Stayed at a hotel in Goleta while visiting from Boston for a wedding in Santa Barbara, California. Found this little gem of a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. I love the SB sunshine cafe! It's a hidden gem that you shouldn't sleep on. There are a few other breakfast joints right near it that are supposed to be nicer, fancier spots, but SB Sunshine Cafe is much cheaper and honestly has dishes that taste much better than the nearby competitors. Their servers are also very accommodating and friendly, and the food comes out fast! Even though they have such great prices and a large menu, the quality of the food at the SB Sunshine Cafe is not compromised. I can say this with certainty as I've tried a number of their menu items over the last 4 years. I stopped by today and ordered their oatmeal with caramelized bananas. My boyfriend ordered their Italian omelette with no mushrooms, paired with biscuits and hash browns. We both loved our food, and will return sometime soon! read more

I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict expecting something crisp, flavorful, and well-crafted. Instead, what arrived was a soft, lumpy pile of mush that barely held its shape. It had the consistency of soggy stuffing and tasted more like filler than crab. The poached egg was good but runny yolk could never disguise the lack of texture or seasoning. It was more like breakfast gone wrong than a seafood dish. Hard pass. read more

My g.f. and I ate here with a Twism 2-for-1 deal over the weekend. We were initially seated in the back of the restaurant (near the restroom) as the only other tables available were for 4 people & asked to be moved to a corner booth which opened up. I believe it was one of the owners (I saw on a TV spot) which told my g.f. that it was not available until it was cleaned (which was obvious & a little rude). We ordered the California Benedict & Veggie Scramble which were a little bland & not very hot. The breakfast in comparison to Cajun Kitchen or Cody's Cafe was about the same price but inferior IMO hence the 3-star review. read more

Always wondered about this place- and now I know! Food is great and filling. Ordered breakfast and was delivered in a timely manner. Crab Benedict was tasty - I would recommend it for seafood lovers. It's a nice thick layer as thick as the English muffin and drizzled with sauce (not drenched and soggy). The Eggs Benedict were a little over cooked for my liking (I like having the yoke run out when I cut it open). House potatoes were well seasoned and it was filling! French toast combo was good- French toast was made well and not soggy and floppy like some other places. Plenty of cinnamon too. Had the sausages which were ThIcK and tiny pinky sized sausages. Eggs over medium were made to order. Added a side of hash browns with were crispy on the outside and soft inside, but cold. This was probably due to the addition time for delivery (not to be counted against them). Cinnamon roll was a good sized treat. Not overly gooey or sticky, but not overly sweet either. It was good, but I'd probably try a different dessert next time. I'm sure if eaten on the spot it would've been warm and gooey, but bc of the delivery time, it was lightly warm in the middle. We drove from Oxnard to Santa Barbara to drop off a friend at the airport. We had a little extra time before the flight, so we looked on yelp, to find a highly rated breakfast restaurant, near the airport. We found "THE SUNSHINE CAFÉ", which had a 4.8 out of 5 .3 rating, so he gave it a try this morning (June 5, 2024), and boy am I glad that we di We were seated immediately, with one wheelchair in our party. Plenty of room for scooters or wheelchairs. The waiter took our drink order within 1 minute of being seated. The waiter came back a few minute later, to take our orders. I had "SUNSHINE SCRAMBLE", which is cream cheese, and sautéed spinach, and I added on bacon. At 1st I thought the cream cheese might be a little weird, but when I ate it, it was to die for! I did add salt and pepper to the eggs. I think it's good that they did not put a lot of salt or pepper on, because people cannot handle it sometimes. 1 of my friends had a chorizo omelette, and he loved it, also with Rosemary for potatoes, which he loved also. My other friend had "BREAKFAST SANDWICH", and she said it was great. She also thought that the Rosemary potatoes were great. The coffee was good also, a little bit too dark roast for my taste, but both of my friends but the coffee was really good, so I guess it is just a matter of taste. :-) Service was great, and the restaurant was very clean. Worst pancakes I've ever had. Thin and doughy. Yuk! Service is ok. Ambiance is good. Do yourself a favor and order something else.

