Ranked #4 on North America's 50 Best Bars for 2026 and it opened early 2025. I walked in on a Friday night without a reservation and waited just 10-15 minutes to get seated. Some of their indoor seating options seem to be shared, so we sat across from other people (I didn't mind at all). Our server turned out to be one of the freaking co-owners and she could not have been friendlier or more hospitable. We were recommended Schmuck by a friend while we were visiting NYC and couldn't be happier with our experience. There was a bit of a line outside as it seems to be a pretty popular spot. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had in nyc. The vibe is very much clubby and not an intimate cocktail bar but it's very fun, loud, and just a great time. All the drinks we tried were great but particular standouts were the cornbread, melon cheese, and blue cheese coffee banana. Those drinks blew me away. Miso drink and ranch drinks were good but the ranch drink is similar to one at yacht club in Denver which I just love so much so it just didn't hit the spot for me. Surprisingly this bar was also not as difficult to get into compared to other bars in the area and the drinks were just amazing. Would definitely recommend this spot over other popular places nearby. Amazing vibes, they have a table with fortune cookies that you can actually take some. The staff are personable yet efficient, they end the check nicely. Great cocktail bar with quite a few different menus depending on where you sit. Schmuck is a spot that I've heard great things about while traveling abroad. Their bar drinks are really yummy, with the Versace slipper and Tom Kha being particular standouts for me. The back room has other excellent drinks. Honestly, of the 4 drinks we tried there, they were all hitters. So good I don't even remember what I got. The service is quick, and the room gets louder and louder as the night progresses, classsic of any bar. It's a great spot for a hangout or a super casual meetup, and the bevs are excellent. So if you don't have reservations, come before/around opening. First off, I love their Schmuck shirt! I would totally buy it if it was available for sale! The hostess and the bartenders were all super friendly and chatty! I think their bar seats are so much better than the tables - you can look at the bartenders create magic and chat around with the staff and other patrons. The drink menu is pretty creative and inspired by elements from Thai cuisine to Christmas cheer. On their menu, you will find everything from spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, fruits like bananas and granny smiths, cheeses like brie and blue cheese, to oils like olive and chili oil. Love Schmuck! Hailing from Barcelona and the successful bar Two Schmucks, the owners have made their way to NYC (thank you for blessing us with your passion and creativity) to open this spot up. First of all the space is intimately curated, and you can tell a lot of love was placed into the interior design. If you find them on IG, you'll find reels of the loving and careful process that was conducted to choose things like the legs on the chairs and the table material. It's inspiring :) The drinks are excellent also, and are unique - you'll find things you won't find anywhere else here and every single one is like an adventure. Larb Gai was my favorite one. It has so many elements of a good larb gai - the peanuts, the mintiness/herbs, and a little kick of spice. Waited about 30 minutes for a table for 4 (I don't know if they accept reservations) and the line was getting longer once we got in we could see why! The freshly juiced strawberry was incredible and the cheese added a creamy, savory depth of flavor. -Melon cheese and pepper (gin, dry vermouth, cantaloupe, and mozzarella cheese foam): I didn't order this one, but tried a sip and enjoyed it. It reminded me of a melon y jamon tapa. They primarily take walk-ins, though a limited number of reservations are available. On a recent Saturday night, the right-side line (if facing the restaurant) seemed to be reservations and the left side was walk-ins. We came kinda early, around 8:45, and only had to wait around 15 minutes, which was about the amount of time we were quoted. It was raining a bit, though, which might've impacted the number of people willing to wait in line. Cocktail bar in East Village! Wow wow wow, this place is cool. For my first time, we our name down for a 1.5 hour wait (went around 9PM) and went to another bar in the meantime (lots in the area). Atmosphere is like a house party, and you're hanging out in the living room. We got seated on these low couches which was a whole vibe; there is a bar top in the middle of the room but all the other seating arrangements are a little different with unique furniture pieces. They have a small food menu to order from but we only came for drinks. Their cocktail menu is good if you like drinks that are experimental, creative, and a little weird. I honestly thought it was going to be a one drink and go situation, but