My husband and I went here on a Saturday evening and really enjoyed it. It was a great neighborhood vibe and a decent sized restaurant good for a date but would also consider going with a group of friends. We ordered a pasta and the hot honey pizza. Both were delicious and I felt a very fair amount of food for the price. The real surprise is the house wines for $7 a glass and then you could also do BYOB for only a $10 corkage fee- which in Dallas that seems amazing to me! I would definitely come back and if you're in the neighborhood I'd say it's worth checking out! read more

I came here on 11.06.24 with some work buddies on their recommendations for pizza. The vibe is updated old school, and the service was top-notch right out of the gate. I opted for the small pizza (12-inch) that I custom ordered (see picture) with a side salad starter. The salad was delicious and generously dressed with their house dressing, which was like a Greek vinaigrette. My pizza was epic. It came out directly on a tray, which was pretty cool. Despite the real estate it covered, it had a super thin crust, so I didn't feel TOO guilty about destroying it. The sauce was tasty and balanced perfectly with the cheese. My pie was so heavily topped that it presented a challenge in eating it. The toppings were fresh and delicious, and I love a place that isn't stingy with their olives. For the total experience, I would come back. Maybe a lunch portion pizza would be better next time, but for my maiden voyage here, I left very happy. read more

Scalini's has good service. Their food is consistent and have tried many entrees on their menu. The complaint I have is they use too much salt. For example, the Chicken Marsala sauce is so salty I had to remove the sauce off the chicken. The chicken itself was very good. I don't know why restaurants have to use so much salt. read more

This is a great, well priced, casual Italian local spot. Dinner is very affordable and comes with a salad and garlic bread while offering a very wide selection of classic dishes. Back today for lunch with family - all dishes GREAT and large serving - pesto chicken pasta absolutely to die for - so rich and creamy. Second dish was meat sauce and spaghetti - my husband says one of the best red sauces he's had - personal FAV. Table bread was warm and fresh along with house salads. Happy hour is all day every day with $6 house wine (there is no happy hour because the prices are already exceptional)! My friends got a large pizza and I ordered the Combination pasta which includes spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and ravioli. Everything was so good. The portions are huge! I want to leave a great review because they are our neighborhood restaurant but they are TERRRRRRIBLE!!!!! I ordered pizza 2 hours ago for delivery for 6 starving children and I finally called to learn our pizzas were not even made and they were having trouble with delivery yet no one had decency to call or tell us. Have some respect and own up to mistakes so we couldve figured out another way to feed small toddlers. They told us it would be delivered in 45 minutes. This happened more than once to us and I feel will always happen. A coworker ordered a cheese pizza when we we're working in the area. It was actually pretty good, why I decided to bring the family to the establishment. Located in a shopping center in Lakewood Hills area. Small place with a bar as well, we ordered a pepperoni pizza and my daughter ordered some pasta. Dined here 4/14/25 for lunch with a friend. I went with the chicken scallopini which was the best I ever had. Big portion of perfectly cooked chicken covered in just enough capers, artichokes and mushrooms. The lemon, butter wine sauce was perfect- not too thick. Lovely side salad with Greek like dressing. Fettuccine alfredo came broken and clumpy, sitting in piles of grease. Takeout can be a gamble, but there is no way it should look like this when picked up immediately and driven less than 10 minutes. Really, really gross. A call to let the restaurant know resulted in a curt "ok" - no apology or even a hollow attempt to make it right. We go to Scalini's often and are never disappointed. The food is prepared with fresh authentic ingredients and is consistently good. The staff is friendly and attentive, and their pizza can't be beat. Their salmon and salads are excellent. Family dinner on Friday night at Scalini's ...our favorite place let us down...normally a 5 star experience went south when our food took a very long time to arrive at our table...the waitress said the kitchen was backed up...our order was 2 plates of pasta and 2 sides of pasta for my boys...when the food finally arrived only 2 plates were served and then the other 2 dishes came at least 10 minutes later...once we were able to eat together...we finished eating and I got up to ask for a sack for our to-go packages...I noticed our waitress was on her cell phone...perhaps the reason our food took so long!!! I then put the Styrofoam containers in the paper sack. The containers did not fit in the sack at all...Note: Whoever is in charge of the to go packaging needs to rethink this process... Props to their crust, thin and crunchy without a huge worry if these feel or taste a little on the burnt side. Excellent service, food not so much. The cream of mushroom soup of the day was foamy and incredibly salty. We ordered Penne & Shrimp Romano which was a tad bit too salty as well but still good, and this Italian sausage dish that for some reason tasted something of black licorice . The salad was nice, but we were never given our complimentary garlic bread. Maybe one day we'll try Scalini's again and order something else. read more

I have visited Scalini's before and had great experiences. Sadly, tonight was not one of those. Soon after we sat down, we noticed no one at the tables around us had any food. Thought maybe it was just coincidence. Only after we ordered did our server mention that all of their grill staff was new and the kitchen was backed up. At that point we'd already ordered so we figured we'd stick around. After 45 minutes, with our salads long gone, they finally brought out the first of our table's food - my son's pizza. He was finished before any of the rest of us saw our orders - and he's a slow eater. My chicken piccata was borderline inedible. The chicken was tough and the sauce was so salty and sour I could hardly handle it. I ate what I could but left most of it. I'm hoping this was just an off night. We did get apologies from our server but nothing else. We simply paid and left - it certainly wasn't our server's fault, so we appreciated that he was apologizing. I doubt I will be ordering from this place again. I ordered a large pizza that was very very late for delivery getting to me. I had to call the restaurant four times to see where my pizza was the person that answered the phone told me that it was out for delivery and it was 45 minutes late. I called back again after that time and said I would like a refund on my money and somehow before the pizza got to my door it eventually got to my door after I called about the refund. I don't know what went on with this delivery, but they told me on the phone that they had more than one delivery to do that evening. they still have not offended my money yet for this purchase the pizza was OK itself.
