    Meat Supreme - Small

My partners favorite local pizza place. This spot is close to the house. First of all it looks like an old time Italian place, which is pretty much awesome. You walk in and the lights are low and mini jukeboxes at each booth. Little red candles at each table. They have a few rooms here you can rent for functions. The hostess was very polite and friendly also seated us really quick. We didn't sit long before we were greeted by the waitress. We had another event we are headed to and told her our time concerns and she said no worries. My partner ordered her favorite toasted ravioli's and wow the sauce was delicious and ravioli's knocked it out the park ! She order her custom pizza and I had the meat lovers. Her pizza was just how she likes it and delicious, mine was probably the best I ever had except for some pizza I had in NYC. This place is super family friendly and the food is amazing! If you ever wondered about this place , just come on in and you won't be disappointed!

I haven't been here is 25 years due to moving away and was excited to see this location was still open! The food - absolutely delicious! Still the best! They obviously expanded and we felt it in the experience. It felt rushed despite it not being busy at all. I guess things do change.

This is such a cool place with interesting history and good food! The storefront may not look special (aside from the "Egyptian" sign), but the inside has a nice classic pizerria atmosphere. The staff was super nice and attentive. The bruschetta was some of the best I've ever had! My partner and I devoured a chicken spinach alfredo pizza and we would do it again, it was great! I'm very happy that ai checked out this little peice of Dallas history!

----- Critics Review ----- The last 3 times here over 4 years has been horrible. Failed again tonight. I was with a friend from high school who was in town and he wanted to go to the Mockingbird location because that was the only one in the 70s-80s. My head sank because the Lovers Lane location is perfect!!! I told the waitress specifically, "an all the way pizza, minus mushrooms, triple garlic and extra crispy - so the toppings are toasted. I do not want the toppings in the center like you normally do - I want all toppings to the edge of the crust." Ugh, again - a total failure. Look at the photo! Toppings only in the center. The outer 2 inches is only cheese and garlic. You can barely see any salami or Italian sausage anc onions are everywhere. Almost under cooked - no where close to crispy! (A machine could do better!!) Of course being with my friend I could not complain. So I went to my normal location (Lovers Lane), showed the manager (Derick) the pizza Mockingbird gave me. He knows me and what I like (as does 1/2 of the staff!) He was equally appalled. I ask him to take a photo and send it to the Mockingbird manager and share my story. And throw it in the trash! I choked down 2 baby slices only to be tell my friend I has a late lunch as was full. (Mockingbird - I'LL NEVER GO BACK - EVEN IF YOU OFFER FREE FOOD FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!) Of course Derick offered to make me a replacement pizza - and I refused twice. But when he added a free bourbon and coke... I broke down and said ok - but only a small. (See 2nd photo - a perfect pie!!) Lesson learned. From now on, every friend who pops in town and wants to go to Mockingbird - I will tell them of my last 4 experiences and how Lovers Lane is the VIP place to go! Screw the atmosphere and nostalgia of Mockingbird!!! Avoid Mockingbird at all costs!!! Order Dominos instead (or better - eat in or do a pick up at Lovers Lane!!)

I'd heard great things about this restaurant, especially that it has an old fashioned Italian restaurant aesthetic. As soon as I saw the red padded door at the entrance, I knew I was going to step into a time machine. Sure enough, I walked into a DARK restaurant with red decor. I was charmed! Since it was crowded in the restaurant at the time, it was pretty loud. We stood at the host's stand for a while before a staff member seated us. Our waiter seemed stretched thin. He did his best, but he had to tend to so many different tables. I had to ask another waiter for silverware & napkins. However, our waiter did check in and made sure we had what we needed. The food was okay. The dinner salad was way over dressed, the bread was hard and my Marsala bland. The portion sizes are enormous, so you will not leave hungry. Overall, Campisi's was a great experience while visiting Dallas, but probably not a place I'd return to.

Since this place already has so many reviews, I'm going to just hit the high spots: I have been to the Mockingbird location 5 or 6 times in the past three months. Service has always been very good. If you're not familiar with the pork chop, you're missing out. I almost hate to recommend it as I consider it a solid value for the price and you won't go hungry. It comes with the house salad which I love, and garlic wilted spinach which is awesome. Sometimes with a larger party we get a small Italian sausage and black olive with jalapeno pizza as an appetizer and I love the thin crust! Delicious! Atmosphere in the central dining room with the bar and the Club room are both awesome, vintage Campisi's vibe. The big room to the left is ok, sort of a lite version of the other rooms. Glad it's there for when they are busy as it cuts down on wait time to have so many more tables.