the cocktail list was short and interesting so we ended up making it through all of them as a group (menu changes changes occasionally). All of them were made really well, and I was honestly pretty impressed by all the flavor executions. Some standouts for me were the larb gai (peanut-y with chili oil), bread and tomatoes (this was really weird, clarified and it honestly was giving BLT, but I thought it was cool), and the fika (I always love a coffee cocktail, on the sweeter side too). I honestly enjoyed all of them tho and they were all well prepared. Honestly had such a great time, and glad I got to experience all of it. Cherry on top was the service -- everyone I interacted with was so hospitable, but our server lowkey knocked it out of the park. Was able to walk in to the front on Friday night after they had a cancellation. I loooooved the decor and vibe at Schmuck. Beautiful furniture, great music, and perfect ambiance. I believe their menu changes seasonally, since the original menu that caught my eye was no longer available last night. Nonetheless, got to try some amazing drinks!! Highlights were the Peaches & Cream and the Patio Pounding Pear. Peaches & Cream was a slush drink, topped with a salted whipped cream-- to be eaten with a spoon. Great balance of flavors, and I loved that the drink was like a dessert. The Patio Pounding Pear was strong, but sweet. It was served with a side of Parmesan cheese, which paired so nicely with the sweet drink. We also tried the Macho Man Randy Savage, which was refreshing and light! As a Village resident, I acknowledge how absurdly spoiled for choice I am when it comes to craft cocktails. And, in full cognizance of this bounty, I still delight in discovering new (to me) exceptional entrants to the neighborhood bar scene. Friends, Schmuck is one such superlative honoree. We've been taking advantage of summer weekends in the city--when many of the locals escape our urban heat island in favor of more temperate climes in the Hamptons or the Hudson Valley. Despite an influx of tourists, the city still feels a little less frenetic, and many hype destinations are moderately easier to get into. Even so, I was not anticipating a queue halfway down the block when we rolled up to Schmuck right at opening time on a Saturday. Fortunately, it seems they have sufficient space, and primarily take walk-ins, so everyone in line (at least, up until our position) was successfully placed for their first seating. This particularly balmy July, it was surprisingly comfortable to be outside--in the building's shade, to be sure--just after 4pm. We took advantage of the al fresco option and helped ourselves to an open two-top, right behind a couple with a cute (and mostly well-behaved) dog. We discovered their kitchen doesn't open until 5pm, so I only sampled their drink menu... and it did not disappoint. Across two rounds, we tried the dirty martini & tonic; coffee, pineapple & olive oil; buttered paloma; and a rapscallion. Every single tipple was a smash hit. Of the lot, I think my favorite was, surprisingly, the dirty martini: it was simultaneously refreshing yet savory and oh-so-delightfully-dirty. I thought the tajín rim on the paloma was a necessary touch that gave the drink some needed oomph (otherwise, I might as well have been drinking juice). And if I were to do it all over again, I'd save the coffee for last as a liquid dessert. 100% would return. I'm definitely curious about their bar bites. We were initially seated in the back area, even though there were open seats at the bar we had requested. I had to ask twice to be moved to the main space. Also worth noting: if you're seated in the back, you have to exit the bar and re-enter through the front to return to the main area--and the menu differs between the two, which wasn't explained upfront. We both tried the Schmuck Martini, which ends with a few drops of olive oil. It's a creative twist, though I tend to prefer a more classic take. We sampled another cocktail that didn't quite land for us, but the complimentary potato chips were a nice touch. We visited as a group of three around midnight on a Friday. Despite the late hour, the wait was a reasonable 20 minutes -- not bad for a bar that once held considerable acclaim in Barcelona. From the menu alone, it's clear the bar aims to push creative boundaries. The cocktails are presented with flair and inventiveness -- an icy take on the strawberry margarita, a playful Ramos Fizz, and a piña colada-pickleback hybrid that cleverly splits one drink into two parts. The visual and conceptual ambition is admirable. That said, when it comes to flavor and balance, the execution didn't quite meet expectations. Many of the drinks leaned heavily toward bold, dominant notes, often at the expense of subtlety or finesse. While this may well be an intentional stylistic choice -- emphasizing impact over nuance -- the result, in my view, compromised drinkability and left little room for the more delicate interplay of ingredients. