Upon entering the store, I found the place very organized and clean. I was greeted by Jane McElroy the salesperson. She followed me around the store and listened attentively as I checked out the items on my shopping list. Never at any time during my store visit was she just tried to make a sale. As a result, I felt at ease to look at the different designs at my own pace. On pickup day, I called the store and indicated I misplaced the receipt. Jane told me not to worry as she will print up a copy for me upon my arrival. I give her an excellent rating on customer service. I would hire her without hesitation if and when I need a salesperson. Ordered a couch and was given a lead time of 6-8 weeks due to the custom fabric choice. As we approached the 6th week we called to check on our order and were told or furniture was going to be delivered in a week. A week passed and no call so I called them again to check on my order and now I'm told it will be another 2 weeks. I was very livid with their response since I had timed this sectional for worst case scenario to be delivered in time for our guests as we just had a baby. I questioned why the long lead time and why we were told an earlier date. The response was no not known and the sales person tried to reach out the furniture representative but didn't hear back for 5 days. I came to find out that the buyer failed to place my order and held up my lead time longer than expected. I was only offered free delivery which is pretty insulting. No call from management or buyer, although an apology from the salesperson. There was no accountability taken for this order not being placed in a timely fashion. Now I have waited a total of 11 weeks for an order that should have taken a max 8 weeks. I got an email saying my couch will be delivered another week late, even though I had confirmation from the store that the furniture would be in to them on week 10 to schedule delivery. I'm really disappointed with how my order was handled. read more

If you want service with zero smiles ask for a salesman named Jack Hoj~ I was looking for a specific sofa. Without even checking his computer he told me that it will not be available until next year. When I told them that it was available online he immediately changed his story and said there's one in stock. I followed up by asking if they had a specific cushion in stock. As to quality, I would have to admit some level of disappointment, both in terms of flaws in the wood surface of the table, and the upholstery on the chairs. My lower star rating is a result of their delivery and not on the store or their products. I purchased a bedroom set plus a home office cabinet. The sales rep was helpful and easy to work with, bought them 'on sale' over memorial day but one of the bedroom pieces was back ordered so I just received delivery this past week. Although the prices are still high even at their 'sale' prices, we liked the bedroom set so decided to go with it, especially since we had old Plummer's furniture that lasted for us for many years. The problem is that the delivery company they use, at least one of the guys who came to deliver and install, was just horrible. 1) He was rude, wouldn't answer you sometimes when you ask him a question, and was very rushed, acting like he just wanted to get out of here and was pissed off the whole time he was here. I tried to be friendly with him but he would just brush me off and just ignore me. One time I asked him a question and I didn't understand his answer, he started yelling at me. I almost threw him out of the house but decided I'd just let them finish, and I'll call the store to complain. His name was Miguel. 2) They left a huge mess in the house after they finished and left. They left pieces of styrofoam all over the master bedroom in addition to all the dust from the boxes. Maybe that's how furniture delivery people work these days? I know when I hire a contractor, I expect them to at least pick up after themselves and leave it reasonably clean. I hope Scandanavian Designs reconsiders what company they use for delivery because this puts a very negative light on the whole purchase experience. I'm going to think a lot harder before I buy from them again or to recommend them to friends. read more

Already loved this store but have yet to make a decision and purchase. Yesterday I called for assistance on how to clean my very expensive dining chair cushions modified my by 8 year old niece who used them as napkins Glad I did because I would have ruined them. An associate named CURTIS helped me, took the time to look up the proper care for my unusual fabric. Curtis was so professional, helpful and really took the time to address all my concerns. The furniture was beautiful so I will give them that but the rest of this review was based on customer service before and after. When I went in to purchase everything literally not one sales rep approached us or even smiled at us. We had to go ask for help after almost 45 min of shopping without any greetings and finally got someone to help us (4 sales reps were just sitting at a station not busy at all). After we received our order we decided unfortunately one of the items didn't work and needed to return it, my husband arrived 5 min early on a weekend to return them and again received even worse customer service. The girl at the front approached my husband and asked him what time it was because they don't open till 11... it was 10:55am and she said very rudely that it was too early to help him and took her time coming back 5 min later to talk with him. Once she returned to speak with him she said we don't even do returns up here you need to go back outside... so he does, gets a slip of paper and returns to her for the refund. At this time apparently they refunded our entire order and was followed up with the next 3 days with non stop calls to get their money back. At this time I returned their calls and gave them our credit card info, just funny how the only time they paid any attention to us was when they needed their money. Overall I would recommend their products but expect very poor customer service throughout the whole process. read more

