This is a lovely restaurant, small yet comfortable and a kid-friendly environment. The staff appear rather soft-spoken, but they're attentive and courteous. They are BYOB but offer a decent variety of non-alcoholic drinks. Their desserts are very limited, but I've personally never tried them. What they lack in sweets, however, they make up for in amazingly savory food. Their meals are marked according to spice tolerance, but even the hotter dishes are full of flavor. Going here for lunch or dinner is always a treat and I'm never left unsatisfied. All in all, this is a great place to eat. If you're looking for something with fancy décor and a full bar, you won't find it here. What you will find, however, is good food and good service and that's nothing to complain about. read more

The special mango curry was amazing. Not too spicy and we ended up using the mango a few days later to marinate the chicken. We also got the chicken pad Thai and it was just the right seasoning. The server who I think is the co-owner was friendly and efficient with service. Afterwards, we went to the Hershey Story Museum that is a straight path about 10 minutes away. Ordered the lunch Pad Thai combo, the soup was decent but the egg roll was flavorless and the Pad Thai was extremely bland. Also ordered the Drunken Noodles, which were okay but not enough spice. Sawasdee is our go-to when we're craving Thai food. It's very conveniently located on Chocolate Ave. The atmosphere is peaceful and we always enjoy our meals. Their curry is great but I wish it came with more broth - between our last two trips, we noticed that they changed the curry meal from bowls to plates and there was significantly less of the curry broth. The curry is very tasty, however, and it's perfect for cold days. The Thai Hot Chili Chicken is another outstanding dish and I could get it constantly. I'm SO happy this place is in Hershey! We came in on a Thursday night for dinner and it was pretty packed at 7pm, but still plenty of parking in the back lot. What we ordered: - Panang Curry - Peanut Curry - Drunken Noodles - Thai Iced Tea In order of what I'd get again : Drunken noodles, Peanut Curry, Panang Curry. Drunken noodles had just the right amount of tang and HUGE portions. Peanut Curry had great flavor; however both the peanut and panang curry were lacking in quantity of meat & veggies in the curry. I ranked Panang last because there was very little curry and meat, and I finished the curry way before finishing the rice (never want this to happen...) Thai Iced Tea was GREAT! We came to Sawasdee and the food exceeded my expectations. It was delicious! My boyfriend had the Pad Thai and we think it's the best we've ever had. Impressed! I love thai food and wanted to try this place - finally came for lunch. There is a lunch special!!! AND the portions are very generous that I had enough to take home. With lunch special you get tom yum soup and pork egg roll, which is great. The service was also great as well - the waiter was very attentive and accommodating and there were quite a lot of people by the time 12 o clock hit. The deco is very cute as well. My new favorite Thai restaurant in the area!! We went for pre-Hershey-theater-show dinner. I'm glad I'd made reservations because the place was packed and walk-ins had a long wait. It's very easy to find and has plenty of parking. Only few spots in the front, but back and side of the restaurant has plenty of parking spaces. Food was excellent. We ordered: 1) Vegetable Roll - 1 piece per serving, but the size is huge. If you are ordering curries, then the roll can easily be shared between 2 people. 2) Panang Curry with Seafood - my dining companion loved it. 3) Green Curry with Chicken - was excellent. I didn't change the default spice level and it was perfect. 4) Thai Tapioca with Coconut Milk - star of the night! I wanted to take one home too, but they ran out of it. Serving size was ample. I brought home leftovers. Staff was super nice. Just had to make eye contact and they will walk over. Can't wait to go again and try more items on their menu! read more

I don't know what it is with the Harrisburg area, but there seriously are a lot of great Thai restaurants in the area. This is certainly one of them! To be clear, I love Thai food and I order it all the time, from all sorts of places. This has been a repeat visit for us several times now and is our go-to Thai location in the Hershey, PA area. First off, for this order, we started with the pork spring rolls. Only two per order, which is not unusual, but either way, they are quite good! nicely fried but not greasy. served with a couple sauces, both of which pair nicely. Secondly, just for fun, some fried rice. Fried rice from Thai restaurants is generally different than that from Chinese restaurants...more lightly fried and with a slightly different flavor. The rice from here was delicious, well cooked with good flavor and color. Not overbearing, though a little greasy (but come on, that's to be expected, it's fried rice). Now to the entrees (yes, I realize I'm implying I treated a side dish as an appetizer. And by implying, I mean, yes, that's exactly what I did)! Anyway, two dishes we always order are Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Those are our benchmarks anywhere we go for Thai, nearly 100% of the time. Both are quite good here! Both dishes are offered with a variety of meat (no duck, sadly) and a combination plate with chicken, pork, and beef. I went with that because hey, choices, and was glad i did. all three meats were great! the pad see ew has a great flavor, though not many veggies, which i generally like, so that was a slight disappointment. that being said, it's a great dish! the pad Thai was also quite good, though not the best I've ever had. a lighter flavor, but not too light as some places do it. could also use the option to add some spice, but that's just personal preference. that being said, I'd still order it again. Lastly, the drunken noodles. This was very, very good, with solid a solid Thai basil flavor combined with the classic brown sauce. Very bold flavor, and with more veggies than the pad see ew. Very good! All entrees had huge portions, which again, I'm a fan of. They do offer delivery via at least door dash, so that's an option, but you can also drive in and pick up. When COVID is over, they also offer indoor dining. It's a great place worth a shot. The parking situation is a little tough, with a tight lot, but don't let that stop you! read more