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm as a party of one. It was crowded but I didn't have to wait as there was a seat available at the bar. I believe this is the space called The Living Room. The space is bright and retro and bustling. I don't recall my bartenders name but she was nice and attentive. The menu at The Living Room and the menu in the other section of schmuck (I think it's called the Kitchen Table) are not drastically different so I didn't feel the need to try the other section. I had to drink: Le Petite Fizz (very foamy, sweet and refreshing) and Caramelized Apple (not as sweet as you would expect, served with a little cookie). I had the puff pastry pizza to eat which was actually amazing? It's not what you expect but it's so good. Don't expect marinara sauce here. They grate Parmesan table side for you when it is served. I was going to try the White Bean Cacio e Pepe but it had multiple bad reviews on here so I opted out of this. Schmuck is receiving a lot of attention right now. Is it deserving of the attention? I'm not entirely sure. Should you wait two hours to get in here? Again, not sure. Schmuck is an objectively good bar. The drinks and presentation are upscale and the staff has created a place with a good energy. They are creative and playful with the menu which is refreshing. That being said, they are just another upscale, funky cocktail bar to me. I would not wait 2 hours to get in here. I would however come back if I could get in easily like I did on a Tuesday. I do think schmuck is worth a visit if you can get in relatively quick (under 30 min). The drinks are cheaper than some other fancy bars right now, $19 vs $22+ in other places. The food is a little overpriced but good. The entrance has stairs and I do not think it is ADA accessible (unless there's another entrance I'm not aware of). Didn't use the restroom so unsure how that is. The noise level is loud. Between the music and conversation, you can't really hear yourself think in here. This new bar does not have purse hooks (!!!!) at the bar which is a big oversight on their part. This can easily be fixed though. Out of the other fancy, creative cocktail places (like Double Chicken Please, which I do think deserves the hype), schmuck is not #1 for me but they are also not last. This review is for the back/side bar since the front isn't even taking people for waitlist (and I've attempted coming here twice now with fail). Despite that, the back bar is pretty dope too. There's one big communal table in the middle with a side couch table and a couple standing bars against the wall. The space is super lively with music blasting. It's quite crowded as everyone is super close to each other. It almost feels like a house party as you're squeezed together and mingling with others here. I have to say that the menu is quite unique with some very interesting ingredient combinations. I tried the Strawberry & Cheese ($19), which was good but I didn't taste much of the cheese part. They really should shave some parmesan cheese on top for garnish and flavor --missed opportunity. My friend had the Melon Cheese & Pepper ($19), which is a popular pick. This has a cheese foam similar to the cheese foams for boba, but lighter. We also decided to share the Smoked Labhne Chili Oil ($15), which was a yummy small bite. The cocktails are bold, yet approachable. It's got a fun vibe and loud music, so more for a fun time as you'll be shouting to make conversation here. One of the most enjoyable evenings I had recently was at schmuck. It is a sophisticated cocktail bar, with a positively batshit menu of exotic sounding drinks that are all fabulous. HOWEVER, don't sleep on the food either. It was all delicious. The vibe is a loud but cozy space that resembles, in sections, someone's apartment. In thay way it reminded me of APT from the very early 2000s, but this is a far more interesting operation. Loved the individualized staff uniforms, I wanted one. Very cool. What helped was a friendly, extremely attentive service staff (and bouncer) who do in fact give you a fresh frozen glass for your (very well made) martini multiple times and always make sure you have a full glass of water, I just loved all of it. One of my new favorite cocktail bars in the city. Amazing drinks, cute concept, and the best service & experience. Since it's a newer spot, we were also able to walk in on Sunday evening without waiting which is a huge plus too! There's a front room and back room. I personally thought the back room drinks were more unique and savory but if you enjoy sweeter drinks, you'll probably like the front room more! The front room is set up like a kitchen with one big long table in the middle, while the back room is supposed to feel more like a living room with a more intimate feel thats split up by tables. We tried almost the whole menu in both rooms and my favorites were the Le Petit Fizz, Blanka, Larb Gai, and Ranch Water from the back room. In the front, I enjoyed the Strawberry & Cheese, Melon Cheese & Pepper, and La Banane. Will definitely be bringing friends here! read more
