Three words folks: A Freaking Mazing. I don't venture into Tenafly often if at all but a co worker of mine referred this place. Once i checked out fellow reviews and picture that past the eyeball test i was sold. The outside looks very inviting and welcoming like it talks to you inviting you inside lol. The ambience was quite romantic. Perfect dim to light ratio for the setting of this place. Borderline upscale and casual literally tiptoeing that line. So no need to dress up too nice..but I would do jeans and sneakers neither. The staff was super friendly and professional. Reservations are recommended for large parties after 7pm during weekends because it was getting kind of packed as it got later. But what about the food though... 4.5 out of 5 stars Very AUTHENTIC, The complimentary bread with Olive oil was GREAT!!! I had to stop myself so I was not full before the meal came. Bread quality so soft and fresh just melted in your mouth. The seafood Paella was amazing perfect blend of spices and rice to meat ratio. The shrimp and Scallops were sooooooooo good. The Filete de Lenguado Relleno Stuffed Filet of Sole With Shrimp, Crabmeat, Lemon Sauce,Vegetables and Duquese Potatoes IS A MUST ORDERRRRRRRRRRRRR. The Lemons sauce was so good you had to slap yourself to make sure it was real lol. The "Pollo al Ajillo" Chicken on the Bone in Garlic Sauce With White Wine, Served With Spanish Potato and Yellow Rice was phenomenal as well. The potatoes seasoned and cooked to perfection in a very flavorful garlic sauce was just to die for seriously. Chicken slow cooked on the bone marinated in this sauce. The New York Strip Chef Jack Style NY Strip Topped With Serrano Ham, Two Sunny Side Up Eggs in Light Brown Sauce,Roasted Potato was very good as well. Well seasoned steak came sizzling hot. Everyone in our party was more than pleased with the quality of the food and the portion to quality ratio off the charts.The yellow is family style they will bring out more upon request throughout the evening THE SANGRIA WAS EXCEPTIONAL !!!!! It was also the MVP of the night. IF YOU ARE A SANGRIA FAN THEN IT WOULD BE WORTH IT TO COME HERE FOR THE SANGRIA ALONE IT IS THAT GOOD SERIOUSLY FOLKS Our server Persio was the man. One of the best waiters as far as personality, efficiency, customer service and knowledge of his job all wrapped up into one. He us feel like we were at home. Based on his service i can see why this business has all the great reviews and packed houses on a Friday evening. I didnt give 5 stars because the WIFI did not work and the calamari and yellow rice was solid but not great but still tasted well. TIPS: 1. I placed my order through Door Dash for the paella marinara with special instructions of "no peas please". The order is a large order and the driver handed to me and left. I bring it to the kitchen and open the large and heavy bag and get to the tray of paella and there peas in it! I call the restaurant and the person on the phone wants the paella with the peas back and for me to give it to the driver. How do I do that when he's long gone? PROS: This place is actually amazing. This location had 4 other restaurants that failed, however this one is here to stay. The wait staff was nice, knowledgable, and fast. The atmosphere was elegant! It has a nice looking bar with two tvs and had a beautiful bathroom. The food was great and priced appropriately for a restaurant of it's looks. CONS: The only cons that I saw here was that they do not have a parking lot. You have to park on the street. In addition to that, the bathroom was nice, but small at the same time. Be careful making a reservation on Open Table. I made a reservation for 9:15 pm for 9/24 two days ago. It was even confirmed by Open Table. The restaurant waited until about 3pm the same day of 9/24 to tell me that they close at 10pm and maybe I should come earlier.. like 7? Huh? What I would like to know is.. why make the reservation an option on Open Table and then wait to the day of the reservation , 6 hours before to tell me this. Today is my 40th birthday. And now I am left scrambling for other options bc I'm worried we would be short changed bc they may not be willing to be ready for a reservation that they made available. Maybe update your OPEN TABLE parameters management? You ruined a milestone birthday for me. Wow, wow, wow. Thanks again to Yelp reviews for pointing me in the direction of Sayola, my new favorite Spanish restaurant. Conveniently located just minutes from my home, down a charming residential street is a piece of Galicia. Just walking in the door immediately transports you to another place with the lovely décor and background music. Host escorted us to the table and you could feel the friendly vibe bouncing off the walls. Our waiter was excellent. Great menu recommendations and super-attentive service. Went with a pitcher of the white sangria (yet the martini menu was very appealing). Grilled octopus appetizer was very good, the seafood crepe was amazing. My wife order the zazuela - an abundance of seafood cooked in an amazing sauce. I went with the garlic chicken - not overpowering on the garlic and just the right touch of flavors. Served with rice, chips (typical Spanish sides). Already in the third phase of food coma, but we had to try a dessert. The bread pudding (all of the desserts are made in-house, according to our waiter) was wonderful - topped off with vanilla ice cream. