Saw this place highlighted by a Vegan influencer I follow and wanted to try it out for lunch today. Love that they have a regular full menu and a dedicated Vegan menu. The dining room itself is pretty decent size, but I can't speak to ambiance since there were only two other tables occupied when we were there. It seems chill, but I would need to come back at dinner time to see what it's like when it's more crowded. I asked our server about the Vegan specials (as indicated on menu) and she listed a whole bunch of options and walked me through what was Vegan on the regular menu as well as detailing all the items on the separate vegan menu. So definitely ask when you're here so you don't miss out on anything!! Hubby got the Tabe Ramen. He really enjoyed the dish and said the protein was cooked well and the base was not overpowering or too salty, and it was perfect lunch portion and delicious. I got the Vegan Gyoza, Vegan Monsoon Roll, and Vegan Shrimp Fried Rice. The gyoza was bomb (even hubby liked it), the monsoon roll had a flavor in it (not sure what it was) that was a bit strong, but I still ate the whole thing (just probably wouldn't pick it for myself next time). The rice was well cooked and flavorful, and the hubby said the "shrimp" tasted shrimp adjacent (I don't eat seafood so I wouldn't know), and it was ok it was just a new flavor for me that would take getting used to. It came with a vegan fried egg (again something I have never tried before), and it was very close to the real thing (even looking like it would with how the egg whites brown when cooked)! Stopped in for happy hour and was very glad I did. This place did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly and the inside was very clean. We ordered egg rolls, gyoza, vegas roll, veggie roll, crunchy rolls, and of course, sake bombers. The sushi was super fresh and well executed. So much flavor that kept my chopsticks going back for more. The gyoza and egg rolls were your typical flavors. Nothing to brag about there. The sake bombers were refreshing. First time here!! I walked in and ordered. They said it would be a 20 minute wait. So I ordered a glass of wine. Which the guy poorer extra for the wait. Very nice! But the food was done a lot sooner. I was still able to sit at the bar and sip on my wine. As I was finishing a female employee came to ask if I needed water. Very nice and needed before I rushed home to eat my food after downing a glass of wine. She wanted to make sure I made it home safe. Very much appreciated. The decor inside was nice. This was our first time visiting. We went on a Friday evening, 5p, during Happy Hour. The place is a good size, clean and cozy and the staff is super friendly. Our waiter explained some of the items on the menu, and he even suggested we get a different menu item as we'd get more food if we did. The food items were delicious. We originally were going to get just appetizers, but we figured we'd try a meal as well. The ramen bowl had a nice touch of spice, and they give you so much I actually ate over the course of two days. The teriyaki chicken was good. After looking on Yelp for dinner recommendations on July 21, 2023, we decided on Tabe-Mono. Get this............I have nothing negative to report! LOL It started well when I called ahead and asked about the wait time. A lady who didn't quite understand me got a gentleman to take my question. He responded in a friendly, inviting way. For those of you that read my reviews, you know I'm a hard judge when it comes to Japanese cuisine. For me, I wait until I visit California, New York, Vancouver B.C. and Japan for grand Japanese food. As for the greater Phoenix area, I think the choices are limited for us but there are a few places I'd frequent again. Cherry Blossom Noodle Cafe, Hana Japanese Eatery and now Tabe Mono. I like the food at Tabe Mono! It's true that Tabe can't compare authentic tastes to Cherry Blossom or Hana but Tabe does execute sushi rolls and tempura well! Their salmon skin roll ($4.95 on Happy Hour ) rice to filling balance was perfect. The nori was NOT chewy like the last restaurant we dined out at. Their Las Vegas roll ($8.95 Happy Hour) was delicious. So good we ordered two! The flash frying of the batter was done just right and was served with the ideal amount of eel sauce. (Not over saturated.) I also like their vegetable tempura. ($4.95 Happy Hour) It was refreshing to enjoy a light, crispy batter on the vegetables- similar to what my mom would cook. The food is always excellent, and you can choose from a wide range of choices in their lunch specials. The sushi is really good here, if you don't order from the lunch specials, all of the rolls and sashimi I've tried here are really good. I love coming here! The service is incredible (and knowledgeable), the ambience lovely and the food is amazing. To top it off, they have a couple different "adds" to the menu we generally don't see at sushi restaurants. For one there is an extensive vegan menu. The servers are very well versed in vegan and will explain to you how they make it and what is in the dish. They also have a Japanese dish called Shabu Shabu. My understanding (havent tried it yet, but next trip!) it is a broth that comes with different veggies and beef, if you eat beef, where they bring everything for you to cook at the table! How fun is that?! They are large so it is a shareable and also available in vegan. My last note for everyone is their happy hour. They have an extensive roll, appetizer and drink menu that is priced perfectly! You can try so many different rolls at a fraction of the regular price. The service here was excellent! I wish I could remember his name, but our server was super friendly and attentive. We learned so much about this style of eating. We started with the vegan monsoon roll which was amazing! We were also served some complimentary vegan sashimi which was just like the real thing. We then had the vegan Shabu-Shabu (hot pot). It came with an excellent variety of vegetables, udon noodles, tofu, vegan shrimp and vegan ham, steamed rice and sauces. We loved it all except for the vegan ham. It just didn't seem to go with the meal. Next time I'll skip that and ask for more tofu. They have so many other vegan options on the menu as well, so we will definitely be back soon! read more