The leather sectional sofa and round marble table I purchased are absolutely beautiful, well constructed with quality materials and competitively priced. Their showroom in Irvine is well stocked with a wide assortment of items but there is plenty of space to stroll through and view the furniture. My furniture arrived on time, was placed, assembled and tested for functionality by their efficient, professional delivery team, and all for a very reasonable fee. We love the designs of the furnitures and purchased 3 large furnitures from them. The bad experience I had is the people who deliver the furnitures. First time they delivered a damaged table. The deliver guy offer to to take it back so I won't have to ship it on my own so I immediately said yes take it back. And the same day I went to the actual store to tell them what had happened. Then the sales person managed to help us to get a replacement of the table. Today is the date I expect the replacement come and the different delivery guy walked in to my house and with rude attitude and mean facial expression asking me where is the table!???? I was so confused and told him " I am expecting a shipping not a pick up" then I get confused thinking they don't have a table in the truck, so I asked them to tell me what is going on. Then the guy looked at me like he is about to yell at me or something.... Then I figured I need to tell him exactly what happened last time in details.. then I don't think he really understood me? He turned his head away and said "ok ok" and then he went out and brought out my table from the truck...................... I mean? what the heck? If you have my table, why did you say you are here to pick up my table??? I am so confused. This company needs to take care of this kind of unclear situation and hire someone with more of a nice attitude. I felt a bit uncomfortable dealing with two guys who were not very kind. I ordered a "meter" of leather to match the new Ekorness Stressless leather recliners that we purchased in March in order to have it on hand if we would ever need it and to use a piece to throw over the back of the "head rest" on both chairs to protect them instead of using a towel. Simple order, it came from Norway, so took a few weeks. Great experience. read more

I just bought a condo in Aliso Viejo. I asked my brother for his help in selecting furniture for my new place since I really like his taste in furniture . He could not stop talking about the selection and service at Scandinavian Design in Irvine as if he owned the place. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly staff. He introduced me to Steve, store manager, Peter and Brian who treated him like a family member and called him by his first name, I think I have a famous brother. I'm a big fan of this store as the prices are very reasonable. Their designs very closely mirror that of the ultra-high-end stores you sometimes see at the OC Mix Mart off the 405 Freeway (Designs Within Reach, etc) but at a fraction of the cost. Obviously the quality isn't going to be top notch, but they appear to be a lot better than the likes of Ikea or other knockoff online furniture retailers. I haven't actually purchased something from the store yet, but I've browsed several times. I did notice some of the finished (lacquer/veneer?) surfaces do sometimes chip so that worries me if I buy something that has a smooth finish. Check out their clearance section in the back too as there are significant savings. read more

