This is my husband's favorite Thai restaurant and it's closer to the house than mine so we come here fairly frequently. The inside is large with plenty of seating, looks very well kept and clean. They have a wide menu with lots of options. I generally go with their curry or pad thai, both very good. Wash it all down with their Thai tea (I know I sound basic :)). This is probably my fourth visit here. It's been awhile between my last visit. I'll begin by saying that the restaurant is very dark and the decor hasn't changed in years, and I noticed this right off. Maybe some updating and a deep cleaning, new paint etc. But my experience with the food has always been good and that hasn't changed. The restaurant wasn't busy during lunch on this day , so I was seated right away. I asked about a beer and ordered an Asahi , it was my first try at this Japanese bottled beer brewed by Molson Coors in Vancouver Canada. It is a dry beer that I really enjoyed. I was eating Vegetarian today, something I've tried to do here lately, less meat makes me feel lighter. I ordered an appetizer of Veggie Spring rolls, always a favorite of mine. They were very tasty as was the peanut sauce that I generously dipped them in. A nice way to begin the meal. The waiter quietly delivers the food without any conversation, but takes care of my needs when I ask for chopsticks and extra condiments. My Entree is Thai Spicy Basil with crispy Tofu, for me tofu done this way is the best and it was done perfectly. I love Basil and I had hoped for just a little more, but the dish was really sauced nicely with good flavor to mix into the rice. The flavor of the bamboo shoots, green beans, bell pepper , garlic and onion was delicious. The owner checked to see that all was good which I appreciated. Stopped in at Sawasdee Thai restaurant today in Sparks, Nevada for lunch and had some issues. This is a restaurant where we have had many meals without any issues and continue to recommend their food but today the service was less than acceptable so we must downgrade our recommendation. First the owner or maybe just the only female taking orders was serving customers. It looked as though they were short on staff possible. She took our order and I was surprised she did not write anything down so I asked if she remembered what we wanted. I did not want to something to not show up later requiring a complaint for missing food. She repeated the order back to me and I was amazed at her memory. I even commented good memory! She came back with our Thai coffees and slammed the mugs onto the table spilling the coffee. Obviously something was the matter. She walked away but quickly returned and removed the mugs. She then turned around and cleaned up the mess. We commented that only cleaning was required the coffees were fine. But, after that we never saw her again since another server (male) came out with our coffee replacements. We asked the new server if the owner (or other woman) was mad but we never got an answer. He did say that she was the owner though. Honestly, the food tasted great but after all that had happened, we now worry if something might have been done to our food in retaliation for her anger. Our usual order consists of rangoons, green chicken curry, yellow chicken curry, shrimp pad Thai, Thai fried rice and mango sticky rice. All level 2 out of 5 aside from the mango sticky rice and rangoons. The service is quick with ordering to-go and typically takes 20-30 mins. The servers are courteous and always get any additional items such as garlic paste, soy sauce or utensils. The prices can range depending how much you'd like but we typically pay $60-$70 but a little over $80 with tip. I can't believe it took me so long to try out Sawasdee! I'm fully convinced that they have the best Thai food in the area. The pad Thai is amazing. Is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy. The potion is huge. Every time I go I only finish half. Another favorite is the appetizer sampler! Every single thing on the plate is delicious, especially the crab Rangoon. It's $15, but so worth every penny! Also try out the Thai iced tea! It's such a refreshing compliment to the meal. We had a reservation for 8 and my bf was a little irked that when we came just a few minutes early, it wasn't set up. I guess it wasn't busy but at the same time, it got pretty busy right after. Just a little thing but still, Saturday nights can be very busy anywhere. I got the pineapple chicken- basically deep fried chicken in pineapple sauce, similar to like a s&s chicken. Finally made it to the furthest Thai restaurant from my house (20+ miles )and it was worth it! Unassuming furniture, some Thai decor that was low key, but a friendly, bustling staff, a large menu, but most of all, very good food! Of course I had to order pad Thai, (my yardstick for Thai food). which I definitely will order again --tasty, sizable portions. I also ordered Tom yum goon, that fiery soup with shrimp., mushrooms, lemongrass and fresh tomatoes. Unbelievably I did not have to argue or plead to get it hot enough!!! We got the red curry (spicy 4), green curry (spicy 3), tom -yum soup (spicy 3) and shrimp Rangoon's! Everything was really good but the curry was our favorite. The curry is thin and has a lot of really good vegetables in it like, eggplant, bell pepper, cucumber, bamboo shoots & more. Level 3 is good if you like medium spice and level 4 if you like spicy. i was hangry for Thai, so stopped into Sawasdee for lunch. There was only one hostess who was managing all the tables. My son and I waited a few moments before she came back to take our drink/meal order. Son ordered chicken satay and chicken pad Thai and mango smoothie, I ordered Tom Ka soup and iced tea. the hostess looked like she was overwhelmed by having to seat the customers, take meal orders, and serve the food at the tables. Our drink orders arrived. Then my son's pad Thai. plentiful portion for one person. My chicken pho was flavorful, but not the best I ever had. We came here about 12:30pm on a Friday. My wife's coworker had mentioned this place to her and so we decided to check it out. We were seated right away and provided with menus and our drink orders were taken. The menu is large, they also have a lunch menu during the week from 11am-3pm which has a wide selection of options at very reasonable prices. I decided on the spicey basil chicken and my wife chose the ginger lover chicken, both looked and tasted delicious and fresh. All items are ordered with a spice level of 1-5 with 1 being the mildest.
