So, I have a previous review or two raving about Scampi Grill. We invited neighbors to join us last night, but sadly it was a disappointing dinner. We started with fried calamari, which was cooked well, but the sauce was not up to par, being somewhat bland. For dinner, we ordered two veal Pizzaiola, one chicken Francese and one seafood special. The veal was good, tender and prepared correctly, but again, the sauce was bland. These dishes came with pasta, but the amount of pasta was unacceptable. A couple of spoonfuls and that was it. Same with the Francese, a spoonful of pasta. My neighbor was unimpressed with his Long Island Iced Tea and his seafood special. So disappointing after many visits here. Season is over, so maybe a crew change??? We sat on the covered patio, which was quite nice. Cannoli and Tiramisu were both good, as was service from Larissa. My opinion is for $400, they need some serious improvement to keep us coming. read more

Went for early seating when premium specialty drinks are one half price - try the Italian Old Fashioned very special - Then ordered the veal Francese - Lemon wine sauce with angel hair pasta. Was best veal I have ever had - Truly a fine dish - with large portion of the delicious veal. One of best restaurants in Vero - highly recommended - need reservations as locals are regulars. We came to Vero to visit friends and wanted to go out to a nice place so we tried the Scampi Grill. We had a reservation and were seated promptly where things turned bad. Our waitress came and took our order and simply disappeared. No - how's the meal, do you need more water....... So we flagged others down for any help we may have needed. We ordered the pasta bolognese and it was so dry and tacky. We tried there meatball appetizer and they were dry and overcooked. About the only thing good that night was the garlic bread. The place is so overpriced $$$... considering the service provided. So our waitress finally materialized and asked if we were taking home food as she didn't even no they cleared our plates and we were looking for the check. I rarely give 5stars for a review but this place truly deserves it. I've not had a disappointing dish yet and this is my ABSOLUTE favorite restaurant in Vero. I recommend reservations, which they do accept, as this place is always busy ! Indoor seating makes for a nice intimate date night but they do offer a comfortable outdoor patio area as well. We like to eat early which coincides with their happy hour between 4:30 and 5:30. Their Sangria is very popular and is included in happy hour pricing. They also offer a very nice Vermentino by the glass which paired nicely with my fresh fish. We started with the Ahi appetizer which was accompanied by a nice salad with a tasty home made dressing. Our server, Dave, provided us with several fresh fish options which, by description, made it hard to elect the best choice they all sounded amazing. Tonight, I chose the triple tail which did NOT disappoint! In fact the serving size could have easily fed two. They do charge for a split plate however. Hubby had the Beet salad to start then, their lasagna which is made with wild boar... Yum! Great dessert menu as well! Service is well paced, and they provide just the right amount of attention without hovering. As busy as they are, we never felt rushed. Wonderful evening for family dinner, early in 4:45pm enjoying unexpected Happy Hour Saturday evening to kick off the night. Lovely Blood Orange Martini's with ample and delicious charcuterie board as well as giant stuffed portobello mushroom not to be missed. All of our dinners were divine from seafood to veal to tile fish and beyond. Our waitress Hope is a shining star! Had meatballs and artichokes as appetizers. Meatballs very flavorful and tender, artichokes were tender and loved lemon, garlic butter sauce. Had beet and gost cheese salad with apples it was great to freshen palate and light. I had mushroom ravoli with basil cream sauce. I finished my plate about 12 ravoli it was that good. Scampi Grill is an Italian spot in Vero Beach catered to the pricier side/higher class. I believe there are plenty of other good Italian food in Vero Beach, but because this place was vouched by my coworker we ended up landing here. Walking inside, it was a very cozy dining experience. They also had outdoor seating, but since we came on a pretty brisk/chilly night we sat inside. The design of the inside was interesting, tons of wine racks everywhere with empty wine bottles? I thought it was an interesting design thinking it would have been more impressive if those wine bottles were actually full. On second thought though, it probably wouldn't work since they were all next to seating areas. Onto the food! This is what I ordered: For apps: Calamari Fradiavolo Entrée: Penne Bolognese Dessert: Tiramisu All three dishes were nothing special. I did enjoy all of the dishes though, it was well cooked and they were well seasoned. I enjoyed the bolognese and thought that the amount of meat was good as well as the pasta was great vehicles for scooping up that soup and just mixed really well. The tiramisu caught my eye when it came to the dessert menu and I have to say it wasn't too bad! I wish there was more of the coffee flavor that comes through, but I couldn't complain. It was a solid dessert, one that I always fall for. Overall, I thought Scampi Grill was a solid Italian spot for Vero Beach. I wouldn't say that it was the best Italian that I ever had, but for the area I would have to say that it wasn't bad and that I could see myself coming back here. I'm not big for carbs, so when it comes to Italian food (which is just tons of carbs) I"m not the biggest fan. I do say though, if you decide to dine here it seemed like whatever meal that you choose it'll satisfy. read more

My first impression was the slippery wood look ceramic tile floors. Im not sure of the specs of the tile re slip resistance but they were slippery. I used to be in the tile industry and I think it just might be slippery because of how they clean it or what they are cleaning with. I worry as the average age is ... well, you know.. it's vero. I'm happy we went there though for our first time tonight. Hope, the server, was very friendly and thorough. I felt like the extended area was a nice add on even tho a few little bugs came around on plates due to being somewhat outside, but it was well covered overhead. The food was very good. We will definitely go back there for another dinner. Other meals being walked by were all looking delicious as well. read more

1st let me say this is my husband's Favorite restaurant so much so I made reservations MONTHS ago for his birthday 12/24. I know its a busy place so I talked with the manager to make SURE we had a table for Christmas eve dinner for 2. I called this evening to mark sure all was good and if I could bring a special cake for his birthday. Well to my surprise there is NO reservation. I told the girl who answered the phone i watched him put in a note as it was such a long way out. She checked and checked again, but NOPE we are $#!+ out of luck. She said she would have the manager call to discuss. Its the next day, I'm guessing we're not getting a call. Very disappointed with the way we were dismissed and no apology or an attempt to remedy the issue. They have lost me as a patron. read more

First time visiting Scampi Grill. It was absolutely delicious. The fish was all so fresh and yummy. I had the shrimp capri over risotto. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the risotto was nice and creamy. My husband had a seafood special which had mussels, clams and calamari. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Sadly, this is a bad review. Three friends and I had dinner at this restaurant the week of March 1. One of our drink orders was wrong, the kitchen only had one mahi mahi order and one friend needed to substitute. The waiter recommended another fish. When our orders arrived, all were submerged in a rich melange of unrecognizable ingredients. When the bill came we saw there was an upcharge of $16 for the fish the waiter recommended. No one ate more than half their food as it was borderline inedible. There is an up charge for naming a vodka. Undisclosed. Make sure you take NOTHING for granted if you go here. The scampi grill is one of the top Italian Restaurants in Vero Beach. The food is outstanding and if the service matched the food, it would be a 5 star restaurant. I have been there multiple times so this rating is based on the totality of my experiences. If you get something exactly the way it is described in the menu, things go much better than If you ask for a slight accommodation. They will either say it can't be done or it will come out wrong. I've had some good servers there and I've had below average service there. Overall, I would say to give it a try. Most likely it will be enjoyable read more
