Doesn't look like much but the sushi and sashimi is excellent! Its always crowded so ur best bet is to order ahead and pick it up. When I first moved to AZ I thought no way can raw fish be a good idea in a desert place but I was wrong. Its super fresh and better than a lot of places I've been to in Cali and about a fourth of the price. Give it a try you'll be pleasantly surprised!!!! read more

We stopped in for lunch one day around 2, sadly missing the happy hour, Bc this place is pricey. However, it's the only sushi place in Maricopa and for that reason alone, worth it if you need a sushi fix. I'd give more stars, but the restaurant is too small. We were crammed against other people and then had to stand up and move when some other folks needed to leave. We had a car seat also and nowhere to put our baby. We ordered 3 rolls and egg rolls and our total was 42$. Maybe that's the norm, just a little pricey for lunch. However, the amount of food you do get, is astounding. So I upped this to 4 stars, Bc this may be the only sushi place you leave full. The rolls were massive and delicious. We will definitely be back! read more

Nestled in the back end of a sleepy backside strip center in Maricopa, Az (where??), the locals here know right where to get great Sushi and don't have to travel miles into nearby Phoenix to get fresh and delicious Sushi. Nope, you got it right here at Say Sushi! There's a large and varied menu, prices are reasonable, and most important the food is tasty and consistent. And there's even a Teriyaki Chicken bowl that is really yummy as well! Wait staff are friendly, and the place is always buzzing! If your a regular, you'll feel like family soon enough. We went here a week ago and the taste of disappointment lingers. I read some good reviews and since we love sushi I was game to try this place. Free miso soup was a nice touch but frankly lacked taste. We ordered several sushi items including shrimp tempura, tempura plate and snapper nigiri. The snapper nigiri was rubbery and I would be surprised if it was indeed snapper! It was neither fresh nor tasty. When the large portions of "shrimp" tempura rolls arrived I was shocked. The tiniest baby shrimp was stuffed inside a mayo-filled "krab" (fake crab) salad! Couldn't eat more than a bite! Not only is this place NOT better than the Scottsdale restaurants. It's the WORST sushi place I have ever visited. read more

I agree with the commenter who talked about the lack of website/menu/ability to reach someone via phone. I'm new to the area and was looking to get my sushi fix and thought I'd found somewhere good to try, but you can't call them (phone's not in service), you can't place and order online (no website) and you can't call a delivery service because you won't know what to order because the menus aren't the same (and as someone with a shellfish allergy, I like to know what's in a dish before I purchase it and it seems like they have a lot of things that contain crab). I won't be doing business here (no one probably cares, but it felt good to state my little ol' opinion, so there). read more

Food is awesome! I love it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it is very small inside. Very cramped. I hope you'll move to a larger location with all the building happening in the area and also the town is growing and you have a larger customer base. So invest in your growth! Love this place. Small but nice intimate environment. They are friendly, the food is delicious. Love the lobster volcano dish. It's alot of food so be prepared to eat that with at least one or possibly even two other individuals. The chicken teriyaki bowl is very good, filled with large strips of chicken & veggies over rice. They provide extra sauce just in case. They even have a great stamp catd that offers a free appetizer after a certain number of purchases. Very disappointed in say sushi tonight. Usually they are great. But tonight they gave me the wrong order and I had to drive clear back there to get mine. So I put all the wrong food back in the bag, and drive back. My food which was left out waiting for who knows how long was then given to me after having to wait in line again. I had called, and they told me to bring the food back and they would give me mine. So when they see me walking in the door with a bag of food in my hand, they should be meeting me with mine. No, I have to wait. My food was cold. Cold spring rolls are not great. And the worst thing of all was no one even said sorry. No offer of anything. Just being ignored after they screwed up. I'm a big lover of Japanese food, and Say Sushi hit it out of the park. Their food was amazing- I ordered beef teriyaki and miso soup. Both were made in a short amount of time, and tasted great. I would strongly recommend this place to others. Their California Rolls are also very good. read more

My husband and I have been here twice and I'm not thrilled. It's hard down here with regards to something more eccentric. Lots of fast food, Mexican and low grade pizza. I want to fully support a sushi restaurant in Maricopa, Mainly for just versatility of cuisine. The first time we went to Say sushi the sushi wasn't great. It was warm (for cold rolls) which is an immediate turn off for me. I felt their prices were a tad high on rolls compared to sushi I could get in chandler. And so we didn't go back for a long while. Fast forward to tonight we when came in late. 30 before closing. That's On me. I know restaurant workers don't like that, as I myself used to work in restaurant and if you got everything cleaned up and someone came in at the end of shift it can be inconvenient. But I didn't feel we came in THAT late and we did order a crap load of sushi or food. I got tempura and a roll. My husband got the chirashi. When it first game out we were impressed with how large the bowl was. It had giant, thick pieces of fish too. So overall it was really good and I'm not complaining about the amount of actual food. But there were so many inedible garnished that took up half the bowl. I think one of them was shaved diakon? There was as much daikon as rice and it was overpowering and unpleasant if you tried to eat it. It also made trying to mix the bowl impossible. It was a good price for how much fish just all the lemons, parsley and daikon are unnecessary in the amount they are provided. Then mine. I asked for the tempura mix. My tempura came out first and it was just a couple pieces of veg. So I asked the waitress about the shrimp and she replaced it. Cool. But for $8? An onion, 2 shrimp, 2 zucchini and one piece of potato. The veg were cut so thin too they soaked up all the oil and didn't taste super great. Very bland. My sushi roll was really good though. Mostly it was just service. When we got the check we were charged for a beer that we didn't order. When I went to ask about it one waitress ignored me and the other seemed upset I came up to correct the ticket. We left maybe ten minutes max after closing? All in all it felt like they rushed the end of night because they wanted to go home and I could have been left paying for an overpriced beer I didn't drink. I may try one last time but it's hard to want to go back when the experiences have been unpleasant and I know better priced and tasting sushi is only a 35 minutes drive away read more

My favorite happy hour spot in this little town. Love having a sake bomb, some appetizers and rolls after work. Prices are super reasonable. Everyone is super nice there. The only negative I'd have to say about the restaurant is the size.. wish they would expand to a bigger restaurant but I still love them and learned to go before the rush or after so that way the wait time isn't too Bad. read more

I absolutely love Say Sushi and have been going here for years... HOWEVER... we went for the first time tonight post pandemic, and it was the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. They were not completely packed and staff was standing around when they should have been working the room (very small room I might add) to make sure their customers are satisfied. Once we were sat at our table, we were ignored for about 10 minutes until we were given menus. I'd say almost another 10 minutes went by until our waitress came around to take our drink/ food order. Appetizer came out, we were not given plates, napkins, utensils. Sushi came out, finally given plates etc but asked for a different drink as my tea tasted like sugar water. Waitress NEVER came back to bring me a drink, my husband was never offered a refill, we were never checked on at all. I had to ask someone for our bill and of course the drink charge was on there. Made them take it off. This girl did not even deserve a tip. I read another review where staff shows favoritism towards their regular customers, and I 100% agree. A couple sat down next to us and were immediately greeted and orders were taken in less than 5 minutes. You could tell they were regulars by how they were greeted and was asked if they wanted their usual. The food is awesome, the service is horrible. I think I'd rather have mediocre sushi from somewhere else than have to endure another night like this. The owners really need to get their staff in check before their business is affected. read more