We were in Goleta for an event and found SB Sunshine Cafe on Yelp. We went for brunch and we were not disappointed. I had the pancake combo and it was great. My mom had a scramble and fruit. The servers were friendly. We had to wait about 15 min but I don't mind because that means the place is good if it's busy! I will go back again next time I am in the area. Stopped here on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. It was quiet, and I was greeted and seated promptly. Lots to choose from on the menu, and I ended up ordering 2 eggs scrambled well done plus english muffin and fruit. Food arrived pretty quickly, exactly as ordered and very tasty. Outside isn't much to look at; inside is pleasant enough. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and warm. Food is the main reason I would return, followed by service. This looks like a little diner from the looks of it but man, their food is BOMB!! Every single meal we ordered was sooooo good and perfectly cooked. Not sure if it's a locals place? This might be a hidden gem in this city. It looks like this is family-owned (as staff members have a striking resemblance). Customer service is top-notch. Prices are also affordable, which is a huge plus for a family of 4 like ours. We were supposed to have breakfast included in our hotel stay but unbeknownst to us and all those who booked there, they stopped serving food for the last year. I ordered the Denver Omelet and my wife ordered the Patty Melt. Both were excellent! I especially love their potatoes! My wife commented how moist and flavorful her patty melt was. The owner is very fun-loving and always is in a joyful and playful mood. We also like it here because it doesn't have a noisy environment. I'm kind of hard-of-hearing so that's an added plus. Ate here with my uncle and his partner - I finished my Verde Rancheros (Huevos Rancheros but with a pork/green chile instead of the red, very tasty), they took half of theirs (Italian omelet for him, biscuits and gravy + bacon for her) home. Half of my plate was red potato "home fries" - nicely seasoned, but underdone and not very appetizing. I nibbled a few and left the majority. For what I expected to be a crowded Sunday (Father's Day), the three of us were sat pretty quickly and the service was friendly and prompt. The space is larger than expected and every table was full. The menu is long with so many breakfast and lunch offerings. All 3 of us choose breakfast items and overall, the food is solid and tasty but none of us were wowed. I had the California Benedict and found the Englishmuffin under toasted and soggy. The hollandaise sauce was frothy and thin, and not as rich as I recall this type of sauce to be. Hubby has the chicken and waffle and he enjoyed it but did say the chicken was a bit dry. Our visiting friend liked the Huevos Ranchero but also wasn't wowed. Food was bad and greasy. Not sure how restaurants stay in business. I had breakfast burrito, potatoes were not cooked all the way thru, chorizo was dripping with grease. My husband had breakfast with sausage. Sausage tasted as if it was left out too long before cooking, so he didn't want to risk food poisoning. Waste of $50 dollars. The restaurant location looks like it could be out of a scene of a vintage Western movie. It is right next to a "roadside" hotel, with easy, convenient parking. The outdoor tables are clean and chairs are padded and comfy. They take covid seriously with a sign that says, "No Mask, No Service." If a company takes the pandemic seriously, I feel reassured that they take other germs seriously too! They have quite an extensive menu. They don't serve Lipton Tea like most roadside diners...instead, it's Stash brand, which is definitely a level up above Lipton. I can't believe how lightening fast their service is. In fact, it's quicker than Taco Bell or Chick-Fil-A. I'm afraid of overly greasy food, but the breakfast potatoes are roasted and clean, it's not smothered in oil! The crab cake Benedict was cooked to perfection: and they may actually serve real crab, gasp! The food is fresh and portions are clean and generous. I am actually blown away with the quick and friendly service, clean environment, and the very tasty breakfast food they serve here. My chilaquiles absolutely had no flavor. The beans didn't have much flavor either. I even put hot sauce on it, and it didn't help. But I was hungry, so I ate most of the chips. I left the beans. When we were seated, the server asked if we wanted any drinks. I hadn't looked at the menu because he came right after we seated, but I knew they had to have orange juice on the menu. So he came back with a large glass of it. I realized there were different sizes, that I wish he specified before taking down my order. And when I ordered the chilaquiles, he started listing meats, starting with the shrimp.. I told him no meat, and he still continued to list the options. The positives are that the portions are large, so in that sense you're getting your money's worth. And it's more affordable than other brunch places around it.