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality, quantity, and excellent service. My only regret is not going on an evening when they have live music. Our waiter was very good. He suggested the Sangria (by the pitcher) that was made with Remmy Martin. Skip it as it was so diluted with ice that it tasted like a weak fruit drink. In fact, I had a couple of glasses on an empty stomach and I am still waiting for the buzz. However, the main course, Fideua De Mariscos was excellent. The Calamares Fritos was bland. Food was authentic and excellent. Ibérico ham and manchego platter was very good. Rack of lamb was one of the best I've ever had. Extremely tender and perfectly cooked. This place is really nice and the food is ok, the skirt steak appetizer was delicious but the octopus appetizer was not that good, the octopus looked almost like plastic and no flavor, the sangria was very good, the lychee martini was strong, we sat at the bar, the girl bartender was not attentive at all, only us and another couple sitting at the bar and somehow this woman could not see us waving our hands, could not hear us call her...overall ok place, not sure if we'll go back, maybe just for sangria and hopefully find a new bartender. read more

We were looking for a real spanish tapas bar, and we found this place. This place is awesome! The food is very good, real spanish food, and the service is excellent. Not to mention the presentation of the restaurant, which is decorated of a unique way. The convenient valet parking, the greeters, bartenders and waitresses were very courteous and professionals. We want there as a group this past Saturday. I will say the service was spotty, decent but not great. Had to ask for bread three times before getting it. I had the shrimp with garlic sauce which was ok but very very salty. The chicken dishes were like wedding reception food. Not bad but nothing special at all. The soup which was included was decent. Benny the bartender gave me taste of the house rose (nice & crisp) before mixing up a delicious & generous margarita, all fresh ingredients no sorry sour mix here!! We ordered the center cut pork chops to share and it was plenty. The chops were flavorful & tender. Next up Benny & Zeus get into a mojito making contest. BEST MOJITOS EVER!! It was a tie! So disappointed. Hoping it was just an off night. Went with friends a few weeks ago and our waiter was short on words or any semblance of friendliness or just service you'd expect at this price point - it was literally, "drinks?" "ready to order?" and then after we finished eating dinner we waited a good 40 minutes (not exaggerating) until he asked about coffee/dessert, and no we weren't just left to relax and enjoy the rest of our wine because that was done, as were our waters. I don't know what was up, it was not full or particularly busy and there seemed to be enough staff around. The food was also not as good as usual. One of our appetizers was the montadito-ahi tuna on bread - was always a favorite but this time the bread was mushy and the tuna just didn't seem fresh - it actually crumbled, like it broke into small sections, it was weird. The pulpo was also not good enough to finish. Garlic shrimp was fine but not crazy good. Other dishes included a chicken dish, mariscada with green sauce, and one of the steaks (can't remember) were just boring and overly salted as if one person salted and then the second person didn't know the first person added salt and added more. Unrelated to the food, but sometimes you'll see a Bentley parked out front with the "Sayola" license plate....kind of tacky and makes the fact that my auto correct keeps changing Sayola to Payola even funnier. I believe the name is some combo of the owners' children's names but I'm guessing the kids were not the cause of the Bentley. We went to their place in Dumont, Taberna Steak & Tapas and were amazed by how authentically Spanish it looked down to every detail but then the shock came when the menu was devoid of any single item that could actually be considered a Spanish dish. Really just regular bar food you could find anywhere. Such a shame when they made such an effort to make it look like a real Spanish place even good Spanish beer. Maybe that soured us but although we'll never go back to the Dumont place we'll give Sayola one more try then that's it. read more