We were intrigued by their vegan friendly hotpot and menu... vegan friendly?? More like vegan family!! We enjoyed the vegan menu and the servers were very well versed on the menu and what it offers. Hotpot vegan set includes sashimi, and for the hotpot, we got bacon, shrimp, (both vegan!) tofu and a assortment of vegetables. It was so helpful that the server recommended to warm up the shrimp and bacon, because if you left it in there too long, it can overcook. It was a great tip. Everything we ordered was delicious! I will definitely be returning to this lovely gem. As a vegetarian I'm often baffled by how little creativity most sushi restaurants have when it comes to offering a few slightly better than basic rolls but I'm happy to say this wasn't the case w/Tabe-Mono. I loved my rolls! The server was wonderful and described what was in each so I went with one of his recommendations. Beautiful presentation and delicious! We always go to Tabe-Mono. They have this fantastic waiter who is so friendly, attentive, and is very fast with getting us what we need/want. Try the Fancy-U roll. No other sushi places make this special roll. This restaurant is clean, beautiful inside, and is spacious. They just did an incredible job renovating the restaurant couple months ago. How this place has such high ratings is absolutely mind blowing. Do you people go to RA and think that's good too? Staff is friendly and it has a nice size, so there's that. I"m not sure they have an actual "sushi chef" or if it's just some kids that watched some youtube videos and decided they were now sushi chefs. Hey - if you make a lollipop roll, you're supposed to take off the skin...FFS. Every single roll that we got was not good and seriously overpriced. Do you like California rolls? I hope so, because the majority of their rolls are based on a California roll, for like $17. Anything that has a sauce, is drenched in sauce to the point that it's basically inedible; you taste nothing else at all. This place charges ridiculous prices for the "quality" you supposedly get. We normally give places another shot but for the $80 we spent, definitely not coming back. There are better places around here (2 across the street - Ginban and Nakano) that are 1000% better. Knocked it out of the park with the vegan sushi! We ordered more than necessary, but we ate like a queen and king with leftovers of the cold stuff for the next day. The vegan shrimp monsoon roll was hands down the winner. The seaweed salad on top was fresh and delightful on the roll. The golden avocado shared plate was the priciest item at $14, but each piece was nearly half an avocado with spicy tuna inside, tempura battered and fried, drizzled with all the sauces. So part of this food journey has included occasional pop ups at some vegan spots. 1. Being I'm interested in how close Vegan food spots can actually get to the real deal and, 2. Here's the diggs. Shabu Tonkotsu with Brisket and Quail Eggs - Definitely the highlight of the night and the restaurant, I ordered Shabu with Tonkotsu Broth, which came with a side of mixed veggies, Brisket cooked to your liking and 2 Quail Eggs. Fire!! The Broth was amazing, mad meaty flavor, and you cooked your Brisket how you like, Medium in my case. Some of the veggies included were Kabocha (Squash) and some feathered greens which were hella good. The quail eggs topped it off, almost having a buttery flavor. Amazing!! Must try for me here. BLCR Roll - If you're a Lobster lover, this one's it. It's a California Roll topped with a Crab Mix and Langostino, with Eel Sauce, Masago and Green Onion. Bomb yo!! OMG Roll - Spicy Tuna, Salmon, Shrimp Tempura, Crab Mix and Avocado wrapped up in Soy Paper. Topped off with a Spicy Mayo, Masago and Green Onion. Good shit. Vegan Wings and Salmon - I know, it sounds crazy right!? But it was actually pretty good. Nothing like the real deal but it came close, even the salmon. The Qing bones were mimicked by sugar cane sticks, and the made from Soy Bean. So was the Salmon but both came out fine, seriously. If you're Vegan, have to give it a go. My friend and I were in the mood for some sushi around the area and this place popped up at the perfect time! Looks like they closed for a while and are now having their grand opening. We were welcomed with a clean restaurant and friendly staff! They were able to get us seated right away. We decided to try some sushi and their dinner combo plates, which offered a nice variety of food. We were satisfied with everything we got. I've been here a few times and it was okay. But my most recent visit they sat us in a booth that was infested with ants. They got on me and my phone. They moved us to another booth nearby and it also had ants. It was disgusting and they didn't even apologize. We moved to a third booth and proceeded to not be acknowledged and get incredibly slow service, as if they were mad at us that there were ants in our seats?! The food was okay, the avocado in my sushi roll was brown which I didn't think was acceptable for a sushi restaurant. We come all the way from Pasadena, CA to do the Arizona Aloha Festival in Tempe EVERY year. Last year we found Tabemono because we were staying in Chandler. This place is AMAZING!
