The online menu is grossly inaccurate. After ordering three sandwiches for Sunset Valley, I get a call from the store manager telling me two of my three sandwiches aren't sold at her location. Had I not heard the phone as I walked out the door, I would wasted a 20 minute round trip. Second, the store can't cancel the order they took for the items they don't have. I was told I'd have to use the app to cancel. but the app has no cancel feature. Third, the "Contact Us" email interface requires not just a complaint category, but a sub-category! How out of touch with human nature can customer service be? It also asks for a long list of identifying information, when the account you're writing from already has that information. So, since Schlotzky's doesn't have my stuff and can't cancel the order they don't have, I'll have to call them tomorrow. And I still haven't eaten. read more

I have enjoyed Schlotzsky's for about 30 years - it was an Austin original fast food deli. My experience at this Brodie location in Sunset Valley was really disappointing and embarrassing, because I had taken my Mom for lunch. First, it's remodeled and physically much more appealing, but we couldn't park in the handicapped spaces because the take out line was so long !? (Mom is 89). The new menu's were daunting - all Mom could see were calorie scores - prices and sandwich sizes were not obvious. And, the menu was way to busy (full of Cinnabon and TYB yogurt and other distractions). But, the worst was the actual sandwiches, which still have wonderful, but COLD bread, and hardly anything in the sandwich. This is particuluarly irritating when I realized we had spent $24 for two sandwiches and two medium drinks, and that didn't even include potato chips? The server could not figure out which order was mine and which was my mother's and which I questioned the SKIMPY - NOT DELI-LIKE amount of meat that didn't look much like a deli sandwich, let alone the double meat I paid for, I called the Manager out. He insisted I got the right amount of meat, so I'm DONE with Schlotzsky's. If I wanted a chichy sandwich, I would have gone to Subway and paid less, gotten more. Sad, sad, sad. Can't say this was a super great experience. I get in the drive-thru line to pick up my online order, and upon approaching the window was practically ordered "it's not ready, come inside!" I've done the food-service thing before, so I can be flexible and understanding, but being ordered to come inside was... irritating. At least offer an explanation. So I come inside, not very pleased but I'm not going to take it out on the teenage girl at the register. A guy comes up to explain that someone had taken my order, but that they're remaking it as fast as they can - he apologized too. If I had been told that at the window I would've been more understanding. Heck, even if I just was told to park in a spot and have them bring it out to me (which I saw them do for others as I was coming in) would have been better, but not originally giving me an explanation and being ordered that I come inside? The only saving grace of the experience was the kind employee who explained the situation and the delicious food. read more

I agree with Amanda M! I LOVE the food here. I have always had friendly service, and cannot remember ever having an order messed up in the drive-thru. "The Original" sandwich is still my favorite (ever since childhood). AND - BTW...have you tried the breakfast tacos? They are simple and quite frankly delicious. My first time here tonight. For thirteen bucks my son & I had a wrap, a panini, chips , three cookies & a large raspberry lemonade. The food was good, what I call a slightly healthier version of fast food. Tasty, fast & very pleasant service. I think at least five people there said have a good night as we were leaving. Geez, Schlotzsky's get it together.... Let me back up and preface. I'm a 24 year veteran of the restaurant industry and GM/Chef a highly successful restaurant here in Austin. I've gone to Schlotzsky's since I was a kid, had the founder of Schlotzsky's in my restaurant and had some great conversations with him. No more. Strike one- I stopped by the SSV location and they forgot 2 bags of chips. Not a huge deal. I called, told them what was up and they gave me the option of a refund or chips on my next visit. I opted for the latter . No biggie. Strike two- same location. Stopped by, got my usual order for my family and I. I let them know they shorted me chips last time, that they had my name and that I'd like my free chips. I was multitasking and didn't realize that they in fact CHARGED me for the chips, which I, of course, didn't discover until I was home. That, however, was the tip of the iceberg. When I opened the pizza I had ordered for my son, imagine my surprise when I realized there was A BITE taken out if it. Basically someone had taken one of the pieces of pizza, take a large bite out, then put it back in. Of course I called and asked for the manager. I explained the situation, and she told me "there's no way that could have happened. It's probably just cut weird." At that point I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere and asked for the GM's name, left mine, along with my number, and asked for a phone call. I received one the next day which I missed. I called back and left multiple messages but never received a callback. Strike three- You. Are. Out. After a few months to cool down, and on the urging of my wife, I went back. Again I didn't fine tooth comb the order. When I got home, I realized they left off the pizza but charged me for it. Seeing 8 shades of red, I went back, receipt in hand and asked for the manager. I asked his name, shook his hand, then explained, basically this post, and told him I needed the pizza and I needed the entire ticket voided, to which he responded "you're being pretty demanding". Yes. You read that right. There was some other asinine and famously pathetic remarks that I simply don't feel like recounting. I watched as he asked the young woman at the drive through window about my order and they both located my original pizza, sitting on the counter by the expo window. The manager grudgingly voided the order and I went on my way. I'm going to to make it my mission to share this experience with anyone that will listen. As a restaurant professional, stories of legendarily bad service are a point of entertainment....just not when you're the star. read more

