The waitress was so sweet and checked in us often. We ordered a beer each and of course when at a brewery you order beer which was amazing. Also ordered the Popeye pizza which was garlic, cheese and spinach. So yummy, ordered a medium for the two of us. Had a wonderful view of the sunset as well. read more

Here we go!!! Out in the distant lands rolling hills and sunny lake vista at Scale House Brewery. LIve bluegrass today during the diner hour. Love the ambient red outdoor umbrellas and picnic table seating. nice bar and lots of tables indoors as well. Plenty of parking for a crowd or party. The beer is cold and the pizzas are loaded with fresh tasting toppings. grabbed the garden and a box to go of their hole made meatballs. Can't tell a lie I did take a bite. We visited Scale House a long time ago and were unimpressed. It is under new ownership and was a delight. The beer was fantastic and the pizza was on point! We made it over 2x during our Seneca Lake stay, and experienced wonderful service and fantastic staff all around. There is plenty of room inside, but they have the option of a patio facing the lake and live music some evenings. A great addition to the east side of the lake! read more

4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here. Skip to the end to see my rating scale. First time at Scale House but not our first trip to the FLX. There are a few really good breweries in the area and Scale House is right up there with them. If you've read any of my other brewery reviews, you know my top three considerations are outdoor seating (meaning it's dog friendly), convenient food choices, and of course the quality of the beer. They have a spacious covered deck and a great lawn area, so their outdoor seating is excellent. They have an outdoor stage and we were fortunate to get to see some of the local talent performing the afternoon we were there. The inside area is also pretty roomy for a brewery and has more of the industrial/earthy feel that I dig, rather than a contemporary vibe. They also have a built-in pizza shop and it appears as though many patrons go there as much for the pizza as the beer. My one regret from our trip is that I didn't take advantage of the opportunity to grab a pie there...it looked fantastic. Top it all off with a solid beer selection and Scale House is definitely a place that I'd go a little out of my way to visit. I am going to try to talk my wife into heading back there...mostly to get a shot at trying a Meat Special. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here read more

Rude and hostile manager. Disorganized lines getting food. I actually felt unsafe for a moment. Will never visit again. I was absolutely not yelling at anyone. My husband wasn't even in there at that point. I was alone and politely ordering from the waiter when a "local" man came up behind me and started confronting me. I was literally just done adding a tip to the bill when the man came up behind me. When I told the manager he was harassing me, she basically smiled. I get that my husband could have complained about the chaotic lines in a nicer manner but I didn't yell at anyone. And the manager let a strange man confront me when I was simply ordering and paying. He was basically a bully who waited until I was by myself. And the manager clearly knew him and was fine with his behavior. They "stepped in" to me, who hadn't even yelled when I was alone and paying/leaving tip. Like I said, a bully. read more

If you haven't tried the Popeye pizza, do yourself a favor and order one immediately! This is one of my favorite pizzas ever. It's also just as delicious the next day. I'm a vegetarian, but the rest of my family isn't and they also all love the meatballs. The service is fine. Friendly enough. The ambiance is also fine. First noticed this place as I was passing it, and after a brief pause, I decided to turn around and try it, because they have a deck for eating with a view of Seneca Lake. First came my G3O IPA beer, followed by the Popeye pizza, a garlic pizza with spinach and Feta cheese. I usually have garlic pizza made with mozzarella cheese, but Feta was actually a very tasty change of pace. I have been living in Hector part time for years, yet I have never checked this place out. Went tonight by myself and had a wonderful time. It's the place where tourists and locals truly mix. They have a lawn area for self serve, which means you can order your drinks in plastic cups, to go cans, and food to go, then enjoy them at the picnic tables they have out there. It's also in front t of the stage, so locals bring their own chairs and hang out, dance, and enjoy. Inside the restaurant they have deck that you can sit out side, listen to the band and have a beautiful view of Se wca lake. Inside they have your typical tables and bar. The ambiance is super cool. It set up for socializing. As I mentioned earlier, I went alone and I was jabbering the entire time with staff and other locals. I felt completely comfortable walking in by myself. The staff was awesome, friendly, funny, and attentive. The parking gets pretty jammed when a band is playing, I was glad I showed up an hour before they started, when I left people were waiting in their cars for people to leave, and parking is pretty extensive so it was surprising. I ordered a beer flight, for 12.00 you get to order 4 of their craft beers. It's a great way to figure out what you like. I have to admit, the alcohol content was pretty high in some of the beers. The flights are 3oz each. I had a small buzz when I finished. Thank goodness they provided lots of water to cleanse your palate. I ended up settling on the cream ale. But only had one, to go with my Ouchy pizza. Which is an awesome small pepperoni pizza with hot honey drizzled on it. It was mouth watering delicious. There was a ton of spicy pepperoni on it. The dough on the pizza was one of the best I've ever had. Nice and thin in the center and puffy and crispy on the outside. They had an interesting looking pizza with pickles on it. December in the finger lakes mean less food options and earlier dinners. We were lucky that scale house was open and also 5 min from where we were staying! The pizza was delish! The crust was perfection, so chewy. They did not skimp on the toppings. I loved "the ouchy"- a hot honey pepperoni pizza and my husband liked the Alabama hot chicken and pickles. We were seated quickly and the service was quick and friendly. Refills were offered frequently. The pizza is good, not great but good. We had the chicken bbq and a half cheese, half pepperoni. Beer and Food are top notch. it was a nice place to visit after visiting a winery and have some very comfortable food with a local beer. The space is open and the very inviting. The service is excellent the food comes fast and while not Avantgarde it is completely solid and very much matching the general them of the brewery and bar. Although I do have to say that Chicken Wing Pizza and BBQ Chicken and Bacon pizza were a total hit with kids. Service is friendly but not intrusive, like in a lot of similar places I've been. Overall I want to visit it in the summer. I think a concert at the stage with views of Seneca will do some wonders. read more

