We don't have a Schlotzsky's in the Des Moines IA metro anymore... So whenever there is one within a reasonable distance we have to make the trip so my girlfriend can get her fix. We were staying in Lincoln NE but commuting back and forth between there and Omaha for a few days and on Sunday we hit this one before heading back to Des Moines. She always orders a turkey something... Honestly I'm not even sure exactly what it is and I really don't care. Subs or deli sandwiches really aren't my thing... But Schlotzsky's is probably her favorite! We hit the drive through in this location and were behind a couple of cars. She placed her order and I could tell from her smile they had done what they needed to do when they handed her the bag. I think it was the sheer weight... There are chains that you know when they hand you the bag if it's going to be a good day... You can tell if it's loaded...! Or did they skimp on your order? We pulled into a nearby parking spot in the lot... I already had my Runza waiting for me. She lifted the sandwich out of the bag and it dwarfed her hands. She looked at me and said... "Now that's a sandwich!" I could tell she enjoyed every bite. This Schlotzsky's is in a standalone building adjacent to a strip of businesses. It's easy to access and there is plenty of nearby parking. Service in the drive through was great and the sandwich she got was on point! Shes had ones that weren't from other locations... Dropped into Schlotzsky's just the other day to try one of their sandwiches. The sandwich was very good, but the inside of the restaurant was extremely dirty. The floor was sticky and the whole place looked like it hadn't been cleaned in about six months. The drive-through has been closed for at least eight months. I think the only reason they stay open is because the sandwiches are good. There wasn't a soul eating in the restaurant I wish it were cleaner. read more

10 years on I thought it was time to update my review, especially since I just ate there last week. The Saddle Creek location is gone now and I don't have much business in that area so getting to Schlotzsky's is a rare treat. I ordered my usual small original with extra cheese and it did not disappoint. It was a busy lunchtime, but the line moved quickly and the staff was friendly. Someone brings the order to your table but then you bus your own table. It's such a unique sandwich, there's no other like it. Planning to make a return trip next week! read more

One of the employees yelled at the girl about an order u hope he wasn't the manager, He walked around talking to someone on the phone he was very loud and yelling to the person on the other end. My yearly trek to satisfy my tastebuds with an Original and a Turkey original. The staff is always friendly and seem to always be working as well. It was a late lunch for me and several employees were busy cleaning the main dining area, stocking and frosting the cinnamon rolls. Ordered Schlotzsky's for our meal tonight. Our calzone had ZERO pepperoni on it and NO marinara. Every TIME they FORGET to put it in our order. My original sandwich is always ok because if they mess up their signature sandwich, the store is done! Only complaint on the sandwich is it is soggy by the time it gets here. Collected birthday sandwich at Schlotsky's. I had the deluxe original which was not shy on portion size. I miss the dark rye buns they used to have but still like the sourdough bun. I can see how this sandwich is not everybody's thing, but it works for me. The regular smoked turkey was OK per Trish. Ordering was difficult. One terminal was down, rewards were down, and it took three different cashiers/managers to figure out how to input the offer on my phone into the system. I admit I cringed when I saw my sandwich shop was linked to a cinnabon, but once you get past the smell of sugar they're still a capable Schlotzskys. I try to find these when I travel, since I grew up with them and they closed up in Chicagoland entirely I believe. Not as on point as the shops in Austin area, but it was a pretty good sandwich and the service was good. A crackhead or something came in for water and they let him have a cup, it went well, could have gone south quick - am I showing that I'm from Chicago? Overall a decent meal, about what I expected. read more

Drive through only due to COVID, which I appreciate any company protecting its workers!!!! Went at lunch time and it was not a bad wait in line. Great service from the person taking our order. I have been coming to this location for decades and I've always loved their sandwiches. I ordered from the drive-through and when I started to eat the sandwich, the meat was spoiled, tasted horrible, and I could not eat it.When I came inside and showed the manager, all he said to me was "we just received that meat this morning". He said nothing else. He did not offer me a replacement sandwich or a coupon. This is the worst it has ever been here at this location. I would recommend everyone stay away. Probably won't be dining in at this store again. The staff was friendly and the food was good, but the store is not very clean and set up poorly. There are boxes of chips stored in the main restaurant, a broom and dust pan hanging on the wall in the main dining room, and no privacy for the women's restroom, just a sign on the door that says please knock before you walk in on someone because there is no lock on the door and it's a single person restroom. read more

I wasted quite a bit of time sitting in a line for drive thru .The person in front of me drove off and when I pulled up and realized no one was manning the drive thru i understood why..I left after waiting for a while as no one assisted me. I eventually went in to order which went well but probably wasted about 25 minutes for the trip which did not work well for me. read more