Brian was suppose to come look at my mattress on a Saturday. He completely bailed on me and didn't even call to say he wouldn't make it. I called the manager and there was no apology. Just that they don't usually schedule these appointments on Saturday. Well, guess what? Brian did schedule it on Saturday and was a no-show. Hey, Brian, thanks for ruining my plans for Saturday because you decided to be a flake. I was made another appointment for a Thursday. Brian shows up. He's rude and unprofessional. Not once did he apologize for being a no-show. I asked him a few questions and he was so rude and extremely unhelpful. He says he's only doing what they told him to do. He did not go above and beyond in helping and he's on the clients side and doesn't want anyone to get a replacement mattress. I told him things that were wrong and he said what do you want me to do? If I'm telling you what's wrong, wouldn't you as the "experienced" employee know what you should take pictures of? Brian is truly a terrible person! I called the manager Finn at the LA location to talk to him about Brian while he was here, but he wasn't available. I was transferred to the warehouse manager. He knew absolutely nothing about my situation and was pretty useless. He talked to Brian on MY phone and Brian says here, take this number down. Gives the manager his number and says call me in 10 minutes and I'll tell you about this situation. Just the way he said it, was so wrong and rubbed me the wrong way. He was in my home, using my phone and is telling someone he's about to trash talk me. DO NOT shop here. Take your business elsewhere. Great European furniture at affordable prices and amazing customer service!! Over the years we have been buying most of our furniture at Plummers and we could not be happier. We furnished all three homes we bought in the past 15 years with furniture from Plummers - no matter the style, and we kept getting compliments on the furniture!!! Besides the great quality and nice design furniture, it is also refreshing to see that customer service has been getting even better through the years. We recently noticed that for a sofa and love seat we purchased from Plummers a few years ago, the veneer started peeling off a bit at edges. We called Steve D., the store manager, and he offered to replace the older moulding that was peeling off with the new kind of moulding which is solid wood, at no cost to us except installation. We worked directly with Brian, the warehouse manager, who kept us informed all along and provided us with updates. We could not think of better customer service. If I could push zero stars I would. Bought a sideboard and it was delivered damaged. Sent the item back and called the store to ensure that it would be inspected and be in showroom condition prior to delivery..second attempt at delivery I witnessed the unboxing on site and sure enough it was also damaged. Two deliveries were made and most importantly I had the pleasure of waiting around for both failed attempts. Decided to go for a third round and interrupted my plans after I was promised that the delivery would be made first thing Saturday morning. 10 am comes around and recieved a call stating that the plan we had in place wasnt followed thru. Scandinavian Designs is trying to be upscale but in reality it's a fancy Ikea..shop somewhere else.. read more

Although I am a Interior Designer, I really don't believe in paying outrageous prices for furniture unless it is a collector's piece like Eames, Le Corbusier, etc. I like changing out my furniture every so often so I really don't believe in paying an arm and a leg for something I will only keep for so long. This is why I like Plummers. Their furniture has clean lines and the prices are very reasonable. You can find European modern and also traditional designs so they do offer a broad variety of styles to choose from. The store is not as big as a Ikea store but it is nicely sectioned and easy to navigate. The quality is acceptable for most pieces and so are the prices. I recently purchased a console table for my foyer and I loved it! It was pretty easy to assemble and it looks way more than what I paid for. Their home office section is also great! I have furnished my entire home office with Plummers furniture and it still looks brand new even after 4 yrs of everyday use. If you are shopping for mid range furniture this is a great place to visit. They also carry decorative items, paintings, lamps, rugs etc. The customer service lacks a little warmth but nothing to complain about. read more

We went here to buy a bedroom set for our new house. There were maybe 2 other customers in the entire store. A lady employee approached us after we had been looking for about 15 minutes (and hadn't encountered a single other customer yet) and told us we need to leave because we didn't have a face mask on. She said it was the law (lol) and told us we needed to leave. If that is Scandinavian Designs' policy, then they need to post that on their website and in front of the store. We wasted 30 minutes driving here. Really weird to turn away thousands of dollars in business especially when this place is the size of a warehouse and there were 3 cars in the entire parking lot when we came. :/ Gave 2 star because now I can get the set from Crate & Barrel that I wanted (wife was wanting the scandinavian designs set) :) read more

They do have really nice furniture but most of the pieces are only available 2-6 months after order. It if you're looking for a specific size bed they won't have it at all. It's really tough to tell which pieces are in stock. I feel like I wasted half of my day oogling over pieces I couldn't have. read more