A fun brewery to head to for dinner! A lot of places close pretty early in the Finger Lakes, but luckily most breweries stayed open until around 8PM or so. We made our way to Scale House on a Friday night for dinner, and we were excited to see they had live music! Despite the limited options for food in the area and the music ongoing, we had no issues snagging a table outside. Service was pretty solid - checking in on us enough but not overbearingly so. I will comment that there were a ton of flies / bugs in the patio area (we had to cover up our food while in between bites), but that's no one's fault! Since it was a brewery, of course we needed to explore their beer options! We were pleased that they offered flights, especially since they have a ton of choices! My husband and I both opted for flights, him focusing more on their IPAs and me focusing more on the ales and sours. I particularly liked the kettle sour, but all my tasters hit the spot. My husband shared similar sentiments with his brews! For food, we started off with the meatball sliders which were fine - nothing too much to write home about, pretty standard fare. I liked the baguette that was paired with the meatballs, but the bread was kinda hearty and made for a difficult bite (wound up fork and knifing the dish instead). A lighter bread may have been better! We split the broccoli and feta pizza, which was nice, but again, not something I would rave about. The feta was a unique touch, and the broccoli added a nice crunch, but the pizza itself was pretty standard fare. It had a moderately thick crust that was enough to hold up all the goodies; I typically prefer thinner, but this worked for this pie. The meatball started and a small pizza was enough to feed my husband and I for dinner, and prices for everything were fairly reasonable given the portion size. Overall, Scale House was a fun spot for dinner in the Finger Lakes. Their beer was stronger than their food, but we did enjoy our pizza and meatballs overall. The live music on weekends is a great touch and made the experience more fun. I would recommend Scale House for anyone looking for a convenient dinner and a solid beer (if you tire of wine!) while visiting the Finger Lakes! read more

It's always busy and you might have to wait but their formula of pizza and beer (and the meatballs, salads, cannolis and other things) coupled with a great environment and friendly staff is worth it. It's a rustic yet utilitarian vibe and they sometimes have live music indoors during the colder months. In the warmer months they have seating outside and music. My husband and I each ordered a flight here- great trying the nice variety. . I LOVED THE hazy IPA & we both enjoyed the peanut butter stout, which we grabbed a 4 pack of to take home. It's true, the pizza is great, great sauce and dough, cooked perfectly. The beer selection has something for everyone, and the two we tried were excellent. There was a Neil Young tribute act playing there when we went, and he was pretty good. The seating is a tiny bit awkward if you don't get a booth, and service was decent considering the popularity. We heard great things about this place from the locals so four of us decided to give it a try. It was super busy on a very hot Wednesday evening. There isn't much seating inside, but they have a deck with picnic tables outside and since they were in the middle of a heat wave, it wasn't hard to find an outside place to sit! We live nearby and get food here almost weekly. They have the best pizza around! I like the vegetable pizza (with no spinach) and my partner builds his own with cup and char pepperoni and basil. I also think they do the best Caesar salad on Seneca Lake, and I can almost never pass up their cannolis!!! We enjoy their wine and beer selection too. If I could provide any constructive criticism it's that the garlic on the white pizzas needs to be cooked longer. I love their white pizza but I stopped ordering it because of this.