The food and service was really good which made me happy although I do have to say the prices were a bit High, they do have lunch pricing which made it a little bit more palatable. All in all I enjoyed myself and like I said the food was good so I was happy when I left. If I was going to make a complaint it would be that all the menus we were handed were dirty. Which isn't too big of a deal I guess but the reason they were probably dirty is because it was so dark in the restaurant that the waitresses probably couldn't see that they were dirty. Now it being dark isn't necessarily a complaint, it's just not my personal preference. All in all it was a good experience and I plan on taking my in-laws there next time they visit *Poor *Decent *Ok *Good *Great *Best *JLFoodie Certified Prices. Decent Food. Great Service. Good Cleanliness. ok Consistency. Good Variety. Great Value. Good

We shared a Margherita pizza that was perfectly made. I ate a meatball appetizer which could have served as a full meal, and it was delicious. The food is always to my liking. I eat at the Mockingbird location when I'm catching a movie at the Angelika at Mockingbird Station. The atmosphere is much like an old speakeasy, dark and quiet. We'll be back.

We were in the area and it was around dinner time so we decided to check this place out. We had been to other locations but the ambience and history of this location had us intrigued. It did not disappoint. It was like stepping back in time. the decor and booths where straight from the 50s (LOVED IT!) place was packed on a Saturday evening around 5:15. (we joined the wait list while in route via yelp app!) We got seated on arrival and ordered a house wine. (It was delish!) We each got a plate with a salad and bread. The portions where large so we had leftovers. Staff was very nice and professional. ( the ONLY issue was it was so dark inside LOL took a while for eyes to adjust!) Add it to the love list

Best Italian food in DFW! My parents introduced me to this historic restaurant in 1962. I've been a loyal patron ever since! The legacy of Joe and Marie Campisi continues. They were lovely people who made you feel like one of the family. Tonight my family dined in the famous circular booth in the corner. The dark and romantic atmosphere is unparalleled. Service was outstanding and every detail was perfect. The drinks from the bar were well prepared. The appetizers were hot and fresh. Don't forget Joe's Special Garlic Toast. The Italian Crab Claws are to die for. Main dishes ordered were the lasagna, eggplant Parmigiana, and the " All the way Pizza". The salads were fresh and crisp. If you want authentic Italian cuisine and decor, look no further.

(just a fun fact) They seem pretty proud of that fact too, considering there's now a giant cowboy hat sculpture, "The Big Hat," right across the street. It's impossible to miss. Anyway, we weren't there for hats. We were there for pizza. First, a public service announcement. Figure out what you want before you walk in because the menu is only available through a QR code, and it is awful. You scroll. Then you scroll some more. Then somehow you're still scrolling. It feels less like ordering dinner and more like reading the terms and conditions for a mortgage. The two of us ordered a large pepperoni pizza, which turned out to be ambitious. We ate leftovers for days. Next time I'd definitely order the smaller size. My only real complaint about the pizza itself was the pepperoni. There was just TOO MUCH of it. Sure, I could have asked for "light pepperoni", but then I'd be paying full price for less topping, and that just goes against my personal philosophy. I'd love to see a "light pepperoni" option priced accordingly. ALSO not it is the good and greasy cupping pepperoni, kinda spicy. The pizza was also a little unevenly prepared. About half had a thicker crust while the other half was noticeably thinner. I definitely preferred the thinner side. Service was perfectly fine, the bathrooms were clean and nice, and the pizza was good overall. Just be prepared for the QR code marathon before you get to enjoy it.

Our standard order is a large three topping with pepperoni, real Italian sausage and onions. You've got to try onions as that touch of sweet helps with all the savory flavors. We always include a side salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing for a small charge $2.55! You've can also purchase their homemade salad dressings by the pint or quart. The pizza takes a minute to get made so the salad calms our appetite. I swear it's cheaper to get a glass of their house wine than to get a glass of tea so don't hesitate to order. This place is a definite bargain on many items. Now the pizza is just spectacular. The Italian sausage is the real thing that has been sliced from the links not the sausage "turds" you get with fast food pizza. The crust is perfectly yeasty and the thickness on the medium side. They also serve on a rack at the table to keep the crust fresh. Since we order a large it is a knife and fork pizza with the heavy cheese and toppings. Another favorite dish is their lasagna. I've lost count how many times I've ordered at the restaurant and to go. It comes with a choice of salad or minestrone soup. The soup is homemade and simply the best warming dish - a hug in a bowl loaded with veggies. Service is always friendly. The murals of Italian scenes and the wine bottles hanging from the ceiling add a fun touch. Just don't forget to try the pizza and you won't have regrets. We were lead to a large half moon shaped booth nestled in the corner; which was large and plush. Plenty of room for us four and honestly at least two more people. On our table was a place card that said Happy Birthday to my partner which was a nice touch. Our waitress arrived and very pleasant and helpful. She asked if we had questions and gave us some highlights of the menu. We ordered another round along with Meatballs Troubadour, the Heavenly Sourdough and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. The Heavenly Sourdough and Meatballs Troubadour were absolutely the stars of the show! The meatballs were flavorful and juicy. The marinara sauce paired wonderfully with the sourdough. For entrees, Dry-Aged Delmonico, Pomme Puree, Crispy Brussels, Honey Truffle Chicken and Whole Lobster Spaghetti. All the food was divine!