Came here for the first time and had takeout. I love that you can order online. They are not open as of now for dine-in. When I came to pick up my order the entry was barricaded with tables and my food sat on the table labeled with my name and a receipt for me to sign. The woman behind the counter was friendly so that was nice as sad as it was that we can't eat there yet. It does look so fun inside. I got my usual Green curry and my husband got drunken noodles. The kids shared fried rice. We had also added some tapioca pudding and the fried bananas. My curry was delicious and spicy. It came with a side of jasmine rice. It was perfect and filled with a good amount of chicken and veggies. That's a plus because often you see Thai curries lacking in that. I had a bite of my husband's drunken noodles and the kids' rice and both were super flavorful which also surprised me because usually I don't enjoy those dishes. I didn't try the pudding but the bananas OH MAN! I was so happy for these. They were perfectly fried and kind of shaped like poptarts (You get 2 in an order) and they were topped with honey and peanuts. OH---MG. SO yummy. I was very happy to end my meal with these because often when I order them at the other thai place we go to they are out of them. This will definitely be in our rotation for Thai. My family loves Sawasdee. We've been over 2 dozen times over the years and they are consistently good. My 3 and 5 year old fight over the veggies that come in the Pad Woon Sen and they devour the thin noodles. They love the soups too... and I don't disagree. The Tom Ka soup is one of the best soups in town, and the Tom Yum is probably the second best. Drunken noodles are very solid, and you can't go wrong with any of the stir fry dishes or curries. We do primarily pick up, and the service is always clear and very friendly. The orders are almost always completely accurate. In the many years going there (throughout the pandemic) I've only had one time it was not 100% perfect, and THEY discovered the error. Called me 2 minutes after I had picked up the order to let me know they forgot something and threw in a dessert for the extremely minor inconvenience. We are lucky to have such a great Thai restaurant in this area! read more

Family loves Thai and always looking for a new go to place. We arrived for lunch on a Saturday, a little before it started getting too busy. Ordered the Pad Thai, green curry, and #45 Rad Na noodles. Husband and our two little ones (3 and 1.5) loved the Pad Thai. Next time I'll ask for some veggies in it so kiddos get more nutrients, but otherwise very good. My husband and I loved the green curry and Rad Na. Lots of sauce and veggies. Rad Na was delicious and had a great flavor in the gravy. My wife and I went here and it was pretty busy. It was not a very big restaurant, and there wasn't too much in terms of decorations. The person who seated us ended up being our waitress as well. I think I saw 1 other employee maybe 2. I am very patient for food so I think the food service was quick enough. The food was quite good and it was as we were expecting for the Thai meals that we tried. 1 was either ladna or rodna, and the other was a shrimp curry. It came with a generous amount of shrimp and the ladna was sweet and tasty. We were going to order the expensive Thai hot tea but the waitress forgot to bring it out - no worries because we didn't get charged for it. We will definitely come back. Maybe I should have rated it a 5 star because of the taste of the food but I think I should try some other dishes first. read more

Since I moved to Hershey during these covid times, Sawasdee has been a go to for takeout on several occasions. I have tried multiple dishes and everything has been amazing from Pad thai, pineapple fried rice, pad see euw and pineapple curry. I have called orders in and just shown up, placed an order, and food ready within 10 minutes. The staff there is always pleasant and nice. In door dining is closed for now due to Covid. The food prices are reasonable compared to how much food they give me. I will more than likely be back soon. read more

We've eaten here for lunch weekly for the past three years religiously, Thai Tuesday as it was known in our household. That changed recently unfortunately when they raised prices by 25%, understandably with COVID/recession, but they also shrank the portion size by 50% and started using more fillers (think extra bean sprouts or bamboo shoots instead of noodles or veggies) in their recipes. What used to be a filling meal with some wonderful leftovers for me or three meals for my daughter, has turned into a large snack for me or a single portion for a 10 yr old. I rated this a 5 star establishment in the past but the changes to the portion, prices and recipes have dropped it to a high three and what used to be a weekly occurrence is now once ever 2-3 months. read more

Located in Hershey area, it's a casual, simple place with good food. While driving one can easily miss its front since another restaurant's sign is huge and in the front. It has its own parking some in the front and some in the back. Décor is modern and contemporary. Staff and service is veru friendly. The food didn't take much time to arrive after we ordered. We got to try a number of their dishes being in a large group. Tried the foll: - Vegetable roll - One in an order, was like a spring roll, crispy and can easily be shared. - Chicken satay - this was just average, meat was soft but somehow wasn't very flavorful - Red curry with shrimp - was good, shrimp size was large - Green curry with chicken- was excellent. Chicken was soft - Pineapple fried rice - Found this to be one of the best dishes out of the ones we ordered - Panang curry with chicken - didn't like this. This place is amazing. I'm from California originally and thought I'd miss out on delicious Thai food here in Hershey, and I've been happily proven wrong. The shrimp pad see ew and drunken noodles are delicious. Great portions (and a ton of shrimp!) at a reasonable price and I've always had enough left over for a second meal. Their special duck curry was also great, but a little on the pricey side for the portion. The coconut tapioca dessert is really good. I've also gotten their shrimp pad thai which is good as well, but not as flavor-packed as the pad see ew and drunken noodles. We were pleasantly surprised to find good, authentic Thai food outside a major metropolitan city, but decided to take a chance on Sawasdee Thai after reading the Yelp reviews and a long, exhausting day in Hershey Park. The food here tastes like the food you can find in NYC and even in Bangkok, Thailand! And if you really like HOT food, they will make it "Thai hot" but do not ask for this unless you really can handle the heat that comes from the inclusion of actual chillis cooked with the food, not just a sprinkle of dried pepper flakes like the mediocre places will give you. This is how real hot food is made! I'm sure if you order it less hot it will still be as delicious. Besides the heat, the flavors were full and rich. We had the Thai basil and pepper with shrimp, aka Pad Krapow, and the shrimp and crab dumplings, both of which we can recommend. This place is a gem we will look forward to visiting again the next time we come to Hershey. read more