I have been eating at Schlotzsky's on W. Center in Omaha for years. I've eaten there at all times of the day or evening, weekday and weekend. Eating there is more important now because they have great tasting gluten-free bread that they toast to a light brown. That makes the bread warm while veggies stay crisp and cool. The servers are friendly and careful with the order. The lobby is always neat and clean. And I love the music they play. read more

Stopped off for some sourdough goodness today for lunch. Had some nice company with my brother as we attended a toy/comic even earlier for some fun. This location on Center Street and the Scholtsky's on Saddle Creek at my usual goto's when I eat at this restaurant. I have not had an issue at either place and typically I usually end up leaving pretty happy. Today I got a small "original" sourdough sandwich. Usually I go for a medium size sandwich and leave too full. My small today was perfect with some cracked pepper chips and a sweet tea. They were busy today but quick and efficient over the lunch period. My food was warm and made just right. I also like to dowse my sandwich with the hot sauce they have there, but due to covid times, they don't have the bottles out but do have small packets to give you. I was thankful - as its a great hot sauce....and very close in taste to Red Devil (my fav). They periodically have trouble recruiting enough employees, which can affect service speed, attitude, and accuracy. Comparable nearby restaurants: Panera across the street, McAlister's 1/2 mile east, Subway 3/4 mile east. Many of their tables are wobbly, steadied only by piles of napkins under the legs. I had a few gift cards to Schlotzsky's that I had never used so I thought we would give them a try. I ordered their ham and Swiss and my wife had the original. I had forgotten how good their sandwiches are. The bread was warm and tasty and the meat was fresh. I enjoyed my whole experience there. If I had one suggestion, I would recommend that they have some meals deals versus everything being ala carte. Overall...well done. I hope to be back soon. read more

Food: 5 stars Service: 1 star quite possibly the best sandwiches and pizza I've ever had. can't go wrong with anything on the menu! however.... the service has been absolutely horrible the last about 10 times I've been here, within the last few years. takes a year and a half for food to come out; don't come here planning to "swing through" on your lunch break. most recently, as my family was waiting for our food (for over 30 minutes), a fight broke out amongst the employees in the kitchen. swear words were being thrown around, meanwhile the restaurant is packed and every customer is looking at one another like "what is going on?" the yelling ensued for a good 5 minutes, during which none of the 5 customers waiting for food were recognized, nor the customers waiting in line to order. Over all, seems like the management is pretty poor and just can not keep any staff around. food is delicious, but i can't imagine much food is being made while everything is going on. not sure if it's going to be worth the drive any more, or worth my time. read more

Usually it's amazing, but my mom, bf, and I stood here for 15 minutes before anyone came out just for them to say give them a minute. After another 5 to 10 minutes the finally took the first order. Then she walked off and my bf waited for another 10 minutes to order. They finally take it and get irritated when his card didn't work the first time. Then, the lady who took the order, yelled into the kitchen for another worker saying "name, get the f*** up here" infront of children as well. She didn't give my bf his chips right away and he went to fill up his drink, and the lady turned to him saying "your chips are right here" VERY rudely. I have been eating at Schlotzsky's for years! I do love their kids pizza, drink and cookie. I know I am now in my thirty's, but it is a great deal and pretty darn good! I have never eaten inside, so I can't speak to the atmosphere, but the drive thru is always quick and the pizza is always HOT. Like really hot. My favorite sandwich shop (original slaps) also their soup is amazing. Their pizzas also are on point. I live more than 68 miles away but when I'm in the area it is where I go to my fix of sandwiches I can't find anywhere else that compares! Horrible. 1) 7:30pm on a Saturday. Walked in and the tables are a mess, chairs scattered all over, and trash on floor. Also, half the lights weren't on - it was pretty dark in there. 2) Fuze teas had wayyyyyy too much sugar except for the sweet tea which had no sugar. Lemonade, no flavor - basically warm water. 3) I got a half turkey bacon sandwich and bowl of tomato basil soup. My husband witnessed them heat up the soup in the microwave- and it was still cold. The sandwich was clearly thrown together and the turkey was thin and slimey. 4) we could hear the staff yelling at each other back in the kitchen, some about complaining how late they'd have to stay and also a lot of questioning what type of meat they had in hand... "is this turkey or chicken?" We were mortified. Ate less than half of our food and left. Went to get dinner somewhere different. read more

I have to say although the food is pretty good. I normally get the caprese sandwich, I actually got two of them today. Now the rest of the story.... I think the place could use a little modernizing, it just hasn't kept up with times, just my opinion! I check out bathrooms in restaurants because this goes a long way in how they manage things. With that said the bathroom is often a mess, the door door often needs to be rattled to get it to lock. Vents through out need to be cleaned. The sandwiches are huge and not super expensive. The interior is a bit weird to me. I've eaten here a couple times and they usually made orderly. The jalapeño chips aren't spicy and taste like sour cream and onion. read more