I come here quite often and today was a bad experience . For 1 the guy named Kyle running the front of house is very rude. Seems like he is having a bad day. Even my children noticed he had an attitude . 2ndly he never asked if we wanted a drink. I had to go back after we sat down to get drinks for my children. I asked him if the drinks were included in the meal and he said no, very abruptly. Now why does he think we're going to eat here with no drink. Really? Ordered the $8.99 Southwest Chicken Salad in the drive thru and when I got home, 75% of the ingredients were missing. Called and the Manager said is it because they have recalled the items. Yup -definitely the original. Try the Texas Schlotzskys, its a really big bite!! I've been enjoying this food from way back, and now the pizzas are great. Give the review on your receipt a go. I did, on my phone while I waited and then ate my sandwich. Was good for a free small original sandwich that for some reason was really good, I guess cause it was free. You'll spend a little more than at McDs but the food is wayyyyy better. read more

Schlotzsky's is always a good option for lunch and dinner, however, this time wasn't so good. My order consisted of 1 sandwich with a pickle and 1 pizza with 2 cokes. First the cashier almost gave us the wrong order and told me that my total was $10 more than I expected. Already upset, I drive away and when I opened the bag of food later I noticed there wasn't even a pickle inside... and then I noticed that one of the cokes was either a Diet Coke or very watered down. I love the service I get ah this location! My first time experience at this location was delightful. I came here on a business lunch. I was a little skeptical, as I've had my order messed up at the one by Zilker Park (that location did comp me for the mistake however). I wanted to go to Jersey Mike's another sandwich spot I like. They greeted us. Took time to explain the ingredients in the Hawaiian and Sicilian sandwiches and even offered recommendations. I was surprised at the cashier's knowledge and patience. We dined in in the outside seating. On return visit for take out the service was consistent also and most importantly my order was correct. Now I had the Hawaiian and I must say the mango sauce on there is quite tasty. The meat tasted fresh. The slices of bacon was crispy and lean. The sandwich came hot and looked as if it was prepared carefully. You know not rushed and sloppy. I like the sourdough bread it has a nice complementary taste to the sandwich. I also have the note the Fuze raspberry ice tea they offer is quite thirst quenching. Not too sweet and not too watery. read more

This location is very good if the manager is out front. Otherwise the current staff tend to talk more to each other than be helpful.

Sandwiches - good. They always are. Service was excellent. I had a big ole chocolate chip cookie. Why did I even bother shelling out $2 before flipping it over and reading the ingredients? Enriched bleached flour, artificial flavors and preservatives, and partially hydrogenated cotton seed oil aka trans-fat. It is beyond me why companies still use trans-fat not to mention all the other crap. Still I took a small bite... The cookie tasted like a sweetened piece of moistened cardboard with fake/chemical overtones. Horrible! And as far as the folks that are thinking, "Why are you buying a cookie if you're all health conscience?" An occasional treat is fine, but shouldn't it in the very least taste good? And better yet, just because it's a treat doesn't mean it needs to contain a veritable chemical processing plant in every vile bite. read more

This location has excellent service, a nice outdoor areas with tables and chairs, and even table and couches. They are pet friendly and have space to accommodate outside. With TCBY and Cinnabun, they have a great selection of menu items. Love the pizza, and of course The Original! read more

I asked if they're pizza sizes changed because 10 inch didn't seem large. They, I guess, were misinformed on the pizza sizes and now the large pizza is the same size as the kids, for a slight price jump. I have no idea what the kids is now, but if you want pizza, avoid schlotzsky's. read more

I take my previous review back. It was really good until recently. Now, when I go there, they don't listen because they're in too much of a hurry. The people are still really nice, but I'm there for the food, not people. When I go inside, my order is always perfect. Don't do the drive-thru. They will f* up every single time. They seem to give priority to that, and don't mind letting the people that go inside wait. Also, PLEASE don't scream "welcome to schlotsky's!" when someone is trying to talk to you. Just plain rude. Today was my first time going to any Schlotsky's and my last, i went in around 3:40. A guy around 20 years old took my order and it took 5 repeats for him to get down that I wanted the italiono. Its a under specialty sandwich. I legit had to say, "the italiano, its the first sandwich under specialty sandwiches." He even walked under the sign and pointed to it. After 10 min of waiting I got this salad, so I went to the register. A woman who I assumed was a manager in her late 20s helped me, didn't even give me a $ difference I asked if there was one, which I know she should have because I later checked the menu. So i wanted another 10 min for her to bring it out. Neither of these people were apologetic or even friendly, and I feel like I got ripped off. NEVER going to Schotsky's again. read more

I've been going to this Schlotzky's for lunch for years, and it's always been fast, fresh, with reasonable prices. I'm not sure what changed recently, but the price of a Medium Combo is now over $10! Also, the last sandwich I got, the bread was cold, and seemed like it wasn't as fresh as I've had before. I'm a native Austinite and have noticed the sell out of this sandwich since it's inception at the small store on Congress that I religiously frequented. The sour dough all over has changed drastically to this puffy unrecognizeable roll instead of the sturdy dense bun it used to be. Also for some reason this store constantly and consistently does not give condiments at all. I ask and am willing to pay for extra pickles.
