This was the dirtiest Schlotzsky's I have ever seen. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, a bit before 2:00. The place was empty except for us. The first clue would have been the food pouring out of the trash. But we love their food so thought we'd risk it. Second clue was the guy behind the counter. His shirt was halfway tucked in and had food stains all over it. He spent as much time picking his fingernails as entering our order. Third clue to walk out was looking for a clean table. Out of all the empty tables in the place only one didn't have food crumbs on the table (but still had food crumbs on the bench) I saw another employee, presumably on his lunch break,'sitting at a table eating his food. During the time we placed our order and it was delivered no one was cleaning anything. These photos are when we were leaving. I was a fan! I have done the drive thru a few times but this was my first time in. The decor was nice and very "Austinish". The service was outstanding, especially for a fast-food restaurant. Every time I'm in Texas I seek out a Schlotzsky's! I've been eating them since they opened in Austin Texas decades ago. While the menu has expanded since then, the Original still hits the spot. Ordered on Yelp for pickup on Sunday at 7:00pm. Hours say that they are open until 9pm everyday. Folks were inside. Door was locked. I sat outside in the 98 degree Texas heat while irresponsible people laughed and joked. No one would answer the phone. No one would come to the door. This place and it's employees need serious customer service training. I got a refund, and my precious $$ is going elsewhere. read more

As we close out the day, our son's were in town and we needed to pick up something quick and we looked at different sandwich shops and the wife insisted we come here. Now I ate at a different Schkotzsky many years back and didn't think they were all that great then and still don't think much of them now. I can say when you enter, how clean the place is, but then again, when no one is coming in, it's easier to maintain. I ordered the Turkey Avocado and the wife had the flat bread. First the flat bead was anything but flat. It looked and tasted like a Target Pizza Hutt personal pan pizza. The flavor was ok but it was too doughy. My sandwich tasted ok, but the bread they used tasted old and a bit hard. The meat and avocado was fairly portioned but nothing to rave about as I have had better sandwiches from a supermarket. The sliced meat look like sliced meat from the supermarket tubs you can buy, sliced so thin it's almost transparent I can't tell you our son's reaction as we had to drop them off at the terminal right away. One of them ordered a Cinnabon desert and that looked both pretty good and dry as it had been made that morning and finally sold. Ugh, you really shouldn't have someone working the counter who does not speak or understand very much English. I knew when I tried to order from the young girl this afternoon that I was in trouble, and I was right. Got our order home and it was totally wrong. I come to this location all the time since it's by my house and I don't know if they are under knew management since 2019-2020, but this place is truly amazing. The store is always immaculate. And of course the food is always great which is why I come! I've never had issues with service ever. I wanted to write this review only because I had come to this location thinking they were open and they were closed. Not realizing it, I wrote a complaint on Schlotzsky's website and the next day Edgar the manager called me back, APOLOGIZED (even though it was my fault) and gave me a free meal. Let me tell you, I've had some major complaints with other restaurants and never received the type of generosity this team provides. Schlotzsky's on Main St in Grapevine, y'all are awesome!! I have come to this location 3xs a week for over 6 weeks (new job). I get a Southwest Chicken Salad each time. Every time, my order has been right - with the exception of last week. I go into the store sometimes because the drive through line is long. Last week, my order was completely wrong and I didn't realize it until I opened it, backed at the office. I asked for no corn or cheese on my salad and it came with only lettuce and tomato (not worth $10). I left a complaint on the website (I never leave bad feedback on public forums, without first giving the establishment an opportunity to correct the issue). Today, I came into the store because again, the drive through line was long. I made my same order. This time, the manager, Edgar I believe, approached me, called me by name and personally apologized for the error the week prior. He said he reviewed my complaint and knew it was me, because I make the same order each time. He refunded me as well. This personal service is what blew me away. The food is always good for being fast food. The fact that my complaint was handled in such a personal manner is incredible. Excellent management and customer service. This is what the service industry is all about. I will continue to support this establishment because if they ever mess up, they will personally take the time to correct the issue. Please consider bringing cash or a pre-paid Schlotzsky's gift card with you to pay for your food if you choose to come here (Store #1554). Yesterday evening at 5 pm, I came here as a walk-in to order some food and was told by the cashier that "The credit card reader isn't working, I'll need to run your card in the back" - I looked at the secure-chip reader on the counter and it appeared to be illuminated and operational. I didn't feel good about it, but I quickly swapped my debit card for my credit card with a much lower limit and handed it to him. He proceeded to take a minute and a half of alone time with it as a voice emanated from his phone - he told me that it was a webinar that he was attending without me prompting him with a question about it. I wasn't given a receipt until he handed me my food without one and I had to ask for one to be printed. I hung back for a minute and watched him interact with the next customer and he told him the same thing about the card reader, but that "Oh, you have a gift card, that should work fine on here". I wasn't sure if it was a Visa or Schlotzsky's card, but it seemed incongruous that the cashier would encourage using a partially operational device. Let's first address the sodium content of the sandwiches. Minor coronary. The sandwiches are not at all like I remember when Schlotzsky's first arrived on the scene. The drive thru felt slow considering the ingredients had likely been available at this location for many , many weeks ahead of my order. This is a typical Schlotzskys- excellent sandwiches served at a higher price point than Subway. They did have a nice tax day special- buy the chips and a drink and get a small original free! For the uninitiated a small original is usually big enough for most appetites. Unfortunately this location has always suffered from a complete lack of charisma when it comes to the staff. Yes, I have worked in restaurants before and I know that those jobs pretty much suck, but these folks are about as conversational as mannequins! This is not typical of the chain and reflects poorly on this store's management. Check out the store in Lewisville near the mall and you'll find a totally different atmosphere where customers are greeted with smiles and upbeat attitudes. I think some of the reviews on this place are comical. I've never once had bad service here. I frequent the drive thru a lot bc this place is right beside my office. Twice, I had someone scold me because I couldn't understand them and had to keep asking him to repeat what he was saying. But, the food is good and it is close to work. From the fresh baked round bread to the toppings and meat combinations, it's endless amounts of tasty. I prefer the rye bread and usually skip the chopped black olives. If you're not sure where to start the Original is a good sandwich to consider. It's close to an Italian with hap, genoa and cotto salami and a couple different melted cheeses. There are also homemade pizzas if you're not in the mood for a sandwich. This location is clean, the staff is friendly and efficient. I love the house brand chips- they have a less greasy texture and are super good- go for the jalepeno. This place is close to a lot of corporate offices and DFW so be prepared to wait during weekday lunch rush! There's a drive thru too! read more

This Schlotzsky's delivered just what I wanted, a great dependable sandwich in a hurry. Located south of HWY 114 on main street in Grapevine, I happened to stumble upon this location. I ordered a Turkey Avocado sandwich and it was delicious. The sandwich was ready quickly and I was eating in no time flat. The staff at the counter were efficient, but were only moderately friendly. The other issue was that the restaurant was freezing cold. I was not able to take my jacket off and really enjoy my sandwich. I stopped by in the way to the airport (it shouldn't have been on my way, but the road closings routed me over here). The person who made my sandwich must take pride in their work and it showed. My husband and daughter got FOOD POISONING sharing a LARGE Schlotzsky's Original. That is a serious claim to make but I wouldn't put this on a review unless I was 100% certain. In addition, upon calling the restaurant, I spoke to an employee who handled my call poorly/rudely ... she thought I just wanted a free meal. Not the case. Food poisoning is a very serious illness. My family missed work/wages. Wow... this was our 1st experience with food poisoning. I will never be back and yes, plan to share our experience on any social media I can. I visited the Schlotsky's in Grapevine, TX today and it was a surprising experience. I eat at a lot of "fast-food" type restaurants and was so impressed that each of the employees that I came into contact with were SO nice, polite, professional and courteous. Shelly took my order and promoted the Cinnabons (I had to decline because of my diet), but she definately did a good job of tempting me. Anna delivered my order and was very sweet and courteous. She even remembered to put napikins in the bag for me. On my way out Joshua told me to have a good day. Now, I don't normally notice the names of restaurant employees, but I couldn't help but turn around, go back to the manager and tell her how impressed I was with her staff. Myself and 2 other ladies had extremely hard bread...to the point where 2 of us only ate part of the bread and the other lady refused to eat the sandwich at all. They also sent the wrong chips. When one of my coworkers called to complain, she spoke with an assistant manager, Chirag, who was extremely rude and advised her that he was too busy working while she sat at her desk complaining.
