service was prompt. The best part was the food..clean, not too oily, overdone, or covered with fake prepackaged stuff. I think they make everything from scratch. Although the waitress was a bit of a hoot, she also seemed more interested in just taking my order than making sure I got was I would enjoy eating. I had explained that I wanted to eat gluten free and the waitress said she knew what I meant. I told her that this was the first time I had eaten there, didn't know the menu and asked for her suggestions. Turns out that I only had like two choices - one totally vegetarian and the other with chicken, which I wanted. The dish I got was a gooey pile of non-descript vegetables and the gummiest/slimy chicken I have ever seen! There was NO TASTE to the entire mess - even onions in it were tasteless. And the rice might as well have been styrofoam - dry and flavorless. I gave up after a few bites, took the rest home and my dogs wouldn't eat the left overs. I cook stir fry at home and this is the first 'Chinese' restaurant that I've ever eaten in which doesn't have a clue about 'crisp-tender'. OR variety in the vegetables for taste, color or texture. Plus with so more people asking for gluten free, its ironic that the kitchen doesn't have basics like gluten free soy sauce (which is CHEAP in gallon size at wholesale outlet where most local restaurants buy) or oyster sauce etc. So if you like chop-sloppy come here. My family and I just had the strangest meal of our lives! Before I tell the story lets get the rating out of the way: food was mediocre, 2 stars. The service, 0 stars, rudest server (owner?) I have ever experienced! We are in town to see my grandparents both in their 80s, brought my 15 year old, 11 year old, and picked up my daughter from u of o ( Go Ducks!). With the wife it makes 7 for the group. Aftet a hot 90 Degree, nouveau/hippie tourist experience downtown, we were ready for a meal! The woman was rude, rude, rude. First she yelled at my 84 year old grandmother when she asked for some extra plates, argued with my wife when the order was incorrect (the ticket proved my wife was correct) she took it back and brought back the same order. STRANGE. It felt like the twilight zone. If the food is average to bad, then the service should be good. This place should be shut down. Never eat here. My wife & I discovered this chinese restaurant because it was close to our motel & had lots of free parking. I always try sweet & sour chicken in a new chinese place because, if they can achieve that delicate balance between sweet & sour, then I'm pretty sure I'll like their cooking generally. Well, I loved it----enough that we ate there twice in the week we were in town. (I prefer milder seasonings, myself, but they offer plenty of spicy stuff, too.) I have precious little time to spend writing reviews, but we liked this place enough that I'm writing this over a month after the fact. The wait staff were attentive, prompt, and clearly wanted to please us. I had a slight problem with some part of my meal and the waitress was very conscientious about checking with the cook and correcting it----don't recall what was wrong, but I know I was very happy with the response. The prices are quite reasonable & the food we had was very tasty. Very good "bang for your buck". We also liked how comfortably light and open the restaurant is----lots of large windows. If you like good chinese food, good service, and a family atmosphere for a modest price----and you're not looking for a fancy, trendy, or hipster feel----you'll like this solid little place.
